AIX installation with MAXDB

Hi,
I am trying to install SAP Netweaver SPS 16 on AIX box
The environment is as follows:
uname -a
AIX ctsaix02 3 5 005438AD4C00
Memory : 4GB
The installation fails with following erro:
MDB-07021  Registry information for database software found in system but the software check failed. The software was not properly removed or installed incorrectly.
I had deletede the folders in the /sapdb directory manually.
How can i resolve this issue.
The installer is not proceeding ahead
Regards
Manoj

Hi,
You can manually uninstall the current database using sdbuninst, as you said you already deleted everything under folder /sapdb you will be not able to do it now.
Now first manually install the software using sdbinst and then proceed with the sapinst, sapinst will skip the DB s/w installation if it find any.
Hope this will help you.
Best Regards,
Sachin.

    Hello all,
I am installing Netweaver CE 7.1 in Windows 2003. Out of the 35 phases , i am getting an error in the 13th phase. The name of the Phase is " Create Database Instance" . An error log is created and the details are as below :

    Execute Command : C:\Program Files\sdb\programs\pgm\dbmcli.exe -n SGPSRV011 -d SMD -u CONTROL,******** db_start

    Subprocess call failedERR

This is the text of the error being displayed :
An error occurred while processing service SAP NetWeaver CE Productive Edition > Installation Options > Standard System > Standard System. You may now
choose Retry to repeat the current step.
choose View Log to get more information about the error.
stop the task and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/CE71_PROD_ADA/INSTALL/ADA/STD/AS.
I feel that this error has something to do with the settings in the MaxDB database. Can you please help which setting needs to be changed ? Both the Netweaver and the MaxDB are on the same 64-bit Itanium server and the OS is Windows 2003.
    Thanks and Regards

Check your max db database build, [https://service.sap.com/pam] and apply a patch if available. Also, you may want to log a problem on SMP.

  • Issues with MDM installation - Windows + MaxDB 7.7

I list here some observations resulting from the installation of MDM on Windows with MaxDB
You can find the documentation here:
    http://service.sap.com/installMDM
    Important is the Installation Guide.
    1) only two files are needed:
    MDM:  51032724.zip (more then 1GB)
    MaxDB: http://service.sap.com/swdc
Support Packages and Patches, Additional Components, MaxDB, MAXDB 64-BIT, MAXDB 7.7 64-BIT -> MAXDB7702_16-10004357.SAR
    2)
the installer propose sometime the path sdb and sometimes sapdb
    I always used M:\sapdb\....
install the maxdb as explained in the inst. guide of mdm
    http://service.sap.com/installMDM
    ( first client , then client+server)
    mdm installation is straightforward
    (3x server + some clients)
    3) Install OSS 684106 (paragraph 3.2.1 in the installation guide)
    4) restart the system after installing
    5) start the console and use only the DB-User SAPMDMDB with password SAP
    6) After creating a repository, log in using the user Admin and no PW
    7) capital letter are in general important

    Hi Manish,
Here are other some problems you may face...
          1) 7.1 does not support some of the database charset which was supported in 5.5, which may lead to re-installation of database...
          2) Multiple workflows on single record was supported in 5.5 but its no longer possible with 7.1, which may lead to redesign of existing scenarious...
          3) A strict ristriction is added in Import manager xml maps, which requires single root element in xml. There is autimatic transformation step for doing this, but dont know how much it works accuretly...
          4) Tuple is added as new structure, but is has more restriction than the qualified lookup, validation are applicable for qualified lookup but you cannot write validation and assignment on multivalued tuple...
          5) PI Adapter is marketed as "it can directly intereact with MDM", but as such there is no advantage because only ftp will get replaced with java api calls, and PI/XI cannot directly read-from or write-to MDM. all the file transfer via import and syndicator remain same continuing "BLACK BOX Communication" bettween MDM and PI/XI.

As per official document it doesn't mention anything about MaxDB. Using a Custom Database
Also, If you have access to SAP support portal, you can check Note 1934552 , It has defined some persistence databases supported by SMP 3.0 server.

  • Installation of MaxDB 7.8 on Windows 7 stalls

The installation of MaxDB 7.8 64-bit on Windows 7 stalls when a "Custom" installation is made and loading of tutorial data is requested.
I've reported the issue and got the following response from the MaxDB colleagues:
The installer tries to switch the automatic log backup on AFTER the tutorial data is loaded.
Unfortunately the log area is too small configured by default to hold all tutorial changes without backup. We will correct the installer and you could prevent the Log Full situation (which leads to the stalling of the installer) by configuring the log area to a size of 250 MB.
    Solution:
As described above or do not load tutorial data at installation.
Hope to save you some time when installing.
    Regards,
    IL

Hi, you must copy folder "drivers/etc" from system32 to SysWOW64 and then you should continue with installation. Finally copy changes to system32.
I think you have different versions and windows
    Folder name      Bitness      Description
System32      64      Windows System folder (system directory) for 64-bit files
SysWOW64      32      Windows System folder (system directory) for 32-bit files

  • Full ABAP Edition-Trial: no installation of maxdb???

    Hello to all,
I installed "Full ABAP Edition-Trial" some days ago and everything worked fine without any problems. Windows on partition H: and programs (like sap and sapdb) on partition L:.
Because of an other problem I had to reinstall Windows on H:. I deleted the subfolders L:\SAP and L:\sapdb. to get a clean world for sap.
I start the installation process and setup asks me the path to install sap. I enter "L:\SAP". In the next screen it asks me about the database master password. I enter my password. In the next screen the setup tolds me to install the components MaxDB to L:\sapdb and application server to L:\SAP\NSP. Total Size: 18823.1 MB needed (By the way: I have 40 GB free).
I press the install button and installation process runs without errors. Then (after 2 minutes!) I get the screen that tolds me "The InstallShield Wizard has successfully installed SAP Netweaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version.".
So I start the SAP Management Console and start the instance. The icons become green and I see for example that the processes msg_server.exe and dispwork.exe are running. Dispwork.exe stops after a few seconds.
Looking to the system log I see "Communications data: Service initialization failed" and some "SAP-Basis System: Initialization           DB-Connect Failed, Return Code  008192" messages.
When I press the database icon in the the SAP Management Console, I get a screen "page could not be displayed".
So it seems like a database problem. I look to the windows explorer and there is only the SAP-folder (with 341 MB). THERE IS NO SAPDB-FOLDER!!!
I can't find an installation-log to see if there were problems (No log.txt at SAP\NSP).
I deinstalled everything with deinstaller, run some registry cleaner and also installed a clean windows at H:, but everytime the same. I find note 572836 (Deleting SAPDB Registry entries and services) but it doesn't help.
I know when I installed SAP the first time (where it worked fine), I had not to install the microsoft loopback adapter. So I tried the installation with and without the adapter. No success!!!
I get crazy about it... Perhaps there is something wrong about the preinstalling environment: I download the two files SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part1.rar and SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part2.rar to the folder L:\downloads. Then I unpack only the first one SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part1.rar in the same folder. Then there is a new folder SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part1. This one contains a folder SAPNW2004sABAPTrail. There are some folders and files. I change to the folder images. There I start the setup.exe (but before I installed the lookback adapter).
I'm a little bit irritated about the files SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part1.rar and SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part1.rar. The first one has a size of 1536000KB and the SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part2.rar has a size of 1249739KB. Just for analyze I unpack the SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part2.rar-file and see that it has exactly the same structure like SAPNW2004sABAPTrail_part1.rar!!! Also the size of the unpacked files are the same. Is this normal???
So, that's my problem: No database here. Anyone here who has an idea? Please help me. I really need ABAP here!!!
    Kindly regards,
    Andy

  • Error - SAP SOL 4.0 Installation - SLES9 - MaxDB | Error Number JS-30151

    Hi Guys,
i got an Error if I want to install the Solution Manager 4:
JS-30151 Java Process Server0 of Instance SM4/DVEBMGS01 [ABAP: Active, Java: (Dispatcher; RUNNING, server0: UNKNOWN)] did not start after 18:00 minutes. Giving up.
FC0-00011 The step startJava with step key |NW_Onehost|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_Onehost_System|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_CI_Instance|ind|ind|ind|ind|11|0|NW_CI_Instance_StartJava|ind|ind|ind|ind|4|0|startJava was executed with status ERROR.
In other Topics i read that i maybe must increase the Max Heap.. but i dont know how I can do this..
I got SLES9 with MAXDB, IBM SDK 1.5 + runtime.. where can i change the heap?
I start the installation with "sapinst.sh" an the gui connect...
    Thank you for help

    Hey Guys,
I have found an solution, which works for me at least, should be of help to you, too.
"Out of memory" issues are often associated with wrong settings (or lets say not right settings), in this case particularly it was the Heap size, which should be adjusted.
How you can do this (with the use of configtool) you can read in SAP NOTE 710146.
From thread - How to increase memory associated to was I have used Mikes advice -
    Quote Mike:
    "Hi Jianhong,
The root cause of OutOfMemory error can be different though uaually it can be solved by increasing J2EE Server
MX size. To increase MX size execute J2EE ControlTool, click on the instance and select your server(s). On the right frame you will see Java settings tab. you can adjust MX parameters as follows:
    -Xms1024M
    -Xmx1024M
    -XX:MaxNewSize=192M
    -XX:NewSize=192M
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256M
    -XX:PermSize=256M
Also set "Max Heap Size" to the same value (1024).
Then you'll need to restart you J2EE server to activate paramters. However if you have less then 2048 Mb of RAM,I would go with 512M settings fro teh MX/MS. Otherwise your system may go into swapping.
    Regards,
    Mike"
If you need additional information about settings and values you can also refer to SAP NOTE 723909.
    Hope this helps.

    Ati

  • SAP ECC6.0 installation with Oracle RAC

    Hi Expert,
Current we working on SAP ECC6.0 installation with Oracle 10G RAC on AIX 5.3. The RAC are running on two nodes (servers). And we are using GPFS filesystem (not running on HACMP).
Overall we had completed the Oracle RAC installation (CRS+RDBMS) and tested the oracle failover and it work find. Now we want to start with the SAP installation (with HA). In the SAP installation documentation, it did request to create a virtual hostname on the node and execute the sapinst scripts with below command line.
    #./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=ascs00
But if we are running on Oracle RAC + GPFS do we need to specify the virtual hostname? If not, which hostname i should use to install the HA for SAP?  Please advice.
    Regards.

And then I'd continue with the documentation at:
SAP on Oracle => SAP on Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
There you can find several installation guides for windows/UNIX/Linux

  • Changing saplog directory with maxdb

    Hi,
I have installed 04s portal server with maxdb in my desktop. I specified, all directories to point to D: during installation. However, saplog directory alone got created in C drive.
It is occupying so much space, that am effectively not able to use my server.
I have specified overwrite mode for log area.
How do i change the saplog directory to point to D drive. Or will deleting the DISKL001 file cause any issues using my portal server. If i manually create a similar structure in my d drive and copy the DISKL001 file, where should i change to reflect the new location of saplog directory?
    Thanks
    Best Regards
    Sumathi

    Hi,
In Log Settings of Configuration tab, there is no option to change the directory where DISK001 is stored. All i can see is three radio options to set Log Mode, Overwrite mode and Activate or Deactivate the Redo Log Management.
Version of Maxdb manager is 7.6
Any other option to change the directory
    Thanks
    Best Regards
    Sumathi

The error is happening while executing RSCMST report. Content Server installation and configuration finished successfully. I installed for 3 server, 2 of them don't have this kind of issue. Please need your expertise on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Yan

    Hi Natalia,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I've read the mentioned OSS last time while I was having the related issue. Now the issue had been solved by reinstall the content server. I though I did the wrong step while installing or upgrading the MaxDB.
    With Best Regards,

  • Install NetWeaver 7.31 with MaxDB 7.9

    Dear Experts,
I'm trying to install NetWeaver 7.31 with MaxDB. According to MaxDB website, NetWeaver 7.31 requires MaxDB RDBMS 7.9. However, I couldn't find it in the SMP. Can anyone tell me where I can download the installation files? Thanks for your help.
    Ingrid

    Hi Ingrid,
Although this is a question to NW-related forum, MaxDB 7.9 package is located on the same page where you can download SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.3:
go to Software Download Center > Installation and Upgrades > A-Z Index > N > SAP NETWEAVER > SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.3 > "Installation and Upgrade" link > Microsoft Windows > MaxBD (SAPDB) > underneath you will see 51044253_5, 51044253_6 and 51044253_7 packages. Chose the one that you need.
    Regards,
    Sergiy
