All-in-one printer recommendation

I need a new all-in-one printer for my emac, and am considering the Canon Pixma MP510. I searched the forum and didn't find anything about this one specifically.
I am interested in good scanning capabilities, printing on card stock and transparency paper, and some photo printing although I typically have my photos printed elsewhere.
Any feedback? Thanks very much.

I have an HP PSC1210 and a Canon Pixma MP130. Although they are definitely low-end all-in-ones, both make resaonably good scans and printouts. I like the HP better, but the ink is terribly expensive.
In general, operating costs for a Canon, Epson, or Brother printer will be much less since high quality generic ink cartridges are widely available for these.
Regarding the scanner capability, Canon has been in the imaging business (i.e. photography) for many years and probably knows more about optics than the others.

  • All-in-one printer recommendations?

I'm looking for the above for my daughter's 1.25Ghz PB with 10.3.9. Currently looking at HP Officejets 4215, 6210, 7210, and the HP photosmart 2610. She needs it to have built in fax, so that leaves out some of the cheaper ones. Any advice would be appreciated. We are trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, hopefully without buying a piece of junk.

Check out what the Brother line of all in one's. Brother calls them a Multi Function Center. Costco has a few but they were only black and white. I shopped around and paid $179 with a $30 mail-in rebate and bought a Brother MFC-5840CN Fax, Copy, Printer and photo printer with a Flatbed scanner. All in color!!!! Set-up and install was easy as could be and every works Awesome. It sounds like alot, but it is very compact and has the ability to do legal size paper.
I have had HP's in the past and they make a fine machine. But, i must say that this Brother I bought is much more user friendly. Hope this helps.

  • All-In-One Printer recommendations please !

Folks, I need a replacement for my HP PSC 1210 which no longer scans under Leopard.
Am going slightly crazy wondering whether to take a chance trusting the manufacturers' claims of compatibility or spending days reading their fine-print where there VERY often lurks that little "Sorry, no scanning" detail or some such.
And *APPLE aren't really very much help either* with a list of supported printers that is dated May 22 2008 and was probably largely compiled before then. Half the printers on their list are only supported by Gutenprint or not at all by Modern Drivers. Maybe I'm a snob but I wouldn't mind at least starting with a driver written by the manufacturer...
    *So, any thoughts ?*
Would like to take another chance on Epson - for the quality of their inks and colours - but their Leopard-supporting printers claims are 95% contradicted by the Apple page ! Might end up with the devil I know - HP, even though their print margins are way too large for liking.
Light home use: occasional scanning, quick photo prints, BW docs.... there must be something out there that people are happy with, right ? ;~))
    Cheers!!!

Woops, no - don't need faxing.
Well, I may try and save it but I'm pretty sure that I found it on the "sorry..." list somewhere. As I say, I've managed to get good print functions back again with a funny combo of hjips, foomatic and gplgs- so maybe there's a scanning equivalent lurking out there.
re: C7280 - that sounds like a recommendation to me ! Are you saying that all functions work as specified using the HP drivers ? COuld be a winner and its smack in the right price bracket.
    Keep 'em coming folks !

  • All in One Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax Recommendations

    Hi,
I'm looking to purchase an all in one printer/scanner/copier/fax device. I was wondering what recommendations other people have. The main purpose would be to print photos, scan photos and some small business office printing. Note, a fax would be nice, but is not absolutely neccessary.
Scanning photos would be important, since I plan to scan our family's photo albums into iPhoto.
Also, is there a printer than can communicate with the Mini using bluetooth? If so , does it work well?
Since I have limited desk space, size would be an issue (smaller the better).
Looking to spend about $200, slightly more if the cost justifies itself. Less is always better.
    Thanks in advance!

    The Brother MFC-420cn
    http://www.brother-usa.com/MFC/ModelDetail.aspx?ProductID=MFC420CN
does everything you ask for less than $100 -- except bluetooth.
The Pluses: Good Mac software. Cheap ink. Networkable.
The construction is flimsy plastic, but if you are gentle it will hold up.
    Definitely small footprint.
Paper path is 180 degrees, which is not my preference.
Personally, I prefer Epson all-in-ones. Also good Mac software and 80 degree paper path for less jamming. Exceptional scan quality.

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one printer

The above printer is 1 1/2 years old and it has stopped printing.  When the printing became light, I installed new print cartridges less than a week ago.  Now, after five days, the printer is consistently cleaning the print heads and aligning the print heads and my documents are not being printed.  And, what is most frustrating, during all the cleaning and aligning, all of my new ink is gone and I'm receiving a message replace ink cartridges.
Re: Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on
    Options

    Well,
to this is say, "get used to it", or throw it away.  Many, Many, Many people have had trouble with this printer.
The following are common and frustrating issues that this printer exhibits on a regular basis:
    1.  Constant Self-Checking (usually every 20-30 pages of print)
    2. Very persistant Printhead Cleaning/Checking, (Every startup and after about 20-30 pages printed).
    3. Worn-out printheads (usually within 1,100 to 1,500 pages printed).
    4. Paper mis-feeds.
    5. Paper jams.
    6. Nearly impossible to use once the printer reports ink-depletion.
    7. Nearly impossible to use CIS Ink for larger print jobs.
    8. Ink and printheads "expire" regardless of when they are placed into service. (get a deal on ink or printheads last year?  Too bad, the warranty is already expired, most likely).
In short, this printer is the most EXPENSIVE printer I've ever owned, and the most frustrating to use.
I have just over 2,000 pages of regular text printed matter with very little color, and have already gone through 4 sets of ink, and 2 sets of PrintHeads.
Although it's true that you can leave the unit on, and let it go into standby, you should NOT be punished with constant and time-consuming "self-checking" everytime it's turned on, or prints a handful of pages, BUT, it does NOT appear that HP will be standing behind this printer disaster.  AND, to make things worse, they've gone on to redesign it, giving it a different look, and so there are about 6 different models/versions of the OfficeJet Pro 8500.
Anyone needing a reliable print/fax/scan/copy solution should look beyond this printer, because it will leave you wanting more, and spending more than you ever imagined you would have to on a late model printer.ro
What is going on?  Why does it just automatically clean and align?  I also get alignment failed messages.  Any suggestiions?

    rammerjammer,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, your feedback is very important and I want to do my best to help.  To answer what is going on, since the printing became light, started cleaning itself constantly, and fails the alignment, the printhead was damaged.  Click here to see and use the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges, Printheads, and Related Supplies.  There are many ways to contact HP.  The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for HP and Compaq products for Home & Home Office use.  If you no longer have a warranty with the printer you can still use the warranty that comes with the printhead or ink cartridges.
If you have a carepack with the printer that extended the one year warranty then the troubleshooting will be covered along with the printer if the printer needs replacing.  Check product warranty here, see HP Out of Warranty Support Options for Select HP Consumer Printers here.
To order a new printhead you can go to HP Sure Supply and enter your printer or go to the HP Parts Store and order the printhead by part number C4900A for the Black and yellow and part number C4901A for the Cyan Magenta.  These printheads go by region also so be sure you are using the right region, these were found using the United States region.
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One printer has separated the ink cartridges from the printheads.  The ink cartridges are on the lower left and the removable print heads are on the carriage inside the printer.  The printer goes through a calibration process when turned on that will use ink.  Leave the printer on and let it go into stand by mode.  This type of printer is energy star efficient and made to calibrate on start up and be left on.  Allow the printer to clean or calibrate only if the printer must.  If it starts cleaning a lot it may be time to do a little maintenance to the printer (recommend once a month for maintenance).  Please see the following links for further details.

The printer has a duty cycle of 7.5k page/month.  The XL cartridges have a composite page yield of 1.4k pages with about a third of the black ink left over.  To me it would seem that the printhead should last somewhere in between.  This printer was designed to save money on ink compared to the rest of the officejets.  I hate that it has been causing so much trouble, hopefully the information I provided will help.

  • HP all-in-one printer app

Trying to get my NEW windows 8 laptop connected to my MFP M276 color printer...
    I get to
    http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/app/hp-all-in-one-printer-remote/94883cdd-504d-4e94-871c-c70...
this eventually asks me to create a Microsoft account. I don't care to have Big Brother Bill Gates be involved in my HP printer driver.
But finding no way around this, I finally try to make one.  It asks for an email address, but the domain is restricted to either Hotmail or Outlook! HELLO? Are there only 2 email providers on the planet?  I am stunned. Did a single human test this software?
I finally did the traditional search for a driver, not an app, and find one on the HP site.
Lesson... if you're on a laptop, and see the word "app," run as fast as you can.

  • Printer Error - HP All-in-One Printer App

I have the HP Photosmart B210 and have been using the HP Printer Control app on my Lenovo laptop.  It has worked successfully until a few weeks ago.  When I read some of the reviews on the updated app - which is now HP All-in-One Printer Remote, I realized upgrading to Windows 8.1 may help.  Once updated to Windows 8.1 I did start printing!  However, my documents would only print half-way through and then I receive an error message and the printing stops.  So, I will get one or two pages out of a 4 to 5 page document with the same Error message half-way through.  No description about the error - just error - printing has to be cancelled.  Suggestions?  Pleeeeaaaassssseeee!

  • My PC can't stand the connection to HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer

    Hi everybody,
I got a HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one printer, i manadge to connect it to the network. I select a static IP and i can reach the printer through the browser.
I can add the printer to the PC, the system can find it after few second od scannig, and than i can print a test page.
The problem is that if I reboot the PC or the printer, or both, i can' print no more.
The icon of the printer in the "device and printer panel" is blurred with the green thick, but i can still reach the print through the browser and i can print with the ePrint.
If I use the "problem solving" service of Windows, it can't find any problem. But i can't still print.
I don't know what to do, it seems a problem of the computer (i even tryed to turn off the firewall but it doesn't change anything)
Is there someone that could help me?
    Thank you so much

    Hi @poporni,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP Officejet 4630 keeps losing the wireless connection on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this connection issue for you!
Please, take a look through this guide, Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.
I would also recommend, our HP Wireless Printing Center - Troubleshooting Issues website.
Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!

  • How do i remove the printhead on hp 1600xi all in one printer?

I keep getting the message remove and check cartridge on the display of my hp 1600xi all in one printer. I've replaced the ink cartridges. Turned it off, and on. Unplugged it, and plugged it back in. I still get that message. The only other thing that I can think of is to replace the printhead. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Hello jrfirepup, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are looking into printhead options.  This particular model of printer has built-in printheads, making them non-removable.
I would recommend removing the cartridges and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also suggest this document on Ink Smears or Streaks.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Looking for an All-In-One Printer Rec. with Mac

    Hello,
I'm looking for a Color Laser All-In-One printer, with ADF and Networking capability for under $600. Any recommendations of printers that work well with Mac? I know the HP's are good, but my concern is with their software. I've had nightmare experiences with them.
    Thanks!

Bought the HP Color LaserJet 1312nfi for 399.99.

  • Looking to Buy a New All-In-One Printer

I am looking to buy a new all-in-one Printer.
I have been using the Epson RX620 for a little over a year and have had great print results. Unfortunately I get a warning message yesterday that the printer needs servicing and nothing will work. After getting much less than desirable results from their Customer Support I am moving away from Epson, after three different Epson printers.
I have heard many good things about Canon printers. We will be printing bunches and bunches of photos(two small daughters + graphic artist wife = many, many photos). I am presently looking at the Canon MP600. Any goods or bads about said printer?
We do want a printer that can use cheap cartridges so HP is out of the question. Any other recommendations is appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
    Nick

The only thing that ****** me off about Epson is that they shut down their toll free phone tech support!
I had to rely on their email support to set up my new Epson printer (CD/DVD loading tray) which wasn't so bad as it was very detailed & hands on. I just couldn't understand their manual. I was having one of my "senior moment" days.
Those Canon printers are handsome! I almost ended up getting one. But, the Epson printers won because they are the only ones who can print directly on CD/DVDs & all the software is included.

  • All in one laser recommendation?

I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum, but I am looking for a recommendation for a all in one printer/fax/scanner for very low volume home use. It needs to be a monochrome laser, have ethernet built in, flat bed scanner (but not necessarily photo quality), and small foot print. Previously I have had only stand alone printers and scanners, so do not know which brands/models might offer good Mac support. Two that I have noticed online are the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf, and the Brother MFC 7840W. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Is there a specific reason you are only interested in laser, the reason I ask is HP just released a new business inkjet series designed to be lower cost of operation than a laser. Also the inks are pigment based so the inks are pretty water proof. If you are at all interested it's the Officejet Pro 8500 series, there are three versions. Rather than going through the features the link to HP's site is:

  • Paper Jam error message due to broken gear on Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer

3 year old HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer (haven't used it much). Keeps telling "Paper Jam" although there is no paper jammed anywhere (searched meticulously with a flashlight after watching HP's tutorial videos on how to clear paper jams). I started searching on the Internet and found a couple of related videos on Youtube that pointed me in the right direction:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMFW1RRlDHEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwbF2Vs_0gQ  I could hear a clicking noise on that area of the printer each time I turned it on, so I carefully took the black cap apart that was hidding the gear, and confirmed I had the same problem as in the youtube videos above. See picture below showing the white plastic gear part that has a large crack which causes the Paper Jam error message and renders the printer unusable. After Googling a little bit, seems like a relatively common issue and wonder why such a part like that is not made of a stronger material like metal (planned obsolescence maybe?). Does anybody know if there is a way of replacing the broken gear?  (I really care for the environment and I would like to avoid having to throw the relatively new and expensive all-in-way printer away) Thanks a lot in advance for the advice!

Hey ,  Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.  I do see that a cracked gear in your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer is impeding all functionality.  I would like to help you with this but that particular part is not replaceable.  I recommend you reach out to our tech support team to find out what servicing options you have available. • HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer won't print in color with new cartridge

HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer  on a iMAC  OSX version 10.9.5 system
    Hello,
As I don't print in color much but had need to I discovered my printer not printing in color.  I trouble shooted and even replaced with an new HP95 new from Office Depot ( I never buy refilled).  The printer still won't print color but it advances the paper as if it was printing - just no ink on paper.  I have cleaned thoroughly the ink jet heads, cartridge area, and run all the alignment and printer utilities.    The test page print does not show color either.   I have no error messages.  Don't know what else to do.
    thanks

    Hi there @dhengr!
Thanks for contacting the HP Forums!
I can see your having a print quality issue with your HP OfficeJet 6310.  I should be able to provide documentation that will help locate a resolution.  You mentioned you have already tried another  HP95 tri-color cartridge with no resolution.  I also noticed you said that the quality report from the printer also has no color ink.
If a stand alone test report is performed from the front of the printer such a printhead cleaning or print quality report and there is no color on the page then you are likely looking at a hardware issue within the printer.  I have provided a document regarding Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors on the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer.  If you follow the document from start to finish and still have the same issue then I would recommend contacting our HP tech support via phone.  They deal with hardware warranty and replacement options.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-all-in-one-printer

I really need to find an important fax confirmation and my fax log only shows the last 30 transactions.  Same with the call history.  Is there any way I can get more than the last 30 items.

    Hello @TheVillage,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're attempting to retrieve an old fax from your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer. Because this is a consumer level printer it does not store more than 30 faxes within the fax programming. Therefore, there is no way to retrieve that fax information. Going forward I would recommend configuring Fax to a Network Folder. This feature will allow you to receive faxes to a network folder on your computer and also print the faxes on the machine if you want to. If you ever misplace an important fax you can go into the network folder and manually print the faxes.
For additional information regarding Fax to Network Folder please click here. Please refer to pages 12-18 within the User Guide.
Should you require additional assistance with the Fax to Network Folder setup please let me know!
