Adobe Reader closes itself automatically

I am using Windows 8.1, Word 2010 and Adobe Reader X. Any time a Word document is opene at the same time the Adobe reader closes itself automatically once the mouse cursor hits the Reader document. What can I do?

Hi,
I would say you are definitely coming up against memory restrictions. There are a couple of posts by John Brinkman that I would recommend.
First I would look at why the form is 6Mb and see if you can reduce this down. For example, select fonts that are already in Reader (like Myriad Pro) and then deselect Embed Fonts in the File > Form Properties > Save Options. Also do not embed images into the form. See:
http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2010/02/big_and_complex_forms.html.
http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2010/09/xdp-size-matters.html.
http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2009/11/linked_vs_embedded_template_im.html.
Next look at your script. You mention loops, so check is your script efficient. For example, use xfa.resolveNodes() once outside of the loop, instead of xfa.resolveNode() inside the loop. Make sure that variables are declared. See:
http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2011/10/script-performance-exercise.html.
http://assure.ly/kUP02y.
Also check for any script that you have in events that fire frequently, like layout:ready event and comment these out. See.
http://assure.ly/nB0Bvz.
The dataset seems very large at 2Mb. Does this include image data? It may be that the user is interacting with the form, while it is still trying to process the XML and the loops.
Hope that helps,
Niall

  • Adobe reader closes automatically while table entry is added by add button

    Hi Team,
I am new in adobe form. I have developed an adobe interactive form using livecycle designer integrated with SAP. My form has a table and under that there is an add button. When the form is opened in adobe reader and  add button is clicked, I have written a javascript code which appends a new entry in the table above. Everything is fine upto here.
Now when I keep on clicking the add button, new entries are created and table grows. But when the table populates the current page and grows to populate the next page, suddenly the adobe form closes. I think there is an inconsistancy happening as my configuration for the table or the subform wrapping the table and the add button is conflicting.
Could you guys give me some advise on this. I can provide screenshots or the adobe document on request.
    Thanks,
    Mainak

  • Adobe Reader Closes automatically while the form is large

    Hi ,
I am having the application PDF which is stitched dynamically. Here In the PDF user can enter N number of location and corresponding details.
When the Locations is increased then the Data volume also will be increased. and also in the PDf has N number of tabs(Like Home , Help .. etc ) .
We also have some functions like submit , Export XML , Import XMl .....
All the functions are working fine but
when the form is large and user navigates different panel (via clicking the button) the the PDF is closed automatically.
    Example : - In the PDF I have two Panel/Tabs Like P1 , P2 . When I clicks,
P1 - Some calcaulation (Reading the data from XML and N Number of loops and calculate value)
P2 - To View the Value based on the P1 calcuation
    Problem : -
If user Clicks P2 then calcuation is working Ok and clicks p1 then Adobe Reader Closed.
If User Clicks P2 and clicks P1 then OK but user clicks again p2 and p1 then Adobe Reader Closed.
Adobe Reader automatically closed first time or 2nd or 3rd......
But I having these issue only for Large PDF. Current issue PDF has 6 MB and the exported XML is 2 MB .
    Is any Memory issue ??
    Any Ideas..??

  • Document I was reading in Adobe reader closes when I restart app

    Hi there,
There is is a bug in your iPad app. The scenario goes like this...
I open a document in Adobe reader and start reading
I press home to do something else
I double click home button and see that adobe reader still shows my open document and I select adobe reader to continue reading where I left off
Adobe reader starts up again, but the document closes !!! And I have to re-open it whereupon it opens up from where it closed.
    Thanks,
    Maz

    Hi there,
I've attached a video of the error occurring. The occur occurs intermittently and I've been trying to video the error for the last day or so.
I managed to video it but the app was already minimised. I was in my mail app. At 9 seconds, I selected the Adobe app and you can see it start, and after a short instant, it closes the document I was reading by itself.
Due to the low level of light and my thinking that I wasn't going to capture this error, I didn't restart the document I was reading and that closed, but I opened another document. What I would have liked to have shown was that when I restart the original document, it continues from where it left off. I am on v 11.3.1 as you can see from the screen print.
Maybe, because the error doesn't show up all the time, it's based on some sort of time elapsing as it occurs at least every several hours and just once, then after several hours, it occurs again. Just something I noticed.
    Thanks, Maz

  • Why is my Adobe Reader 11 going automatically to the background when i open an pdf file

    Hello Guys,
We have a problem at a customer. If he opens an pdf file from his programm , then it is going automatically to the background.
We tried it with Adobe Reader 8 and that wasn't giving a problem, so anybody has an workaround for Adobe Reader 11 ?
    Thanks
    Tariku Bartels

    Dear Pat,
We have internet explorer 9.0 (and we tried it with 10) and when we want to proceed with it, it opens for a second an goes to the background.
So it opens in the External Adobe Reader. But i know we can alt-tab it but it needs to be automatically and that worked just with Reader 8.
So do you have any idea of how we can fix this or is there a workaround available for this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Tariku Bartels

  • Adobe reader Closes when I try to use it

    Hi everybody.
I have the problem that when I open a .pdf it closes inmediately. I tryed reinstalling the programme every time it happens, but I always get the same results.
I se Windows 7 and all the updates are installed.
    What could I do?
Thanks you and sorry for my poor english.

This procedure seems to have helped others with the same problem...
remove your current Adobe Reader installation using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
download and run the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe reader deleted itself during 9.1 update!

I let Adobe reader try to upgrade itself to 9.1 while I was viewing a PDF from the web inside the Opera web browser. Everything seemed to be going fine. I got two notifications from the notification area (lower right screen) corner, saying that updates were ready. A bunch of dialog boxes and progress bars, including one that said "validating install." Then a message popped up saying that the install failed.
Then I went into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0 and found it completely empty except for an emtpy "Resource" folder. I looked in the "uninstall a program" window in the control panel and Adobe Reader was not there. It is totally gone! I can't open PDFs by double clicking them. None of my web browsers can open PDFs either. This thing is GONE.
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I am running as standard user (not administrator). Using the Opera web browser.

This seems quite normal to me; it uninstalled 9.0 successfully, then unsuccessfully tried to install 9.1 - maybe it should have done a rollback...?
However, why not just retry the install of 9.1...?

  • Adobe Reader closes when print is clicked

    Using Adobe Reader Version 10.1.2.45
When I open a PDF Document and either click on the Print icon or click file > Print   Adobe just closes the program. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 2 times. All other apps on my PC recognize and print fine to my default printer.
I just can't figure this one out.
    All help is greatly appreciated
    Jerry

There is currently a known issue with Adobe Reader 10.1.2.
You can resolve the issue temporarily by using one of the workarounds in the forum post below:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/949886?tstart=0
Most people find that workaround 2 is the one that works the best but decreases Adobe Reader security slightly. So best to re-enable Protected Mode when you aren't printing.
Adobe plans to release a fix for this issue in the future.

  • Adobe Reader closes quickly

When I open adobe reader it stays open for about 5 seconds and then closes, help? I have uninstalled and reinstalled.

I'm having the same problem--just started today.  Have had both Acrobat Standard 7 and Reader 8 installed for quite some time without problems--now all of a sudden I can't get my kids' school worksheets and answer keys!!!  (They attend school online--this is a major issue!!!)
Thought it was a Firefox problem since it started when opening PDFs in Firefox 3, but I have the same problem in IE 7 *AND* when opening PDFs directly in either Acrobat *OR* Reader:  The file opens for a couple of seconds, but then:  "Adobe Acrobat 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close," or a similar message about Reader.  If I'm quick enough, I can just barely save the file before it crashes--but then when I try to manually open it, same crash message.
SOMEBODY HELP!!!  This problem is catastrophic for work and school in this house!!!  (And I can't imagine if the same thing began to happen on our office computers!)

  • Adobe Reader does not automatically associate with PDF files in Xp Sp3

I have reinstalled Reader (twice) and it does not automatically associate with PDF files.
How do I fix this problem?
    Cheers, JH

The thing is, when I right click a pdf file, and then go to properties, change default program to open with, select browse, I select it in the correct folder, when I click open, it doesnt open and the programs stay blank, so I cant select anything. There is nothing to select. And I have re-installed. But at the end of the install there are no options what file types to associate with. Any way to do it inside Reader?
I have reader 9.2.0. and Win7 up to date. When I'm opening and closing allot of files the whole time, I don't want to do inside reader. Help please?

  • ITunes 10.6 closes itself automatically on windows 7

After the latest update of iTunes, I can not open it. It is immediately closed by windows with the error:
    `iTunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available`
I uninstalled and re-installed iTunes many many times but it didn`t work .

    Hello,
I've been unable to use my iTunes ever since upgrading to v10.6 Today with the new roll out of v10.6.1 I ran the fresh update hoping the issue would be resolved... After the update, Same CRASH issue at opening...  I was able to FIX this on my own after messing around with an extremely confusing support article. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
Try doing this troubleshoot and see if it helps you, it worked great for me! After I moved the first folder location listed below, my iTunes was fixed! I have since deleted that folder I had moved earlier and iTunes it's still working like a charm. I've also re-wrote the instructions for you more clearly then apple did.
    Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store it's settings and preferences may be unusable and cause issues.  iTunes has two folders where it's preferences are saved. Move one of the folders to another folder location ie. (my documents, etc.) and try opening and running itunes to test.  This is to see if the issue persists after removing these files. If the issue does not persist, simply delete the moved folder and enjoy using iTunes! However, If the issue still persists, move the folder back to where it was originally and try the same process again, this time moving the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Really hope this helps you!
