Album/Grid View: Tracklist out of order NO MATTER WHAT since iTunes 11(?)

Before reading, note that my metadata/tag information for all albums have and always been CORRECT. Disc/track order info, artist, album artist, album - they're all sorted accordingly so that they are in their right order with their right album and right artist/compilations.
That said since upgrading to iTunes 11 last year, many of my albums had their tracklisting mixed up. For example with my Karate kid soundtrack, all tracks after track 1 are appearing before track 1. And no matter what I do (I'd change the album/artist - all tag fields just to seperate the problematic tracks or as a whole album, etc etc) they are stuck there for good. Other albums have the same problem, with one or two tracks appearing before track 1.
This completely destroys the sequencing of album sequencing, not to mention the overall listening experience, athough clicking on the album art will play from track 1 to end of album in order. Still, this is a problem that needs solving, one that I've been waiting for after how many updates. Anyone else having this sort of problem? Tell me I'm not the only one.

Missing Song Name Column in Album Grid View

I've lost the song name column when I am in grid view, and have clicked through to the song list. Anyone know how to get the song name column back?

This is the way I would approach it:
- Quit all applications
- Remove ~/Library/Caches and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
- Log out of your user account, and then log back in and test
- Additionally, you can quit all applications and remove both com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist and com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist, then log out and in to see if that has an effect, although I normally wouldn't expect them to.
If the same issue persists:
- Quit all applications
- Remove ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins (you can drag to the Desktop so as not to lose it; you can always put it back)
- Log out and in, and test
Normally, this will take care of the issue so long as you follow the steps in order. If not, normally the next step is to isolate ~/Library/Preferences entirely by quitting all applications, re-naming the Preferences folder (like to Preferences1), and log out and in and test. Keep in mind when logging back in, your account will change appearance. You can revert these changes by once again quitting all applications, renaming the current ~/Library/Preferences (like to Preferences2), then change the original folder's name back to Preferences. Then log out and in.

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Have you created a new account or updated your existing account ? All content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so if you have created a new account then all of your existing downloads will remain tied to your old account.
If you've updated your existing account then try tapping on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and log out of it and then log back in with the updated id so as to 'refresh' the account on it.

HT1535 Does iTunes have to also be installed on my Windows PC in order to Sync? Since iTunes never pops up when I attach my iPad to my PC, I'm wondering if that's the problem

I cannot sync and in fact, any time I attach my iPad to my PC it says not charging - and iTunes never pops up. Is it possible that I have to install iTunes on m PC to make this work?

ITunes 10's "grid view" displays my songs out of order.

I really enjoy the "grid view" option on iTunes 10. However, I have noticed it has displayed a few of my albums in the incorrect order. I have checked the tags, and they are all set to the same artist, album, album artist, genre, album artwork, amount of tracks, and amount of discs. They have all been numbered correctly from 1 to x. Some tracks (i.e. 5, 9, 13) are displayed in order at the top and the other tracks are below them in order as well. I do not have this problem in any other view format. I would like to troubleshoot this so that I can go on enjoying grid without this annoying glitch.

I am finding the same problem.
The tracks display in the correct order in List view, but not in Grid or Artist List view. They play in the correct order no matter what view is being used, just display wrong.
For example: In the image below, they will still play in order, so if I play the "first" one (#10), it will continue on to play 11-18 in order, it is just the view that is in error.
The solution that seemed to work for me was to force track numbers by adding them to the track number field and sorting on that. So the problem may be disc rips and other media not from iTunes or Amazon may not necessarily have proper track numbers.
Now if that were the only bug I keep running in to.

10.1 Grid View Album Song "Name" Column Gone?

In 10.1, Grid View, when an Album is selected and its individual tracks are shown, the "Name" column is no longer visible and there is no way to turn it back on, either in the contextual menu accessed by right-clicking in the column header or in View > View Options (Cmd-J). "Name" is not an option. The "Name" column is visible in the other view modes (Song List, Album List, Cover Flow), but not within an album in Grid View.
I've deleted the preferences and restarted iTunes, but no change.
Anyone else experiencing this or have any recommendations?

Sorting Albums in Grid View

This must be a simple fix, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I just entered George Michael's CD, Faith into a new playlist. The playlist is set to sort albums by TITLE and then ARTIST. No matter what I do, this particular album will not go into the right place. It always goes to the end of the list. I have checked everything I could think of but no luck. If I put an "a" in front of FAITH, it sorts to the beginning of the playlist. Anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening. Thanks

ITunes is playing tracks out of order

With the new iTunes update all the tracks for my albums are out of order. This really poses a problem when playing Broadway soundtracks (I kind of like to hear the show in order).
Is there an easy fix for this?

I also have this problem when in album "grid" view. iTunes plays the songs totally out of orded, but NOT by shuffling. (I've made sure the "shuffle" function is turned off). The order it plays the songs is screwed up, but non-random. I.e it's the same everytime.
Just like the previous poster, I've also assigned numbers to each track title, and they're organized correctly in each album. It's just that iTunes seems to ignore the order of the songs, and jumps between albums.
This is NOT good for my OCD!

When I import from the computer, the music is out of order. This is usually not a big deal, however there are some things that simply need to be in a certain order. Any Ideas?

I have found out how to put them in order if not all the albums track numbers are out of order! What you have to do is go to the view where you just see the albums artwork (that's how i did it, it's much easier on this view than the others). Then right-click on the song that appears first when you're viewing the albums songs. Then click on "Get Info" and then click on the tab that says info on it. On the right there are little boxes, go to the box under track number. Then you put in the number of that track in the first box that's all (if there are 2 or more disc in the album then go to the box under disc number and type the number disc that track is on in the first box and that's it don't go to the other box to the right where "of" is in the middle of the first and second box). Then click on the next button on the button of the window until you can't go on. Then you finished ordering the number of tracks in the album and they should be in order. Congrats!!!

There is more to Grid View than you think

As is typical of new software versions, cool features are rarely fully discussed in press releases. Macworld has just posted and article about some [neat Grid View sorting|http://www.macworld.com/article/135566/2008/09/gridviewoptions.html] features that allow you to control how content is displayed in each grid view.
For instance in the Albums Grid View I selected to sort by the artist and then the year in ascending order then grouped the albums. Now when I switch to the Albums section of the Grid View I see album covers grouped by the artist and ordered within the group by release date.

After syncing Pc-Ipad my Photo's are out of order. In the folders they don't follow the Date-order. I use Itunes 10.6.1.7 and Ipad 5.1. The Problem is the same with XP and Windows 7.

After syncing PC-Ipad my Photo's on Ipad2 are out of order. In the Folders/Albums the Photo's are no longer in the order of (EXIF) dates. I have updated Itunes to 10.6.1.7 and IPad2 to 5.1. I have reset the IPad2. I cleaned the Photo-cache and removed Itunes and Installed again. I tried it with Windows 7 (64) and XP, makes no difference. I tried it with one Album, Photo's also out of order. It doesn't seem to happen with my Ipad1 older software version. I there a bug in the newest software? Thanks for Help!

ITunes 9 grid view background color?

It seems iTunes 9 has changed the background color of grid view from black to white. How can I change it back? I can't find anything in preferences or the iTunes help manual. Thank you for the help

The dark Grid View background was just one thing.
The new iTunes store look doesn't do it for me either. It's just a sea of icons on white background. Everything drowns in a blur of color specks...

Keys out of order?

i think this is a command line question. i recently unplugged my B&W G3 so i could use the space to play with my new (to me) G4. i also "borrowed" some RAM from the G3 to install in the new machine. when i tried to hook up the G3 again, it would not load anything. i did the usual 'zap' and 'option' dance, which did finally bring the beast to life, but it would go to black screen where i would get "root". i know very little about Mac OS command line, so i didn't try to do anything there. i would type 'exit' which would give me a run down of the start-up POST and end in a "panic, stops here" line [sorry, not the exact term, but your get the idea].
so i put in the OS install disk (OS 10.4) and run the first aid utility to see whats up. i get a red line that reads "Keys out of order, needs repaired". what does that mean? i ended up erasing the hard drive and am now reinstalling the OS, but was wondering what mistake i may have made to crash the system in the first place.

The "keys out of order" message indicates your hard drive has file directory corruption. Disk Utility can't fix, but usually DiskWarrior can. I don't think the RAM removel/reinstall could have cauised this problem.
Besides using DiskWarrior, the only other option is to erase & reinstall the system which you have done.

Release Date not showing - episodes out of order?

Hi everyone!
I recently submitted a podcast for work and it was accepted yesterday. During testing, the order of the episodes were right based on the date they were released. However, checking the live version, the released column information is blank and the episodes are all out of order.
From what I understand, it's supposed to get that from the XML. For each item, we have: <pubDate>02 April 2014</pubDate> that did show up when we tested it directly.
Any thoughts? Thank you!

No matter what I do, the tracks will not go into order

i downloaded 11 songs and they will not go into correct order no matter what i do. i have changed the info and numericaally put the tracks into order but they are still scrambled. what do i do to make them go from 1 to 11?

Are you talking about an imported CD? When you inserted the CD into the computer, did iTunes fetch the track information for you and fill it in? If so, on the headings, are you sorting by "Artist"?
