Adobe folks on vacation 7/5-7/9

We're going to be on vacation next week, and therefore unlikely to respond to questions until we get back on 7/12.
See you in a week!

The old computer had Acrobat on it. The new computer only has Reader which has limited capabilities. It is basically a reader of PDF files, it cannot make changes.

  • Light Room Download and install, previously purchased but not in my account.  This isn't a forum type question, it needs customer support not answers from non-adobe folks.

I purchased LR sometime ago.  When i tried to login to access the download, I was required to change password.  The adobe account email that I had used was no longer available to me.  I have been able to change my email and password at this point.  But now the product I purchased is not present in my account despite my having a license for it.
I'm now on day 5 of trying to resolve to a fairly simple issue.

    Thanks.
I figured out from the original order email that the product page and the download page are not linked together.  The order page under my account has the link to download the program, which in some ways makes sense.  Other companies will have a link to download a program when you are on that page and logged in.

  • Lots of folks on vacation this and next week

If you're concerned that your questions and threads aren't receiving much attention, it's not intentional. Quite a bit of the team is out on holiday as this seems to be the peak of summer vacation time for us.
We'll have another Early Adopter Release and more time to work through the bugs and usability issues with our new features.
Thanks for the great feedback and keep it up!

I have 2 mini iPods, in few cases (and not everytimes), while just after doing the Restore, it showed the same icon as yours. I plugged into an (USB) ac charger, it did not work, so I used the Firewire ac charger instead or even connected iPod with my iPod HiFi, which managed to complete the Restore process.
It does not mean that I suggest you to buy a firewire ac charger, bring your mini to an apple shop to prove it.

  • Are the Adobe folks ok?

Adobe Digital Editions could really be better. For example, I would love the ability to keyword search my library. A 'check for updates'-link would be nice too. We're up to v. 3.x, and it honestly never crossed my mind to leave the client to Google search it until this morning when I was actually supposed to be doing something else. I can't be the only one.
Also: about this discussion board. Why can we not edit our 'screen name' in our profile? And why is my designated 'screen name' not being used? All I see after posting, is my real name. That's a little weird and kind of opposite of privacy-protecty. Unless my real name is visible only to me, which is really only confusing about the 'screen name' thing, since I already know who I am.
Just wondering if anyone of y'all in The Crowd knows. It'd be sort of cool if this stuff could be fixed. But maybe conflicting priorities make it harder to accomplish than it seems like it should be.
Maybe we're now entering a time when we need to take a serious look at sustainability of our electronic systems. I sometimes feel like I'm trying to communicate with poor V_GER of the first Star Trek movie.
Thank you for the nice emoji.

    Hi Schlomit,
I don't have the Adobe Text Pro to test, but of the others I see listed outside collections in the screen shot, the only one that failed to show all of your characters was  my version of Trajan Pro, which actually surprised me since it's based on classical Greek.

  • Camera raw changes color in adobe bridge and photoshop

Hi all, I am quite new to use RAW. I have raw files that I want to edit. Unfortunately, the moment I click on the raw files, the color changes.
Is there anything I should do to the color setting?
I am using a canon 20d and Adobe Photoshop, Bridge CS 3 and Adobe Camere Raw 4.0

The image is indeed rife with red color.
The fact that the embedded JPEG isn't quite as oversaturated with red as Adobe's conversion with the lowest color temperature of 2000 just says that Canon's conversions have more range at the low-end of the color temperature setting.
This is the color from the embedded JPEG.  Clearly it's dominated by a reddish-orange color, though not as red as that from Adobe's software.
This is the color from Adobe Camera Raw's conversion at the (low-end minimum) color temperature of 2000:
This is the photo converted with Canon DPP using "click white balance" on the bridge beam on the left:
Note, however, that (though the dropper seems to have incredible range) DPP does not allow you to specifically SET a color temperature lower than 2500K, which yields this color:
The bottom line here is that the "Click White Balance" function in Canon's DPP has far more range than ACR, where even the white balance dropper "mins out" at 2000K.
That's something the Adobe folks may want to look into, to extend the range of ACR's capabilities to suit this kind of IR photography.

  • Adobe Flash palyer 13.0.82 is not working in Safari (5.1.10 Snow Leopard) - A

I have lot of problems today, no install it!!!!!! continue with older version !!! 12.0.77 until the problem solve.

Empirically, Adobe has not been known for software stability, design nor security prowess, particularly with their free software offerings.   Apple deprecated and removed the Adobe software tools from OS X a while back, too.
See if using an H.264 extension tool can eliminate the need for Adobe Flash Player.
Otherwise, please check with the Adobe folks directly.

  • Adobe Support

Since no one can tell me how to get a reference to AIColorProfile can anyone answer this. For internal color transforms one can specify kRGB2RGB, well what does that really mean. RGB of what ? monitor, RGB WCS, ??
I hope Adobe is not very proud of their AI documentation because it SUCKS. I have not looked at any other Adobe SDK but I'm finding that if my livelihood depended upon it I would slow starve to death. I should NOT have to pay for simple answers that you refuse to document.
I would like one post from anyone from Abode on this forum and answer the following.
Do any Adobe folks read this forum ?
Do any Adobe folks answer any questions ?
I'm sure there are others who have posted here that think the same thing but will not say it, "your support sucks".

Sorry to hear of your frustrations Anthony. This is a developer to developer forum hosted by Adobe but contributed to in the main by external developers. I'll take a look at your original post when I can - but please remember that you can get help with your development issues from Adobe developer support. See the ReadMe on the SDK for contact details for the developer support channel.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Serial Number

I puchased a copy of Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard that came with a Dell Vostro 1710.  I have since stopped using that Laptop and moved the Adobe Acrobat to a workstation with is a older Dell Dim 8400.  I am now replacing that workstation with a New Dell XPS 8500 and wish to move the AA 9.0 Standard to this workstation.
Somewhere along the line I lost the Serial Number but have the install CD.  I pulled the serial number from the Dell Dim 8400 and inserted it into the install for the Dell 8500 but get "Invalid Serial Number".
I'm only running the software on one system....do I need to deactivate on the older system first?   I did not have this problem when I moved it from the older Laptop to the older workstation.

The serial number might be on the system, but only in encrypted form. As long as you registered or can provide proof of purchase, the Adobe folks may be able to help.

    HI tom jons,
You've landed in the community forums. But there are Adobe folks, such as myself, who pop in here throughout the day. What can we help you with? I noticed another post from you about a poor PDF conversion, and suggested that you try disabling OCR to resolve that issue. But if you need help with another issue, let us know!

  • Question for Adobe

I know that this is a user-to-user forum, but I also know that Adobe folks stop by here and I'd appreciate their attention.
I am a very regular contributor to this forum and have noticed a trend that is frustrating me. There seems to be an increasing number of users of PSA SE [I don't see this with PSA or PSE Organizer], who report the sudden disappearance of all their image files; they are shown as disconnected in PSA SE and cannot be found anywhere on the hard drive or the recycle bin.
I have been perfectly prepared to accept that this might be nothing to do with PSA SE itself. Other explanations are: users making errors; users deleting/moving the files not realizing the problem they are causing; other software deleting the image files.
But it is happenning just too often for this to explain the problem to me.
    Can you please:
    1) Confirm whether there is any conceivable mechanism whereby PSA SE could trash all the image files in this way.
    2) Suggest an investigative procedure in the event of such an occurance.
    Thank you.

    Colin:
Let me start by thanking you for all your support of the Starter Edition user community. I am from Adobe, and I do try and read this forum every day to keep an eye on what's going on with Starter Edition users. It helps me know what the main issues seem to be so we can make the next version better.
    To your questions:
As you've described to folks, SE doesn't actually hold your photos. It catalogs the images on your hard drive, or any other storage mechanism attached to your PC. Inside the SE catalog, we keep a pointer to the location of the photo on the storage device. If you delete that image file, move it, or detach the storage device from your PC, SE can't find the image as it's no longer where SE thinks it is. This is what we call a Broken Link. We do have some code to help reconnect the catalog with missing files, but if the files are gone, there's nothing to re-connect to.
I think the typical scenario folks are running into is that they "get" photos into SE from a removable storage device like a memory card, or directly from their camera if it is connected via USB. Once the removable storage device is removed from the PC, SE can no longer find the original files.
Other than the Delete Photo command, SE doesn't manage the original files on the hard drive, so it cannot delete them without the user specifically deleting them from within SE, which would also delete them from the catalog. Any disconnected file is a result of the original having been moved or deleted outside of SE.
For an investigative procedure, a user could always select the thumbnail of a disconnected image in SE, and select View>Properties. A window will open and in the bottom of the window is the complete file path to where SE thinks the file is. Knowing where SE thinks the file is could help trouble-shoot things. I.E. if the path is pointing to a removable drive, then it's clear what the problem is.
I don't know if all this info helps, as I think that it's all stuff you already knew. We do recognize that file management is problematic for folks, and are working on ideas to simplify the process. The Adobe Photo Downloader (that thing that pops up when you connect a camera or other storage device with images on it) is one way of helping. When getting images into SE using APD, we actually make a copy of the original image on the users hard drive, and then point there instead of to the camera. We'll continue to make improvements in future versions of SE as well.
Thanks again for all your help in this forum. There are A LOT of SE users out there who appreciate your help.
    Cheers
    Bob

  • Adobe Reader Error (21)

    Please help!
When trying to save a PDF file to Adobe; I keep getting this error message: "The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading the document. (21) After I close the box, a separate box pops up stating: "Insufficient data for an image." I've tried to update Adobe and also tried the fix, I currently have Adobe Reader 11.0.10. Afterwards the image is distorted and missing things. Please help me!!

    Ok, I have a workaround.
First, a preface for the Adobe folks: I had been going to my banking websites (I have more than one) and clicking on their button to download my monthly statement in PDF format. My IE11 browser always offers me the choice to Open, or Save, or Save As. Habitually, each month I select Open so I can first view the document then, in the Adobe reader itself, I click File then Save As. Once I click the final button to actually save it, is when the Error 21 pop-up appears. I noticed that I have no problem when doing the same thing today from another online bank, or from online websites that are not banks. I felt I had isolated the problem to just one certain online bank.
So I called that bank today asking if anyone else had called them to report this problem. Apparently I was not the first one to call because they brought a lady to the phone who acknowledged I was having Error 21 and asked me if the pop-up I saw said their bank name or if it said Adobe. I replied Adobe. She then told me to do this:
The workaround: when my browser offers me the choice to Open, or Save, or Save As, I am to select Save (not Open and not Save As) and let the PDF save itself to my Downloads folder. I did this and it saved. Then, I went to my Downloads folder, found it there under some generic filename they chose (Estatement.pdf) and I opened it and closed it with no errors. So far, so good. I even had her wait while I moved it to the folder where I wanted it to be, and even renamed it, and it's there and saved with no errors. Opens and closes ok. Yay.
She said it is an Adobe problem and that Adobe is working on it. I asked her how did she know that, was the bank in dialogue with Adobe? She said no, they just went to the Adobe site (probably this thread!) and saw where Adobe said they were working on it! She said it is happening because the file is encrypted. I asked her why then does this work ok for my other bank, surely they encrypt as well. Here's where I should have written down exactly what she said. She said something like the other bank probably used different encryption like SSL (?) but this bank changed away from that because it got hacked. I can't recall what type of encryption she said they used.
Anyway, that workaround worked for me. Hope this helps.

  • Using Adobe Media Encoder to create H.264, MPEG-2, and WMV videos from After Effects - 6/23/14

Very disappointed with this choice. I will definitely be seeking to uninstall this version and go back a version or two. Two many extra steps to export an mp4 now. And now we also have to wait longer for a mp4 to render and can't take advantage of the machine's hardware? You guys fighting mp4 as a standard, forcing us to an additional product, or what? I'll be sharing my extreme disappoint with this 'upgrade' with the rest of the developers at work and who just had it installed. I'm not seeing this being too popular opn social media either. Seems like you only did what was best for you. Thanks for showing us who's boss.

    Frank VA wrote:

Not necessarily. You can render an intermediate codec with AE's render queue (thus using all of AE's power to render) and then drop that file into the Adobe Media Encoder.
This was the workflow I've always used - even when AE could encode with MP4. Why? Well, because AE sucked at MP4 encoding. You couldn't even do multipass endoding with it!
This is a useful workflow in a few ways:
    1. You have an archive-quality file to come back to in the future.
    2. You can use AE's full power to render.
    3. You can use AME's superior encoding capabilities.
    4. You can tweak your compression settings and try various encoding parameters to improve the quality while decreasing the bitrate of your product WITHOUT having to re-render the AE comp every time you try since you're working off of the intermediate file. I mean, imagine a comp with several 3d layers, depth of field, shadows from multiple lights, and 250,000 particles from Particular. What if you made an MP4 and then the client needed a smaller file size or the MP4 you made was too heavily compressed and you needed higher quality? I don't know about you, but I'd much rather only render that 18-hour monster once.
This workflow actually saves time for many people.
And, in any workflow, this produces a better product.
Again, this is what I did even when AE could encode MP4's.
    Frank VA wrote:
You guys fighting mp4 as a standard, forcing us to an additional product, or what?
They aren't fighting MP4 as a standard, in fact, when Adobe folks pop in here and answer questions, that's often their recommendation for delivery codec.
    Frank VA wrote:

Listen, I understand your frustration. Knocking out a quick compressed file from AE for client review is handy.
However, maintaining the h.264 encoding in AE took up development time. There are only so many person-hours per week for the (relatively tiny) AE team to spend on building each version of AE.
I never liked AE's h.264 encoding - AME has always done a superior job. Since we have AME to do our encoding, I would rather the AE team focus their effort on improving AE as a compositing and motion graphics tool rather than as an encoding tool.
Again, I get the frustration. I can see where it feels like they are doing what's good for them and not us, but I think, in the long run, this way is better for us. Right now, the majority of the AE team is working on making AE faster to work with and faster to render. The sooner we get a relatively bug-free version of that, the better! (Especially for folks on Mac OSX Yosemite who can't RAM preview smoothly in any version of AE).
And at least the After Effects team has been very transparent about things - for example, this blog post talks about their reasoning: using Adobe Media Encoder to create H.264, MPEG-2, and WMV videos from After Effects

  • Hey, Adobe? A simple, heartfelt request from an accessibility driven designer

First - I adore Captivate, anyone wishing to troll the product please start your own thread.
Now - my  heartfelt request - which has already been sent a a feature request. (I ask those who also work in accessibility environments to add this request from their accounts as well, the more requests, the better our chances for the feature)
Tab ordering for the buttons was an awesome upgrade, but why did you stop halfway to perfect? Flash allows the developer to set the tab index for ALL the objects on the screen - text, image, animation, movie clip, navigation controls, etc) by simply assigning a number in the accessibility menu:
Add this to Captivate and almost every workaround and kluged fix (including seven tab, ten entry per tab conditional actions) I have had to slap on an otherwise simple and elegant project files disappear. Rollovers and feedback boxes are simply inserted into the reading order without a fuss. Long winded and boring slide notes that are read without pause by screen readers are replaced by easily digested elements that can:
Provide multiple ways to operate the technology and retrieve information so that users can choose alternatives based on their physical capabilities.
Provide support for the assistive technology (AT) that people with disabilities use for improved accessibility.
Ensure that all users have equivalent access to all the information conveyed.
In short, we can give the user a much higher quality, more engaging an interactive experience (read: not just a text equivalent, although it could still be an option) that better reflects the capabilities of eLearning, regardless of their sight,  hearing and/or mobility impairments.
If you think this might be valuable, send a feature request to Adobe.
If you're one of the Adobe folks assigned to monitor this forum - how valuable would this fix be when marketing this to a government agency anywhere in the world that insists on accessible materials?
    Justenuf

    Hello,
Just read your initial post regarding accessibility. I know your post is a year old but I would also like to echo your opinion that Captivate 8 should include some or all of the accessibility tools available in Flash(including some advanced actions to control name attributes for the screen reader). We have just begun using Captivate, coming from a Flash background. We will continue to use Flash for projects that do not require mobile deployment but use Captivate for the rest while gradually moving away from Flash (unfortunately). In my limited time using Captivate, I find that Flash can be made so much more accessible than Captivate, which is really disappointing given that it is from the same company. Maybe that opinion will change as I get used to Captivate but I have my doubts.
Anyway, one thing I do like in Captivate is the fact that a screen reader automatically reads the text in the "Accessibility" window (which should really be named the "screen reader text" window).
I have a couple of questions I wonder if you can answer:
    1. Is there a way to make the "Accessibility" and "Tab Index" windows stay up all of the time without having to close it to get to another button, object or screen? It is very annoying to have to close it every time to go and check on the name of a button so that I can put it in the correct tab order (same goes for the "accessibility" text window). You shouldn't have to click on the stage (to take focus away from a button) to get access to the "tab index" window.
    2. How do you make quiz questions keyboard accessible? I cannot seem to do this and without that functionality, Captivate fails as a tool to create accessible products.
    Thanks,
    dave

  • RE: Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 re - installation issues

I have a full version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 for Windows. I am presently having issues with reinstalling PSE 10. I have valiantly tried to get PSE 10 to reinstall and it will NOT reinstall for me. I am really frustrated at this juncture. Is there someone from Adobe who can assist me free of charge online? I am really disgusted with the fact that PSE suddenly and inexplicabley decides to crash and burn.
Any suggestions, information etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Well, every once in a while adobe folks pass by here, but the odds of their finding your post are not high. What happens when you try to reinstall? How did you uninstall it before? Whcih version of windows is this?

Again, I'm guessing: it is possible that newer versions of Adobe products are more strict to adhere to PDF standards.
I have also tried to open your file using Adobe internal beta versions, and I've received the same errors.  Meaning that this behavior is here to stay.
