Advise on Actions

Most of clients send us huge jpgs. We resize them to 3" x 2" @ 300 dpi. (no actions used to resize because they are all different sizes & orientations)
The department have an action that does the following:
Convert to CMYK
Save as .eps (eps files are for printing purposes)
Change pixel dimensions to 500 wide (using Image size window)
Save for Web Devices as jpgs 40 quality
Change Image pixel dimensions to 256 wide (using Image size window)
Save for web devices as jpgs 40 quality
Change resolution to 72 dpi
Convert to RGB
Save as .bmp
Change Image pixel dimensions to 60 wide (using Image size window)
Save for web devices as jpgs 40 quality
At the end you should have:
1 .eps for printing
3 different size jpgs for web
1 .bmp for the database
This action have been used for years, never been recreated from scratch in a new version. Now we are using CS5. On previous CS versions in the Save for Web Devices there was no Image size option (see screenshot). Is it OK if I delete steps 3, 5 & 10 in the action & do that in the save for web for devices window? I'm assuming the Image size on the Save for Web devices was introduced in CS4.
I experiment a little bit with Image processor but disadvantage of using it for our needs is that it can't create .eps & .bmp files. We can't use tiff files. With the action I can do everything in one shot but if you think there is better method please post it.

As I mentioned before part of the action involves using the Image size window to size the image in pixels & then use Save for Web Devices which automatically change the resolution to 72 dpi.
Why not set the resolution in an Image Size-step without Resampling and then Fit Image?
I experiment a little bit with Image processor but disadvantage of using it for our needs is that it can't create .eps & .bmp files.
You could customize the Image Processor-Script – or ask in The Scripting Forum if someone has added the features you need already.

I have Adobe 9 Pro. This includes LiveCycle verion 8.2 ES. But I do not have Action Builder. Can you advise if Action Builder is an additional feature that has to be purchased and if so how can I go about getting it?

Action builder is a feature of Designer not something that needs to be purchased separately. If I remember correctly you need Designer version 9 or above.

Unit of measure is not an ISO code

Dear Expert,
Unit of measure M has ISO code MTR and Dimension length. the UOM is in sync with ECC6 . However when trying to order from srm it bounces back with error message Unit of Measure M is not an ISO code. Further checking in CUNI shows that the SI Unit is defined as the same as the UOM. I have tried to convert this but it is not allowing me to. Some uoms are unavailable in SRM such as KM and CM which may have something to do with it.
Can anyone advise what action to take.

In my system I have the same configuration. Are you creating a cart from catalog?
If so, you could try the following:
1. If it's possible, change the UoM in the catalog to match the ISO Code. In this case MTR.
2. If the first option is not possible, then code the BADI BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER to convert the provided UOM to match the
ISO Code of the SRM system.
Remember that the check on the ISO Code takes place before the BADI is called so you need to clear the error message regarding the ISO Code from table et_messages.

External HDD "not readable" - Any way to recover data?

I have a MacBook Pro with 10.6.4
The external HDD is a 320GB 2.5" Samsung. Using my MacBook Pro, I formatted it to have a 250GB partition for TimeMachine, with two other partitions for Windows computers as I was traveling without my MacBook and needed to backup photos.
I used the HDD successfully for 3 months with no problems. But when I returned and tried to put everything on my Mac, Disk Utility told me I needed to verify and repair the disk. As it wouldn't mount, I performed the tasks that DU suggested, but now I am stuck with four partitions(?) which are not readable. And now DU does not give me any options.

The disk spins up normally, with no abnormal noises. I suspect there were plenty of Windows viruses (as I had to use many PCs over the 3 months), but the last time I used the drive successfully, it was on a PC and I successfully transferred items onto it.
Please could you advise on actions or further diagnostics I should do. Luckily I bought a 16GB flash drive to make a 2nd backup of photos, but there still important documents which I need to recover off the HDD.

Problem In F110 with status message " Payment run has been released "

We have an Strange issue in payment program...
While executing the payment program they got below Status Messages
Parameters have been entered
Payment proposal has been created

Program ends up without single payment....While trying to Delete the Proposal or Payment those selection are in grey color (Deactivated Mode) ...
With same parametrs we have tried to run another payment run but there is no proposals selected...
Question :
1) How can I delete 1st Payment Run Proposal as well as Payment ID's
Could you please Advise Neccessary actions which is required for solving the issue...

You can delete the payment run proposal in the following sequence
1) first delete the output file
Edit-Payments-Delete output
2) delete the proposal file
Edit-proposal -Delete
3) if u want delete the parameters also in the similar way.
for digging the problem why the payments are not happened, just check the exceptionals list then u can easily catch the error point.
I hope it will provide some clue to clear your problems.

HT6400 Problems with IMAC ( 10.9.5) update

I already started a chat with Eric Root which didn't resolve anything ( but he seems to have disappeared!) . OriginallyI thought that my problems following Mavericks update a few days ago to 10.9.5 were limited to e mail but I now realise that neither Notes or Calendar are updating or synching with iPhone or iPads.
In terms of what I can establish, the IMAC IS connected to the internet and all passwords are correct . I have changed nothing on set up . The e mail account settings ( account name, type, incoming server , user name , p/w, and outgoing server , advanced settings i.e. port etc ) are exactly as they were before the mavericks update ( and exactly the same as my macbook which is still running 10.9.4!
Can somebody advise what action either I need to take or are you experts at Apple on the case ?

How did you update to 10.9.5? From the App Store. If so you might try downloading and manually installing the OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update (Combo). When available I prefer to run the combo updater.

Errors when accessing Encrypted Local Storage

Hi there,
I develop an AIR application and some of the users of the application are running into an issue when accessing Encryped Local Storage. Sometimes, when the application tries to put or retrieve an item from Encrypted Local Storage, these errors are reported:
Error: general internal error
EncryptedLocalStore database access error
I've searched around a little and it appears that these errors occur for a variety of reasons. Sounds like corruption to the user's keychain can result in this error being thrown (repairing the keychain was mentioned as a possible solution in one blog post). This same error happens to some Linux users (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/492/cpsid_49267.html) when switching between Gnome and KDE desktops too. http://blogs.adobe.com/koestler/2009/07/unreadable_encrypted_local_sto.html seems to suggest that changing of usernames on the machine can have an impact on how the ELS is accessed.
In terms of a solution to this issue, I've seen multiple posts online asking the user to delete the ELS directory on their computer. While this 'solution' works for some users of the application I develop, it doesn't work for other users. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/239605 seems to suggest that a full factory reset of a user's OS gets everything back to square one and the ELS is now usable again - that's not really something that I can suggest to a user of an application. It seems a bit drastic and most users will (understandably) baulk at the idea of a full factory reset.
So, I'm in a position with AIR development where I have to provide a fallback to ELS. Thankfully, I don't use ELS in the application too much, but I imagine anyone that has to make meaningful use of it would be pretty handicapped by the issues above. I guess I have a few questions:
1. Has anyone been able to reproduce the errors listed above? Are you able to get your system into a state where 'Error: general internal error' appears consistently when you try to access ELS? I've tried the suggestions listed in the articles I outlined above, but have so far failed in reproducing these errors.
2. If you have managed to get your machine into this state, what is the most advisable remedial action? As I mentioned above, deleting the ELS directory to start anew seems to work for some users but not for others.
3. Is there anything that someone has tried where they've found a programmatic solution to avoid this issue altogether?
4. Can someone in AIR engineering comment on concrete efforts to avoid these sort of scenarios in future versions of the runtime? Is there any debug information that I can provide from users of this application that could help diagnose this issue further and possibly feed back to the AIR development team?
FWIW, my application descriptor file is pointing at the 1.5.3 version of the runtime. We've seen this happen to users that are running this application with both the 1.5.3 version of AIR and the 2.0.3 version of AIR. We've seen this happen on both Mac and Windows. I've seen this happen with initial installs of the application and with upgrades to new versions too.

As mentioned there, this issues arises because of corruption of keyring database, which in turn could happen becuase of user migration, switching desktops, ELS data migration to a different machine etc In such a scenario, even native applications are not able to access the ELS store (gnome-keyring or kde-kwallet). So there is little that we could do here. We have never experienced a scenario where an AIR application resulted into the corruption of database.
Having said that, if you can provide us a constantly reproducible case (a list of steps which can always get us hit the issue), then we can definitely try to do the best possible in this regard.

ICloud Photo Sharing / Safari sync on 5s, iOS 7.1.2

Hi Apple experts:
An iPhone 5s (A1457/A1530) running on iOS 7.1.2. During usage I observe battery life ( be it usage or standby ) about 1/3 lower than average.
Turned off iCloud service from the start of re-installing 7.1.2 (in DFU mode) last time already. Short battery life still observed since then.
Suspected that some processes are resource-hogging while phone is sleeping.
Connected to my Mac and using iPhone console in XCode to retrieve the following findings:
1: a.Symptom: mstreamd has been working even during sleep yet from the looks of it, it is stuck in an infinite loop.
    Below's an excerpt of the device log:

     Notice the 40 seconds interval between the 2 attempts - the interval pattern is consistent and every time it happens the cpu usage will have a 10~20% spike (monitored using Instruments courtesy of XCode).

                  Worked for a while but mstreamd will come back after restarting / sitting aside for few hours.
                  Deleted iCloud acc on iPhone and it does not go off, stays in background running every 40 seconds till today.
2: a.Symptom: syncdefaultsd working every 2 minutes checking with server. See below for device log:

TL;DR - iCloud related services are still running in background every now and then even after turned off.
Do I need to reset iCloud documents & data service, or reinstall iOS in DFU? Can I restore my backups?
Please kindly advise further actions or workarounds. Looking forward to your reply.

After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.

Initiater for Role removal.

Hi,
I need some update/input w.r.t Role removal Initiator. While configuring the role removal is it possible to use the role status in the initiator? If not how to identify this role is only for the role removal.
Normally we use to put only one stage for Role removal. In the config, no where we are having automatic check for the request is only for the Role removal. So we have to trust that particular stage owners. As per the CUP automation check is it possible to validate this?

I'm assuming you are involved in or victim of a security access review. I'm usually one of those security guys asking for role or transaction removal and you are the main contact in the business coordinating the changes.
The process of remediation will possibly consist of checking which transactions are causing segregation of duties conflict, if they are used or not and removing one side of the conflict by removing an unused transaction.
It shouldn't require the entire contents of a role to be removed - rather swapping role A for role B without a transaction or two.
Removing transactions that aren't used can have more subtle implications which hopefully are found during UAT but is usually missed until used in anger. This what support is for after go live.
Saying all that and depending on your time and skills, you could ask for access to the security person's test user in dev or qas where they are working to run transaction SUIM on transaction for user following the proposed changes and compare that to the actual access of the real affected user in prod. If you can get access to the informer tab in virsa you can use the standard simulation reports to also check the resulting conflicts which will help you talk to the business and advise on actions available. There should be role owners involved in all this as they have to owner the result: expect a request for these for CUP later on
If you can retain control and approval of the (controlled) changes being made to users you will have a better understanding of what is happening, catch potential errors and mediate between security and the business - you have an important task!
Ask for some basic training in standard SAP reports - the security team should be more than grateful for your input

Do the photos display correctly in the media browser when the mail library ("iPhoto") heading is selected? If so, you could simply add the photos from the library rather than the specific album. Alternately, if you have to select your photos from an "album," you could try reselecting the photos in the main library in the iPhoto application and create a different album to see if all photos then show up in the secondary album in the iMovie media browser.
If the "missing" photos do not show up under the main "iPhoto" heading in the iMovie media browser and do not show up in the main library in the iPhoto application, then the files may be corrupted. In this case, simply re-import the original files if possible. You could also try to force a rebuilding of the thumbnail cache, but this is usually done automatically when the application itself detects inefficiencies in thumbnail access or when the application is updated. In any case, there does not appear to be a manual menu option to do this arbitrarily when the user so desires. I suppose you could try to locate and delete the cache manually and hope this forces an automatic rebuild the next time the iPhoto application is opened but I am personally not that familiar with the package structure to advise such action at this time. You might check the iPhoto forum and see if anyone can help you further in this area of endeavor.

Error while transfer simulation version to operative.

I tried to transfer a simulation to operative in CJV4.
But i experienced the below message:

I could not find the reason, since all the the networks have start and finish dates, still i am unable to tranfer sim to operative.
Please advise the action.

As fas as I know, it is not necessary at all to maintain forecast dates before transfering from sim to operative.
As per your reply I understand that no forecast dates were maintained in the operative project before transfering to sim and that no forecast dates are maintained in the sim before transfering back to operative. Is this so, isn´t it?
I cannot think of a reason why this may be happening.
Maybe ask OSS ???

Open fat hdd files in file manager..user mode

Am able to open files from win HDD in root mode..
Cannot open files in ...user mode...

I have discovered that I can ....open in file manager...all of my linux hdd partitions of which there are six...in user mode!! However, none of the windows hdd provide any ...open in file manager...response. This indicates something amiss in the windows area. The file manager runs correctly in ..root... but doesn't do so in user mode for opening windows hdd .
The file manager runs in KDE using ..disc free access to all hdd's.
I used the term....users... in fstab to enable all users.
I don't have a clue for fixing this problem!!!!

I am connected so I ran diagnostics which verifies my Network Interface but Internet Connection Failed as did secure link to Itunes store.
In addition whenever I go into Itunes after a few seconds my AOL home page keeps popping up.
As you see my ISP is AOL and my connection is through a Netgear wifi router.
Please advise appropriate action

How to login the PeopleTools

I have installed Oracle DB and PeopleTools 8.5 successfully in my Windows 7 PC, and now I click the PeopleTools->Application Manager->Connection Type Oracle, and then it let me to input the DB name, user name and password, what information should I input over here? SHould I first create a DB in Orcale that is used for PeopleTools? please advise whgat action I should take so that I can login Application PeopleTools?

If you are going for a peopletools only install then you can use PTDMO/PTDMO or PTADMIN/PTADMIN to login. Again this for a tools only installation. Like Nicolas said "You should follow the guide closely".

Pacman -Syu removes internet access

I performed ....pacman -Syu....
Not knowing what steps the system goes through I allowed it to proceed with every item listed in sequences before the download began by answering YES to all.
Approx one hour later the root prompt appeared signifying completed activity in pacman. (upgrade completed I assume)
Subsequently I find no internet access for KDE e-mail, no ping capability in command line, and no "disk Free" access to hdd's. Entry of ...ifconfig eth0... produces..
Warning: cannot open /proc/net/dev (no such file or directory). Limited output. eth0: error fetching interface info: Device not found.
Please advise repair action...perhaps through arch install CD.

I have researched the files and determined that the original problem was:
I did not complete the download and install of the upgrade because there was a conflict in scrollkeepers.
After correcting the scrollkeepers with -Sf scrollkeepers, I was surprised by the upgrading that occured when I repeated pacman -Syu which had not accured previously. All of this could have been avaided with some understanding on my part what constitutes a pacman upgrade sequence.
At this time, I have looked at pacman log and determined that the upgrades are logged, probably 100 items.
The previous post proves I have "start" control.
One observation: lilo as downloaded by pacman would not work in my system because it doesn't include an append for ide=reverse.
Another observation concerning eth0 which I recall from initial arch problems....eth0 for static IP is not the norm..dhcp is
I suspect that is involved in reconnect for network/TCP/IP.
Examining the eth0 setup in the files shows all entries as correct.
All entries in KDE e-mail are correct.
Attempts to start network in /etc/rc.d failed.
I have entered all data in pacsave for /etc/modules.conf into the /etc/modules,conf file.
I have yet to get KDEMixer going and any sound as well as the internet and I receive "vfat is not supported in this kernel" when addressing HDD's in "disc Free". I don't believe the message!!!
I don't have a clue for what is next!
