Ajax Post to .cfm throws IIS 500 (but same post to .aspx does not error)

I have a cross domain ajax call properly set up and tested to resolve to a .cfm but IIS throws a 500 error.
Here is the scenario:
On one domain (a.tld) I have an ajax application.
This application posts to another domain (b.tld).
When a.tld posts to a .cfm on b.tld, I get a 500 error. But, when a.tld posts to a .aspx on b.tld, it returns just fine. Both the .cfm and the .aspx are returning a single json name value pair (really just some text).
Now, this is interesting, when I switch the POST to a GET, the .cfm works just fine. So, to summarize:
1. ajax POST to aspx works fine.
2. ajax POST to cf gives 500 error.
3. ajax GET to cf is fine.
So, this appears that IIS is blocking ColdFusion from getting the cross domain ajax call or that ColdFusion does not have permission to act on the POST. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?

Have the same problem. Ajax and Post do not play well together. Last I checked it is a browser problem.
Using “GET” is a problem too if you need to ajax a lot of data. .
If you are using the ajax to validate a page, a good work around is to open a dhtml iframe window (see http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex8/dhtmlwindow/index.htm) and then do the validation in popup window.
As you are validating, use cfflush to show what’s going on:
Checking value 1: Pass
Checking value 2: Pass
Checking value 3: Fail - date range is not valid.

To confirm, your existing mail client isn't communicating with your existing and remote mail services at Dreamhost? Which mail client are you using (Apple mail?), and how is mail on the client set up?
It would initially seem that your client is still referencing the server, either for its inbound or outbound mail. (And I'm not sure how unplugging the server helps here, unless there's some sort of a configuration issue, or a duplicate network address or such.) This would usually be something within the configuration of the mail client.
The Mac OS X Server is significantly easier than the many other servers and server operating systems I've dealt with over the years, but it requires reading the manuals and/or some knowledge of networking and of server environments.
Small shops and home folks without the time or inclination to "spin up" on these server areas can be well-served with some help initially configuring the server. Servers are different from clients. Stuff that you're implicitly used to using when you're running a client -- the DHCP server, for instance -- are what the servers provide you with.
As for Mac OS X Server and particularly if you head outside of the default settings and sequences and off into the customizations, which is what has happened here, you might want to engage some assistance. Not just for the direct and obvious initial set-up sequence, but also for getting you set-up and started with backups and other such tasks. Before you get too deep in here and get too much underway and too much saved on your disks, do seriously consider getting somebody in to help set this box up for you.
Mac OS X Server is not "no IT", but it is rather closer to "less IT" than most. Particularly once you get it configured and running.

Please go to transaction code OB41 and for the posting keys 12 and 22 please ensure that there is a tick mark for the special G/L indicator. Then your entry can be completed.

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to activate after the update, and the server is getting overloaded. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

Well when you download the update with iTunes it will always download the whole new version (in your case 7.0.2) even if its just an bug fix. If you already have 7.0 download the update over-the-air.
You already wrote that the update is only 21 MB, so its not the whole firmware package of 7.0.2 you get with iTunes.

Trying to PSE 8 as editor in IPHOTO 11 but the option "In application does not

I'm trying to use PS Elements 8 as an external editor in iphoto11, but the option "In application" does not appear as an option for Edit in:. This previously worked but now I only have the option of editing in iphoto. The move of the menu item from general to advanced seems to have screwed it up. Any one have a similar problem??

try renewing your iPhoto preference file -
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I can understand your frustrations and concerns with receiving these unknown calls! I would love to assist you with preventing these types of calls.
Sounds as though you're receiving some type of telemarketing call. Although you're unable to add the shorter numbers to your call block list, you can definitely add your number to the National Do Not Call registry http://1.usa.gov/1whONxp. I hope this will help prevent those unwanted calls. Thanks!
