Alignment of peaks

Hello
I am in the middle of writing a program to deconvolute the signal from
a modulated temperature differential scanning calorimeter (in which a
sinusoidal wave is superimposed on the linear heating ramp).
What I need to do is take the ratio of two sine waves (heating rate
and heat flow). However, there is a phase lag between each wave (due
to the time taken for the heat flow to respond to the applied
temperature) and this phase lag is not constant throughout the course
of the experiment because it is dependent of several factors (e.g. if
the sample in the calorimeter is undergoing some kind of transition).
What I need to do is treat the waves cycle by cycle i.e. divide cycle
1 of the heat flow by cycle 1 of the heating rate, then c
ycle 2 of the
heat flow by cycle 2 of the heating rate, etc., and I need to align
the waves for each cycle. I need to make sure the peaks of the
heatflow cycle are exactly aligned with the peaks of the heat rate
cycle.
The vast majority of my program is written, and I have just got
stumped as to how I can align my peaks. Does anyone have any ideas?

Peak alignment

I am calculating peak position for several graphs which vary slightly. This slight variation causes the position of peaks to move around. What I want to be able to do is take this peak information and realign it in columns of an array.The way I need to align my peaks is that peaks must not vary more than 5 between each graph. So if this is my raw data:
I want to try and align it something like this. The difference from the previous value must not be more than 5.

What I want to be able to do I align peaks in such a way that only those peaks with a difference of 5 points or less from the previous sample are in the same column. I am having trouble creating columns for new peaks, and dealing with peaks when they disappear and reappear. If anyone can look at my code and
give me any tips I would be very grateful.

P.S. Also in a different message someone posted http://forums.ni.com/ni/attachments/ni/170/494181/1/Sort%20Data.png This works well except the column sorting is based on the first row, not the difference between adjacent rows.

Hi LV,
Your example data of how you want the aligned array to look doesnt appear right. You seem to be moving data from 1 row to another. Are you sure this is what you want. I would of thought that you need to keep the data within its original row but move it according to data within its column.
If this is what you want then this should do it:
I have tested it using the data that you show in your array and it works how i think it should be done.

Problem with Div and table

I have a table that contains data parsed for a weather station page. It also has a webcam picture on the page. Up until now, the webcam pic has loaded via an applet but I want to change that to a jquery slideshow so it's accessible to more mobile devices.   My problem is that no matter what I do (aside from putting a 5x240 spacer) I can't get the table data to display below the webcam div (id="featured"). I've put the webcam and data table in their own div, the webcam's div in the table, used clear:both on the divs, tried setting block size, but it's like nothing is working.   So I'm back to go and thought I'd post it here since there are so many folks here who know more about this than me. This is the html, right now with no CSS classes or anything added. So whatever you would suggest as far as div and/or table layout and any CSS would be appreciated.

Of course as soon as I posted that, I found the error of my ways. I had forgotten to set containerheight:   on my .js script for 'div#featured'
Arrrghh, why couldn't I have realized that a hour ago!!!

Can't align audio to exact specifications

I'm currently trying to create an acapella version of a song using the regular and instrumental tracks. To do this well, the wave forms must peak at the exact same points. However, when i try to move a track just SLIGHTLY in either direction in Logic Express (v7.1.1), it will always snap to a certain spot rather than moving smoothly with the cursor. Is there any way to turn off the auto-aligning in Logic Express?

From the reference manual:
Snapping Objects to a Grid
Select View > Snap Positions to align the Objects to an invisible grid. It’s a good idea to leave snap positions switched on. You only need to switch it off if you want to manually move an Object by a few pixels.
Again raise the zoom.

Align a video only clip to an audio only clip

I recorded a wedding with my good camera and also with another OK camera. The external mic on the good camera failed so the good video has no audio.
The other camera has audio and the video is OK (good enough to use for other angles, etc.)
I've seen articles on how to synchronize two clips automatically, but I think it requires both to have audio...that's how it synchronizes them.
I can break apart the audio and add it below the video only clip, but I can't figure out how to line it up so it doesn't look like a bad lip-sync foreign film.
I'm thinking I could align both clips with a marker on the photographer's flash...maybe that will work.
Can anyone suggest how to do this?

Find a well defined peak in the audio (hand clap, sharp noise, etc.) if you can. Select the detached audio, place the playhead over that peak and type M to set a marker. Find the corresponding point in the video — select that clip, place the playhead over the frame where that sound should start and type M to set another marker. Turn snapping in (or hold down the N key and slide the audio until the markers snap together. If you missed, you can right click on one or the other marker and select Edit Marker, then nudge left by typing Control - , (comma) or nudge it right by Control - . (period) then snap to the new position. If you need to align an audio subframe to a discreet video frame, you can nudge audio by subframes left or right with Option -comma or -period. There are 80 audio subframes per video frame, so holding down the shift key as well will advance the audio by 10 frames at a time.
It just takes a little patience, but it's not all that difficult to do.

I have been looking at my data at the position indicated by the function as a peak, and it is correct at that place the wave has its peak, but the value provided by the function is higher than the actual value at that point.

The help makes it clear that the VI will make a quadratic fit to the data, so the locations are not integers (i.e. not aligned with you exact data). From that analysis, the peak is between two of your points, and slightly above the neighboring data.
See the coercion dot. Make the "locations" array DBL (Why did you change it to I64, that makes no sense at all!)
Quote from the help:
"Locations contains the index locations of all peaks or valleys detected in the current block of data. Because the peak detection algorithm uses a quadratic fit to find the peaks, it actually interpolates between the data points. Therefore, the indexes are not integers. In other words, the peaks found are not necessarily actual points in the input data but may be at fractions of an index and at amplitudes not found in the input array."

ICal Week view, Date is not aligned with the Time(schedule) of each date

Well, just like it says over there (`` ). I've recently been to China for a business trip, and I suppose the different time zone may have had something to do with the problem. Now I'm back home, changed the time zone back to normal, still the iCal shows in the weekly view that the Date on the above is not aligning with the Time and schedule. Any suggetions would be grateful!!!

scheduling type i planned order is still "backwards"
so in MD04 it is say that the goods is available at 15.10.2009 same with requirement dates.
this seem not right.
it seems that order finish date is not adjusted by lead time scheduling on "today scheduling".

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier prints only in black/MAC USER & won't align?

PROBLEM # 1) I've replaced all my ink cartridges, but can't find out why my printer is now only printing in black? I'm a MAC user, so I want to print in color, and am trying to find instructions for a MAC on how to get back to printing in color?
ACTION TAKEN #1
UPDATE: I've done a three level cleaning of the printer heads, which DOES print in color and each color block now looks great. The printer heads were not printing any color blocks, but the pink color block, until the first third level cleaning. I then cleaned the printer heads a second time all the way through the third level.
RESULT: However when I print from any document/web page my printer only still prints in black & white after these two printer adjustments double three stage printer cartridge claening?

The Print Quality Diagnostics Page looks perfect (including the alignment section) in all 3 test patterns, and again prints in color.
RESULT: However, my printer still will not print in color after trying all these steps?
IPROBLEM #2)I 've also tried a align printer which also prints in color, but states, "alignment failed see documentation manual"? To make the situation more complicated the alignment page looks perfect and prints in color before the error message displays.
After puling the power cord twice while ON and wiating 20 seconds, as discussed in the above link. my printer "won't remove the, "align error message see diagnostics manual".
RESULT: Printer "won't remove the, "align error message see diagnostics manual", even though the Printer Diagnostic Pages looks great, and the alignment page as well.
I'm operating a lastest version Macbook Air laptop OS X 10.9.4. I have not upgraded to a new operating system since this problem started a week ago, and Ive owned this HP Printer for 2 years.
UPDATE: ISSUE SOLVED. Well you can imagine when I say that I spent about 2 hours on this yesterday that yea he's right. This took a long time to research and try all these solutions. I told my wife about the issue and had her try:
ACTION TAKEN #3: Print a page from a second computer. Windows laptop printed a colored page from a web site.
SOLUTION: (Printing only in Black Color): Wife literally solved the problem in 3 minutes!
Look below at the presets drop-down arrow tab, which is right below the printer name: You will see PLAIN PAPER, FAST DRAFT, BLACK AN(D WHITE). I'm not sure how I checked this, but this is how you can print only in black ink. NOTE: I looked at dozens of answers across the web, and didn't find this info anywhere else!
This screen shot show you what the setting should be if you want to print in fast draft mode to use the least amount of color ink.

It looks like your problem is solved? There wasn't a problem with the printer itself, just the printer settings on your Mac?
This is good information though. We don't always have detailed solutions for customers that are using Safari, since it is hard to write instructions for the general public with specific steps for each operating system.

Pages 5.5 Header/footer alignment

How to align text to the left in Pages 5.5 in all 3 boxes in header or footer?

I've just found another solution:
1. create 3 columns table in Pages 4.3
2. input text in those 3 columns, make alignment whatever you like
3. copy text from each cell of Pages 4.3
4. paste text into each box of Pages 5.5 header/footer
5. voilà

Is there a shortcut to center-align all items of a certain type only?

I know the title of this thread is poorly worded; I apologize. Let me try to explain.
I design transit schedules, which I create in InDesign using tables. These schedules list arrival times for bus stops, but when the bus does not stop at a particular stop, this is indicated by an em dash.
Example:
The times are left-aligned within the columns (they are aligned on the colon). However, the em dashes are center-aligned. Currently, the entire table is left-aligned by default, and I manually highlight and center-align the em dashes. When there are just a few em dashes or when the em dashes are all adjacent to each other, it's no big deal.
But I often have to work with schedules in which the em dashes are in every other row (like the top half in the example above) or scattered throughout the table, and in those cases, my very manual method is a real pain in the neck—I have to highlight and center each em dash individually.
What I would LOVE to find is a feature similar to the Find and Replace feature, in which I could essentially ask InDesign to Find all em dashes within the document and center align them only. I've searched for such a feature to no avail. Am I overlooking something, or is this just not possible in InDesign? And if it's not possible, can you think of a better and more efficient way of center-aligning the em dashes than my current method?
FYI, I'm still using InDesign CS3, though I hope to upgrade soon. If I learn that a Find and Align type of feature is available in CS5, well—that's just more motivation for me to upgrade ASAP!

Some text in my smartform is not aligned or one space below

I am currently modifying a smartform wherein some of the text is
one space below its correct alignment. For example:

The 50 must be aligned with the particular and price. When I checked the
form, it doesnt have anyspace and the variable is inserted immediately. No spaces

Column alignment in tabular form

Hi,
how to change column alignment in f.e Text Fields in tabular form.
Manual option doesn.t work (alingment not heading). I tried to add
style=text-align:right ( i cut quote)in element column formatting options but I didn't find solution.
Anyone know how to change this?
Maybe sth simillar to the same problem in IR:
.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td, .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td div{text-align:right}I understand ".apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA" it's only IR definition and it doesn't work with tabular form

Hi,
Go edit your tabular form Column Attributes where you like apply that style.
Then add to Element Attributes
style=text-align:rightBr,Jari

How do I set my peak limiter to -3db and fix audio spikes?

I'm new to Logic X (new to Logic period, actually), and I'm trying to cut audio for Audible. They've given me the guidelines and I thought I was following them, but I guess whatever I did didn't work.
They're saying the audio still has peaks over -3db (reaching 0db at some points) and that the limiter isn't functioning. How can I set the plug ins so that I can take care of this problem? Sorry, I know this is probably incredbily basic, but I have absolutely no training in this. Thanks!

Are you are using an audio interface?
Are you recording external instruments... you will need to explain what kind of audio, virtual instruments, loops, recorded audio through an interface?
If you're recording through an audio interface (or the computer's audio input) Logic's plugins cannot stop peaks as Software is -after- the the hardware input. If you're getting peaks recording through hardware you will need to bring down input levels.
