AE works fine, connected to internet but AE Utility loses base station
three computers are connected, one with ethernet cable (1st gen iMac G5) and two wirelessly (1st gen MacBook Pro and 17 in iMac Core Duo 2)
All three have connectivity to web but the amber light is flashing and NONE of three computers AE utility can find the base station. Earlier today they could, nothing has been restarted. Furthest is 5 meters away and all have max signal strenght.
Do they lose connectivity from AE to base when they sleep and cannot get it back?

How long ago did you set up your wifi system? When you set it up did you replace and existing Airport wifi system? And, if you did, you should have named it something different than the original system and use a different password.
Make sure that you are using the Airport Utility from the disk that came with the 802.11n Extreme and not the old Airport Admin Utility.
When there is wireless connectivity and the amber light is flashing that is usually because no level of security was set when the system was built. The problem is that the new Airport Utility could help you by telling you why the amber light is flashing, but since you can't scan for the base station you can't get to the base station summary tab to check.

Airport 6.3 utility requires ipv6 local link to work.

But older express may not show up even then. you need to install 5.6 utility so you can access them as well.
It is tricky but if you google around there are a number of methods listed. Here is what I do.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
2. Download and install unpkg.

Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so. -
Mac Book pro can't connect to Internet through Apple airport extreme base station
I had problems connecting to the internet in the past with my macbook pro. One day it suddenly started working again but then I bought a second apple TV I lost connectivity. I have tried changing the IP address manually and while it shows me connected to the wifi I am still with out internet. When I hooked up the new Apple TV that I bought it booted my computer from it's ip address. The apple TV though wouldn't work and now nor would my computer. I ended up setting the Apple TV's ip address manually and now it works fine. My computer on the other hand does not no matter if I set it manually or not. Even if I plug in the ethernet cable from the base station it doesn't work. It show that it has a self assigned IP address. After I set it manually it shows that I am connected both via wifi and the ethernet cable but I can't connect to the internet. If I plug the modem directly into the computer bypassing the base station I get internet and it is using the IP address that worked originally.
It has something to do with the connection from the base station to my computer but this is odd considering every other device I have: iPhone 4, apple tv, apple tv, apple mini with retina display all work perfectly via wifi (newest apple tv had to be set manually as I stated above but now works fine). When I check the ip of the base station itself it seems to be different from the ip of the computer when the computer was connected directly to the router. I don't understand why my computer now can't connect to the internet via the base station whether it be wifi or by ethernet. Can you please help me trouble shoot this?

Please post some screenshots of your AE setup from the airport utility.. I want to see the summary page, then the network and internet tab.
Please tell us what modem you use.. is it a router??
If you have satellite or 3G wimax etc service they often are limited to 5 IP addresses... the AE takes one and then 4 more devices can join .. no more.
You need to also give us the screenshot of the IP you are getting in a computer that works.

Airplay is constantly not working and connected to internet but not showing content
This happens ALL the time. So my apple tv airplay constantly goes out and doesnt work anymore. I try my ipad, ipad mini, and iphone 6 and NONE work. I then I have to reset my apple tv, but then it doesnt show any content. It is connected to the internet and the signal strength is max. I dont know what to do anymore. If I would have known that this device would be a piece of **** then I wouldnt have bought it. Everything is has the current update. Does anybody have any ideas. I tried every step in the troubleshooting from restarting it to resetting my router. Otherwise im smashing it with a hammer and getting fire tv
This is due to a local network issue. The signal strength on the device doesn't account for any issues, you need to go to istumbler or similar to get a network report (to see full representation of signal, noise, and nearby networks. Trying ethernet will also help rule out wifi issues. You are also free to test on another network (preferably a controlled one like Apple's)

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?
Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).

So far I have pulled the system configuration file, I have reset safari, I deleted all old passwords from the wifi network in Keychain I restarted both devices. I am at the end here and I cannot get it to work I have an iMac that works fine with my network but for some reason this computer will not connect. It is system wide specifically to my personal hotspot. I can connect fine to any other network (wifi) but just not mine. I have not changed any wifi settings. I have been trying to figure this out. I have a MacBook Pro Late 2006 model running Lion (10.7.5) So any ideas anyone? Please help!
12. At a WiFi hotspot, you can't get connected. The most frequent reason is the login screen for the WiFi hotspot is only able to be connected with a single type of browser. If Safari doesn't work, try Firefox, Chrome, Omniweb, or Opera.

Safari is not working on the Mac. Internet is fine. mail, App Store etc all working and connecting to Internet fine. Done the latest software update, still not working. When selecting a web address from bookmarks or typing in search bar, partial blue bar only and coloured wheel appears.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
If extensions aren't causing the problem, see below.

I have a Lacie External hdd and on usb 3. Now If I plug in the device it shows a message to connect to windows or mac (Parallels installed) so If I click on mac it works fine well and good but when I select connect to windows it shows a error.
The error that pops up is:
The device "Lacie Rugged USB3-FW" was unable to connect to its ideal host controller.

Thanks.But my 1 tb hdd is already formatted via ex fat which can work on both mac and Windows no limitation of file size also like if we use ntfs or fat it has a restriction of 4gb file size.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.
