Agent Startup Failure - Failed to start HTTP listener.
1) When trying to start the agent I get this error:
./emctl start agent
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3 Grid Control 10.2.0.3.0.
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Starting agent ........ failed.
Failed to start HTTP listener.
2) Any advice on what to look for?
As sim said,look at the log files.Any changes were made on the host before you started the agent?
FYI
I had the same problem the other day when a new HBA card was added and I had to follow the doc 422296.1
BTW first post the errors from the logs may be its due to port conflict also.
Thanks!!!

It looks like you're trying to start a server that's partially running already, so you will want to check what processes are running, too -

Errors when trying to start HTTP Listener (Oracle Developer Suite 10g)
Good day everyone,
I'm trying to do development on some forms in Oracle Forms Developer 10g and I'm having issues creating a local development environment. When I try to run a form in Oracle Forms Developer 10g, I get an error message telling me that my HTTP Listener can not be found. When I try to run my HTTP Listener, I get two error messages:
Error initializing server: IO error reading system
Fatal error: server exiting
Would someone help me with the configuration of my local development environment? I need the environment so I can utilize the debugging tools in Oracle Forms Developer 10g (currently I deploy the form to the Development environment and trouble shoot any issues I have).Take a look at Forms: How to Configure Forms Builder to run forms locally. After you have configured your system, then you will need to start the OC4J instance before you can run your form.

I cannot start the http server. See the commands below:

/opt/oracle/920/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
./apachectl start: httpd could not be started
Anyone can offer some solutions?

at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:110)You probably figured this out months ago, but I just had the same problem.
Here's how I fixed it:
1. Close JDeveloper.
2. Look for a preferences.xml file that contains the string "PacketMonitorPreferences".
I found it in J:\jdev10.1.3\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.36.73.
3. Search for "PacketMonitorPreferences".
4. Remove the whole item that contains it. Mine looked like
<Item>
<Key>packet-monitor-prefs</Key>
<Value class="oracle.jdevimpl.webservices.tcpmonitor.preferences.PacketMonitorPreferences">
<packetMonitorOptions class="java.util.ArrayList"/>
</Value>
</Item>5. Save the file and re-start JDeveloper. It should be OK now. -

Also my emctl status agent still shows the agent version as 10.2.0.2 ??? Please let me know what to do in this scenario.
Will appreciate your early response. ... Thanks & Regards, Deepakcan you report the status of this command and screen output

Manually starting Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and HTTP Listener
I have installed Oracle 9i on Solaris 8 and it stopped with an "Out of Memory" error during the Starter Database creation. I have fixed the memory problem and have now manually started the Database Configuration Assistant manually and managed to install a new database. Now I am trying to start the Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and the Apache HTTP Listener, but I cannot find out how to do this so that I can continue on with and complete the installation process from where I left off.
Do anyone know how to do this? I would appreciate any help that anyone can give.
Thanks
AnthonyLets start with what product you are installing and why. An Oracle database installation, in and of itself, does not install an HTTP server.
Of course one might also wonder why you are, just now, installing software so old it is in desupport. -
Hi Team,

NarendraHi Narendra,
I just checked the link and it was ok. So maybe try again?
Copy/past Alain's post:
Hi,
-Buf cache is too high: SAM->kernel-> change dbc_pct_max from 50% to 10%.
-Whith GPM and command "extract" you can find which process consumme too much memory.
-Install lastest Quality Pack.
-With 32 bits processes, you can have problem with memory quadrant restriction. <= you have 64 bit so this is not of use to you
-Check kernel parameter related to max memory used by each process: maxdsiz
-Verify with swapinfo -tam and GPM -> memory.

I've finally installed it, but at the end of installation process, this error is shown :

I've found nothing especially for this error from Internet
Thank you. Have a good day.

Here you find the instructions for tracing

For Fixing the Agent Installation try this (still applies to scom 2012, except certain path)

Problem in starting HTTP Server (Oracle 9i AS Rel 1 on Solaris 2.8)
Hi All,
I have installed Oracle9i database Rel1 (version 9.0.1) on Sun Solaris2.8) successfully and now, I'm trying to install Oracle 9i Application Server Rel1 (version 1.0.2.2.1) on the same system. I stopped the database before starting installion of AS. My installation is limited to Oracle Forms & Reports Services and Oracle HTTP Server. Installation successfully completed, but, it is failed to start HTTP server. The error I'm getting is:
Syntax error on line 14 of $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/mod__sse.conf
AuroraService - directive already in effect for this server.
$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/httpsctl start: httpd could not be started.
Line 14 in mod__sse.conf is:
AuroraService inst1_http
How can I resolve this issue ? Please help.
An early help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Sajan ThomasHi,
I have resolved that issue by commenting that line. Since I'm not using servlets, I hope that wouldn't create any problems !

I can't see any other place to report this, so I guess I'll do it here. We've written a custom UserManager that works in Orion 1.5.2 and, of course, Oracle J2EE Containers 1.0.2.2 but it gets stuck in an infinite loop calling the following function.
