Af:query search button partial trigger
Experts,
Having an af:query with table in Jdev 11.1.1.5 page, how can we make the table visible/invisible if the table is empty. I can put
#{bindings.Details.estimatedRowCount > 0 } in my table visible property, but how to put a partial trigger from the default search button in the af:query to the table

I donot think you will need to add a partialTrigger separately. The resultComponentId attribute of the af:Query (which should reference the results table) should take care of this .

Hi,
I want to store a flag in the session scope when the search button of an <af:query> form is pressed. The flag is used to determine if the query has been executed and the result table iterator should provide the result.
I'm still looking for a solution to handle the problem of an automatic query execution when a search page is rendered (see How to execute query only when user submits request in <af:query>
And the solution should work without Java code. :-)

thats a tough question. I have some opinions on how to implement it:
1.) Exposing listeners
Easy (?!) solution, needs managed beans as listeners.
2.) Exposing the commands. Make the commands like 'search', 'reset', 'save' ... accessible by creating extra JSF code for the commands in a facet when D&D the <af:query>.
I don't know if it is possible to implement such a solution, but the developer can extend or adapt easily the behavior to his own needs.
3.) Implement result of a D&D of a named criteria as a series to single JSF components. Each component implements an aspect of the <af:query> component.

Class Cast exception when clicking Search Button in Query component

We have to implement the Query component in ADF programmatically.. We are using Toplink as the Model layer for ADF.
We followed the Web User Interface Guide for ADF development, Chapter 12 (Using Query Components) for the same.
We already have implemented the following classes:
1) QueryModel
2) QueryDescriptor
3) AttributeDescriptor
4) ConjuctionCriterion
5) AttributeCriterion etc.
We are able to see the Search panel in UI with selected fields in Basic as well as Advanced mode.
When we click on Search button, we are getting Class Cast exception.

then look for our documentation on our JDBC extension 'getVendorConnection()". It
will get you a direct Oracle connection for their mis-declared UltraSearch
classes (they declare they take java.sql.Connection, but they really demand a
concrete thin driver connection. No other Oracle driver will be given a chance).

Glass Pane( preventUserInput when user clicks on Search button in af:query)
Hi,
We are using glass pane implementation on a search screen.
When I click on Search button in af:query component (having selectInputDate (Date Picker) components)., glass pane is firing correctly,
but second time when I am trying to select date using Date Picker (and Change the Month), glass pane is fired (entering into handleBusyState function) and calendar popup is not opening.

Partial trigger not woring on the Submit button of the application panel.
Hi,
I am facing an issue that I am not sure if it is a framework bug. I used Submit button on the app panel and would like to hide it in some cases. I used a partial trigger for this button. But it doesn't respond to the trigger at all!. I also tried the same trigger on other buttons on the app panel, such as Done, Save, etc.. they all work as expected. Does any one know if this is as designed or a frame work bug?

Thanks for the reply. Good news, I just found out this morning after I refreshed my view that the Submit button refresh issue is resolved. Looks like ADF team was working on that bug.
I have another question on the app panel buttons.
My use case for this button is to use this Submit button as a Save and Close drop down, with Save As under it. The object has versions with a version navigation pull down list. When navigate to a Pending version, the buttons are like:
[Save] [Save and Close |\/] [Cancel]
|Save As |
when navigate to a submitted/released version the buttons should be like:
[Save As] [Done]
Could you advise how I can achieve this? Currently I make [Save] [Save and Close |\/] [Cancel] invisible and [Done] to be visible for non-pending versions. I also added an additional |Save As | from actionButtonBar facet to be visible in this case, because the original |Save As | is under [Save and Close |\/] , which is not visible in this case. Not sure if it is the right approach. Now the |Save As | is on the left side of the vertical separator, instead of on the right side, since all the buttons under actionButtonBar facet are on the left side of the vertical separator. So you see the buttons like this:

How to Automate the Query Search Upon Return to the Calling Form?

Could you please share with me how to make the Query Search executed automatically each time, when database table is updated, upon return to the “Calling Form” (i.e. FormA in this posting) from the “Called Form” (i.e. FormB from here on)?
I have FormA call_form to FormB. FormB may return to FormA. FormA allows users to enter the Query parameters and perform query Search to the database table with a list of search results afterward; whereas FormB allows users to add or delete the same database table records. Both form images are as follows:

do I copy the above code (i.e. the "entire" code in the "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search) to the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger, or other trigger(s), of FormA to automate the Query Search whenever there is a successful database commit/save? Or
is there a simple way to activate the code in the "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search of FormA? Or
is there a simple way to activate the EXECUTE_QUERY(ALL_RECORDS) command in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger or other trigger(s) of FormA ?

Form query/search issue F6 , F11 + Ctrl F11
Dear Techies,
I have an issue with form query/search mode in oracle applications. The Issue is i have a custom form which has headers and lines. whenever i open the form cursor is defaulting on a column called "Transaction_year" which is a mandatory column, Because of this whenever i want to search first I have to clear the record (Press F6) then press F11 and CTRl F11.
And my client is irritated to press so many buttons. I cannot make mandatory col to optional since it is "Transaction_year" a primary key. I have to customize the form in such a way that it should allow f11 + ctrl f11 to search.
Can somebody help me how can i achieve this. I am new to forms :(I have written this code in form level - when new form instance trigger

What kind of query search is implemented in ADF Query components(ADF Query, ADF Query with Table) ?
The query component provides the user the ability to perform a query based on a saved search or personalize saved searches. The component displays a search panel with various elements, each of which help the user to accomplish various tasks.
Elements rendered by the query component
Search Panel: the panel that encloses all elements rendered by the query component
Search Header: Spans the entire width of the search panel and used to display a disclosure icon, the label, search mode (toggle button) and saved search (choice list of saved searches). The help (deprecated), info and toolbar facets' content is also displayed in the header.
Match Type: A radio button group that appears below the search header, it defines whether the search criteria should be treated as an AND search or an OR search. For details on the conjunction operators refer to the QueryDescriptor and ConjunctionCriterion classes.
Criteria region: A form layout that appears below the Match type, it contains search fields that define the search parameters. For details on search fields refer to the QueryDescriptor model.
Criterion: A criterion represents a single search field, that comprises of an operator and one or more value fields. For value fields that render LOV components, the autoComplete feature is not enabled unless either of the methods, AttributeCriterion.hasDependentCriterion() or ListOfValuesModel.isAutoCompleteEnabled() return true. This is done to allow the end-user to enter partial values with wild-cards and tab around the search panel without causing the LOV dialog to be launched (everytime they tab-out of the LOV value field).
Action buttons: The search panel has four action buttons: Search, Reset, Save, and Add Fields. The action buttons appear below the criteria region. They are end-aligned within the search header.

Thanks for your highlighted point. By that I could resolve about 80% of my problem.
There have to think another small area of regarding my entire problem.
In af:inputComboboxListOfValues only acsept view Accessor or LOV which based on a main VO.
So you say pass bind variable parameter value to ViewCriteria of LOV. I could do this & get filtered data to inputComboboxListOfValues.
But is ther way to pass value to this bind variable by programmatically?
(Currently I could do, pass value to the LOV ViewCriteria via field of main VO)

Search button not displaying search results
I have created a page where you enter a string and click a search button and it will display the file that contains that string. It works on one page but not any of the other pages I have created. I went to dkubiceck page and copied the code for the search button there.
This is the code I used to run the query to bring up the document information:

I can run the script in sql workshop and it returns information but I can't get the page to display anything so I think it has something to do with the search button. Does it have something to do with the button request. I have the request as go which is what the Oracle Text for APEX tutorial indicates. The only thing I added to the query above is a dbms_doc.getlength statement to be able to open a link to the document.
The first 2 times I created this on a page it worked just fine. But now no matter what conputer or schema or application I create this button in it won't display the results. I can admit that I have no experience creating a button with a different request than what comes up in the wizard. And the documentation that I found on creating buttons was of no help.
I have not made any changes to anything in the wizard so can someone guide me as to how to create a button that will allow me to search a document using Oracle Text as described above -
Detail table refreshing without partial trigger!!!

my Jdeveloper version is 11.1.2.3.0
I have a master detail structure on my page and i have two weird behaviors (that i guess are related).
I created the master detail tables in the classic way:
I dragged the master data control and doped it on the page as an ADF table (id t1)
Then i dragged the detail data control (from inside the master data control) and drop it as an ADF table (id t2).
I verified that the partial trigger property of the detail table does not contain the id of the master table (t1).
however (the first weird behavior), at run time, the detail table shows always the right information of the selected master row.
How can this happen?
The second weird behavior is that i have createInsert button (created by drag and drop of the createInsert operation of the dataControl) in the toolbar of the master table.
If i create a new row and fill the required data then navigate to another row, the detail table is refreshed correctly and shows the details of the newly selected row, but if i go back (re-select) the newly created row the detail table does not refresh and still shows the detail of the previous master row!!! (furthermore, i have input date in this newly create row, so if, at this stage, i click on the calendar icon to open it, the calendar doesn't open)
I'm i doing something wrong? or should i change any property of the tables?

Actually no, i didn't commit the new record at this point and this is the problem.
If i commit the new record (using the commit button created from the commit operation of the module), the page refreshes and works correctly.
The problem occurs if i change the selected row (and then re-selected the newly created row) before committing the changes.
Concerning the auto PPR, do you think that deactivating it may help? and if yes, how can i deactivated for this page only?
I tried to change the "change event policy" property of both the master and the detail iterator in the page binding from ppr to "non" but nothing changed. The detail table still refreshes, and the problem with newly created master row still appears.
One adiitinal note: i downloaded the sample from Andrejus Baranovskis's Blog

and the page is working correctly. I also created a jsf page in this project with master detail using the same method i used in my project and this pages also works correctly.
So this means that the problem is with the verision of jdev no? but what what is it???

Is it possible to submit a list item and at same time query/search the results if parameters are matched.
Example - user logon to site enter search parameters and hit submit button. Once done parameters gets saved in list and shows search results on page. I have been asked to do this with
SP designer and InfoPath doesn’t work due items limits.

may i know how the keyword of words to be put? is it together with the user account box, password and keyword?
or it will be like, after user authenticate, it will redirect to search page, so that user may use the search page to input the keyword?

on the button search result give from two criteria parametersYou can!t using af:query. the af:query component comes as is. If you can't do it through the properties, you probably can't do it at all.
As in your other thread, the way to go is to program your own search form. This way you can use a layout and functionality you like.
For this you create a form with input fields for the values you are searching for, put them on hte page in a way you like and in the end by hitting on a button (e.g. called Search) map all inputfields to parameters of a service method you defined in your application module or VO. This service method then executes a view criteria returning all matches in the default iterator (just as if you had used af:query.

ADF BC: createInsert and partial trigger
I notice when i add a createInsert operation to my page and then the corresponding table, JDev will add a partialTrigger to the button.
I don't see why.
When i press the createInsert, the table should have the partialTrigger, not the createInsert button because the table should be refreshed in order to show the new row. But when i add the partialTrigger to the table, than it like an infinite loop. Table refreshes button, button refreshed table,...
It's resolved by removing the partialTrigger from the button but i am wondering why jdev does it?
I think it has something to do with the disabled state of the button but that does not make sense. THe same for the commit button. If you want everything to work with partialTriggers, then you have lots of buttons/tables linking to each other causing loops or does ADF notices that and takes care of it?Hi,
I reproduce your case and I do not see any loop,
about your question that why the createInsert need the partialtrigger :
1-first of all it is because of the the disabled attribute which depends on the table
2- Second, the table row selection is automatically partial, I mean when you click on the row partially the selected row is determind as it is done partially there is not any way
for depended components on the table to notify about the state of the tree(changes of row or anything) so the depended component such as CreateInsert need to set the partial trigger.
3-why the table does not need the partialtrigger at the time of drag and drop, the answer is easy because the default button that you drop on the page is not partialSubmit, so why any other depended component like Table, must have the partialtrigger?? it is only needed when the button is partialSubmit,
I hope my answer is clear enough.
to conclude, there is not any mistake or bug from Oracle for sure.
