  • Adobe connect or connectnow

Our company is looking to host online workshops (virtual services). There appears to be two useful Adobe products for this; Connectnow which I see is as a cloud based service and hosted by adobe OR Adobe Connect which you install on your own hardware. If we want to host 2-3 workshops a week with 10-15 people in each, any suggestions on the best product for this? Thanks...

Connectnow was an offering that Adobe discontinued a number of years ago. It was part of the acrobat.com suite of solutions that could be used for free or upgrade for a fee. Currently there is only Adobe Connect available, but can be purchased as a hosted service or you can acquire the software to deploy on your own hardware. The Application is the same either way, it just comes down to what is easier and/or more cost effective for your needs.
If you are looking to host sessions with 10-15 people in it you will probably be better just using a hosted account. You can either purchase a monthly plan from Adobe directly, Adobe Connect Meetings | Online meeting software, web meetings, or you can talk with a reseller, Adobe Connect | Strategic Partners, which can offer more options and greater capacity. You are also welcome to contact me directly, as I am a reseller for North America. Feel free to PM me or email me jorma[at]realeyesconnect.com

  • How can I get my web cam to work in Adobe Connect ?

This is actually an end user's question that I am having trouble answering to...
We use Adobe Connect to give online language classes, the end user is one of the students.
I cannot find the right Support answer to give him.
    Problem:
My camera does not work when I connect to Adobe's rooms but camera works fine with other software.
Even though I suspected my old camera was working fine, yesterday I went ahead and bought a new camera.
I thought perhaps my webcam software may have been a problem, so I bought a different type camera with different software.
Even after removing all the old software, same result:
I surmised the problem might be caused by my firewall and security software, so once I tried changing the permissions for Adobe, and my Webcam, but that didn’t work.
Another time, I restarted my computer right before class and then turned off my firewall completely so there would be no interference but to no avail. I’m totally perplexed.
Isn’t there anyone else experiencing a similar problem?   Has anyone else found a solution?
I run Windows Vista with McAfee Internet Security Software.  I always reboot the computer before class and open no other programs other than Google Chrome.
I now have a brand new Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Camera with LifeCam 3.5 Webcam Software.
I test my camera before going online.  It always works fine.   Then I shut down the camera program and login into class.
When I “connect webcam” in the room, the light on my camera comes on (suggesting that it is ON), but only a black image is transmitted to the room.

Check to see if you have Google Voice installed. If so, remove it and see
if your problem vanishes. If not Google Voice, check to see if you have
any other communications software which interacts with your cam and
disable it. This was the problem I had with a similar problem on a Mac.

Thanks a lot Heyward for the swift reply !
I sent the advice out to the end user, but unfortunately this wasn't the
    solution.
    His reply is below :-
The default resolution of my new camera is already set at 640x360, but I
went ahead and tried several lower resolutions (e.g. 424x240; 320x240; and
160x120) but none worked in the room - camera still showed up as black
blank screen.  Also, as far as I can tell, I don’t have the option of
    adjusting the frame rate.
I started playing around with my Internet Security Settings to see if they
might be playing a role. So far, all to no avail.
Hmm...quite a tricky one - webcams always are - maybe if he can find a way
to adjust the frame rate (?).
He's going to fiddle about with the settings a bit more and see if
    something does the trick.
If anyone has had a similar problem and found an ingenious solution,
please jot on a note on this thread.

  • Adobe Connect Desktop - just doesn't download recordings any more...

    Hi all,
Has anyone had issues since the upgrade of this?
I have made the recordings downloadable in all places thru the adobce connect admin area, but when using the desktop client evcewn though i am able to search for the file i am not however able to download it.
The recording does appear in the download queue but does not initiate. This is just unacceptable.
Part of the service is to be able to playback the meeting recordings and while i know i can do this online, it would also be useful to USE ADOBE'S PRODUCTS TO VIEW ADOBE'S BESPOKE RECORDINGS (Since they are not available in any other downloadable format, wouldn't midn so much if it just worked for once without issues.)
Add this to the whole "Adobe Presenter - the worlds most unstable and bugged out piece of software ever"
Come on Adobe, whats happening to your stuff?!?

Adobe Connect Desktop is no longer supported with Connect 9. However, it should still work. Also, be sure that the recording has been set to allow local downloads.

  • Adobe Connect 9 on premises: how to give public access to a meeting recording?

We are using Adobe Connect 9 Pro on premises.  We record meetings.  Is there any way to make the meeting available to public viewers without forcing a logon?  Thanks.

Thanks very much for your offer.  Here is a link, and I believe it will ask you to log in:

I have tried to install it during the Connect session.  I have also tried to download and install separately.    I have disabled anti-virus each time.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash and the Connect Add-in.
This happens on IE11 and Chrome with the add-in installed.
    Any ideas?

  • Adobe Connect 8 - Recordings

    Hello,
I need help understanding the Universal Voice Solution or a comparable substitute for a situation I am in with adobe connect 8.  I am trying to basically learn how I can sync up an audio recording from a teleconference with a web cast recording from Adobe Connect.  Can you advise on how this might be done?  Below is a link I found on recording meetings.
From a business perspective, I am hosting a conference with my company’s teleconference subscription, while presenting a PowerPoint through adobe connect.  What is the best way to record this event?

The Universal Voice option would probably be the best way to do it. How it works, is you give Connect the information on dialing into your phone bridge and it calls in and is a participant on your phone bridge. It then can record anything it hears.
To set it up star in your My Profile link available at the top right hand side of any page on the server. Then you will need to set up a new audio provider under My Audio Providers, then associate it with your account in the My Audio Profiles. You can then associate the UV set up with a meeting room at the bottom of the Edit Information tool. This walks throuhg the steps of setting up the UV for your account. Not that the admin setup is the same as the My Audio Providers setup, the difference being that only you see the profile in your setup, while everyone can see and use the one setup on the Admin side. http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/11/uv_admin_setup/

  • Is Adobe Connect a good way?

I have to give a course to 100 people (or even a bit more). Is Adobe Connect a good choice? Does it support so many users simultaneously following the same person?
    Many thanks for your help!
    alb

Adobe Connect Meetings are intended to support up to 100 concurrent attendees (you count as one, so think of it as you and 99 others), while the Seminar or Webinar rooms are able to handle 200-1500 concurrent attendees.
Is it a good choice? Many people think so, and I have had good success over the years of reaching groups large and small with Connect. Most of the time, it is done with little to no issue, as all that is required is that the attendee has a reasonably current version of FlashPlayer and Internet access. Many times it comes down to personal preference of the tool available, and functions/workflows within that tool. I may be a bit bias, but I would say it is a good tool.

  • Recording control with the Adobe Connect mobile ap

In the Adobe Connect mobile ap, I do not see that it allows you to start (and end) the meeting recording?  This is one critical hosting feature that I do not see supported. Am I missing it?

More host functions are expected to to be available in future releases of the Connect Mobile app. As of now, I don't believe there is the ability to start/stop recordings in the mobile app.

  • Viewing video recording that I have downloaded off of Adobe Connect 8

    Good Day
I have an Adobe Connect recording (of a training that took place), that I want to make available off line. I can view the recording via Adobe's Media player but the learners do not have the media player.
I then went to Adobe's Website to download the latest version. On the home page (middle right), one can see a section "Download", I clicked the "More" button (to the right of "Download"), but nothing.
I eventually found info on Adobe's Media Player, BUT it is not good i.e. it says that they do not support it anymore.
That is a bummer.... where to from here? How do I get my learners to view an FLV file?
Then to make matters worse I opened the video clip in Adobe Premeir only to find out that it does not import the audio. I then imported it into Adobe Media Encoder (to convert it to a wmv). No luck. It seems to leave the audio out all the time.
Anybody out there able to answer these two questions?
    Dimitri

You can easily go to Adobe Connect Central and access the recordings page for the room that was used to make the recording. You can then select make offline. Once you select that Adobe Connect Host Add-in will launch and will require that the entire meeting be played. While it is playing it is making a local copy on your local hard drive as a single FLV file. That FLV file can be played using Adobe Media Player that comes with the Adobe Creative Suite. You can also play FLV files with many free players by using Google to search for free FLV players. Your choose on that. The other option is to use file converters from FLV to any other format you desire. There are free video file converters and some for pay. Your choice on that one. Again...Google search for video converters. I convert from FLV to MOV or AVI or M4V all the time. Then you can send out the video file in any format that matches your customer/student player.

  • Issues with playback in Adobe Connect 8

I am a new user to Adobe Connect 8. I just created my first meeting
yesterday. I was able to hear the playback myself, but when I sent the
link provided to another e-mail, I was unable to hear the sound from the
link ( I see all the slides, which run through in 5 second intervals),
the sound is at maximum level on both the playback and on my computer.
The second issue I have is that I have received two messages-one e-mail
"You may be at risk of running out of seats for Adobe Connect. In
particular, your account (name = QUESTAR III20120321093023) quota for
Authors has exceeded the threshold of 80% usage on Thursday 16 August
2012, 08:43 AM. This means you used at least 80% of your 5 available
seats.  You may want to consider adding more seats to your account".
Do you have any suggestions for this? I added 4 other colleagues who
will need to have access to utilize Adobe Connect in the future-should I
only add them when they need to be the moderator/host?
I have watched many of the video tutorials, which were helpful but I am
trying to trouble shoot this in quick fashion as I have been asked to
turn key train this for staff.

Thank you for clarifying the Author license usage. Since I am new to this, publishing Content to the Connect server-that is for copyright purposes? Is that a “cloud based” server that allows us access (I am assuming it was part of the purchase). I have moved all 4 people to the Meeting Host group now-thank you for that clarification.
I have just found out where the link for viewing/listening is: it is located in the recordings section and I am able to click on and listen in the Adobe Presenter
Here is the link that I used for that: https://questar.adobeconnect.com/_a1134876945/p9lnerpx15j/
Thank you again for your help. The 219 page document for Adobe 8 is so large, I have such specific questions that I needed to ask.

  • What happened to my Adobe Connect room?

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post, but I can't find anywhere else!  I keep getting an error message saying my Adobe Connect room is down for maintenance. I thought it was going away in December, but not now??  I sure hope you guys are not charging me for use for the last few weeks!   Please let me know what's going on. Thank you!

Adobe ConnectNow is no longer available. It was originally slated for decomissioning in December, 2012, but we left it up several weeks longer to ease the transition to Adobe Connect.
I'm not sure why you are getting a message that it's down for maintenance; I will investigate as that is not accurate.  When I try to go to my old ConnectNow room, I am seeing this:
    Connection reset by peer
If you had a PAID subscription to Acrobat.com, then you should have been sent instructions for using your one-year free account for Adobe Connect.

  • Can we connect a Cisco videoconference system to adobe connect?

One of our participants wnt to use his own CISCO C20 videoconferencing system as a source for better video quality. Is it possible to connect Cisco C20 with Adobe Connect and if "Yes", what are the technical advices for the connection.
    Best regards,
    Martin

If you have an on-premise deployment of Adobe Connect you could see if you could configure to the Cisco system to work through the VTC integration, Configure FMG for a video telephony device. However, the Cisco C20 is not one of the supported systems, so it may or may not work.
If you are on a hosted deployment, then you don't have the above option. You could get the video/audio feed into a computer and display it in the Video pod. This may not improve the video quality as the Video pod is limited to its preset resolutions (up to 240p) and frame rates. You may also need to use DVdriver to get a Windows computer to recognize your video input as a webcam.
Third option would be to explore using one of the external video pods available here, Adobe Connect | Apps. You will likely need to do some setup outside of Connect to get them to work, but it could be worth exploring. There are two there that may work: TalkingStick and tecRacer VideoPlayer.
