Habe meinem airport extreme netzwerk ein neues passwort verpasst. Seitdem findet die airport app auf dem ipad das gerät airport express nicht mehr. Es wird nicht mehr angezeigt. Was kann ich tun, damit mein express wieder genutzt werden kann.

Once you have installed 5.6......
Open AirPort Utility 5.6 select the Airport Extreme (AEBS) and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons
Make sure that there is a check mark in the box next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Update to save changes
Post back when you have completed this step and we will tackle the AirPort Express.
I assume that you have an AirPort Express 802.11n. If you are not sure, check the model number on the side of the Express. It's A 1264.

Airport express bridge mode funktioniert nicht richtig

Der AE lässt sich als Bridge zur Audio-Anlage leicht einrichten und funktioniert sofort, sowohl wenn er per LAN Kabel mit dem Router verbunden wird als auch per WLAN. Mein Problem ist, daß nach Neustart des Windows 8 Rechners der AE nicht mehr erkannt wird, auch das Airport Dienstprogramm findet ihn nicht. Man muss dann den AE resetten per Stromstecker rausziehen und wieder rein. Will ich aber nicht länger hinnehmen. Weiss hier jemand Rat?

The "join" setting on the Express will not provide more wireless coverage.
Check the setting on the Express again using AirPort Utility - Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab just under the row of icons
The setting for Wireless Mode needs to be "Extend a wireless network".
"Join a wireless network" will not do what you want.

Sekundäre Basisstation wird im Airport Programm nicht angezeigt. Warum wird es nicht erkannt?

Möchte mein WLAN Netzwerk erweitern. Hauptbasisstation - Airport Extreme - funktioniert einwandfrei. Die Erweiterung - Airport Express - wird im AirPort Dienstprogramm gar nicht erkannt und kann somit auch nicht konfiguriert werden.
Hat jemand eine Idee?

Second AirPort Express Basisstation not found after update

Hello!
I'm trying to set a second AEBS in client mode (as defined on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108040), because I want to use it for AirTunes while I'm connected to the Internet thru the other AEBS I've had.
I'm following the instructions founded in the support-sites: I do a hard reset for my second AEBS and then configure it with the AirPort Utility (latest version) to use the existing network of my first AEBS.
Everything is ok *ONLY if I let the network unprotected*!
As soon as I try to use some kind of protection (thru WPA/WPA2 and password or by hiding the name of the network or even restricting the computers aloud to access the network thru the MAC-adresses), the second AEBS couldn't be founded anymore after the update.
I've tried this from my MacMini PPC running Leopard and from a pre-latest MBP running Tiger ... both succesless!
Do you have any advice?

Hallo liebe Apple-Freunde,
ich habe ein Problem mit meinem Airport Express und zwar habe ich ihn seit einem Jahr und er ist mit einem Kabelmodem vin Kabel Deutschland verbunden, was bisher super geklappt hat. Allerdings musste Kabel Deutschland zur Verbesserung der Qualität die Einstellungen des Modems ändern und deswegen musste ich alles wieder neu machen.
Jetzt komme ich zwar mit meinem AirPort ins Wlan und habe auch vollen Empfang (Lampe blinkt gelb), jedoch ist es mir nicht möglich ein Passwort drauf zu setzen. Wenn ich dies tue und verwende die alten Einstellung, funktioniert es kurzzeitig auf meinem MacBook, allerdings kann sich kein andere Gerät wie beispielsweise Iphone mit dem Wlan verbinden. Nach ein paar Stunden funktionert das Internet dann aber wieder nicht und die Netzwerkdiagnose fordert mich dazu auf, sowohl das Modem als auch den Airport Express neuzustarten. Dann beginnt das ganze von vorne, einige Stunden habe ich nur mit meinem MacBook Wlan und dann wieder nicht.
Wenn ich die Einstellungen neu mache, dann funktioniert alles bis zum letzten Schritt, der AirPort wird automatisch neu gestartet und dann kommt folgende Fehlermeldung: Der AirPort kann sich nicht mit dem Modem verbinden.
Habt ihr eine Idee, wie ich das beheben kann?

Immer, wenn Sie ändern Netzwerkhardware ist es immer eine gute Idee, eine komplette Power durchzuführen recyceln Ihrer Netzwerkgeräte.
Folgendes sollte als Mindeststandard durchgeführt werden:
Schalten Sie das Modem, eine AirPort Basisstation und Computer (n).
Trennen Sie das AirPort Basisstation aus der Internet-Breitband-Modem.
Während alle Geräte eingeschaltet-down sind, führen Sie eine "Werkseinstellung" zurückgesetzt an der Basisstation. Diese erhalten sie zurück zu ihren "out-of-the-box"-Konfiguration und stellen ihre Einrichtung viel einfacher, vor allem, wenn Sie den "Assistent"-Verfahren verwenden im AirPort-Dienstprogramm. (ref: Zurücksetzen einer AirPort-Basisstation oder Time Capsule)
Nach der Basisstation setzt, gehen Sie vor und schalten Sie es wieder nach unten.
Schließen Sie das AirPort-Basisstation mit dem Internet-Breitband-Modem. Für die Extreme und Time Capsule, achten Sie darauf, das Kabel an der Basisstation WAN (circle-of-dots) Port anschließen.
Schalten Sie das Modem, warten Sie mindestens 10-15 Minuten, damit es genügend Zeit, um zu initialisieren.
Schalten Sie das AirPort Basisstation; warten Sie mindestens 5-10 Minuten. Hinweis: Die AirPort Status Licht kann gelb zu blinken weiter, nachdem es intialized hat. Das liegt daran, kann es einige zusätzliche Konfiguration notwendigen Elemente, wie das Einrichten von drahtlosen Sicherheit, bevor das gesamte Setup abgeschlossen ist, um einen grünen Status zu bekommen.
Power-Up zu Ihrem Computer (n).
In dieser Grundkonfiguration wird der AirPort Basisstation eines ungesicherten WLAN-Netzwerk mit einem Netzwerk Name (SSID) des Apple Network NNNNNN ausgestrahlt. Netzwerk-Clients, die mit der Basisstation entweder drahtgebunden oder drahtlos, sollten nun in der Lage, das Internet über die ISP-Modem zugreifen. Sobald Internet-Konnektivität überprüft worden ist, können Sie das AirPort-Dienstprogramm, um die Basisstation für die drahtlose Sicherheit und andere gewünschte Optionen zu konfigurieren.

Wie kann ich Airport Express ansteuern.

Hallo Leute ich habe einen gebrauchten Airport Express Modell A1088 gekauft. Nun habe ich folgendes Problem. Wenn ich das Dienstprog starte und er die station findet kann ich sie nicht konfigurieren da das Programm zu neu ist 6.1 ich solle doch das Programm 5.6 installlieren. Wenn ich auf der Support Seite das Prog lade und es Installieren möchte kann ich dieses nicht das da ich dieses Volumen ( denke Festplattenteil )nicht verändert werden kann. Was muss ich tun das ich die Basisstaions Software installieren kann :-( bin absoluter neuling in sachen Mac. Habe ein Mac Book Air neuste Version OS X 10.8.1.

Hier sind die grundlegenden Schritte zur Version 5.6 unter Mountain Lion mit CharlesSoft der Pazifist zu installieren:
1. Wenn Sie nicht bereits downloaden Sie das AirPort Dienstprogramm Disk-Image-Datei direkt von Apple Support Download
2. Legen Sie die resultierende AirPortUtility56.dmg Datei auf Ihrem Mac Desktop.
3. Führen Pazifist.
4. Klicken Sie auf die Open Package-Option. Finden Sie die Image-Datei, die Sie gerade auf Ihrem Desktop platziert, und dann klicken Sie auf Öffnen.
5. Das Dienstprogramm wird wie folgt angeordnet: Inhalt AirPortUtility56.dmg> Inhalt AirPortUtility56.pkg> Inhalt AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg> Programme> Dienstprogramme> AirPort-Dienstprogramm 5.6.app
6. Ziehen Sie das AirPort-Dienstprogramm 5.6.app Ihren Mac / Applications / Utilities Ordner.
Sie können jetzt das AirPort-Dienstprogramm aus dem Ordner Dienstprogramme.

Wie konfiguriert man Drucker mit Airport Express?

Hallo!
Ich möchte meinen USB Drucker von Brother mit meinem AirPort Express konfigurieren, damit ich vom iPhone, iPad oder meinem iMac drahtlos Drucken kann! Auf ihrer Homepage steht, dass man ihn einfach per USB einstecken muss und los geht's. Ich habe es mit dem Airport Dienstprogramm versucht aber der Drucker wurde nirgendwo gefunden!

Oh ja meine Frage ist schon ziemlich alt. Du musst deinen USB Drucker an dein Mac anschließen und in den Drucker Einstellungen zu deinen Druckern hinzufügen. Wenn du den Drucker an deinen AirPort anschließt, kannst du von deinem Mac immer noch auf den Drucken drucken, wenn du mit dem selben Netzwerk verbunden bist.
Wenn du von deinem iDevice, also iPhone, iPad, ... Drucken möchtest brauchst du einen AirPrint Drucker. Du kannst mit einem USB Drucker und einem AirPort Express keinen AirPrint Drucker "erstellen".
AirPrint Drucker gibt es aber schon recht günstig. Da muss man nur den Stecker des Druckers einstecken und mit dem Netzwerk verbinden und wirklich von allen Geräten drucken.

Airport Express über WLAN Internet am MAC über LAN??

Hallo Community,
ich verwende einen iMac zum Abspielen der Mediathek und der über das bereits vorhandene WLAN Netzwerk eingebundene APE spielt die Musik über die angeschloßene Stereoanlage ab. Soweit so gut, das Ganze wird über die Remote, vom iPad aus fernbedient.
Nun habe ich folgendes Problem.
Da ich den APE ins vorhandene WLAN eingebunden habe, benutzt auch der iMac WLAN und nicht das angeschloßene Ethernet Kabel um Verbindung mit dem Internet aufzunehmen.Dadurch habe ich nicht die volle Performance meines Internet Providers.
Stelle ich nun, in den Netzeinstellungen, das Ethernet an die erste Stelle, funktioniert der APE nicht mehr, da nun das WLAN an zweiter Stelle steht.
Beide Verbindungen geben aber ihr OK durch die grüne Anzeige bekannt.
Die Hotline meinte ich müßte an meiner Fritzbox das WLAN ausschalten und den APE direkt verbinden (DCHP?????) keine Ahnung, bin kein EDV´ler.
Gibt es dafür irgendwo eine Kurzanleitung?
Ich müßte ja irgendwie dann meinen APE zum WLAN Sender machen!
Und der Mac ist dann weiterhin über Kabel mit der Fritzbox verbunden.
Ich sage schon mal Danke für vielleicht eintreffende Antworten und wünsche noch ein schönes Osterfest.

Yes. In fact, since the AirPort Express is automatically configured in Bridge Mode when it "extends", both ports will behave as LAN ports.

I recently switched my dual band Time Capsule to use different names for the 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz networks.
Will the Airport Express extend both or just one at a time, if so, which one will it extend?
I have two Airport Express modules, bought a long time apart, is there any difference in functionality and how do I tell them apart if this is the case?
All are running the most recent firmware version.

The AirPort Express is a single band device, so it can extend either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band, +but not both at the same time+. Since you have different names for the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, the Express will extend the 2.4 GHz band by default. Using AirPort Utility, the setup application for the AirPorts, it is possible to configure the AirPort Express to extend either band.
If you are perhaps thinking of extending the 5 GHz band, this can be a bit tricky because 5 GHZ signals do not travel effectively over distance or penetrate obstructions as well as 2.4 GHz signals. You almost have to have a line-of-sight relationship between the Time Capsule and the AirPort Express to be able to extend the 5 GHz band.

Look on the side of the AirPort Express for the model number in the small print. You'll need Model No A 1264 to be able to "extend". If you have the older Model No A 1084, that version will not be able to "extend" a wireless network, but you could use it to "join" the wireless network and stream AirTunes to the device.
All are running the most recent firmware version.
That would be 7.5.2. If you have the older version of the AirPort Express, the latest firmware version for that device would be 6.3.

Wireless modem and Airport Express.. one at a time

Recently my internet provider upgraded my old plug in modem to a newer wireless model. Now it seems that the current setting allow communication with only one or the other at the same time. If I want to be online with the wireless modem and send my iTunes music via Airport Express to my sound system, no dice. I have to either click on the modem up in the Airport choices to be online and listen to iTunes through the computer speakers, or go offline to listen to music through the sound system and Airport Express.
I'm sure I'm just missing something in preferences or settings somewhere.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have restarted the computer, iTunes, QT 7.5.5, run disk utility
I get the following error code (-3256) Apple KB research says:
AirTunes: Error -3256 when streaming to multiple AirPort Express units  You may see this message: An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker speaker_name . I followed the KB link, tried KB solution, then I sent this off to Apple.
"Mac G5 2.0 Ghz, OS 10.5.4 just installed iTunes 8, one (1) Airport Express connected to remote speakers. Firewall under Sharing in System preferences does not offer firewall access. Firewall is under Security but "Advanced" is grayed out.
Cannot connect to my remote speakers, worked before iTunes 8"
I have restarted the computer, iTunes, QT 7.5.5, run disk utility, unplugged the airport express.
My G4 PowerBook running an earlier version of iTunes connects without problem.

I just got off a 30+ minute phone call with an Apple Support rep about this. I'm getting error -3256. The rep was patient and tried hard to solve the problem, but was basically clueless. I have a case number and was encouraged to call back tomorrow to speak with a product support specialist.
This stinks. AirTunes is my primary way of playing music from my computer. With no obvious way of rolling back to iTunes 7, this is a big deal.
