All the sudden facebook chat not working anymore & any friend who appears as an icon on the side i cant send msgs to them!... i cleared the cookies & everything

hi there, my facebook chat all the sudden stopped & when i press on any of my friends icon to talk to it wouldnt appear! even i cant send them any msgs as long i have them as an icon on the side.
i cleared the cookies & the history, checked the jave every thing is working properly.
my second problem that the adobe flash player clashed sometimes, i deleted it & reinstalled it but no help.
i would appreciate any help

Personally, I can report that the chat sidebar works fine for me. However, we can't help you with that particular problem as Facebook provides that particular service.

I'm getting very interested in GPS problems across the entire iOS device range. Ive got a 3GS and the GPS satellite fix stopped working completely recently. A fix identified using jailbreak and an ssh terminal tells me a good proportion of these problems are with locationd, the gps process in the iPhone, or more accurately, I think that it's possible for some of the data this process uses to become corrupted; the "fix" involves stopping the process and deleting the data it uses. On restart, locations is forced to rebuild the data, and everything then works.
I suspect this is true across the iPhone range - and worse, I think that the backup function in iTunes actually backs up the bad data. Thus, when you restore from backup, you actually put the problem back in! Either that, or GPS cache data isnt deleted when the iphone is restored.
What we need is an option in iTunes, or the iPhone settings, to clear GPS ephemeris and related data down and restart locationd: this will save apple a fortune in support at genius bars, as I reckon everyone who is getting a replacement is just getting a reblanked refurbished iPhone with no hardware fixes - they could be turning them around in the back of the stores!
We need to get some group pressure together to get an answer out of apple on this really - they do seem to have an approach which has much in common with the way the UK banks were dealing with overdraft fees - if you complained, they refunded just to keep you quiet and make sure you didn't shout. If this issue is an underlying gps driver or application demon issue, they should give us a way to work around the issue.

IChat video chat not working ANYMORE-can see friends, but they can't see me

My built-in iSight camera is working. Photobooth works fine. My iChat used to work perfectly, video and all. But starting two nights ago, when I bring up a video chat screen with anyone, the picture preview of me freezes and the person I am talking with can't see anything. Not even a blank screen comes up for them; they can only hear my voice. But oddly, I can see that person and hear them as well. It's just the visual part that isn't working.
Under Preferences on iChat, "Automatically open iChat when camera is turned on" is checked. So is, "Play repeated ring sound when invited to a conference." Bandwidth Limit: None. Microphone is set to "Internal microphone." Now, the preview screen works and shows me moving. But as soon as I bring up a video chat with someone, this screen freezes the picture (if I keep it open while opening video chat). Or, if I close it and then bring up a video chat, and bring up Preferences, the screen is black.
This is very odd because iChat used to work fine with video chat, but all of a sudden it is not working at all. Please let me know if you have any idea what I can do to fix it. Thanks.

I always have to restart my iPhone to have it work.
It's ridiculous to always restart my phone.

If you continue to have issues with Messages after that troubleshooting, especially if it is still having or crashing, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your data in iTunes, then try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and testing it in that default condition to see if the issues persist before restoring your data. Facebook Chat Not Working Properly For iPhone 4

I recently bought the iPhone for, and am having a pretty annoying problem with the Facebook App.
So, in my Facebook, I have a group for my friends (one group). Now, when I'm on chat for my iPhone, I can not see ANY of those friends in the group online.
I read around a bit, and was advised to try unticking the group, so all my friends were shown in one list.
Did that, but still no luck..can't see people from that original group online.
Any advice?

I've now gone as far as DELETING the list. So now, while on the computer, and under Facebook chat, ALL my friends appear under the same list.
Still have the same problem; can't see the friends from the old list when using my iPhone.

SBA-Mac, you gotta be joking with that reply. In case you are living on another planet, Facebook is a social media tool through which people communicate through wall posts, simple chat and private messages. It has nothing to do with video chat, and you don't need any kind of camera. It works just fine on iPod touch.
For the person who started this thread, you can update your Facebook app by launching App store on your iPod touch, and you will be prompted to update any apps that need to be updated, or open iTunes on your computer, log in with your credentials and click app updates if there are any. Sync your iPod after it's done.

Have you tried to check if the Facebook chat setting is enabled under the message thread setting? If yes, have you tried checking the connection on your phone? I have a Mac running OS 10.8.5 and I use Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader. Today for some reason, any time I try and access a pdf file from a web page, it won't open. I get a blank window. PDF files already on my computer open fine and I can create PDF files from Word docs, but I can't download or view any pdf file from any web page. Strangely, PDF files on web pages open just fine on my iPhone.
I checked that both my copy of Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader are up-to-date. They are.
I checked that my copy of Firefox is up-to-date. It is. And nothing changed with Firefox within the last 24 hours.
I am a humble computer end-user. I am baffled as to why this would suddenly not work. I have not changed any settings, etc. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I checked your instructions you sent and as far as I can tell all of my settings, etc for Firefox (plugin updates and preferences) are correct but I am having the same problem.
However, everything works in Safari. I don't have time to attempt to diagnose why Firefox no longer works. I will just switch to Safari.

Facebook is not working on any of my browsers!

I am tired of my facebook not working. It has been almost a 5 months since I had this problem where it keeps saying:
This webpage is not available
Google Chrome cannot reach the website. This is typically caused by network issues, but can also be the result of a misconfigured firewall or proxy server.
Now I get the same result on all my browsers. I have tried many many solutions from removing cache, proxies, hosts.. Nothing works. Even changing my DNS server to 8.8.8.8. Please someone help me lol and yes facebook works on all the computers in my house except mine

You, or someone using your computer, hacked the system to block certain servers, perhaps unknowingly. The file modified is /etc/hosts. Some commercial "anti-virus" software, such as "Avast," may modify this file. If you've installed any such software, I suggest that you remove it according to the developer's instructions before continuing.
The easiest way to fix the hosts file is to restore it from a backup that predates the modification, or to copy the unmodified file from another Mac. If you can't do that, then do as below. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data. This is a simple procedure, but if you don't follow the instructions exactly, you could be left with an unbootable system. In that case, you'll have to restore from a backup or reinstall OS X.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
open -a TextEdit /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:

Below that, you'll see some other lines. There should be nothing above the first line "##". If you have any doubt about that, STOP and ask for guidance. Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the document. Scroll bars are hidden by default until you actually start scrolling, so you may not realize that you’re not seeing the whole document.
If the contents of the TextEdit window are as described, close it, then enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (by copy and paste):
sudo sed -i~ '11,$d' /etc/hosts
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. Quit Terminal. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
That will fix the hosts file. There is now a copy of the old hosts file with the name "hosts~" in the same folder as "hosts". You can delete the copy if you wish.

Skype group chat not working anymore

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and Skype 4.3.0.37. I've premium account in skype and my username is : [Removed for privacy]. For last two days I'm experiencing an issue. I'm not getting any chat text from the skype groups I'm added to. Though I'm getting chat text from individual contacts. As well as if I create new skype group and add other persons from my contact then I'm getting the chat texts but if someone adds me in a new group then also I'm not getting the texts. Another thing is, though my status in skype is online still everybody in mu contact list is seing, my status as away.
I've already tried reinstalling the skype app but the same issue is still there.
Please help.
