Adsl and vlan help

hello, im new to ccna .
please any expert help me in this sinario,
router 1721 with one wic-1adsl ,i have adsl conection with irb static ip.
the router connect with mannaged switch through a trunk port.
the switch has 2 vlans one for the static IPs and the other for private lan.
i need the private lan to be able to go to internet please any ideas.
the router configuration is as follows:

so how i can make all vlans go internet(the router has only 1 fastethernet port)
thanks in advanced for any help.

OK, so you need to take IP from your public range and assign it to loopback interface.
OR you can use on both subinterfaces private addresses and entire public range use for PAT, statc NAT or what ever, it depends on your reqiurements. How many devices do you have on 62.135.115.72/29 subnet?
If I were you, I would choose second option because in first option you have to lower subnet mask on Fa0.2 from / 29 to /30 which leaves you with only 1 host on this LAN segment!!!
This configuration will ensure that subnet 192.168.1.0/24 will access internet with public IP 62.135.115.72 and subnet 192.168.2.0/24 will access internet with public IP 62.135.115.73.
And you still have 6 more free public IPs for what ever you will need them (static NAT, static portforward. VPN,....)

  • Stuck on 'Fixed' ADSL and no help from overseas ca...

After trying 3 times to get some sense from an overseas call centre, I am now trying this forum in the hopes that a moderator can help as I have heard great things about them!
I am obviously trying to get the fastest broadband speed possible for my line (I realise that it is quite long and in a rural area).  However, since time in memorial I have been stuck with a 'fixed' 576kbps / 288kbps line - the call centre doesn't seem to accept this - my line stats show different see below.
Surely my connection speed will be variable to some extent (ip profile allowing) but my upstream should be around 448kbps with the upto 8meg package that I am on.  My router only connects at 576kbps and stays there with no disconnections etc.
Please note that the short 'up time' is only due to a power cut.
Can somebody please help as this is driving me nuts!
    Many thanks.

As yet, no news from PaddyB the mod that has taken up the challenge.
    However, the plot thickens.
After going to my next door neighbours barbeque last night (Yes, it was cold) I was complaining about BT and their previous customer service (not PaddyB) and it was suggested that I check their line with BT Speedtester.
    Results are as follows:
    Download Speed: 1266kbps
    Acceptable: Between 400 - 2000kbps
    DSL Connection: UP 1856kbps / DWN 448kbps
    IP Profile: 1500kbps
BT obviously hasn't given me the fastest speed possible at a stable rate as stated in their literature.
This has obviously been ongoing ever since my exchange (SSSBL) went ADSLMax capable on 13/03/06.
I have been paying for a service I blatantly haven't received for well over four years!! Despite making complaints and discussing the fact with the various BT Sales people who cold call every now and again!
My exchange is not LLU enabled so can use no other ISP (Unknown when it will be) therefore I have no choice but to use BT.
There are also no published dates for an upgrade to 21CN WBC.
If anybody knows any email / contact details for somebody or department that can issue refunds for a service that has not been contractually provided - I would be grateful.  I would obviously like to sort this out as soon as possible.
Any ideas as to who I should approach Othelo / Ofcom / Oftel.
    Any help gratefully received!!

  • Help with wireless controller and VLANs

Hi I'm trying to setup a wireless controller in preparation for a large site go live later this year. I'm struggling to get the controller and the WLAN using the correct VLAN. I want the controller on VLAN 100 and the clients on the WLAN on VLAN 200.
My thought is that I would need a config similar to:
Switchport for wireless controller management port set to trunk VLAN 100 and 200 with no native VLAN set.
The management interface on the controller set to VLAN 100.
A dynamic interface created on VLAN 200.
When setup like this I can get to the controller on its management address but only from VLAN100 not from another VLAN on site or from other sites over the WAN.
I have setup a WLAN which is set to use the dynamic interface on VLAN 200.
I have set the AP to use HREAP and set the native VLAN as 200 and added the dynamic interface into the VLAN mappings
When I connecting a client to the WLAN I get an address on VLAN 100.
The switchport for the AP is set to native VLAN 100 and trunk 200 – this setup works for standalone APs at other sites.
    What am I missing?
Also any idea why the management interface address is not routing? The netmask and gateway are set correctly.
    Thanks
    Paul

Just to add to Steve's post... You only need to create a dynamic interface for vlan 200 if you have ap's also in local mode.  If your ap's are in H-REAP/FlexConnect mode, you don't need a dynamic interface for vlan 200.
In you H-REAP/FlexConnect ap, you would set the wlan to vlan mapping there and the switchport configuration would be a trunk allowing vlan 100 (im assuming your native vlan for your ap) and vlan 200.  You should see something like the following:

  • How do I add a Subnet and vlan with a catalyst 3550 and RV120

    Hello Friends.
I have a scenario that i'm hoping i can get some help with. I'll be as detailed and descriptive as i can.
This is for a business with 100 employees nodes and 100 camera nodes all needing IP internet through private addressing and public gateway.
I have a business class gateway with a private range of 12 public addresses. Ther modem does nothing but act as a gateway since i have disabled the firewall and DHCP.
In place of the firewall and DCHP from the modem i have installed a RV120 Firewall with VPN. When installing i replicated the IP scheme of the modem as to not disturb and distrup the devices assigned addresses from that scheme from the modem. I did this because the owner could not have any down time or any disruption to the business operations.
The RV120 now acts as firewall , DHCP , and VPN. I'll address the subnet first. I's using 10.0.0.0/24 subnet range.
DHCP is assigning 10.1.10.50 - 10.1.10.100 the rest are static and i plan to use static DHCP with the IP and MAC assigned to each static DHCP address.
There are 100 cameras with static IP addresses in the range of 10.1.10.11 - 10.1.10.40, and 10.1.0.1.101 - 10.1.10.170.
VPN uses PPTP assigned address 10.1.10.6 - 10.1.10.10.
There are no layer 3 switches that i know of. Just a layer two that is the primary swith and ports have run out, and various out of the box switches and wireless access points connected to the primary switch.
I want to implement subnets into the network and VLANS as well on a new Layer 3 switche from cisco. Thinking 3550 from Cisco or one of the older layer 2 switches with layer three capabilities.
I also want to introduce a 192.168.0.0/24 IP range for the existing wireless network and segment the traffic from the rest of the traffic on other ranges.
I want to replace the 10.0.0.0/24 DHCP alltogether and the static addresses for end user nodes on the same network, but keep that range just for camera nodes segmented.
I want to implement a NEW end user IP range and VLAN for employee/guest networks using the 172.16.0.0/24 range.
Iv'e thought of replacing all the wireless nodes with RV120's and use VLAN. Dont know if that strategy works. Need to think it through.
I want the 192.168.0.0/24 IP range comunicate to with the 172.16.0.0/24 and possibly the 10.0.0.0/24 range.
Any advice on how to do this?
As a side note the next step after this is to install a server domain controller as all the computers are all stand alones in their own workgroups. It's a simultaneous project that will introdue a DCHP, WINS, DNS server.

Hi Omid, it sounds like you're proposing the 3550 switch but you're not decided yet. The 3550 switch is a pretty old device and needs enhanced multilayer image. It may be more prudent to use a more current switch such as small business SG300 or SG500 as the feature set is more rich and it supports around 480 LAN connections.
To answer the inquiry, the RV120W, when you create a VLAN it will automatically create an IP interface. From this you may assign subnet as you like along with 'enable or disable' for inter vlan routing. Since the RV120W has this feature, a layer 3 switch is not required unless you are looking to keep the routing load smaller by routing locally with the switch.
With Catalyst or a small business switch you would need to create a VLAN. After creating the VLAN, on a Catalyst you can simply issue "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" on the desired interface and all VLAN will passage without issue. For a port connecting a user "switchport mode access" "native vlan xx" This will assign the port as untag member of the desired VLAN.
If using a small business switch, it is slightly different, you still create the VLAN but the command issue is a bit different  "switchport trunk allowed vlan add xx" for the link to the router, where xx = the VLAN ID to tag to the router. For access client it remains the same as Catalyst.

  • WLC2112 with Guest / Web-Auth and vlan

    Hi
I'm trying to configure my WLC with guest SSID and vlan 10.
The security is only set to Web-auth, and it is all working if the guest network is set to nativ vlan (1) But it seems that the http(s)://1.1.1.1/login.html is not reacheble from the guest SSID/VLAN??
    Please help.
    Management IP Address 192.168.14.252
    Software Version 6.0.182.0
    Emergency Image Version
I have tried with ver. 5.2 also -

I think that 1.1.1.1 is only reachable from a wireless client during webauth. They should not be able to reach that address once they have passed through the web auth page.
Don't know if that helps, or not.

  • RV016 - Achieving Segregation and VLANS

Good afternoon, our company started out very small and is now growing very large to the point where I am looking at layering hosts to obtain more segregation and security for different areas/users within the company. I've been playing around with the VLAN feature in this router a long with the multiple subnets to see what the most ideal configuration situation would be.
Ideally I was thinking I would block out hosts for areas regarding security and use the VLANS built into the RV016 to isolate them from other users/areas on the network. HOWEVER it seems that the VLANS ONLY segregrate within the Device IP Address (RV016) and Subnet Masks realm. So for example, if my RV016 is setup with a standard Class C net of 192.168.1.1 host with a 255.255.255.0 sub, and I add a multiple subnet of 192.168.2.0/24, and I then assign a LAN port in the RV016 to say VLAN2, and all others to VLAN1, my device on ip 192.168.1.20 VLAN2 for example, is accessible by devices on the VLAN1 with ip 192.168.2.20. It appears to me that the VLAN functions on the LAN ports are NOT being applied to devices that are added or created under multiple subnets.
This is frustrating for me because ideally this is how I would prefer to use it so I can expand my network by adding more hosts and acheiving segregation and separation. Ideally this would be resolvable if I could modify the main device subnet mask to something OTHER than the 255.255.255.x settings that are preset in the device, disgarding the need for multiple subnets, and allowing VLANS to function as they are built into the device. It seems the only way I can truly get the security/separation I desire between devices on the VLANs and in the multiple subnets is to create deny ACL's within the RV016 itself.
Hopefully this makes sense. I guess I am wondering if there are other devices out in the market that will acheive what I want to do but not require some substantial elite network training degree to hand code everything in console/terminal? Any other suggestions appreciate to acheive what I explained above. Thank you for reading and your help.

This is exactly how I was hoping or assumed it should work as well but it does not seem to behave that way. HOWEVER, after posting this I did find an interesting possible solution. If you add a multiple subnet of 192.168.0.0 @ 255.255.0.0 and have the device at 192.168.1.1 @ 255.255.255.0 you THEN are able to acheive segregation under the VLAN functionality of the device. I need to look into this more, I'm sure it makes sense to someone, somewhere, but just not me at the moment. Brain is mush after troubleshooting different options and scenarios.

  • VRF configuration on subinterface and VLAN subinterface

    Hi
Can I configure VRFs on subinterface (physical and VLAN) basis in a normal BGP/MPLS VPN configuration.

    Hi Sultan,
You are very welcomed, i'd be more than glade to help you out your confusion, below is the output of one of my lab PEs, and moreover i've in production customers running with this setup, i've never faced the issue you are describing, if you can regenerate the test you are describing we can elaborate on it:
    interface FastEthernet0/0
    no ip address
    interface FastEthernet0/0.1
    encapsulation dot1Q 101
    ip vrf forwarding a
    ip address 101.101.101.1 255.255.255.252

  • AP541N cluster and VLAN

    Hi.
    Simple but not obvious question.
I've added separated wifi for guest with VLAN ID 300. Now I have 2 more access points. They are in cluster but only one is connected to smart switch SLM2008.
Should I need to connect all of them to smart switch? I do not understand how cluster and VLAN work.

    Hello Tomasz,
Yes. I guess you need to connect all APs to the switch (same bridged network). Clustering only makes all your AP act as one single entity ( you don't have to connect to the second AP In a cluster separately. Same wireless configuration will do).
Refer Clustering section under the below manual for further details:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/csbap/AP541N/administration/guide/AP541Nadmin.pdf#page139

  • Difference between bridge-group and VLAN

    Hi all,
I don't understand very well the difference between bridge-group and VLAN...
Could someone explain me or give me a site which could help me?
    Thx U by advance!

    Khay
bridge-group is used on a router to enable bridging on an interface. In terms of functionality a bridge-group is very similar to a VLAN. For example if you create bridge-group 1 and assign it to interfaces FastEthernet 1/0 and 2/0 and you create bridge-group 2 and assign it to interfaces FastEthernt 1/1 and 2/1 it is like creating 2 VLANs. Devices in bridge-group 1 (interfaces 1/0 and 2/0) can communicate with each other but not with devices in bridge-group 2 (intefaces 1/1 and 2/1).

  • Software update and iLife help not working in Admin account

For the last few weeks (maybe since iLife 11 was installed) software update and iLife help has quit working on the single administration account on my iMac. All works fine on the secondary accounts.
If I try to use software update it says everything is up to date, even though I know there are updates available that can be seen if checking from a different account on the machine. In iLife, if I try to access the help files it tells me I need to download them. I click to download and after a few seconds it takes me back to the front help page and I then go through the entire process again but the help download never happens. On secondary accounts the help files work no problem.
I've tried many of the tips for deleting helpfile plists, but nothing seems to work for me.
Can any kind person list for me everything I should look to delete or move in the account to get these things working again?
    It would be much appreciated!

Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

Now anyone can click "This helped me" to say thanks to helpful members. When several people mark the same post, it will earn a gold star and appear at the top of the discussion, so it’s easier for others to find. The poster will also earn five reputation points for a job well done.
Does anyone know (or is it written anywhere) just how many is 'serveral'? Is it decided on the fly? Or does it depend on the phase of the moon?
Will the points be awarded to the poster only once, or if say 100 people mark it as helpful will more then 5 points be awarded?
Sounds like a really good system but it seems that a bit more thought should have gone into it, no? Or at least the explanation could be clearer.

I sort of agree with this new "Helpie-ette" deal. I wonder why while at this portion of the UX they didn't address the ongoing issue of the "irrevocable nature " of the OP awards of the traditional Green Stamp and Gold Star - I have made the mistake (once) but I see the silliest things marked Solved frequently. THAT is bad for business in that it gives false visual info and false statistical results.
We'll see... BTW, the [People] TAB itself is the only new thing (the CONTROL in the TAB bar) - the URL has always been alive and well if one knew to add " /people "

  • How can I get no answers and no help!

    Hi All,
I am so angry frustrated and fed up with BT its not real and after a month of useless customer service people in every country in the world I have decided to get ofcom involved as BT just dont care at all.
I have been a customer for BT for about 7 years and always paid my bills ontime and have many time in the past recommended BT (Not anymore) alot not only to friend but also to businesses.
After a messy split with my partner i had to move from my property so on the 6th of January i called BT's moving team and got the process moving to move all my services (phone, broadband & bt vision) the guy was really helpful and said that the old phone and services would be disconnected on the 17th Jan and broadband the same day, he then went on to say that an engineer would have to come to my property on the 21st to check that the bt vision would work correctly as there was low bandwith where i lived but thought it would be ok.
So i thought great all done but on the 17th nothing happened at the new property i call CS and the lady did try to help and after talking to the old line user said a mistake had happed with a cancellation and they would sort it all out by the 19th so dont worry. 19th comes nothing so another call to CS they could not work it out so put me through to a guy in the UK who could not have been more unhelpful if he tried. He said that the engineer had reported a problem but i would have to wait. At this point i thought i would complain as i had not had any comms from BT at all i had to do all the calling even though they say on the website if the date are moved they will contact you.
i tried the only complaint messaging service this time. The guy tried to be helpful but then informed me that my order was cancelled? Why i asked he said he did not know but would have to call me back. Well he did call back the next day and still had no idea what had happened and i have now not heard a thing from him since last thursday.
On Monday i logged into my account and now it shows i wont get any connections until the 7th of feb so i called and said its a joke and whats going on. The guy said what do you expect you only placed the order yesterday? I asked what? and then looked at the only account and true enough the order date had changed to the 23rd and they could not see the previous order even though the order number had not changed. Its a disgrace as i think you will find the moving team dont work sundays so i know someone has changed that so it did not look so bad. The person said he would escalate the connection (I bet he did not as naff all has happened). He said he would get his manager who i have to say i dont think was i just think he passed me to his mate to try and get me off the line. He said they would get it sorted and come back to me with 24hrs and guess what Nothing.
So if you are a good customer and pay ontime this is what BT really thinks of you and will help you if things go wrong. I have got a complaint reference now and will be keeping a diary of events in order to contact Ofcom when it is all sorted and to post on onther forum the outcome and how i was dealt with.

Well the useless system has done yet another update and useful as usual it now says my connection date for BT Vision is 26th Jan (2 days ago) but the phone and broadband will be 7th of Feb so that will be a full month since i placed the order and still nothing from anyone at BT.
Nothing about the original engineer visit or anything so this is going to roll on and on and the so called escalation, well they may as well said what can we say to you to get you off the line as i bet there is no such thing as escalition at all as so far all its done is push these so called dates further and further away.
Oh and here is a another nugget of so called customer service for you is you ask about compensation for all the calls, hassle and stress they say you cant have a thing as it says it in the terms & conditions. Oh well in that case why call you team customer services if you cant really stand the customers and cant admit when you make a massive mistake causing untold hardship to the customer that you would like to make up for it in someway.

  • IOS 8 - Disentangling Camera Roll and Photostream - help!

In iOS 8, Apple removed the “Camera Roll” and “Photostream” albums and collapsed them into a single stream of photos on the camera that can be accessed under “Collections”.  “Collections” also includes all other photos otherwise loaded onto the phone, e.g., via iPhoto. This new arrangement upsets several familiar ways in which I’ve been using my iPhone and its camera, and I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to recapture a few simple functions.  (I have submitted Feedback on the elimination of the Camera Roll, and with this post I am looking for practical solutions to a series of new problems.)
Question #1.  I maintained my Camera Roll as a reasonably-well curated set of maybe 300 photos & videos, taken on my phone, that I could pull up easily to show to people.  I would like to know if there is a way to restore that functionality in iOS 8.  “Recently added” does not go back far enough (one of my favorites was the very first photo I took with any iPhone, back in 2007); and “Collections” shows way too much – it includes everything in Photostream, as well as photos from Albums of scans, non-iPhone photos and other sources that I’ve synced to the phone with iPhoto.  Thousands of photos.  I also don’t care for the way in which Collections interrupts the thumbnails with date and location information.
Question #2.  I kept Photostream turned on on my phone, because I liked the idea of automatically uploading photos to the cloud, particularly on trips when I was not in a position to download the photos directly to a computer for backup and safekeeping.  However, now that Apple has eliminated the distinction between “photos in my pocket” and “photos in the cloud”, it appears that whenever I want to delete a photo from my phone (e.g. to save space) I must also delete the corresponding Photostream copy.  Is there a way, with Photostream on, to delete local photos without also deleting the copy that has been uploaded to the cloud?
Question #3.  I have a few old iOS devices that I let my kids use.  They like to take photos and screenshots.  Most of them are pretty stupid but once in a while they do something great. I’ve left Photostream on on those devices to see what they’re up to, and to capture the occasional gem.  This was fine, when “Photostream” was a separate Album that I could look at, or not, as I chose.  In iOS 8 however, all of their junk photos appear in “Collections” and are as much a part of my phone’s photo repository as the carefully-curated Camera Roll photos used to be.  Is there a way to keep Photostream photos out of my “Collection”?
Question #4.  I suppose someone could write an app that does nothing but display photos that were captured by, and reside physically, on the device.  Perhaps someone already has, if anyone knows.  Of course I’d prefer to use the native app for this function, but I’d take the function over nativity if I had to choose.
Question #5. Does anyone know (“know” – please no speculation, and nothing that an NDA forbids) how the iCloud Photo Library, which dropped back to beta in the final release of iOS 8, works? Does it provide the backup and safekeeping function of Photostream, along with the ability to view that set of photos separately?  If so then I could turn off Photostream and at least get rid of that clutter.
Thanks for any and all help.  And by way of reminder - https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html .

Here's one, eh, kludgy fix for Question #1.  I don't exactly recommend it - it can be pretty laborious - but in the end it seems to get me back to about where I started with my Camera Roll.
Go into "Collections" and scroll back to about the date at which you expect to find your first native iPhone photo.  (I have many imported photos that predate iPhone, so I can't just look at the first ones.)  Tap through until you are looking at a single photo.  Look at the bottom.  If it displays a "Favorites" heart, it's physically on your iPhone (and as best I can tell, was taken by the device).  Tag it as a favorite.  Swipe to the next photo.  Skip if it shows no Favorites heart - that means it's not on your phone - and tag it if it does.
At the end of this process (did I mention it's laborious?), you should have a Favorites album that matches the photos that were on your Camera Roll when you upgraded to iOS 8.
