Adobe Air Browser (HTMLLoader) Doesn't Support HTML5

Is there any way to replace the HTMLLoader that is in the Adobe Air SDK with one of the native browsers on the user's system?
In my Air app, there is an inline browser that loads content from a website that looks and works fine in native IE, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome... But the Air browser apparently doesn't support local storage... And the page I try to load inline requires that support.

Unforunately, not with HTMLLoader but you can with StageWebView by passing in true in the constructor.

MergedProjects dont appear in Adobe Air Browser Based Help when published to a server - its works fine on my local machine. The topics are there on the server as they appear in the Search, but the do not appear in the TOC.
I have looked at another similar thread to this on the forum but there doesn't seem to be any resolution as yet?
I am publishing to local machine and then uploading to the server.
    Thanks

Just to confirm - these files have indeed fixed the merged TOC display problem.
    Thanks Peter.

  • Robohelp 9 Adobe Air Browser Based Help not rendering on IIS Server 7.5

    Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue where the output (Adobe Air browser based help) is not rendering properly on the IIS Server 7.5 that it is published to.
I have updated the icons in the skin, and when viewed locally the site works fine. When it is published to the webserver the new icons do not show up, and the banner does not render in the new color. The site is using the unipane adobe air browser based help template.
I've had the dev team restart the webserver twice, and for some reason the flash object simply won't update.
    Anyone else see this before?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry
If memory serves, Browser Based AIRHelp uses Flash elements like FlashHelp does. I recall a few years ago that FlashHelp had the same issues on some servers. Further, if memory serves, the fix was to ask your web server folks to tweak the server by adjusting the MIME types so it will properly serve Flash items.
Adobe used to have a KB article on this. Unfortunately, time seems to have caused it to evaporate. Grrrrr
    Cheers... Rick

  • Application Is Running On A Version of Adobe AIR Which Is No Longer Supported?

"This application is running on a version of Adobe AIR which is no longer supported. Please install the latest version of Adobe AIR from..."
This is the message I get when I try opening an F4V. file. I never had this issue in the past. I tried going to the website to update my version of Adobe AIR, and it says I cannot, since it's already up-to-date. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Do you have access to the problematic machine? If so, maybe you could try to install Sysinternal's Process Monitor http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
Run the tool, create filter to see just events containing your app name and try to find in the result any issue... you could also compare the log with same log from not problematic machine or with app made with older SDK which was working.
That's all what I can do... it's a shame that nobody from Adobe is interested yet... maybe you could also submit a bug.

  • Adobe AIR Browser Based Help Edit Home Button URL

I'm using the unipane template for my adobe air browser based help, and need to edit the URL that the home button uses. Currently, the home button will take me to a page displaying a table of contents structure instead of the default topic I use as the homepage.
Is there a way to edit this url that the home button in the unipane template?
    Thank you,
    Jerry

Not that I know of. I guess if you hacked the installed AIR help you might find a way of doing it but that hack would have to be done on every PC after installation. Obviously that is a non-starter.

  • Firefox does not display my customised Adobe Air browser based skin when viewed from a server

    Hi,
I have edited the skin for my Adobe Air Browser based help. It appears fine in Explorer and Chrome, but Firefox displays the default black Air skin when viewed from a server.
However, it appears OK when viewed locally on my machine in Firefox?
Does anyone know why this is or if there is a way to make my customised skin display when viewed from a server using the Firefox browser?
    Cheers

    Peter,
    I think this was it:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2846292#2846292
although my problem is just with Firefox - my amended skin displays fine in Internet Explorer.
Firefox just applies the default Midnight Black skin.

just did firm ware update on time capsule an now my airport express not connected do to air port utilities doesn't support base station ?

    mickair wrote:
I have been experiencing some networking problems
    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
I have the latest Time Capsule ("TC"), an old Airport Extreme Base Station ("AEBS") bought in 2007 and 2 Airport Expresses, one bought in 3 months ago ("AE-Alpha") and the other bought back in 2007 ("AE-Beta"). All of them have been updated with the latest firmware.
Based on those dates, the AirPort Extreme is probably flat (as opposed to dome-shaped), making it 802.11n-capable. The Newer AirPort Express is probably an 802.11n-capable model A1264, while the older one is probably a model A1084 or A1088.
I use {the TC's} DHCP function ... to avoid unauthorized use.
This a discussion for another thread, but that's not what DHCP is for.
The wireless setting for it is to participate as WDS Main, but after reading various posts, it seems WDS is a bad idea
With that older AirPort Express you're stuck with WDS unless you decide to replace it with a newer model.
The AEBS is currently setup as being a WDS Relay at the moment
Why a relay? That's only needed if there's another base station "beyond" it that is configured to depend on it.
Since the AEBS is connected to the TC via Ethernet, you should probably configure it as a "roaming network":
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2273124
{The AE-Alpha} connects fine as WDS remote at the moment
I don't have any experience with mixed WDS and non-WDS networks, but since it's 802.11n-capable, you may be able to configure it to "extend" the network of the TC rather than as WDS. Look for a setting on the TC to "Allow this network to be extended".
    Physical location:
AEBS in one end, TC and AE-Alpha in the middle while AE-Beta on the other end.
A device such as "AE-Beta" that's supposed to extend a network shouldn't be "at the end" but should be half way between the central base station and the clients that need an extended network.

  • 'Page Info' doesn't support HTML5 'meta charset' tag?

Admittedly this isn't a catastrophic problem, but it seems that the Firefox 'Page Info - General' dialog does not support HTML5's '<meta charset="UTF-8">' tag - the dialog displays an empty line in my Firefox 21.0 browser.
If the meta charset tag is changed to the pre-HTML5 version of '<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> the Page Info dialog displays the 'Content-type' information.
Other posts I've seen suggest that Firefox's HTML5 support has been frozen except for new HTML5 standards that may be added as they are finalised.
Does that mean that this omission is going to be left unfixed?

Looks as though someone started working on this in 2010, but interest (?) petered out?

  • Browser compatibility for Adobe AIR (browser-based version)

    Hi there,
I'm using RoboHelp 10 to create the browser-based version of Adobe AIR. My understanding is that this version of AIR uses Flash for some of the navigation, such as the table of contents.
Can anyone else share their findings on which browsers and Flash plug-ins will reliably display the browser-based version of AIR? I've found that it displays fine on IE 8, but not IE 9, and not Google Chrome (version 23).
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Robert

    Hi Peter,
I've spent more time looking at my project and I am not getting the results I need.
To summarize, I've created a browser-based version of Adobe AIR that is a local copy. It runs fine on IE 8, but not Google Chrome (version 23) or IE 9. I've also tried created a very small second RoboHelp project and I get the same results--the index.htm page is blank in Chrome and IE 9.
In Chrome, I've double-checked that it is running Flash version 11.5.31.5. I've noticed that Chrome changes my file path (see attached screen capture).
I'm at a loss to figure out why this is not displaying, as expected.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 doesn't support PowerPC architecture CPU

As installation of CS4 Master Collection, I notice that there are some applications missing. After Effects as well as a bunch of other applications have the warning "This product does not support PowerPC architecture CPU". This is not good since its really the only piece of software I need.
Here are the specs on my computer:
    processor 4 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5
    Memory 16 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    Mac OS X version 10.5.4
I spent quite a bit of money on this computer and putting memory into it. Is there nothing I can do? Some sort of inexpensive component I can change or add in order for After Effects to work? Thanks.

Just kind of crummy that since it comes in a bundle, as an option, that the bundle itself doesn't carry some kind of warning or wording about System Requirements.
Well the CS3 Production Premium box does have a warning, so I would presume that the CS4 box does as well. CS3's box says "System Requirements: Multicore Intel processor (Adobe Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, Flash Professional, and After Effects Professional are universal binary and also work on a PowerPC G4 or G5 processor)." So, right there you can tell that Premiere, Soundbooth and Encore don't run on PowerPC in CS3.
I can imagine this happening to other G5 and earlier users.
Why is that? G5 PowerPC code runs on any G5 - so unless you're going to limit it based on CPU clock speed, the earliest G5s wouldn't be giving up anything to the newer ones except for overall speed, obviously.
Doubt it will be in the next upgrade.
I'd agree. At that point, even the newest G5s will be about 5 years old, and it's clear that Adobe is moving towards Intel only support rather quickly.
I wonder if Adobe is allowing customers to pick and choose what versions are in a bundle for the same discount. Swapping new for old, maybe.
Won't happen. Adobe's upgrade policies aren't very generous. Not only are the costs rather steep, but if you're upgrading from the standalone versions to the suite, your upgrade price is based on you owning one of the apps that's part of the suite in the new version. You get no extra credit even if you have all of the suite's apps as standalone versions (e.g. if you have AE, Illustrator, PS, and Flash, it's the same upgrade price as it is if you only owned PS).

I too am trying to use the Wii portal of power with the iPad.  No luck.  I just found this on the app store:
Bring the Skylanders to life in two ways:
    • Connect the new Bluetooth Portal of Power (optional accessory) to your device and bring your collection to life instantly. Swap them out during battle to win tough battles and leverage their unique powers.
Guess they want more of our money.  Not finding it anywhere to buy though

You only get the "This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them." text if either frames are disabled or you use a browser that doesn't support frames (the text is in a &lt;noframes&gt; &lt;/noframes&gt; block). Firefox would display this text under normal conditions.

  • Is there a minimum width to Adobe AIR Help output?

    Good day!
I am trying to produce an Adobe AIR Help document which is 256x768 pixels in size; this document is to be displayed on the left of the screen and use only a quarter of the Desktop real estate.
When I produce an Adobe AIR Help file using these dimensions, the document is always too wide. Furthermore, I cannot manually adjust it to be more narrow.
I would like to produce a Help document which is similar to Adobe's "Self Test Drive" environment for customer prospects to experience Adobe product. My company is doing a very similar project.
Why is it that Adobe AIR Help output doesn't export at this size? Furthermore, are there any adjustments to any files I can make to allow this?
Thank you for your help, in advance!  Have a great day!
    Most sincerely,
    Sammy Spencer

For this situation the plugin https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjikl pkjnoahfmg for Chrome may help. You can set the user agent to fool the HTML5 browser detection.

  • Adobe Air Installer has encountered a problem and has to close....

Every time I try to view a BBC TV program on-line via my IE8 browser + flash10, I get the subject error box repeatedly with the invitation to send a report to Microsoft. It looks as if I have Adobe Air installed (it's in the Add/Remove Programs list in my WinXP+SP3) but I get the same error box if I try to uninstall it or if I try to install the latest version over the top of it. I tried Microsoft's msicuu Cleanup Utility, and that removed AIR from it's own list of programs but AIR is still listed in Add/Remove Programs, and still will not uninstall. However I now get a different error box which says the application requires a version of Adobe AIR which is no longer supported.  I tried creating an install log, but nothing gets written to it.  I tried running "..installer.exe -uninstall" from a commandline. Same thing.  I don't know how to make Adobe AIR go away. I can neither remove it nor install it.  I don't think I need it anyway.  Can anyone help please? Does anyone at Adobe ever check this forum?
    Peter M

Are you installing AIR installer or running Installer. If your running it make sure you click on the AIR Install package file, not just using installer. Im not really sure what you can do.
