Advice using workspace in custom ADF application

We are analyzing Oracle BPM 11g beta and would like to understand existing resources for building worklist views, task status, bpm reports, etc, into our custom ADF 11g application. We want to create components on our ADF application pages that mimic these features provided by Oracle Workspace. Are there APIs, libraries or rich components that exist? We have reviewed Chapter 29 of the Oracle SOA 11g Developer Guide which discusses a programmatic solution for building a custom worklist client. We are wondering if there are any alternative rich components or declarative solutions for this functionality.
Any help or advice is appreciated!

Sorry for the delay on this one.
Our 11g api is completely backward compatible with 10g. So the source we provide for the JSP based worklist app in 10g still works with 11g.
Starting with BPM PS1, we are also providing reusable taskflows for customers to create their own ADF app and reuse our worklist regions in that app.

Hi,
I want to use Process Instance Details Task Flow which is referred to in the doc below.

But I could not find the task flow in the JAR files nor in the libraries described in the doc (Actually I could not find one of the JARs itself, adflibWorkspaceTaskFlows.jar).
Does anyone know where can I find it and how to use it?
It is more convenient if I can create a custom ADF application which contains information on process instance details using Java API for BPM.
So I'd like to also ask whether such API is available or not.

I also can't find the adflibWorkspaceTaskFlows.jar from the specified directory in the [ BPM Users Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/user.1111/e15175/bpmug_ws_taskflows.htm#BACBBDCE] : "$FMW_HOME/AS11gR1SOA/soa/modules/oracle.soa.worklist_11.1.1"
When I tinker the OracleBPMWorkspace.ear from the $SOA_HOME\soa\applications, it has the OracleBPMWorkspace.war that contains the adflibWorkspaceTaskFlows.jar in its WEB-INF\lib directory, but the adflibWorkspaceTaskFlows.jar does not contain the "processApplicationsTaskflow.xml" or the "processInstancesTaskflow.xml". Those task flows were present in the WEB-INF itself of the OracleBPMWorkspace.war itself which is not deployed as an ADF library.

I have a requirement where i have to open BPM worklist app when a user clicks on a custom ADF application link.
Scenario
1) In custom ADF application we have a link.
2) user selects the link and we have to open the users BPM worklistapp page.
Can you please let me know if this is possible or not? If so can you please help me out

Hi,
since you implements the backing bean from PagePhaseListener. some where the same view is excuting before getting the selected record. Even if you select the record after excuteQuery() it will set the first record as selected. Please try to check some where query is excuting.
try give some more details like what are all the methods you are using in PagePhaseListener and where you worte u r coding.

For this I observed that solution is removing the wlfullcient.jar or weblogic.jar from the libraries. But If I do not use any one of them then data source does not work. Please guide me with your suggestions.

This is configured in your database access layer - if it is using ADF BC then in the Application Module go to the configuration tab and edit the local configuration to see the information about which DB you are accessing.

Is it possible to use Webcenter task flows i.e. Poll Service in a custom ADF application?

We can use the Poll service in our WebCenter Portal application. Is it possible to configure an ADF web application to use WebCenter Portal's task flows? How can we achieve this requirement?

Cannot Use JaxB classes in ADF application.

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6
I am trying to call the Oracle Business Rules (OBR) Ruleset from the frontend.
When I call a simple rule only using Java facts (facts are object references of classes which are used in OBR) as input, the Rules are verified and executed correctly.
After that I tried to give XML Facts as input the application is facing ClassNotFoundException.
To access the XML facts I had to add the XML Fact class known as JAXB_CLASSES into the Libraries and Classpath of Project Properties.
First I tried to call the OBR rules containing the XML Facts / Jaxb_classes from the page and it throwed ClassNotFoundException while deploying the application.
Next I tried to invoke the Jaxb_classes from main method and it worked fine.
My Question is : How can I access JAXB Classes in an ADF View Controller Project/ Application?

Design Suggestion for Custom ADF Application

I have a custom database table.
I have a custom database view which has query from multiple tables including the above table.
The custom table in the view is joined with other tables by columns like inventory_item_id, organization_id etc.
I have to show user a screen where the results of this view are shown in a table.
The user should be able to enter some data in the screen for these rows.
(he will be able to enter the data only for fields from my custom table)
When he press save button, we should enter the new data given by user into the custom table
along with some other values from view rows .. like inventory_item_id, organization_id etc ..
Can you suggest a best approach to achieve this ?
I have to use BC4J for Model and ADF For UI.
As far as my knowledge goes, I think we will not be able to do this with an updateable view since we might hit the error
ORA-01779: cannot modify a column which maps to a non key-preserved table
Is there a design pattern we can follow in BC4J so that this can be achieved?

Any view can be made updatable if you write INSTEAD OF triggers for it. That might be a good solution for you. You can also base a View Object on more than one Entity Object, and as long as there are good associations between the EOs it ought to work fine.

Using Workspace to access Essbase Application - HELP

I have created an application in Essbase. Is there anyway that I can register and import the app into Workspace; more specifically Performance Managment Architect or are Essbase applications completely isolated? Please help. The Essbase application is registered in Shared Service but that's as far as it will go.

How do I access the app through workspace? I have done the following steps:
- created the application in Essbase Administration console.
- Registered the app with shared services
- Exported the dimensions to ss
- provisioned the user to have a global role on ss of application and dimension creator and on the essbase app as application manager
- synchronized ss; logged onto workspace
The app created in EAS does not reflect.

Is it possible to call the Print Quote functionality from Custom ADF page

We are researching if it is possible to call the Print Quote functionality from the Custom ADF application.
Goal is to pop up the PDF report upon clicking the Print Quote button on the custom page. Is it possible ?

How to invoke ADF application URL from OAF?

We have a developed a custom ADF application using Fusion Middleware 11g.
We would like to integrate this ADF with existing EBS/OAF application.
We were able to invoke ADF URL from EBS responsibility with a special function type "ADFx" in R12.1.3.
Now we need to pass context/profile level parameters from EBS to external ADF application. Like logged in userId/RespId etc...
We are running ADF application also in same EBS DB and hence want to use same fnd_user/Resp concept in ADF.
Can anyone help me on how to pass these parameters like userId/RespId from EBS to ADF while invoking ADF application URL?
If we can append the values to ADF URL, we would be bale to parse them in ADF context. But, i am stuck at passing parameters from EBS.
How Can we invoke ADF URL from OAF page? is there any specific function available or is it just URL invoke?
Also, in OAF the logged in user session information is maintained in cookies(if i am correct), is there any way that we can pass the session level values from OAF to ADF?

I know what is happening, but i do not know why.
The taskflow has a jspx whith a component binding.
That binding points to a pageflow scope bean, defined in the taskflow.
That bean also is used to get the parameters when the taskflow is called.
I printed the bean hashcode, and for my surprise the parameters are passed to a different bean instance that the binding bean, the beans hashcode are differents.
Why ? Is that a bug ? What do I have to do ? I need to set the binding to the same bean that gets the parameters.

Facing problem when Integration of configurator with ADF application

Hello,
Integration of conifigurator with custom application is not returing to "return_url" after clicking on Finish button in conifgurator.
We have developed a custom ADF application which integrates a configurator.
We have follwed the below url on developing this.

After completeing the configurator process, but the page is still showing as loading and not returning the return_url parameter mentioned in initialization parameters
So we are unable to get the FacesContext of calling application as it always returns null.

How to Generate Audit table entries for user navigation in ADF application?

Hi all,
I have a requirement that I need to have audit table entries for each user action in my application. Along with entries for user actions like insertion,deletion and updation I also need to have entries in the audit log even when a user simply navigates to or views any page.
Although I was successful in creating the entries for user actions like insertion,deletion and updation I failed to do so for simple user navigation through the pages.
Can anyone please help me out?

Fusion Applications 11.1.7: Deploy a custom ADF page to Fusion Applications

I am trying to create and deploy a custom ADF page in Fusion Applications(in premise) which will allow search, create and update operations on a custom table. I have been going through a pile of documents and this forum but I still have the following questions.
I have a PageA based on the UIShell. This page is linked to the taskflow TaskFlowA which provides the search functionality. TaskFlowA calls TaskFlowB and TaskFlowC which provide the create and edit functionalities.
I have enabled security from Jdeveloper (Application>Secure>Configure ADF Security)
Question#1: Is this step required?
To deploy it I will generate the ADF Library JAR for the Model and ViewController. The ADF Library JAR for the model will be placed into the <ExplodedEarDirectory>/APP-INF/lib directory of an existing application(say HCM). The ADF Library JAR for the UI will be placed in the <ExploadedWarDirectory>/WEB-INF/lib directory.
Question#2: Are any other steps required for deployment.
I will then add permissions for the page by following the steps in How To Configure Security For Custom Pages/Taskflows Added To Fusion Applications(Doc ID 1486524.1). This document lists the steps for configuring authorization policies using APM.
Question#3: While specifying the resource type in APM, I will select RegionResouceType and set the Name to PageA. I understand that I need to provide the full path of PageA in the form xx.xxx.xx. But how do I get the full path?
Finally I will add a new menu entry in the Navigator menu using the setup task “Manage Menu Customizations” by adding a new item.
Question#4: What will be the value of Focus View Id for the new Item? Will it be the Focus View Id that I provided while creating the menu file in JDeveloper?
Question#5: What will be the value of Secured Resource Name? Will it be the same as what I provided in Question#3 above?
