Agents in Content DB

Question

In CM SDK it was possible to write custom agents, either timer-based or event-based (or both).
I don't see anything about writing agents in Content DB though, although there are agents. Will there be any documentation on writing agents in Content DB?

Hi Phill,
Content DB allows one to register server-side event handlers that get triggered based on audit event critieria.
These custom event handlers also have the ability to be activated at specific time intervals.
The event handlers are lauched by the EventHandlerAgent.
Terminology:
Audit Event (or simply “Event”)
Database record of an operation that has occurred
Audit History
A collection of events for operations that occurred
Two included out-of-the-box; customers can create additional custom Audit Histories
Audit Specification
The definition of the events collected in an Audit History, and other parameters
EventHandler
Custom code that is executed when new events are posted to a custom Audit History, and/or at a specified time interval
Auditing:
Over 300 operations can be tracked
Content DB records events in the appropriate Audit History, according to the AuditSpecifications
Item Audit History and Global Audit History defined out-of-the-box
Audit histories can be searched using AuditManager.searchAuditHistory() method
Results of an Audit History search can be automatically saved in an Audit Report XML document
Custom Audit History can be created and associated with custom Event Handler code
EventHandler able to asynchronously respond to recorded events
EventHandler code runs on the server
EventHandler code can use FDK API
EventHandlers:
Java-based server plug-ins registered with and managed by Content DB
Triggered periodically and/or when audit events of interest occur
If required, event capture may span all domains
Enables custom asynchronous processing of any event (e.g. login, create document, delete, etc)
Capable of calling out to any library or process that is accessible from Java; examples:
Invoke a BPEL process with Oracle BPEL native Java API
Send email with Java Mail API
Handler runs with system session
Domain context must be set
