Adobe Designer "Submit by Email" problem...

I am creating a form to be Submitted by Email as an attached PDF file. The process works fine throughout, but when the Outlook New Email window is presented with the attached PDF file, pre-filled in for the Mailto: field, I hit the SEND button with no result... no error, no send, nothing... I have found that sometimes if I hit SEND multiple times in succession it sends out OK... anyone know what is the problem?

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but your post relates to a question that I have.
I finally finished my form, and I designed it for e-mail submission. However, when I try to open the file and submit view e-mail, I can only submit an XML file which must be imported into a PDF. I need to submit a filled-out PDF, without having to import anything. Any ideas?
PS, it sounds your problem revolves more around Outlook than designer. Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express. You may first try loading the latest service packs and updates for Office (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx). If you're using Office 2003, it was quite problematic before Office 2003 SP2. Also, if your file is quite large, it may be an upload issue.

Submit by Email problem

I created a form with "submit by email" button. When I click on the button it opens into my email just fine, but the email address is listed twice. I checked the object information and the address is only entered once. Can anyone help?

Before you go too far on the on e-mail submission, what is the purpose of the form in terms of distribution and are you having the PDF or the data submitted. The PDF is an issue, as is e-mail submission itself. They both have problems and more information is needed before you bother with completing what you are trying to do.
As far as the link, it should be only listed 1 time in the submit button icon.

Adobe form submit by email not working in Safari

I created a form in Acrobat and set it up for the data to be returned in pdf by email. I had to do this b/c the receiver doesn't have acrobat. I am hearing from the user that submit by email button doesn't work in Safari (the user was able to get it to work in IE). Is there something I need to do to my form or does the user need to do something in Safari?

E-mail submission is client sensitive (this even occurs with HTML forms that use mailto). In Acrobat or Reader on Windows, it uses the default MAPI mail client (if one exists - one of the problems). I have no idea what the requirement is on a MAC, but probably something similar. You need to figure out how to do a web submission to resolve the problems.

Submit problem using Adobe Designer 7.0 form & GroupWise email

We are designing an interactive form using Adobe Designer 7.0, and would like for other people in the organization to be able to fill in the form electronically then hit the "Submit by Email" to return the data.
For email, we are using Novell GroupWise.
Problems are occurring once the recipient of the form selects the "Send Data File" button. This action either causes Adobe to crash, or causes an error message, "Acrobat is unable to connect to your email program."
Can anyone help? Is anyone successfully using this function with GroupWise email?

I don't really have a solution for you - perhaps the following may be of use though:
Try reinstalling Designer 7 and ensure that at the point where you are asked about your e-mail client that you tell it that you are using GroupWise.
You may like to see if you can send an e-mail using the same method that we employ.
This is the script we use on the 'click' event of a button that sends an e-mail with the form attached (via GroupWise) to the e-mail address as specified ("[email protected]" in the example below).

Submit by email function on adobe reader

I'm trying to apply for a job using an online application on the company's website. The company uses adobe reader. After filling out all the information I click on the submit by email button and get a message saying, "please on enter numerical data for your DOB, etc 01/01/2005 should be entered as 01012005." This is frustrating because I am entering the information as the program asks. After entering my DOB in purely numerical form Adobe adds "/"es after I click on another box. Furthermore, a friend of has successfully filled out the data and submitted the form. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am having a similar issue to one that has already been posted.
When an email message gets created, the following message appears alongside the email address,
The attached file contains data that was entered into a form. It is not the form itself.
The recipient of this data file should save it locally with a unique name. Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 or later can process this data by importing it back into the blank form or creating a spreadsheet from several data files. See Help in Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 for more details.
Do I need to be concerned about this? Will the email still work? Our customers will be using this form to register for an event, so I don't want to send it out if it does not function properly.
FYI...I am using Designer 7.0.

Livecycle Designer 8 - Is it possible to have button to clear fields after user has clicked submit by email button so user can reuse form to send another response with different answers?

Users will use form to fill in stats for enquiries so they want to keep form open, complete a form, click button to submit by email, then click another button to clear form, form now ready to accept form's responses. They dont' want to keep opening form each time form needs to be completed.

Thanks for your response, not sure what you mean by a loop. I put together
a draft form to show staff in our Knowledge Centre the sort of thing
Livecycle Designer can do.

They are currently writing out on form and manually putting into excel to
keep stats on the requests.
Due to current Global Financial Crisis my section does not want to spend
extra money at the moment seeking assistance from our tech heads. So we
are looking for least work no expense option for keeping stats. I am a PA
who just happens to have Livecycle program on my computer.
We use Lotus Notes so I thought the staff could save copy of Library
request form in the stationery folder. The staff using the form want to be
able to do the following:
1. open the Library request form at the beginning of the day;
2. when a request comes in, complete the form and click on Send by email
button
3. click on a Clear Data button to clear all data from all fields so the
form is open ready for when the next request comes in.
Staff are time poor and, as this is only one of their numerous duties, they
don't want to keep going to a location and opening a file which can be very
slow on some days
Each day form may be filled out by approximately 15 staff who may receive
anything from 0 - 4 requests a day.
I am not a tech head so script writing is a deep, dark mystery. Can you
help using the form above as an example for achieving step 3 above.

if i understand this correctly, you just want everything cleared whena
buttons is pressed?
you can either do it individually:
on button click:
mytextField.rawData=""
or do a loop, using child/paretns..

Submit by Email won't work with Adobe Reader 6

I have created a form that must be submitted back to our corporate offices, the problem is the people it is being sent to may be running Adobe Reader 6. When I try to use the submit by email button in version 6 nothing happens. The form works fine in the newer Adobe. Any help saving this to work for the older version would be great. Thanks!

You have enable Reader Rights with Acrobat 8 Professional (prior versions will not work), pay a 3rd party or buy Adobe's server product.

Question + Adobe Design Premium CS3 Problem

Question:
When I boot up Leopard after the grey apple logo loading screen it will turn to the blue screen then directly to my desktop. In tiger it would go to the blue screen then you would see a window with a loading bar. Did they remove that in Leopard because I don't see it, it just goes directly from the blue screen to my desktop.
Adobe Design Premium Problem:
I installed Adobe Design Premium CS3, I got some functionality problems so I deleted it from my Applications folder to re-install the trial software as I was in a hurry to get InDesign working because I had an assignment due. When I tried to install InDesign CS3, it would tell me during the installation that I can't install it because of "Adobe InDesign CS3". I am assuming that it still thinks that InDesign CS3 is installed? I made sure that I had deleted all the Adobe software from my computer. It did this with my other applications too when using my CD to install Design Premium again. It's like I'm locked out of installing it? I've heard of other people having the same problem.
Any suggestions?

If there isn't an answer, it usually means other users don't know the answer.
As far as the Adobe suite goes, there are two steps to deleting the suite. The first is deactivating it (I think that's on the Help menu), and the second is running the installer with the Uninstall option so that all of the files it installs in various places are removed. Is that how you did it, or did you just throw files in the Trash? If you trashed them manually, there are probably pieces left behind that are getting in the way.
That is all I know about that one. For potentially much more information, you should drop by the Adobe user forums, where there should be many more users with direct experience with the Adobe-specific install/uninstall issues. Try clicking on the "Creative Suite" forum there.

Problem launching Adobe Designer in Netweaver Developer Studio

Hi All,
I have successfully (I believe) installed all the components required to have Adobe Interactive Forms running on WAS 6.40 (SR1), in accordance with Achim Hauk's blog 'My struggles with the Adobe Document Services in WAS6.40' (thanks Achim!).
When I go to try the Interactive Form tutorial, and I launch the Adobe Designer 6.0 from Netweaver Developer Studio (version 2.0.9) by right-clicking on my InteractiveForms UI element and selecting 'Edit', I get a popup error 'An error occurred decoding Base64 data - encoded data is invalid or corrupted'. Does anyone know what this means and how to correct it? When I press the OK button on this popup the Adobe Designer is correctly launched, however any changes I make within the Designer don't seem to be saved.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Not sure if it makes any difference, but I have Adobe Reader 6.0.2 installed on my client.

Hi John,
I've installed the SP15 sneak preview last weekend. Based on my experience, if you are not using SSL set up, you only need three steps to set up ADS.
1. Create user ADSUser and user group ADSGroup
2. Set up basic authentication
3. Set up credential file
Now, step 1 and 2 which is in the guide is already done when you finish the installation of sneak preview SP15. All you have to do is to set up credential file.
I was having problem with Read timed out issue, and Markus pointed that web service time out need to be increased in my case. I haven't tested it yet since I am away from my PC, but i'm pretty sure it will fix the time out problem.
Also if you download the credential a while back, that file will expired the end of this month (Feb). Markus has posted a new credential file which will expire in June.

VERY URGENT - Adobe forms with email problems

Problem installing Adobe Designer

Hi,
When i install NWDS 7.0 version , it is not showing the option for installing Adobe Desingner .
In older versions of NWDS we had to click one check box at the time of installation for activating and installing adobe designer .
Because of this i am not able to open adobe designer .Can anybody suggest how to solve this problem .

Definitely works ok from pc.
Have deleted and re-established account a few times now but still the same.
I have actually given up and added gmail account which is working fine.
Sends and receives no problem.
Bloody bigpond....
We are not remote at all. Sitting in the fantastic Pavilion Hotel in Phnom Penh. Another couple here having trouble but not bigpond. Hotel staff have tried to help but to no avail.
Giving up and stick with gmail until we get home then start trying to get resolution.
Problem actually existed on a personal wi fi network in Melbourne before we left so I should have tried to resolve it then.

Submit by Email - asks "as a link or an attachment"

Have designed a form in Acrobat that we want our customers to fill out and return to us via email by clicking on a button.
We have created a button that has the submit by email function.
We have enabled reader rights on the document.
However, when we click the button, the user gets a screen asking:
"How would you like to email this document?
Send a link (URL) to the original, unmodified pdf file on the web?
Send a copy of the pdf file, including your changes, as an attachment?"
All we want to happen is the last option: Send a copy of the pdf file. Is there a setting somewhere that we can tag to skip the scenario above and just proceed to open Outlook and attach the pdf as a file.

Apparently this happens if the client is using a webmail client.
If Outlook is the default, Outlook creates a new email with the form as an attachment without a problem.
Not sure about OE or other email clients.
Due to the number of people using webmail, I would be cautious about using the "send as email" function in Adobe.
