Adobe Encore AC3 question

Does anyone have any experience with Adobe's AC3 encoder - is it comparable to Apcak in terms of normalizing and mastering audio tracks...thanks.

Maskio.
What did you use to create the AC3 files?
I use this all the time - as in on a daily basis - in EncoreDVD and have no trouble at all playing back the imported Dolby Digital files.
There are 2 things that instantly leap to mind here:
1 - Non compliant AC3 files, created with garbage like BeSweet or similar.
2 - Conflicting filters installed to your system, for example the "AC3filter" being set up incorrectly.
My guess is that you have one of these problems - or both.
DTS audio is supported in passthrough mode. This is made clear in the manuals, and the Audio has to be prepared outside of Encore - or you cannot check the encodes.
Checking for Audio/Video sync should be a simple matter - and is NOT something that should be done using EncoreDVD - it should be done in the POST process. This is the usual way that authoring applications work.

  • Trying to use Adobe Encore to create a manual advance keynote BD-ISO

    Hi All,
    Background:
I'm a media designer that produces corporate media content for a recruiting firm.
    Objective:
I'm  trying to devise a way for presenters in our sales offices to run  standardized group interview and training HD keynote shows without the use of a DVD player or a laptop on their LCD screens.
Laptops=  every manager needs an apple computer and keynote software to run the  content + its messy to have to manage wired connections to the mounted  LCD panels all the time.
DVD Players= any updates that  are required to this content from time to time make the idea of  re-shipping physical DVD's logistically undesirable.
    Proposed Solution:
Perminently  integrate a BD-ISO (menu) compatible HD media player into our office  setups that will run manual advance Keynote BD-ISO's (created in Encore)  where any new updates can just be downloaded from a central server in  the form of a Blu-ray master iso image by the end-user, dropped on their  USB flash drive, and played through the media player.
Here's the workflow I've come up with (Problem to follow):
    1. Design a 1280x720 keynote presentation in Apple iWork's Keynote '09
    2. Export a timed (Intervals: 5 sec/between each slide & 2 sec/between each object animation) h.264 | 1280x720 | 29.97 quicktime .mov file
    3. Create Blu Ray Encore Project (1280x720, h.264, 29.97)
    4. Import .mov file as timeline
    5. Insert chapter markers at the beggining of every animation/transition (On diagram below- I'm talking about Ch. 3 & 5)
    6. Insert a second chapter marker directly before each of the  previous set of chapter markers as close together as encore will allow (On diagram below- I'm talking about Ch. 2 & 4)
    7. Set "end action" on each of the second set of chapter points (Ch. 2 & 4 below) to "Link back to here" so that the still image hold that occures after each "keynote animation" (thanks to the 2 sec hold time I set in the Keynote export- see step 2 above) is isolated so the playback loops on that chapter (which is a still frame because of the 2 sec pause between animations as set in keynote export).
Note on this technique: Idea is to set up the timeline and chapter end actions so that the playback loops on a few identical frames that exist between the two "extremely-close-together" chapter points (creating a "pause" effect) until the end user hits "Next Chapter" button on remote to jump to the proceeding chapter that contains the next keynote animation or tranistion.
    Diagram:
    (timeline->    ...---------------Ch.2<-- -->Ch.3(beggining of  animation)-------------------------------------(end of animation)Ch.4<-- -->Ch.5------------------------->)
    8. Set "First Play," "Title Button," and "Timeline End Action" to Ch.1  of the timeline (so it starts there when ISO is activated and loops  back to there at the end of the presentation).
    9. Export as "Blu-ray" Image
    10. Load iso file on a USB flash drive, plug it into BD-ISO (menu) supported media player, and run the ISO and Voila!! = HD Keynote presentation running from BD-ISO file on a media player. PERFECT SOLUTION....
    PROBLEM:
One of the most marketable (due to affordable price-point) BD-ISO (full menu support) media players is the HDX BD1. When I run the ISO file on this unit, it will play the first chapter, and pause and loop on chapter 2 like it is supposed to, creating the pause effect; But when I select "next chapter" it says "cannot_execute"- and I cannot proceed to the next transition/animation. I've previewed the setup in the encore preview feature and it behave's perfectly.
I'd be quick to say its a hardware issue but I've checked out several YouTube videos with people demoing this exact media player running and navigating feature film BD-ISO's (selecting "next chapter" and all) without any issues at all.
I've mastered something similar to this technique using DVDSP on SD DVD's, because DVDSP allows me to infinitley pause playpack ON each chapter point, not even needing the use of the "loop" feature I've set up in encore; But Adobe Encore doesn't offer a "pause" end action so I've come up with this as the next best thing. Although it doesn't play back properly on a full BD-ISO NAVI supported media player.
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Based on this setup, is there anything obvious I'm missing in Adobe Encore that would eleviate this playback problem on the media player?
    2. Is there another authoring workflow within Encore that would allow me to acheive Keynote motion graphic, manual-advance slideshows?
    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi Chad,
The most probable explanation is that Encore is creating incorrect navigation commands. It is well known and documented that Encore Blu-ray navigation works only for the simplest cases.
This should be easy to fix using BluStreak Tracer, Rivergate Software's upcoming post-authoring solution:
    http://blustreak.dvdafteredit.com/blustreak-tracer-macintosh
If you will prepare a small test case (1 GB or less) and post it on an FTP server, I will take a look and attempt to update it for you. You can contact me through our web site's contact page.

  • "Adobe encore a cessé de fonctionner" (Adobe Encore has stopped working)

    English version below
    Bonjour,
    Hi everyone,
I've had an issue since I installed Premiere Pro CS6 and Encore CS6 on my laptop.
Premiere Pro won't work, which is no surprise given my lame GPU, but Encore won't work.
In fact, when I launch it, Encore lauches in about 5 seconds and then it opens, a window pops up with 3 options : create a new file or project (cant remember the name), open a file or check the news related to Encore.
But Encore wont let me create a file : it crashes whenever I try and since I have no .enc file on my computer (first time user), I can't check the 'open file' option. The third choice does nothing but open a tab with adobe website on Google Chrome.
Please help in any way you can, I'm running out of patience here and don't know what to do !
    Tristan

Premiere Pro won't work, which is no surprise given my lame GPU,
This must be fixed.  The GPU only affects playback, not whether the program works.
Encore wont let me create a file : it crashes whenever I try

  • PS3 (Playstation 3) issue not loading BDR Bluray | Adobe Encore CS6

I recently created a Bluray using Adobe Encore CS6, and the Bluray is not loading on my PS3, but is working fine on my other player (LG, Toshiba and PC).  Does anyone have the same issue and found a solution?  I need help on this as most of my client use their PS3 as Bluray player.
Authoring program: Adobe Encore CS6 with the Creative Cloud latest update
PS3 with latest firmware update (PS+ member with auto-update: on)
Video files: 1920x1080 FPS 23.976 Program Stream MPEG-2 for Bluray *.m2v (transcode with FCP Compressor)
Audio files: Dolby Digital Audio *.ac3
    Burner software: CyberLink Power2Go V6
Burner hardware: HP BD Writer bd340i
    Media: Verbatim BD-R 25GB 6x Speed
    Project size: 20/25GB
The project setting in CS6 is: Blu-ray NTSC with MPEG-2 Codec at 1920x1080 at 23.976FPS
The “Check Project” shows no error.  I build (output) as an image, then burn the *.ISO file using CyberLink Power2Go.
The BD-R work fine everywhere (LG & Toshiba player) except on my PS3.  The BD-R has the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folder, so I don’t know why my PS3 don’t recognize it.  And I have three PS3 at home; 1xPS3 80GB version (3yrs old) and 2xPS3 super slim (1yr old).  All three are unable to see the BD-R.  My PS3 work fine with all other media (games & movie Bluray); and I highly doubt that all three have trouble with the Bluray player.
I did the same process last time (in 2013) and everything is working fine, all the same configuration, except I used Adobe Encore CS4.  My PS3 was able to read and recognize the BD-R.  But since CS6, my PS3 don’t see the BD-R.  I also put back the copy that I did last year with CS4 (just to make sure that is not a PS3 firmware issue) and the Bluray work fine.  The media (Verbatim) come from the same tower (leftover from last year).
So everything point toward CS6…is there something that change from CS4 to CS6 for Bluray creation? Jumping from Encore CS4 to CS6, I don’t see anything different, but look like there is, because the Bluray can no longer be played on my PS3.  Please help!

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help

  • Adobe encore the software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. installing the correct decoders for the file you are working with may help correct the problem

    Hi,
I got this message after importing about ten or so H.264 files that I encoded from Adobe media encoder.  "adobe encore the software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. installing the correct decoders for the file you are working with may help correct the problem."
The files we're shot with HD cameras.  Edited in Premiere Pro CS3.  I installed the update 3.0.1 with still the same error.
I also tried a brand new project and after about ten or so files being imported into a timeline, the system crash.  I tried this twice....
        Thanks in Advance

    Hi Hunt,
Here is the skinny.  A window base PC.  footage shot with HD sony HD cameras,  Project imported to Premiere CS3.  Once completed sent file to Adobe media encoder and render them as H.264 widescreen high Quality.  Imported them to Adobe Encore CS3.  After about ten files or so.  I got the error message.  Did all the basic trouble shoot like restarting the computer, got latest patch.  Even build a new test project with the same problem.
Something else I read in the forums, is the encore will transcoded the project to Mpeg 2 anyway, after looking at my project I realized those few files were indeed untranscoded.  So it will be a double compression and I dont want that.  So, my new question is, what is H.264 good for ?????????? I was research that Mpeg 2 is a faster render but H.264 is a slower render but better quality.....
       what do you think ????

  • Locating Adobe Encore in Adobe Creative Cloud?

As a member of Adobe Creative Cloud, I have access to all of the programs to download and use (well, at least I thought I did).  I am unable to locate the Adobe "Encore" program from my list of downloadable programs, and yet, Adobe advertises this program on their website.  I am trying to burn my home made, Full HD videos that I created in Adobe Premiere onto a blu-ray disc and I have been told that Encore has this capability.  Does anyone know how I can go about locating Adobe Encore within the Creative Cloud center to download, or at the very least, some alternative method?
    Thank you.

You install Premiere Pro CS6 and the bundled Encore CS6 is also installed

  • Creating Blu-Ray DVD with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Encore

    Hi all,
I am one of many with troubles creating a blu-ray DVD using Mac software. Sounds like the best way to do this is to do all of the editing in Final cut and create the DVD in Adobe Encore. Is there a way to export to Adobe Encore or should I just create a .mov file and import that to Encore. That way I think I lose the HD quality. I read that I could compress to Blu-ray format in Compressor, but I can only find HD DVD which is different. When I select create a Blu-Ray disc, Compressor won't simply create the file on my computer...it wants the disc to create.
Maybe I am a little to new at this to fully understand, but why in the heck doesn't Apple get with the times and create a DVD authoring program that makes Blu-Ray?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have just completed my first blu-ray disc using FCP7 and Adobe encore. My workflow, once the timeline was complete, was to go to File>share>choose blu-ray as destination >export. The default encoding is H.264 along with an ac3 file for audio. It took 3 hours and 35 minutes to encode the 1hr 26 minute file.
Opening encore, confirming you settings for HD, and choosing file>import>as asset each of the files (separately, of course). Encore imports them, then under Timeline>create new, then drag the files to the timeline. CLick on the build button and you are there. I did not mention that my original render was Prores422, but that should not matter here. No trouble with burning the Verbatim 25Gb disc.
Encore will recognize that these files do not need re-encoding and burn the disc. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to burn a 1 hour and 26 minute (17+ Gb) movie on an i7 iMac with an OWC 12x BD burner.
    Hope that helps

  • Adobe Encore CS6 crashes upon opening; just downloaded Premiere CC

I just installed Adobe Premiere Pro CC on my PC, and I need Encore to author DVD and Blu-Rays.  I previously had CS6 (uninstalled it all before I installed CC), but I did not re-install Adobe Encore CS6 until after I installed Premiere CC.  I cannot get Adobe Encore to work now.  After I create a filename, the program crashes with a pop-up window that says, "Adobe Encore has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
How do I get Encore CS6 to work after installing the latest Premiere Pro CC (version 8)?
Since Encore is no longer supported, what other option do I have to author DVDs and Blu-Rays?

  • Adobe Encore - Background Video Rendering & 'Photoshop File Error - 1'

Hi, I am having serious problems with Adobe Encore at the moment, and really need help fast.
I am currently making a DVD project where:
I have used Photoshop to create the buttons (It's just the two buttons/options created in groups with the text and their highlights. There is no background).
Once that was done, I created a spearate animation in After Effects that allowed images to change from one to the next.
I exported this as an MPEG so that it could be inserted as a background video in Encore.
So I went back to Encore, inserted the buttons and my background video, created the motion properties so that the video would play behind the buttons (and I did the same for audio). Then I went to preview it, and clicked 'render' and it wouldn't! It just pops up 'Photoshop File Error-1'.
I read that other people have the same problem and have tried editing the psd with the buttons, but still nothing has helped!!!
    Can someone please help me??
I would really appreciate it. Thank You
By the way, I am using MAC OS X Version 10.9.2 (Mavericks), if that matters.

    >alert them to the problem, and fix it?
Will never be fixed... CS6 is done
CS6 is the final Encore http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/faq.html

That would be a question to ask Apple, or in an Apple forum

  • Where is adobe encore?

    where is adobe encore?

Excellent question. I was gonna tell you "go to https://creative.adobe.com/fr/products/category/audiovideo and download the cs6 version" but it's not there.
Good news is, you might still find it here : http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html but (i think) it's hidden in the Production Suite CS6 download (i let you give it a try to the 5GB dl… please come back here to confirm it's included)

  • Encore libraries question

    Greetings all:
I have an interesting question...or at least I think it is...after I did a full install of Encore CS4 in my Encore libraries folder all the proper folders appear there for the "canned" templates, except that all the files are .PRTL files or .PRSL files, and these are Premiere Pro files...and I cannot view them in Encore in the Library tab because Encore does not recognize them. I am stuck and would love some help here...in the Encore libraries tab I can use the drop down and see all of the folders that are in the libraries directory...just no "canned" items are listed.

All the questions that Karl are bringing up are exactly the same for me...which is why I originally posted. But I have done a few other things since Bill last posted, but I will start from the beginning and detail where I am now...
    1. I first installed from Discs, like Karl...there was no option to choose anything specific to denote templates that would or would not be placed into the install...when I seledcted Encore it simply checked several other boxes in the install that Encore needed to work properly...I selected to install, when install finished I noted that I had no library templates at all.
    2. I then did the online update which then enable Encore "Resource Central", but still no templates were displayed. I looked at several posts on the forums and found that the folder path should be "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Encore CS4"...there was no such folder path. I then went to Resource central and downloaded several of the online templates...then looked for the above listed directory path, and it still did not exist...I assume they place the "Resource Central" templates in a different place (probably username area).
    3. I went back and re-installed Encore from the disc...and did checked the templates...and something weird happened...it appeared to have the complete library structure that was necessary, I was excited...however that was quickly dispelled when I looked in those template folders under the Encore directory Library I quickly noticed that they were all Premiere Pro templates...how the heck that happened I will never know. I then posted here again about this and Bill was in the process of responding to that.
    4. I then went back and uninstalled everything...used the clean up utility from Adobe, rebooted, and then reinstalled from scratch. Again, I was never able to select any install box that would denote templates, when I selected the Encore choice it automatically selected several other necessary files for that install to properly happen. I again allowed it to installed and checked Encore...no luck, the library structure was no longer there, just like in step 1...and after the online update, there were still no templates.
So, now, I am completely frustrated, because I have no way to determine how to load these templates from the disc. I have searched everyplace on the disc and nowhere does it allow me to install extra Encore content. I have searched every .EXE file to see if it indicates how to get this...I am stumped...and at this point perhaps someone could just post the templates somewhere so I can get them...no harm in doing this because you cannot use them unless you have the product, and if you have the product you should have these templates...I just dont and I dont know what to do now????

  • ???Adobe Encore vs. DVD Studio Pro???

    Hello dear Encore-forum users ;-)
I've been working with DVD Studio Pro for nine years now and never had ANY trouble with it,
no crashes, no errors, no funny behaviour of DVDs, just smooth and clean!
The only draw-back right now unfortunately is that DVD Studio Pro can't author BluRay-Discs!
But our clients are starting to demand this more and more!
So I was looking around and Adobe Encore OR Scenarist from Sonic seem to be the choice!
Now when I looked through the forum here, I was surprised how many people report lots of
crashes, unpredictable behaviours and all sorts of errors and/or bugs which gave me doubts
about ENCORE. So my question is:
Can some of you guys tell me something about your experience with ENCORE? Is it something
you would recommend? If yes, WHY? Is BluRay-authoring fine or full with problems? Can it do
Multi-Angle and/or Mixed-Angle-Tracks? Can you incorporate other files like PDFs, JPEGs,
.doc-Files etc etc and have them open directly out of the DVD-Menu when you press a button?
(In DVD Studio Pro you have the DVD@ccess-option). What would you guys say would be the
reasons to choose Encore over DVD Studio Pro? (Please no MAC- / PC-bashing since the end
result counts; a fully functional DVD!)
I'm very curious to read your answers, since it will help us to decide which system we'll switch to!
Until then I wish you all pleasant (and successful) authoring and happy clients ;-))))
    Cheers,
    Steven R

    Steven,
I agree with Jeff, that Jon's site would be the place to start.
Also, I think that you'll find very little platform bias here. Now, there are probably many more users on PC, as Encore was PC-only for several iterations, until CS3 went X-platform. That said, the only time that Mac really comes up is when its particular OS might cause something in Encore to fail. Many of the questions get answered, with no indication of the platform being made. I think that I can say that in many years here, I have never read a negative comment against either platform. Also, we probe many of the PC OS's, if they are contributing to errors, etc. The vast majority of subscribers here are just professionals, trying to get our (and other user's) Projects out the door. We don't care if you drive up in a Yugo, or in a Bently (no platform references intended - maybe I should say if you drive up in a Maybach, or a Bently).
I'd offer my positive observations on Encore, but they would be moot, as I am not doing BD, and am using an older version - that will not help you make your decision.
Good luck, and please report what you gather, and on which program you decide. That info might help others (even if they go with a competitor) down the line.
    Hunt
PS - welcome to the forum.

Hi. I can't seem to be able to burn DVDs in Adobe Encore. 'Access Denied' is the error that keeps popping up. I imported the mpeg file as a timeline and transcoded it successfully. • DVD Studio Pro vs. Adobe Encore

    Hi folks!
I've been working now with DVDSP for nine years and it ALWAYS did a perfect job, no crashes, no bugs, no strange behaviour on burned discs, no trouble importing .txt-files for subtitles; really a perfect piece of software with awesome opportunities!!!
The ONLY thing that bugs me is it's incapability of authoring Blu-Ray and we're
getting more and more clients asking for this! So my boss told me to look around and find out which application can author Blu-Rays.
I came across Adobe Encore and Sonic's Scenarist. On the Encore-forums there
seems to be a lot of complaints about crashes, bugs, strange behaviour etc. So I'm kinda wondering if that would be the right tool. Or have you guys heard different (positive) things about Encore???
My Question: what do YOU do, when faced with Blu-Ray? I know, Final Cut has an option to turn/burn the content of the timeline into a Blu-Ray-Disc. But you of course have no complex authoring options like scripts and stories. And most of all, you can't view the disc on a MAC (yet)!
So how do you guys deal with Blu-Ray-Jobs?
Ever since HD DVD was "killed", I was waiting for Apple to announce Blu-Ray capabilities for DVD Studio Pro!!! I really hope they won't miss out on it!!!
Let me know what you think, please. This would be very interesting for all DVD Studio Pro users, I guess
    Until then, happy authoring!
    Cheers,
    Steven R.

Encore is useless for BD. You want to look at Netblender's tool:

  • Adobe Encore 1.5 DVD disc reading issues in DVD Duplicator

    Hello All,
I'm wondering if anyone has ever had the experience I'm having and if they might have a solution. I produce a weekly 1 hour music video program for public access cable TV. The show is bicycled to 15 different locations on DVD. I use Adobe Premiere and Encore the capture, edit and burn the completed program to DVD. I recently purchased a DVD duplicator tower (1 to 5 disc) to speed up the time it takes me to make the 15 copies I need. However, I have encountered an issue that I believe is related to Adobe Encore 1.5; when I put the completed master DVD into the duplicator, the duplicator is unable to read the disc. I know the disc (discs - I've tried several different shows on different DVDs with different types of blank DVD brands) is playable in the PC and on several standalone DVD players. Also, we get no complaints from the 15 stations that play our discs. At this time I'm stuck making 1 copy at a time in Encore. I know that the duplicator works as I have been able to test and successfully duplicate other DVDs and CD's that are not copy protected without issue. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If I need to provide more information let me know?

Some notes/ideas here that may help
    To
Burn Error Proof DVDs (Well, close to error proof!)
Use the SLOWEST possible burn option your burner will allow in Encore, since it is much better to take a bit more time burning the disc than it is to burn "fast" and have a disc that won't play
Set the VIDEO portion of the transcoding options to a Maximum of 7,000 so your burned disc will have a better chance at playing in desktop players (which support burned discs, if at all, only as an "after thought" of the DVD specification)
Use AC3 or PCM audio transcode settings for best player compatibility (some discussion of MPEG audio not being supported by all players, especially for NTSC discs)
Buy and use Taiyo Yuden (or Verbatim?) brand blank discs
