AirPlay Mirroring not working on MacBook Pro (Mid 2012, OS X 10.7.4)
I am trying to mirror the display of my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2012, OS X 10.7.4) to my TV using the latest AppleTV. AirPlay works from iTunes to the AppleTV, but I don't have an AirPlay icon in my Display Preferences to project whatever's on the screen to the AppleTV. What could be wrong..? Thanks in advance.
You need to update to Mountain Lion. Purchase it in the Mac App Store.

I am trying to use a PNY 4GB SD Card on my Macbook Pro Mid-2012 (non-retina), but I cannot get it to mount or for the Macbook to even see it's there. I read some people had success slightly pulling it out, pushing it in faster, cleaning the port, etc. which I have tried all of these, but to no avail.
Anybody have an idea?
Thanks,
-Justin B.Had problems reading SD cards after a Mountain Lion update. Try this XQuartz solution that fixed this for me. I'm using a 13" MBP mid-2012. All you have to do is install this programme and re-insert your SD card.
XQuartz no longer comes with new Macbooks, only X11.
See this support page from Apple on where you can download XQuartz.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5293?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
You can download Xquartz directly from here:
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/
This should be the most up to date version. If not check for updates once you have downloaded it.
Simply re-insert your SD card and voila! -
AirDrop doesn'n work between Macbook Pro Mid 2012 and Mac Book Air mid 2013 using both Yosemite

Handoff not working with Macbook air (mid 2012)
So, I just updated to Yosemite and I have enabled all the settings on my Macbook Air (mid 2012), iPhone and iPad. Turned on blutooth, same wifi network, etc... Handoff DOES work from my Mac to the iPhone but will not work from my iPhone to my mac. I've searched high and low and can't figure out why its not working... Any ideas?
*UPDATE* I was able to drop a file to my iPhone via AirDrop FROM my MBP to iPhone. However, I've still been unable to do the reverse (iPhone to MBP).
Same exact situation with same exact MBP (mid 2012 machine). iPhone 5S running iOS 8. I had been trying to go iPhone to MBP for about 30 minutes with no success. Neither Handoff or AirDrop would work. The MBP would recognize the iPhone in AirDrop, but the iPhone would never recognize the MBP as a location to "drop" to.
After reading you post, I tried the reverse (MBP to iPhone). I started an e-mail and got the mail icon on my iPhone lock screen. However, when trying to access the message on the iPhone i received connectivity errors and the "draft" never loaded.
Perhaps the server on the cloud they use for the handoff/airdrop/continuity feature is overloaded due to the rollout. Either way it's entirely more complex to use then it should be. -
Is airplay mirroring not working for macbook air?
Bought my macbook in March of this year and Apple TV last month. Upgrated to mountain lion and airplay mirroring is producing a black screen. Anyone know how to get this working
I had same problem: Mid 2011 MBA, AppleTV2 all updated. Both were on 5GHz network, with failure to connect or lag (delays of up to 20secs in video updating). I changed the AppleTV to 2.4GHz, and the MBA to 2.4GHz, it worked more consitently. I tried audio only and it worked perfectly with both using 2.4GHz, then reactivated video, which then worked better but not perfectly. Have now changed MBA to 5GHz network and it's working perfectly.
I believe this is because I'm streaming in HD to the MBA from webtv (on 5GHz), which is then streaming out the MBA (on 5Ghz) to the router and then from the router on 2.4GHz to the AppleTV. This helps to divide up the (radio) bandwidth. -
AirPlay mirroring not working with Mac mini mid 2011
I recently upgraded my Mac mini to mountain Lion Osx for being able to use AirPlay Mirroring Feature with my Apple Tv3 5.0.
Normal l'y i should qualify for being able to use this Feature but the only thing i CAN get is a green screen... When activating thé mirroring on the upper right corner Of my desktop screen...???
If somebody CAN help trouble shooting this problem
Thanksthe next thing i would confirm is that there is no network issue. is your mini connected to your home network via wifi, or wired? if it's wifi, then i would try to connect it with an ethernet cable, just for testing purposes. if it's connected via wired connection and that's how you're getting your green screen, then it warrants a trip to visit the "geniuses" (please Apple, don't censor me for putting geniuses in quotes). because you would've effectively isolated the problem to your mini. good luck.

Samsung SSD 840EVO not booting from macbook pro mid 2012 after cloning
Hello there,
I guess i'm so stuck with the SSD that i have purchased.
Here is the details:
SSD - Samsung SSD 840 Evo 250GB
MacBook Pro - 13-inch, Mid 2012
Model Identifier: MacBookPro9,2
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
Software OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
Boot ROM Version: MBP91.00D3.B08
SMC Version (system): 2.2f44
I was running with the factory HDD (toshiba 500gb) and thought of replacing it with an SSD . Tried a clean installation of mavericks at first using Bootable USB drive having mavericks. So i went on and installed the ssd replacing the HDD i had and went on to boot up from the USB, prior the installtion i tired to partition it first with single partition MAC os extended journaled with GUID table. But then it did partition but after that it says trying to reinitialize the drive and it never came back although i tried more than five times. So then i went back to my HDD and tired cloning it to SSD using Carbon Copy Cloner, but even for that i had to do the partitioning which failed. Finally i had to go and return back that peice and they gave me another one convincing me that it might a defective peice.
Now, with the second one, at first i booted up my HDD normally and connected the new SSD the USB/sata converter and i successfully partitioned and using carbon copy cloner, i have cloned as well. Now to make sure if its all ok, before replacing the HDD in the main compartment, i just selected the startup disk as the new SSD and restarted the system... it booted up fine like a cheetah... was all gud... i thought everything is pretty fine. Then ofcourse i went ahead and replaced the HDD and powered up the system again, but then it's not booting up... it gives you that folder with ? mark and that's all...
And then i tried some other ways too... i even checked the firmware versions and i guess they are upto date as well. I just dont get the reason why it's not working.
Please help me.
Anjillanyea... i have tried all those...
can you confirm if this is ok to buy:

HT3625 Audio line function not available on Macbook Pro mid 2012
Does Macbook Pro 13 inch (Mid 2012) with OSX Mountain support Audio line? Its seems that OSX Mountain Lion disabled audio line in function in headphone port. This is a bad move by Apple because I am sure that everyone would like to use line in to record audio from external source.
I am trying to connect an external audio source (line in) to a MacBook Pro 15" (Retina, Mid 2012). The built in phones port does not accept input signals (@Branduan: I can't confirm that itis a dual in/out port). I attached an external soundcard (M-Audio Fasttrack USB), but no signal made it into the MacBook Pro.
Any chance how to get an audio signal into that machine?? -
Smc reset not working on macbook pro mid 2010
Hello all,
I have all the problems indicating i need to reset the smc: fans running at full speed, mac doesn't go to sleep when closing lid, battery not seen by computer. this all happend in the process of changing the hdd and reinstalling 10.8.3.
When i try to reset the smc, the led on the charger does not blink or anything, and none of the above problems are fixed, but the computer is extremely slow when started after this reset (mouse lacking etc.).
However if i hold down shift, ctrl and option and release them before the power button, and then release the power button after a few seconds, the computer run perfectly fast, but still none of the above problems are fixed.
Any ideas how i can do a succesfull smc reset?I have an update: the Smc reset actually helps away all the things except, the battery still cant be seen. But suddenly after about a minute, the fans speed up and the computer becomes extremely slow again. Also i noticed that the sleep indicator blinks 5 times before startup. What does that mean?

Parallels don't work with MacBook Pro mid 2012
Parallels don't work with new MBP. It operates with 2011 and under portables.
No answer from Parallels: get you something good?
RegardsTalk to NOVA Development providing your license no. They will respond. If this would have happened to me I'd check permission errors. If none, I would use the DMG file for paralllels, uninstall and reinstall from scratch.

I am trying to transfer files between my ipad 3 and my macbook pro mid-2012 and they will just not connect. I connected them yesterday and it worked fine. And i can not air drop these files into my ipad it has to be done through itunes. And i can not afford to buy a new computer. How do i get these two to connect without having to buy a completely new computer?
Computer USB ports, regardless of the computer maker, have a relatively low power output and thus are not good chargers. They will charge but it takes a long time. You should be charging your iPad from wall power, or a more powerful source like an in-car charger.
Buying another computer will not change that. -

HP Pavilion external monitor has stopped working with my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.3. When I purchased the monitor a few weeks ago it worked perfectly when computer was in clamshell mode or with lid open. Now external display has stopped working. When I turn on display it scans for signal but does not find it and then immediately goes into sleep mode. I am using a DVI connection with the adapter for the mini display plug. REALLY FRUSTRATING. Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Hi lancekatigbak,
If you're having issues with the display out on your MacBook Pro, you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

MacBook Pro Mid 2012 not starting up after Yosemite Update
I'm using a MacBook Pro mid 2012 model , enrolled into Yosemite Public Beta Program ...
After the official public launch , app store suggested that i rather update from beta 5 to beta 6 , as downloading extra 5 gig of OS data seemed unnecessary for me , I just updated from the app store.
Post the update , after shutting down my MacBook , I tried starting it up after 8 hours , it failed to respond to any of my prompts .
Keyboard not responding
Power Button not responding
Li-Po Battery indicator alone works ,
When plugged MagSafe , it indicates charging .
The Sleep Indicator (in the front - that of hard disk drive ) blinks occasionally.
Later, when i tried powering up with MagSafe , It booted luckily , after some 20 hours of work , i shut the system down ,
Again when i tried booting up , it failed .
The problem persists since 3 days.
I tried booting up in Safe Mode - No result
Tried Verbose Booting up - No result
Cleared NV RAM - No result
Cleared SMC as Apple instructed for Intel Based MacBooks - No result.
Removed Battery and kept aside for a while , After an hour tried powering up , It booted up , Went till Apple Logo , The loading bar was some 45%
Then it started to go down with a black screen ,
It never starts up again.
After regular intervals of removing and installing battery , it starts up to white screen and goes off.
I am really worried and desperate now.
I am not sure whether my HDD is dead or my Battery is dead or my Logic board is dead or my Yosemite Install was not right ?
After hours of online research , nothing seems to be helpful .
People at Apple Care (Premium ReSeller , India) are so irresponsible in attending the issue ,
They say its helpless without even doing some basic troubleshoot.
Where would it have went wrong and What am i supposed to do now ?
PLEASE HELP !!darkrider92,
I have the same model MacBook Pro as the one that you got from your mom. Were you able to install the 10.6.8 update successfully onto the factory drive? Were you using the factory RAM when you tried to install the 10.6.8 update on the SSD?
Have you checked the Web site of the SSD’s manufacturer, to see if there’s a firmware update available for the SSD?
You can download the 10.6.8 update outside of Software Update from Apple here; in case you need to try to install this update several times, running it from your local disk would be more convenient than waiting for it to download again. -
Hi there,
I have a macbook pro mid 2012 non retina display and i tried using an external display for it. I hooked it up and the screen blacked out and turned back on like normal and the computer itself was reading that the display was there. The only problem is that on the display itself there is no image of the macbook being displayed. im using a thunderbolt to vga connector and all the connection check out the only problem is the display. the display works on my other macbook that i have just fine i dont understand why it wouldnt work on this new one. Keep in mind i have had this computer for only 5 days.
Thanks in AdvanceHi, cubingcouple.
