Adobe Updater fails to Open on Mac?

On the Top Grey Menu at the top of my Mac, there is always a notification saying that there is one update for adobe
There is a logo of Adobe with a number 1 next to it
When I click on it, I can choose "Open Updater"
but whenever I click it, the updater logo only BLINKS in the bottom menu and fails to open
I am wondering how can I fix the issue.
Before that, one time I tried to remove flash player in my Mac, maybe I wrongly removed some important files but I don't know
Thanks for helping solve my problem.

If you can not update from Help>Updates, you can either wait to see if the server comes back up (the typical problem), or do the downloads. In general, the updates should be installed in order. If you download from the most recent back, you can check if there are any that can be skipped. You only need to reboot after the last update. Now, That is the process for the PC, but I expect the process is the same for the MAC. The MAC may require the individual reboots, I am not sure. May be better to do all and not be sorry later.

  • Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error.. Help!

I have been using registered version of Adobe Presenter ( I have a serial number) for some time. Now I receive the following error message:
"Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error in the licensing system. Please close and re-launch PowerPoint and enter
serial number to license it. If this problem persists, reinstall this product and try again."
The registration page pops up but just briefly--too fast to click the accept/decline buttons. I have tried deleting the Office and Adobe preference files under User as well as uninstalling/reinstalling but the error message persists making presenter unusable. I also tried to install just a a trial version but also receive the same error message.
System is Win 7. As I said I have been using it for over a year successfully.
What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks...Dave

Thanks Nirupam.  Here are the answers.
The hardware for recording audio is simple mini-phone plug to mini-phone jack in the back of the computer.  The driver is HD compatible (Microphone High Definition Audio Device)
After recording, I am able to replay it, but Powerpoint crashes soonafter, and not predictably.
So far I have added no markers or specified any actions.
Specifically, I have taken enumerable actions-- some of these per suggestions made in this forum (to the letter).  Perhaps the most frequent action is to drill into Powerpoint options, and re-enable the Adobe Presenter add-in.
I have been able to apply neither the 7.05 patch nor the 7.06 successfully.  Both failed (the error message said it wouldn't apply to this version of Presenter.  Again, it's Presenter_WWE.exe).
I can see that you have ramped this up to known bug status.  I appreciate that and am sure you'll come up with a rock solid solution.
As I've said earlier, one of Adobe's strengths, for me, is that they understand the needs and idiosyncracies of faculty.  Faculty cannot handle geek solutions (like changing registries).  After frustration, they will abandon and move on.
    Thanks,
    Glen

  • Unable to "try" trial version... "Adobe Presenter failed to open because..."

After installing the trial version of Presenter 7, and launching it in PowerPoint (2007)... each time I go to the "Adobe Presenter" tab, in PowerPoint, and try to click on any button (on the toolbar - for example "Help")... I see a dialog flash on the screen - for a brief moment... then it immediately goes away.
Then, if I click on "Help" again (or any other button), I get the following error dialog:
"Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error in the licensing system. Please close and re-launch PowerPoint and enter serial number to license it. If this problem persists, reinstall this product and try again."
Yeah, it's not licensed (yet) - it's a freshly installed "trial" version.
Does anyone have any tips on how I can get Presenter 7 working so that I can effectively evaluate it - to see if it will meet my needs or not?
    Thanks.

ok...i'm not sure how at all...but, a couple hours have passed since i posted this and while i was hoping someone would reply i was finishing up some old work on my old, extremely slow emac. anyways, i decided to go ahead and try to install leopard again from the normal standard method. (which is just clicking the icon once the leopard install window comes up). Guess what? now it's 50% into the installation!! i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch...especially after some of the discussions i've read about leopard so far...but, i'm hopeful
who knows how...i'm clueless and it doesn't make much sense to me. but, i'll come back and let anyone who cares know how the install went.
note for anyone with similar problems:
another strange fix to the 'leopard dvd ejecting on install' is to let the dvd chill in the drive for a couple hours...then try it again. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! worked for me

I am using Windows 7.  I went to the "Installers" folder & there is a log file for every update except the Camera Raw update. I don't think it gets far enough to create the file. I was watching the folder & I tried to install this last patch again. I starts out saying it's downloading then aborts. No file is created. The files that are in the folder are:
    Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 11.5.2 08-27-2012.log.gz
    Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5 5.5.1 08-27-2012.log.gz

  • 10.4.8 update failed, I now have mac os with serial number, no version

Tried to update my iBook G3 700MHz to 10.4.8 but the update failed. Software update told me that I could try running the updater again from the Trash which did not work (even after moving the file from the Trash and running it from the desktop).
If I try running the updater (delta or combo, downloaded from apple.com) I only get a message telling me that there was some kind of JavaScript error and that the package cannot be installed.
According to apple > About this computer I don't have any version of Mac os, there is just a serial number there that I have never seen before. The serial number is where 10.4.8 would normally be.
At the bottom of the popup it only says "(c) & tm", I believe it should read "c & tm Apple Computer".
Disc Utility cannot repair permissions on my start-up drive because the button is greyed out. It seems as if Disc utility cannot find any version of Mac os on my single partition. I have no other harddrives or partitions attached to the ibook btw.
The iBook starts up just fine and Mac os works though. I'm using the iBook now. All programs that do not check the OS version work fine too, but BBEdit does not start since it "requires mac os 10.3.5 or later" and Disc utility does not want to repair permissions since it thinks I have no mac os installed.
Any idea how to reset or repair the version number except reinstalling mac os?
I did an update on my G5 powermac and that worked just fine so I can probably copy files from there if I only knew which ones to copy.
    iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Hi-
Sorry you're having problems. Me too, but not quite as severe as yours. Was running 10.4.7 on a TiBook 800, 37 GB free space. Ran from the autoinstaller and it failed the same way yours did and suggested I run the package that was in the trash. I pulled that out and first ran disk utility. It fixed some permissions but I was unable to run the 'repair' as it was greyed out (the 'verify' came up w/ errors and said the disk needed repaired). I started up in single user mode and ran fsck -fy. This was able to fix the disk and resolve all (disk) errors.
Reran the updater by double-clicking on the package but it fails the same way. My info under the blue apple icon is unchanged from before I ran the updater (not as severe as your problem). But I'm just waiting for more info or a new release from Apple. I don't want to find a way to force this update and end up in worse trouble.
This is not the stock disk that came from Apple, I've upgraded it. I haven't noticed any other problems w/ the computer's behavior.
Good luck and let me know if you find a fix.

  • Photosmart C309g - Scanner session fails to open on Mac

I've had this printer (all-in-one) for a few years.  It has always been troublesome, unreliable, flakey.  Firstly, the much talked about networking issues.  I think I've fixed that, for printing at least.  Now the scanner, which has worked intermittently, will not work at all - I mean, when I open up the System Prefs > Print Fax > Scan > Open Scanner - it fails to open session.
I have just dumped the old HP software, downloaded the whole installation again and reinstalled.  HP Scan just doesn't even find the device.  And when I try to scan from the printer to the Mac, the Open in Preview plug-in 'Unexpectedly Quits' every time.  This printer/scanner has been an expensive mistake.  Soooo frustrating!  I have searched the Forums, but could only find one other relevant question on this, from 2009 and the only suggestion there was to 'reinstall', which i have done.  The HP drivers for Mac seem really poor.
    Any suggestions/known bugs/fixes out there?

  • "Update failed" when opening Ap2 library with Ap3

One of my two Ap 2.14 libraries opened and upgraded in Ap3 with no trouble, but the other one gets an "Update failed" error message. I launched Ap3 while holding the option key and selected the library, and Ap3 produced the error message and quit. I tried running both "standard" and "admin" user accounts. Tried running Consistency Check and Rebuild Library with Ap2. Repaired permissions. No dice. Ap3 will not open the library.
Suggestions? Anyone else having similar troubles?

Ok, so I am(was) in the same boat as everyone. "Open the A3 Trial>want to update?>Upgrade....Update Failed"
So no success to enter the program,
so what I did was kinda like Trick Aperture, I went on my A2 Library clicked on (more info, Command+I) and opened the section Name and Extension and changed to a whatever named, but before I copied the original name, just in case... then it asks you to accept, the new extension...
so yes, and that Aperture Library becomes a Folder with ALL of you projects...
Now you are Able to enter A3 because is not causing that "Whatever" conflict it is with the new version, but then, on A3 I tried to import the projects and it would not appear on A3 Browser.
But I knew the projects were there...
so I closed A3... Deleted the New A3 Library (it creates automatically)
and pasted the original name on my A2 Library... and reopened A3 and it started the whole Importing process... and is on 4-5% as of now.
So if it is a little confusing here are the process I've done:
1.Changed the name and extension of A2's Library to whatever.(save the original name on a document or else)
    2.Opened A3, closed.
    3.Deleted A3 Library (1.3mb)
4.Renamed A2 Library (which is a folder now) with Original Name, then it became A2 Library again. Mine look like this (Aperture Library.aplibrary)
And then reopened A3, and pressed Upgrade, it started the importing.
    Hope it works for everyone.

Adobe X with not open document thru iinternet explorer

When that happens, can you check with the Task Manager (Processes tab) if AcroRd32.exe is already running?  If so, can you kill the process from Task Manager and try again?
Another thing to try when this happens is to restart Windows, does it work after that?

  • Adobe Updates Fail - with FileVault

    Hi there,
I have several Adobe products (CS3, Acrobat Professional) that I'm using on my MacBook Pro that all fail to update with the following error:
"The installation process encountered a problem. Please choose from the following options:
Cancel the current update and continue installing the remaining updates.
    Stop installing and continue later."
If I continue the installation, each subsequent attempt also fails.
On this particular account, I'm running FileVault. If I sign-in to another non-FileVault account, the installations continue with no problem. However, when I sign back into the FileVault account, it doesn't see the updates! Ugh.
    Help!?
    I'm using Mac OS 10.5.4 .
    Thanks!

  • Help please! OS 10.4.6 - 10.4.7 update failed on my CoreDuo Mac Mini

I've read quite a few posts in these forums from other people who had problems with their 10.4.7 update. My situation seems a bit different.
Background info: I recently updated my PowerBook G4 from 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 using the G4 Combo updater and everything went fine. I updated my brother-in-law's CoreDuo iMac from 10.4.5 to 10.4.7 using the Intel Combo updater, also without incident. I followed MacFixit's procedure for rebuilding file permissions and verifying my HD before attempting to update my CoreDuo Mini. My only mistake was failing to backup my Mini's HD before running the Combo updater. (I did make backups of the other two systems before updating, however my Mini didn't contain anything I thought was critical.)
About five minutes into running the same 10.4.7 Intel Combo updater on my CoreDuo Mini (running 10.4.6), I received a warning message that an error occurred during the update. The message recommended that I reapply the update. Unfortunately that was not possible -- Disk Utility, Disk Image Mounter and most of the OS was already nonfunctional. I tried to open Terminal without success. I tried to relaunch the Finder without success. There didn't seem to be anything to do except reboot.
Rebooting seemed to progress ok through the gray Apple screen and into the "Starting Mac OS X" blue progress bar. That bar advanced all the way to the right side of the screen and stayed there. After a few minutes with the blue progress bar completely filling its rectangle, the Mac's fan turned off and there was no further evidence of activity. The progress bar stayed there until, eventually, I powered off the Mini.
I tried rebooting in Safe mode but that did not seem to make any difference. Same results for attempts to boot into single user mode. I reset PRAM, but again, no difference… the blue progress bar on the "Starting Mac OS X" screen just sat there.
At this point I put my Mini into Target disk mode with my PowerBook and made a backup of the nonbooting hard drive using SuperDuper. (Yes, I know... I should have done that when it still worked in 10.4.6.)
My question is this: I want to do an archive-and-install or erase-and-install from my OS 10.4.5 installer disks but I get a red exclamation mark over my drive's icon which states, "You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume. Mac OS X cannot start up from this volume." The 'Options...' button is grayed out. The only thing I'm allowed to do is press the "Go Back" button.
I've checked my Mini's HD in Disk Utility (booted from the CD) several times and there doesn't seem to be any identifiable problem with it. I've run the extended Apple Hardware test but no issues were reported. My RAM recently passed nine iterations with Memtest in single user mode overnight. I've witnessed no HD flakiness or SMART status warnings prior to the update. My Mini is an otherwise perfectly functioning 7 week old Apple refurb.
How can I persuade the Installer CD to let me put 10.4.5 back onto my Mini's drive? I am completely baffled why I can't do a clean OS install from the CD.
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

(Oops, time expired on editing my previous post while I had breakfast with the kids.)
Apple's OS Installer seems picky about which disks it will install onto. It seems to require a disk with an active version of the OS. I've never been able to use Apple's Installer to put OS X onto a blank external Firewire drive, for instance. I'm not sure if it will update any external FW drive, though I can't say that's for certain. I expect the same limitation may be true for attached USB2 drives. Panther installers were picky this way too.
What I'm looking for is a clear explanation of what Apple's Installer needs to see to make the red exclamation mark go away. It has a very concrete idea about what's an acceptable target drive. Unfortunately, not knowing exactly what it's looking for, I'm at a disadvantage to give it what it wants.
I'm nearly to the point of calling AppleCare. It seems a bit ridiculous that I'm having so much trouble getting the OS Installer put the original OS that came with my CD-Mini onto my CD-Mini's hard drive. But maybe there's a trick to it I just haven't tried yet.
BTW, I was using this CD-Mini almost exclusively as a media player below my plasma TV. I'd like to be able to watch some EyeTV recorded shows this week. Right now this CD-Mini is little more than a paperweight due to lack of a workable OS.
    Thanks again.

  • Bridge 1.0.4 update fails on Leopard (Intel mac)

Howdy! I just installed Photoshop CS2 on a new Macbook Pro running Leopard, and then downloaded the Bridge 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 updates. The 1.0.3 update appears to install correctly, and when I bring up Bridge it says it's 1.0.3. But the 1.0.4 update won't install, claiming that 1.0.3 isn't installed.
Any ideas? (Other than the obvious one of upgrading to CS3?)
Bridge is fully updated to 1.0.4 on my old Powerbook; can I reasonably drag the Bridge application over to the new laptop and get 1.0.4 that way?

I had a similar problem updating PSE 4.0.1. You might get it to work if you open the Bridge Plug Ins file and instal the Adobe 4.3.1 Adobe Camera Raw file in it. Then try to run the Bridge 1.0.4 Update, downloaded from the Adobe website, not from within Bridge. Good Luck
P.S.No one at Adobe could explain the problems I was having with my update, but I did get it to work in 10.5.2.

  • Adobe Reader doesn't open on Mac

    Hi,
I cannot open PDF files on my mac.  As per other forums, I have tired deleteing and un-installing all adobe reader, then tried re-downlading it.  I still can't get the PDF's to open.  I have read through the 'terms' and agree, but it still doesn't open PDFs.  When i click to a link I just get a blank page.  I'm rather frustrated, I called mac support, they did there best to help me but they couldn't.  I can't not find a contact number for adobe, as i have tried following all of the advice given on the forums to no avail.  What do i do now?  I really would like to be able to open PDF files with Adobe Reader.
    Thanks!

You know... you really DON'T need Adobe Reader on a Mac. Preview (part of the OS) is a much better viewer for PDFs. You say you uninstalled. I can only assume by that, you simply dragged the Reader folder to the trash and emptied it. Unfortunately that doesn't remove Preferences or .plist files from your system folder. In order to COMPLETELY remove an app you need to use a "cleaner" like AppZapper that will also remove ALL associated (and hidden) files for the app. Otherwise you install the new app with the same old broken preferences.
Download and install Reader 11 again, then download and run AppZapper (it's a free trial, but well worth the $12.95 to buy if you decide to) to completely remove it. Then download and install Reader again. If it still doesn't work, get back to us here.
