AIR getting CPU usage

Does anybody knows how to get CPU Usage from AIR?
I got it by Native Process listening to a Console Executable that gets info from WMI, but this process consume 25% from my CPU!!!
Any help will be welcome.

You can use >sar<
Usage:
$sar 2 10
where 2 means it will check cpu usage every 2 seconds and 10 means it will check the CPU usage 10 times.
So this query will run for 20 seconds......
and if you want to see the CPU usage at a particular time by different ORACLE modules like buffer gets, physical reads etc...... then run statspack it will show all the details

Is there any api that can get CPU usage through the code in an iphone app, thanks.

    Maybe you could use getloadavg():

    getloadavg(la, 3);
    NSLog(@"%f - %f - %f", la[0], la[1], la[2]);

  • IMac Air High CPU Usage while Idle / Kernel Issues

    Hello,
I am attempting to repair an MacBook Air that a customer spilled a small amount of orange juice into. I have completely taken the unit apart and thoroughly cleaned the motherboard and all components. There doesn't appear to be any physical damage done from the liquid. The problem is that the customer claims that since the spill happened the computer runs "very slow" and the CPU usage is very high even while completely idle (Bounces between 60%-80%). Being versed primarily in Windows PC Repair I am looking to post some diagnostic logs on here and maybe get some help from someone who knows what they are looking at. The customer took the machine to the Apple Store and they told them it had a "kernel problem" and would need a new Logic Board. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I just need to know what diagnostic reports I need to post to get this ball rolling... Thank you for your time.

  • Getting CPU usage of a process

Is there a way to get the value of the CPU usage of a process via apple script ?

OK, some things got changed with Leopard and the Unix 2003 compliance thing, and Apple still hasn't updated the man pages (the manual pages in the Leopard install should be updated, so check your man page for ps). Give the following a try (hopefully these options are still the same):
    <pre style="

  • High CPU usage with BT NetProtect plus

Anyone else getting this problem? With no applications running I'm getting CPU usage of up to 100%

I'm an IT engineer and have used McAfee since the early 90's without a problem but there is a problem with mcshield.exe slowing my machine down of in the past few months,  and after being unable to get any sense out of McAfee (as I am no longer their customer, I'm BT's), I thought I’d take a look at it myself.
The problem has been all over the net for months and in my case, I traced the issue to a program called “Trusteer Rapport” which many banks are advising customers to install as extra online protection.  A part of its program that runs in the background called “RapportManagementConsul.exe” seems to be conflicting with mcshield.exe causing it to use up most of the CPU.
I trust McAfee to protect me from the viruses and I wouldn’t like to uninstall Rapport in case my bank decides to use it as a get out clause if my account was hacked, and so what I do not is disable report unless I’m going onto a financial site that Rapport is monitoring but to be honest, it’s a lot of faffing about as it’s not just a matter of turning Rapport off, you then have to stop the “RapportManagementConsul.exe” file running in the background so it’s not a job for the non-technical.
Hopefully, somebody will pass this onto the BT Tech guys and they will escalated the problem before both BT and McAfee get any more bad press and fix this on-going problem.

  • DB CPU usage by %

    Hi,
Is there anyone know how can we get the CPU usage by %?
I noticed that in the Dbcontrol web page , it able to show the CPU used by %(in the Average Active Session chart), so I
guess there must be some way to query it.
I know V$SYSSTAT, V$SESSTAT ,V$RSRC_CONSUMER_GROUP can be queried to get CPU usage by number,
V$SYSMETRIC_SUMMARY show the usage systemwise, not by Oracle process only.
And V$sessmetric show CPU in number not by %.
Is there any view we can queried to get DB CPU usage by %?
    Thanks

And V$sessmetric show CPU in number not by %.
Is there any view we can queried to get DB CPU usage by %?If you tell us the OS, then we can recommend tools that the OS has to
measure CPU usage which should give you a very good idea about
DB server CPU usage - the implicit assumption being that the
server is used as a db and only as a db.
Could you also please expand a little on the context of your request -
what do want this information for?
Do you want it for a particular statement/process or the whole server?
It would be helpful to know exactly what you're looking for and why.
For example, when you say "by %" - do you mean as a percentage
of the machine CPU usage in total?
In that case, Oracle can't help you, because it only knows about itself,
you have to look to OS tools.

  • CPU usage per context on ASA

    Hi Everyone,
I am currently working with ASA 5585 with several contexts and I would like to have an idea of what is the percentage of the CPU used per context.
I already have the opportunity to do it for the whole ASA (context admin) using the SNMP mib CISCO-PROCES but, unfortunalty, this mib doesn't allow us to know the percentage of used CPU per context.
I was able to know the number of core used per context but not the percentage of the CPU used.
Do you know if it is possible ?
    Thank you for your help.
    François.

    Dear Francois,
Here's the answer for the snmp part:
    CPU usage on ASA
The CPU usage is displayed per context (prior to 8.1) when queried by SNMP.
    For example:
    show cpu output:
    shweta-asa-5520/coke(config)# show cpu
    CPU utilization for 5 seconds = 33.3%; 1 minute: 25.8%; 5 minutes: 8.7%
    snmpwalk output:
    root@sw8-ilinux root]#  snmpwalk -OS -c public -v 2c 10.7.14.61 cpmCPUTotalTable
    CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.1 = 1
    CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotal5sec.1 = Gauge32: 33
    CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotal1min.1 = Gauge32: 26
    CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotal5min.1 = Gauge32: 9
The output displayed here is information specific to the coke context.
Prior to 8.1 release, it is not possible to get the total CPU usage of the ASA using SNMP.  This is because there is no SNMP agent in the system context. You can get CPU usage for each context present on the ASA.
To get the entire CPU usage you can run the command: show cpu context all on the CLI.
    shweta-asa-5520(config)# show cpu context all
5 sec  1 min  5 min  Context Name
      3.2%   3.2%   3.1%  system
      0.0%   0.0%   0.0%  admin
    33.0%  33.1%  29.4%  coke
      0.0%   0.0%   0.0%  pepsi
The sum of all the user context and system context gives the total CPU usage.
However, we did add change this behavior in 8.1 release and will  also be present in the 8.2 release.  With this change, you will be able to obtain aggregate device  CPU load via the admin context. i.e. by polling the admin context, the  customer will get the total cpu usage.

  • Sar CPU usage for each processor

In Linux, mpstat allows you to specify a specific processor or all processors when getting CPU % usage. In OS X, sar looks pretty limited as I can only get CPU usage for all processors. I'm trying determine how many cores are in use (basically for figuring out how many single cores are available for jobs if im submitting 1 handbrake job per core)

    hello,
I sugget to create a time series chart with the following SQL:
    with p as (select target_guid,property_value cpucount from mgmt$target_properties where property_name='CPUCount' and property_type='INSTANCE')
    select h.target_name,
    h.rollup_timestamp,
    h.average/p.cpucount pct_cpu
    from mgmt$metric_hourly h,p
    where h.metric_name='instance_efficiency'
    and h.metric_column='cpuusage_ps' and h.target_guid in (select target_guid from mgmt$db_dbninstanceinfo where target_type='oracle_database' and host=??EMIP_BIND_TARGET_GUID?? )
    and h.rollup_timestamp between ??EMIP_BIND_START_DATE?? and ??EMIP_BIND_END_DATE??
    and p.target_guid=h.target_guid
    order by 1,2
You have to select the host target in the report and period is customizable.
I hope this is correct and answers your question.

  • Gnome Volume Control High CPU Usage

    I have an interesting problem.
When I boot into Arch, my CPU usage is farly low. Jumping around 0 - 10% or so.
But as soon as I open up Gnomes Volume Control window. Cpu usage jumps up to 50 - 60% and stays there, No matter if the windows open or not.
My front channel is also at 0% on boot, so I normally go into the Volume Control to bring that up.
I noticed using alsamixer in the terminal will prevent the cpu usage from going so high. But if I open Gnome's Volume Manager, I have to log out, and log back in to get cpu usage back to normal. Is there anyway to avoid this or fix this issue?

This seems to be a known bug. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=gn … h&aq=f&oq=

  • MacBook Air 11" Mid 2011 (Fan & CPU Usage & Kernel_task)

    Hello everyone.
I have a small problem with my Mac which is about its fan noise and CPU usage.
It was running FLAWLESSLY until like last couple of days after OS update where I started to notice really high CPU and Fan usage.
    But first, system specification:
1.6 Ghz Intel Core i5 Processor
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB Graphics Card
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    128GB SSD Storage
For some reason my MacBook Air started to have these "high intensity work" moments when a process called "Kernel_task" started to eat up to 600% of the CPU !
Now I can imagine it's just a software issue since it started to occur after I updated my OS via Software Application and my Flash Player and the rest of my software is up-to-date too but has any of you had this problem before ?
I do not play on my MacBook Air, there are only two things I do - I use Safari and some Adobe software (Photoshop/Flash/Dreamweaver/Illustrator/InDesign/Fireworks) and that's all.

The kernel is using excessive processor cycles. Below is a partial list of causes for this condition.
    Throttling
When it gets high temperature readings from the hardware, the kernel may try to compensate by interrupting the processor(s) to slow them down and reduce heat dissipation. This condition can be due to an accumulation of dust, to high ambient temperature, or to the malfunction of a cooling fan or temperature sensor. Note that if the problem is caused by a faulty sensor that reads too high, there may be no actual overheating.
The Apple Hardware Test, though not very reliable, is sometimes able to detect a bad fan or temperature sensor.
    Using Apple Hardware Test
    Encryption
Transferring large amounts of data to or from an encrypted disk image or FileVault volume may put an extra load on the kernel. If both the source and the destination are encrypted, the load may be doubled. If you transfer data from an encrypted disk image on an encrypted partition to another such image on another encrypted partition, the load may be quadrupled.
This issue probably doesn't affect late-model Macs with an Intel i-series, recent Xeon, or later processor. Those processors support hardware-accelerated encryption. You can determine what kind of processor you have by selecting About This Mac from the Apple menu in the menu bar.
    Installed software
User-installed software that includes a device driver or other kernel code may thrash the kernel. Some system-monitoring applications, such as "iStat," can also contribute to the problem. You can test for this possibility by completely disabling or removing the software according to the developer's instructions, or booting in safe mode (with the shift key held down at the startup chime.) Note, however, that disabling a system modification without removing it or booting in safe mode may not be as easy as you think it is.
    Corrupt NVRAM or SMC data
In some cases the condition has reportedly been cleared up by resetting the NVRAM or the SMC. I can't confirm.

  • Macbook getting how with very little cpu usage

So my macbook pro with retina display is getting oddly hot.
I run a few applications, about 5 or so, and the CPU reached about 95C, then was pulled back by the fans to 80C. I then played 1 game, (and left other aps open), and the CPU reached 101c. I've then closed everything but two aps, an IRC client, and safari with 6 tabs.
    Current CPU usage:
    16 - 19%
    CPU temps:
    Average is 80C
    Fan speed:
    3710 rpm
Program I'm using to record temps:
    Temperature Guage
I've also let the vents on the side of the computer containing the cpu/gfx chip be suspended in air so they aren't onstructed by anything.
Is there something wrong with my MBP? Apple's tests said everything was alright but it's getting VERY hot compared to many stories I've seen across the net.

    ThePilotGuy wrote:
Also, when I restart the comp, should the temps stay the same, even after idling for a minute? They do for me.
Also, restarted my comp, same dock issue persists.
EDIT: Also, when I restart my computer, the background always changes to this grey backgroundless color and I have to re-set it.
And, when I log in, the screen quickly flashes white then takes maybe 5 to 9 secs to login. It hasn't done this until recently.
EDITEDIT: When the background is colorless, the bar at the top of the screen is just black, I cna't read any of the text.
The white flash is normal. That's the end of launchd process and the start of the loginwindow process.
The delay in the appearance of the loginscreen indicates that either
    1. you're running something in
 > System Preferences.. Users & Groups | Login Items
that is causing the problem every time you bootup and login. If either Skype or Limechat are in that list, get them out. Ideally, get everything out of that list.
    or
    2. if there's nothing in your Login Items, you may have a corrupt plist file. Force the system to make a new one by running this command in Terminal (beware that it will reset your Dock to default prefs, so if you've added any other icons to the Dock you'll have to do that again afterwards):
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
press 'return' on the keyboard and restart the mac.

  • Macbook Air running extremely slow - kernel_task at 300% cpu usage

I purchased my Macbook Air roughly 15 months ago and it's performance has constantly been impressive since I purchased it - until roughly a fortnight ago. I came home from work one afternoon and it was running at a snails pace. I had recently upgraded to Yosemite though I'm unsure if this had anything to do with it. I had also recently installed FitBit software to sync to my new FitBit flex.
It has continued to run in this manner constantly since the problem began. It is ridiculously slow, every single request takes a very long time to respond. Logging in takes forever. When I click on an app to open it, the icon bounces for 30 seconds or more, and it's not a smooth bounce either, it's quite a jagged bounce!
I'm hoping someone is able to provide some advice, guidance or help. The laptop is no longer covered by the 12 month Manufacturer Warranty, and I did not purchase an Apple Care plan as no Apple product I've owned before has experienced issues like this.
This whole experience is killing me! I'm suspecting hardware failure and I'm just so sad that this could happen to the laptop I've loved so much since I bought it!
    The problem:
The kernel_task process is constantly running at 300% or higher cpu usage, with Activity Monitor indicating the processor is being maxed out by a system task. Also, the laptop's fan is constantly running at full capacity - from the moment the laptop turns on, or wakes up.
What I think the problem might be:
As a result of many, many Google searches, it appears that this behaviour may be due to the Macbook Air thinking it is overheating - and I will clarify here that it certainly is not. It is cool to touch, always, when this problem occurs. (yet the fan is almost taking off!). As a result of the MacBook Air thinking it's overheating, it not only is running the fan at a very high RPM (confirmed with iStat), but it also is intentionally choking the system with 'simple requests' in attempt to cool the computer down. Apparently this is a built-in feature of OS X. The kernel has priority over user tasks, causing all user tasks to be granted a lower priority, causing the computer to run INCREDIBLY SLOW. Even as I'm typing this, I'm about two sentences ahead of what is showing on the screen!
    Steps I have taken:
    - Read widely across the internet with every possible relevant search term I can think of
    - Downloaded iStat to see if any of the temperatures are too high (they all seemed fine..)
    - Disabled Bluetooth and Wifi. (no change)
    - Reset SMC (multiple times.., no change)
    - Reset PRAM (multiple times.., no change)
    - Drained the battery completely (2 or 3 times, no change)
    - Install Windows 7 on BootCamp in attempt to bypass the issue (CPU usage was 100% constantly in Windows also)
    - Uninstalled FitBit software (no change..)
    - Uninstalled other software I did not need (no change..)
    - Attempt to boot into Safe Mode / Recovery Mode (even in this modes, the same thing is happening)
    - Repaired Disk Permissions
    - Backed up all personal data
    - Used the built-in Internet Recovery mode to format my Macintosh HD and re-install a fresh copy of OS X (Mountain Lion). (no change…)
    - Re-upgrade to Yosemite (no change..)
I've downloaded EtreCheck and here is the output:
    Problem description:
OS X is running incredibly slow. kernel_task process is constantly using 300% and upward CPU usage.

    Hi,
I have an update so I thought I would share in case any other users are experiencing a similar problem.
I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple Store.
I went in and they ran a thorough diagnostic check on my Macbook Air and determined that the sensors were indeed faulty - several were providing no information "No reading" instead of providing a temperature. Thus, the Air was unaware of the temperature across multiple components.
Despite the laptop being outside the 12 Month Manufacturer Warranty, the Apple Store determined that it was covered under warranty through Australian Consumer Law - the laptop is now in for a complete repair under warranty at no cost to myself.
    I couldn't be happier.

  • How could i get the kernel and user cpu usage for each process

    Hi all,
In order to monitor the system CPU usage, I would like write a script to gather the kernel and user CPU usage for each process, like the prstat or top does. As always missing the shortlived kernel usage, prstat or top cann't get the precise CPU usage. I checked with the dtrace syscall, proc and fbt provider, but don't get which one is useful.
Please provide your comments and suggestion.
    Thanks in adv

    mail2sleepy wrote:
As I've studied the "dtrace" for a while, and seems Sun gives a pretty high score on this new feature.....I do want to know whether there's some probe can work for it, like writing a "dtrace" version prstat. You can write a prstat without dtrace. Because that's just polling at specific intervals and reading some process structures from /proc. You could have dtrace fire a probe every 5 seconds and read the same thing, but it wouldn't really be using any features of dtrace. Trhying to write it "in dtrace" doesn't make much sense.
What you could do that would be harder via other methods is to fire a probe at process exit that displayed the process information including total CPU time. They could print exactly when processes exited. Doing that without dtrace would be very difficult.
