  • Adobe Central Pro supported on a Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2?

    Is Adobe Central Pro or can AC be supported on a Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2.
    Currently only have it on SP1.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    When is Adobe Central Pro going to be sunset?
    Hi Don,
    I've installed SP4 (Incremental) as found here:  http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/service_packs/crystal_reports_en.asp#CRXIR2
    But could not find an SP4a or SP6 there.  I googled them, leading to another Business Objects page, in which there was a SP4 Full and SP 6 Incremental link, but I can't get a complete download of either.
    Can you point me in the right direction?  Sorry for the lack of knowledge navigating the Crystal site - it's not a product I'm overly familiar with.
    Thanks.
  • Public APIs for Adobe Central Pro Server
    Hi,
    Can anyone point me to the Public APIs that are available with the Adobe Central Pro Server e.g. I would want my application to dynamically add or remove steps in the job db, or change the target printer. Also, is it possible to invoke the preview functionality that comes with the Adobe Designer and integrate with an existing application
    Here what we are trying to do is add the printing (template merging) facility to an existing application and would want access to the public API for these products.
    Thanks in anticipation!
    Regards,
    I'm not sure you can do what you describe in the manner that you appear to be wanting to do it. I know of no APIs that are provided. There are ways to get the job done, though.<br /><br />The job management data base is an ascii text file that can easily be changed programatically. Parts of our application use it for building a drop-down list of printers for the user to select from. Changing it doesn't automatically cause Central to use the new file. Central must be told to reload it before it will be using the modified file. This can be done by placing a certain "command" file in Central's control folder, but it would not run until after the current job completes - if the current job is the one that just changed the file and further steps of the same job are for the processing of the data, then that would be too late. Once a job starts, all the parameters and tasks from the job management database and on the original ^job statement is what will be used. This goes for changing anything about the job, whether it be adding/deleting steps, changing the printer, or any other parameters.<br /><br />We accomplish pretty much what you want by doing several things. <br /><br />*First, we define all of the various configurations of jobs that we need. For example, our main printing job has four tasks; it is not uncommon to need to restart a job someplace besides the first task. Therefore, we have four different jobs defined, each one starting further down the list of tasks. We do the same thing when the processing of the data has to vary in some manner - we have jobs pre-defined for each specific set of tasks and the source of the data sets the ^job name as required for the specific tasks that have to be done.<br /><br />*For modifying the printer, we use the -z<printer> and -asp<driver> parameters on the ^job statement and the source of the file sets the values as necessary. The source of the file will also set the job name so that the desired job is ran. <br /><br />*We also have built into our custom agents the capability to recognize when a "soft" failure is occurring (such as can't reach our database) and it will put the job back in for processing after changing the job name to run the correct job for restarting at the proper step. <br /><br />*One of our steps is to check a control file to see if there is a redirection for the specified printer to a substitute printer (say, the original printer is down for maintenance). This agent will put the job back in for processing, changing not only the job name but the printer parameters. It has to be put back in, instead of just changing the parameters and passing the file on to JFMERGE, because Central uses the parameters on the original ^job line, it doesn't use the parameters that might be on the ^job line when JFMERGE starts.<br /><br />*We have also created our own agent for running as the JFERROR task. This task runs when one of the agents supplied with Central encounter a failure. Our agent analyzes the failure and determines if it was "hard" or "soft". If it was a "soft" failure, this agent requeues the job, changing the name and parameters as necessary.<br /><br />So far we have been unable to determine how to get our VB6 agents to set the ErrorLevel to notify Central that the agent failed (we came up with a workaround instead of spending a lot of time trying to get the ErrorLevel to work). This is necessary to prevent Central's agents from processing when a predicessor custom agent fails. Since we couldn't set the ErrorLevel, we just set up all of our agents to always create an output file for input to the next task. When one of our agents fail, it only outputs a modified ^job line with no following data. This modified ^job line is recognized by our custom agents as an indication that a failure is in process so it skips any processing except to pass the file to the next task. Since there is no data or form commands in the file, once it gets to JFMERGE, it just terminates without producing any output or error condition.<br /><br />Previewing is accomplished by running the JFPVMRG agent to create a PDF and then JFPVSEND to send it to the originating IP# for receipt by the View Manager which will then load it into Adobe Reader. At this point, the job running on Central will be finished - it could have produced hard-copy output or not depending on its design. Once the user receives the PDF, they can do whatever they want with it (save, print, etc).<br /><br />We use the above capability for our users to view an "archive" image of forms, after it has been processed normally. I know of others that use it to create the PDF as part of the normal processing, allowing the user to then print from Adobe Reader it if they wish.<br /><br />What we do is to drop a DAT file into Central's input folder that runs the above two agents. Our application that is running on the user's PC then watches for Adobe Reader to load and when it does it forces it to be the top-most task (we do this because we have a problem that it will often open behind other windows).
  • File format for Adobe Central Pro Server
    Is it possible to use a PDF instead of a MDF in Central Pro? What about XDP files?
    Sanket,
    Adobe Content Server adds Digital Rights Management (DRM) to PDFs to turn them into eBooks. Your questions seem to deal with a different product.
  • How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central.
    How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central. It's for an online Diet Questionnaire. After people complete the form I'd like them to click "SUBMIT" and the completed form will be emailed to me.
    This can be a bit confusing because Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop app that allows you to create simple PDF forms without having a FormsCentral account. Some people find this helpful, but you need to understand that when you generate the PDF form, it is Reader-enabled by Acrobat. In order to edit the form further in Acrobat, you have to create a non-enabled copy of the form. You do this in Acrobat by opening the form and selecting: File > Save a Copy
    and opening the copy. It is not opened automatically.
    You can now add a button and set it up to submit by email, either using a "Submit a form" action or the submitForm JavaScript method. You can set it up to include just the form data or the entire PDF, and will want to use a mailto type URL. Submitting the form to the FormsCentral server has a number of important advantages over email (much more reliable, more secure, etc.), so you might want to consider it.
    If the form needs to be saved with Reader versions prior to 11, then you will need to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 11 you do this by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
  • I have Adobe Acrobat Pro. Do I need to purchase Forms Central separately?
    I've created a form using Adobe Acrobat Pro, now I want to distribute the form but it keeps asking me to subscribe for the monthly service. Is this not included in the Pro version?
    Formcentral service is not included in the perpetual license of Acrobat XI. It must either be purchased separately or it is included in the subscription version of Acrobat.
  • I have downloaded a trail version of adobe acrobat pro and when I try to use it, it says that it cannot be edited in acrobat, please use adobe livecycle designer to edit this form. I can't work out what I need to do?
    I have downloaded a trail version of adobe acrobat pro and when I try to use it, it says that it cannot be edited in acrobat, please use adobe livecycle designer to edit this form. I can't work out what I need to do?
    Acrobat XI is not distributed with Designer. Designer is now a separate product. You can create forms in Acrobat as an AcroForm or using Forms Central (an online forms program). You can print the form to a new PDF and then recreate the fields in Acrobat using the recognize form fields. You will likely have to fix the form fields, but that would be the process. Generally, once a form is taken to Designer, you can't bring it back without such steps.
    Designer is available with AA8 - AAX, but since is a separate product as I indicated.
  • Adobe X Pro - forms
    I am trying to create a new form. It takes me to the Adobe Forms Central.  I found a template I like and made my changes.  It will not let me save it as a pdf without paying for an account.
    How can I use templates in my Adobe X Pro that I already own without having to pay for a forms central account?
    Hi;
    I wanted to double check if you are using Acrobat Pro X or Acrobat Pro XI.
    If you are using Acrobat Pro X it does not give you any extra features with FormsCentral, you would have to either have a paid FormsCentral account or upgrade your Acrobat to Acrobat XI.
    If you are using Acrobat Pro XI (or if you were to pay a one time upgrade fee instead of the monthly FormsCentral subscription) you could use the included "FormsCentral Desktop application" and save forms as PDF.  Singing into the web site would not give you that feature, only using the desktop application, it is something you get with your Acrobat XI purchase...  So if you do have Acrobat XI and tried to save PDF from the web site, simply launch the FormsCentral application from Acrobat (I can give you more detail on how to run the application if needed) and you will have the option to save PDF.
    I hope that clarifies, let me know if you have any further questions.
    Thanks,
    Josh
    any1 got any idea what is causing that!? I also tried to install creative suite cs5.5 but i got same errors... i'm trying to install trial version
    I'm on windows 7 ultimate sp1 x64
    I found a couple errors in your install log.
    First you had error DW063 which as you saw refers you to Install log error "Error committing command" | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5.  You mentioned the document said to reinstall.  If you review the solution it is suggesting there may be a conflict with a previous version being installed.  Do you have any previous versions of the Creative Suite installed?  If so the document is suggesting you remove those.
    The second error is DF037 which points us to document Install log "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" read, write system file errors | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5.  This document is basically stating you have permission issues under your current user account and the installer is having problems writing files to your hard drive.
    If you would like you are welcome to look at the log files as well.  I would recommend you review the following documents for information about reviewing the installation logs:
    Troubleshoot CS5 and CS5.5 installation with install logs
    Installation, launch log errors | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5
    Please feel free to respond back to this thread if you have any questions about the solutions offered within these documents.
  • Is there a trick when you configure MAPI for the mail system in Central Pro?
  • Articulate Storyline courses in Adobe Connect Pro 7.5 don't resume when learner closes and revisits
    Hello,
    I'm brand new to this forum, so please forgive any breaches of etiquette, but I really hope someone from the Community can help wth a strange, somewhat random issue with some Articulate Storyline courses hosted in Adobe Connect Pro 7.5.
    We have more than 20 Storyline courses that have been published and uploaded over the last year.  If a learner closes the course before completing the end-of-course quiz, their progress should be saved and when they reopen the course they should see a prompt asking if they want to resume where they left off (see below).  This functionality is set up within the player settings of Storyline before the course is published, and all courses were prompting to resume until a couple of weeks ago.
    Resume Prompt:
    Storyline Player Settings:
    Around May 31, we noticed that some of the courses were starting over from the beginning slide, even if the learner had previously completed part or all of the course.  I opened about 10 courses that day, and 3 or 4 prompted me correctly; the other 6 or 7 started over at the beginning.  The strange thing is that all of the courses are published the same way using the following settings in Storyline (3 screens below).
    Publish Settings Screen 1
    Publish Settings Screen 2
    Publish Settings Screen 3
    The even stranger thing is that a course that didn't resume properly last week, now resumes correctly for my coworker but doesn't prompt me upon revisitng/resuming the course.  On Monday I opened 12 courses and only 2 of them resumed correctly.  Today I checked those same 12 courses:  5 prompted to resume correctly (including the 2 that worked on Monday), 7 did not prompt me.  When my coworker opened the same 12 courses - 2 of the 7 that weren't working for me DID prompt her when she reopened the course link.
    Unfortunately I haven't been able to establish any patterns as to why some courses always prompt to resume, why some courses never prompt /always restart from the beginning and why some courses prompt when my coworker opens them but not when I do.
    At this point, I'm not even sure where to start, what to check or what questions to ask, so any and all help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
    Diana
    To uninstall the add-in, go to your Start Menu, then Control Panel. Find Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall or change a program. Sort the list by name, and you should see the Adobe Connect Add-In. Select it and then click Uninstall.
    I believe there was an issue with Flash Player 11.2 or 11.3 that caused the version notification to show in Connect incorrectly. If the uninstaller doesn't work, then it may need to be solved by Adobe. You can also uninstall Flash Player from the dialog shown above, though the application in the KB article is a more complete uninstaller.
    The Connect 8 add-in is backward compatible, though the Connect 9 add-in is not, so be sure you don't have that. As you can see in the screen shot above, I have both add-ins installed.
    Have you gone to the Test My Computer page for your Connect server? There is also the option to install the add-in there, and get feed back on what may be causing these issues? You can access that from your Getting Started page, found on the Home Page of Connect Central, Resources tab.
    Or you should be able to insert your server URL in this link, http://YourServerURL/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm for the test page.
  • Central Pro or LiveCycle?
    Hi,
    We are adopting Adobe products for our document processing. Initially mostly for printing and some e-mailing. We do not really want to rule out for future use with forms and web.
    The specific question is, should we go for Central Pro Output Designer or LiveCycle Designer now?
    As a more general question, should we go for Central Pro or LiveCycle? We are not very clear where these products stand in relative terms with each other.
    Does anybody have experiences with both of them? Any issues, any preferences?
    Any reply is greatly appreciated.
    Regards.
    I don't have any real experience with LiveCycle forms because the Adobe path "went left" and we wanted to "keep going straight" so we continue to use the predecessor product (version 5.0). Besides, we have several hundred forms and lots of VB / VBScript code that would have to be rewritten, debugged & tested
    b and
    we would have to learn JavaScript and the object model underlying LiveCycle forms. I keep up with the product but we don't use it in production. It might be OK for someone just starting out or having to do a full conversion anyway. Personally, I'm also concerned about all the frustration and requests for help on the LiveCycle forum. At least Adobe does have staff monitoring that forum and providing aid to the requests for help.
    Central Pro Output Server (in the current Adobe vernacular) is a great way for producing paper forms (or PDFs, faxes, etc). It can also email the output or send the PDF directly to the originator's PC. Printed output can go to a central printer or to any printer available on the network. We are almost fully converted from our old DOS-based system and when completed at the end of this month we'll be producing approximately 120,000 "packets" of printed forms per month for mailing to clients.
    Unless you use an old, old version of the Output Designer, it is only for producing output (paper, PDFs, faxes, etc). It is
    b not
    a "filler" product. Some other product has to be used for the "filler" side. The older version of Form Designer that we use has a Filler program as well as an API that we use with VB for the "filler" side of the operation. This VB application builds the files that are compatible to Central Pro for producing the output that was designed with Output Designer. We run several custom "agents" on the server for doing various processing of the data besides just printing (update mainframe database, build form archive database, etc).
    If you are anticipating a web operation where the user retrieves a form, fills it out and then prints it or sends the data back to your server for processing, you would then probably want to use LiveCycle forms or custom html forms. If you anticipate the user of the form to want/need to save a partially filled form for completing later, then you would also need the Reader Extensions product (which I understand is
    b very
    expensive).
    Personally, I don't see LiveCycle forms as being the mechanism for producing masses of printed forms. At least not as a stand-alone product. It would probably be OK for the "filler" product with the data being sent to a server applet that passes it on to Central Pro. Of course, that would mean you
    i might
    have to design the form twice - once for LiveCycle and once for Output Designer.
    For our existing forms (which we maintained a copy as a PDF) we purchased a product that takes PDFs and turns them into Output Designer forms. Converted from PDF or newly created in Output Designer, with the older version of the Form Designer we are using we are able to export it and then import it into the Form Designer and then add the "filler" elements.
    If you choose the LiveCycle route and have PDFs of your existing forms then they can be imported directly into LiveCycle. If they are like our PDFs, with no fields, you would then have to add the fields. Of course, if you then use Central Pro for printing, you will have to get the forms into Output Designer somehow - by hand or using something like we did (FormBridge by Texcel Systems) for converting it.
  • Error Message:  Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down.
    Hi. I'm having another serious problem with CS4 (the version that comes with CS5 when you don't have 64 bit capability. I just finished a project, had saved it, and then had switched over to Adobe Encoder to create a finished flash video (which worked perfectly). I shut down CS4, went home, tried to restart the main project to create a video from the same project (wanted to make an mpeg version as well) and got the following error message:
    Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project. Then the system shuts down.
    Not only can I not open the project I was working on, I cannot open any of my prior projects without receiving the same error.
    Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue and how to resolve it?
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    By the way, is everyone else having the same amount of problems with this software? I've never had any software that has had so many problems from the beginning. My opinion of this software and Adobe in general has gone down substantially.
    Not enough information for anyone to even make a guess
  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashing very often! Please Help!
    Hello,
    I am currently editing my first feature on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and it is currently up to date.
    I am editing on a iMac 27in, late 2013 brand new computer.
    Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096MB
    System: OSX Yosemite V 10.10.1
    The project is located on a 8TB G Drive
    7200 RPM
    High Performance ThunderBolt drive.
    Details of the project:
    I am currently working on a fine cut of 5K Red Footage that is being cut in the RAW.
    I work at 1/2 quality settings and have no lag.
    The timeline includes limited stacked video files and various mp3 audio files.
    The Problem:
    Lately, the program will randomly quit or freeze up 4-5 times during an 5-6 hour edit session.
    Many times it is random, however, it seems to happen often if I accidentally click on the end of a clip on the timeline and it goes to switch into trimming mode.
    Also, it will randomly go into the "pinwheel of death" out of nowhere followed by "Adobe CC is not responding."
    My project file is just about 15MB now.
    What is causing this reoccurring problem?
    How can I make it happen less?  I have scoured the forums and found similar articles but no helpful solutions.
    I have recently turned auto save on to save every 2 minutes because there have been more than one occasion where I lost A LOT of work because of this issue.
    I am about two weeks out from picture lock delivery and this issue is driving me crazy and loosing me a ton of time.
    Please help or let me know if any more additional information can help solve the issue.
    I have sent in well over 25 error reports already.
    Thanks,
    Thomas.
    I think I may have found the solution...
    I completely removed the Premiere Pro folder under User > Documents > Adobe and so far it seems to have solved the problem.
    I of course backed up my projects and than deleted this folder. So far it seems it worked.
    I'll know for sure in a day or two, but after constantly crashing, Premiere hasn't crashed for the last 4-5 hours of work.
    Goran
