Alter session with ADF App

Hello:
Jdev 11.1.2.3
redhat 5.8
oracle db 11.2.0.3
When using an ADF Fusion Web app, what are the implications if we issue the database command:
alter session set time_zone = -6; for a particular user
For example, if the session is passivated? Does the database session stay with the application module on passivation? or weblogic failover?
Or will session and users get mixed up?
Thanks alot.

Hi,
you don't have a 1:1 database association in web applications. If you need to alter the database session for a user then you have to do it for each request, which means that you override the ADF BC prepareSession AM method with the statement to alter the database session. So to answer your questions
Does the database session stay with the application module on passivation?
No.
or weblogic failover?
No.

  • Customization of Human tasks the BPM Worklist App with ADF App

    Hi All,
We are building a custom ADF application which aims to combine several business process human tasks to a unified interface.
And how to integrate the Human Task Flow BPM Worklist to my ADF App.
    Otherthan that
To the BPM Worklist App we want to do customizations also like
1.Want to customize to apply our own custom skins to customize banner logo, title to the BPM Human Task Flow App.......
2.And based on the logged in user/role we wanted to restrict the features of the Work List App.
Say for Example should not provide the Facility to Add New Page if the logged in user is not an Admin, like wise no provision to add or modify or delete the Worklist Views like that...
How to get control the App based on User/Role
Any help or pointers would be appreciated!
I have ADF Experience from projects Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.
But, for me this is the first BPM case.
    Renuka

    Hi Renuka,
There are basically two ways to create an ADF UI for a BPM Task:
    1. Generate it from the task
    2. Create a ADF Taskflow based on Human Workflow Task
Since I tell this by heart, I might be slightly wrong in the terms.
You probably want to try the second option. It is accessible from the "New Gallery". You'll have to provide the Human Task from the BPM project, but then you can build up the ADF Taskflow by your self, based on the customizations of the rest of your application.
Should not be rocket science for someone with ADF11g experience. Since it is not my dayly job, I need to figure it out every time again ;). But I did it in the past and it wasn't so hard.

  • Insufficient privileges when creating MV with alter session set current_sch

I am getting Insufficient privileges when creating MV with alter session set current_schema=Application schema name. User running the alter session is DBA user. If run as SYSDBA, MV is created successfully. DB Version is 10.2.0.3
I observed similiar issue with regular View also in 9.2.0.6 also.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

Sounds like your management needs a stern lecture on the concept of change management. <g>
I am not debating what you do. I am questioning the logic, or lack thereof, of doing it that way. My recommendation would be to change your procedure to one that:
    A. Is more in line with good change management practices.
    B. Works.

  • Avaya(Non-java app) integration with ADF

    Hi,
We have a desktop application Avaya (non-Java) & want to integrate it with ADF. Currently we do it by passing parameters in HTTP URL. If the user clicks on a button in non-java app, it should:
    (1) open search page of an ADF application and execute search.
    (2) if the ADF application is already open, the button on Avaya app should execute search with partial page refresh. However, the whole page is being refreshed.
Can you please guide, how to do this with partial page refresh? , as the No 1 is almost achieved.
    Thanks,
    NC

    Hi Shay,
Below Options were tried for integration. Please have a look at them and suggest if there is any other possible way to Integrate Avaya with ADF.
    1) Calling ADF application with URL parameters.
    Reasons to drop:
Every time a URL is called the entire page will get rendered again taking some 2-3 seconds which is very critical to the application.
ADF is capable of handling URL parameters without re-loading the whole page(http://oracamp.com/passing-parameters-adf-application-through-url). But we can't use this inbuilt way as we have many customized developments implemented in the page. This way directly works at AMImpl (at Model level) level. We want the events to be fired at View level. That is backing bean level.
    2) Avaya is capable of dealing with ActiveX (OCX). They sent me 2 DLLs which handles communication between web page and Avaya application. A simulator was also sent (bundle attached herewith). The steps to be carried out for testing are-
    Installation procedures:
    i. Register the DTLCRMINT.ocx file. Start->Run-> Type the command
    ii. regsvr32 <ocx file location>
iii. Register the DTLINTCMP.ocx file. Start->Run-> Type the command
    iv. regsvr32 <ocx file location>
    v. Double click on the Clinet.exe it would open up a windows application with a Textbox and Command button. Put In the data which needs to be sent.
vi. Open the CRM Page.html. On opening the OCX would be loaded by default.
vii. Now clicking the Send Data button on the client application, whatever information is there in the Client Text Box would be sent to the web page.
viii. From CRM side, the application needs to use the OCX provided, and must wait for the event. On receiving the event the data that is retrieved as a part of the event can be parsed to update the text box and click on the search button.
    Reasons to drop:
It works fine with basic HTML page. But once integrated with ADF page as an inline frame it doesn't work. We tried to embed the OCX object inside <verbatim> tags, but was not successful. The event fired by ActiveX object is triggered at client side by VBScript function. Avaya's ActiveXs seem to be only working with VBScript according to my understanding. So there was no way for ADF to capture VBScript events.
ADF is capable of javascript up to some extent. To do a critical application like this, my feeling is javascript is never a good option.
    3) To use a text file. Avaya writes, ADF application reads.
    Reasons to drop:
ADF can read the text files with normal java IO methods. But only the server directories are visible. So, Avaya has to write the information in the server file. With using a parameter like user name, ADF application can read the file in regular time intervals (with using poll feature) and get relevant information and automatically run the search.
Initially the idea was to do this at client side. But since this is a web application, file reading at client side is next to impossible. Again when one side is reading and the other side is writing, file access violations may occur.
    4) Another option is if Avaya can offer the value in a web service, the ADF application can get it.
    Reasons to drop:
There may occur a latency as well as Avaya says they can't offer web services.
    5) The ideal solution is, the ADF application's front end control's IDs can be provided. If the Avaya system is capable of accessing or getting hold of DOM and pushing the value to the controls and clicking the button; things would become pretty straight forward. JMeter works like this in testing J2EE applications.
Any Recommendations how can it be done .
    Thanks.

  • Can i catch a virus through Teamviewer App (doing a remote session with other computer) in my iPad?

Can i catch a virus through Teamviewer App (doing a remote session with other computer) in my iPad?

There are no viruses that can affect the iPad.  And a teamviewer session is a remote connection to a computer. Anything you do in the teamviewer session is happening on the remote computer not on your iPad, so unless you manually transfer a file to the iPad there's no way for a virus to move through the session.
And as I said, even if you transferred an infected file from the remote machine, the virus can't run on an iPad so it would not affect it.

  • Sharing Weblogic instance with Forms and ADF apps

We have both Oracle Forms and ADF (10.1.3.4) apps that we are planning to deploy to Weblogic. We are looking for the best approach for the architecture. Our user base is small (30-50 users) and the concurrent demand will be low as well.
    Options we are considering are:
    1. Two separate Weblogic servers, one for Forms and one for ADF
    2. One WL server with 2 domains, one for Forms and one for ADF
    3. One WL server and 1 domain serving both Forms and ADF. We'd probably create the domain for Forms initially then deploy the ADF apps to it as well as the ADF runtime libraries.
Are there any tips as to what we should consider in making our decision?

    1. Two separate Weblogic servers, one for Forms and one for ADF
this will actually segregate the applications.. both application will work independently.. still have to consider about the memory leaks as running two separate servers will take lot of resources.. no common library files access..2. One WL server with 2 domains, one for Forms and one for ADF
rather good approach..works well.. still each will work independently.. no common library dependencies..3. One WL server and 1 domain serving both Forms and ADF. We'd probably create the domain for Forms initially then deploy the ADF apps to it as well as the ADF runtime libraries.
both application can refer to common libraries..

  • Why many sessions with alter session statements?

Currently we are using Oracle 8.1.7 on Tru64Unix and connect with this database via OC4J904. We find many inactive sessions indicated with the SQL statement:
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = 'AMERICAN'
But nobody explicitly issues this statement. How does this occur?

    What is your NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETER 'NLS_LANGUAGE'?
    For example:
    SQL> SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS
    2 WHERE PARAMETER = 'NLS_LANGUAGE';
    PARAMETER VALUE
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
What is the value of the environment variable 'NLS_LANG' for your session?
    On my computer it is:
    AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252

  • Developing ADF app with JDEV10.1.3.5 on OAS with 10.1.3.4 runtimes?

    Hi,
I've migrated an ADF app from JDev 10.1.3.4 to 10.1.3.5
My query is, how does this affect the server? Do I need to update the server runtimes to 10.1.3.5 as well,
or can I leave the server running on its current runtimes (10.1.3.4) ?
    Any advice?

Well, it's certainly better to update the adf runtime too, as you never know when and how it bits you if you don't do it.
You can test it you, but as you need to do a full test leafing nothing untested it's simpler to update your OAS.

  • Date format with alter session -- very urgent !!!!

The default format of date is DD-MON-YY.
I like to change as DD/MM/YYYY. So I tried to do so by going
through my login in SQLPlus and wrote
    ALTER SESSION
    SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD/MM/YYYY'.
The format got changed and there after every query displayed
date in dd/mm/yyyy format. But once I exit sqlplus and reenter
in sqlplus, the format goes away and the default date format i.e
    dd-mon-yy comes in existence.
I want to know, how can i make my date format permanent and too
    for all users.

    hello Khan,
You can set this format in 2 ways, one is
local setting and the other one is on server setting.
    Edit your c:\windows\oracle.ini (local setting)
or your init.ora (oracle server setting)
    and add this script
    SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD/MM/YYYY'
note: if there's no nls_date_format in oracle.ini, the server
nls_date_format in init.ora will be the current setting
    on your PC
    Hope this will help

  • Wls-10.3.4 AD auth failed with ADF 11.1.1.3 app after upgrade from 10.3.3

    Hi,
i have posted same issue on wls-10.3.4 Active Directory Authentication failed after Upgrade from 10.3.3
I'm not sure if this could be an adf or wls topic.
we have a wls 10.3.3 Installation with ActiveDirectory authentication provider.
Delegated authentication against AD has worked very well.
Now we have installed wls 10.3.4 and have configured the ActiveDirectory authentication provider in the same manner.
Users and groups are listed like before in wls console, but authentication from our running ADF application is answered with "invalid username or passwort".
No exceptions are logged in domain or admin server logs.
The application was developed and compiled (ojdeploy) with jdev 11.1.1.3.
wls 10.3.4 domain is upgraded with adf 11.1.1.3 libs.
Authenication over wls console with AD credentials also fails.
Has anybody made same experiences or workarounds?
    Thanks in advance
    Andre

    Hi,
you should take a look at the ADF security files , especially the jazn xml file. Try to open your PS2 application in the new Ps3 Jdev and look if there are changes to the jazn.xml.
Or you can check the jazn data xml file in the fmwconfig folder of the config domain folder.
and check all the authenticators if everything has the sufficient control flag.
    hope this helps

  • File download from a portletized ADF app running in webcenter spaces.

    Hi,
I am having trouble downloading non static files from a portletized(with ADFPortletBridge) ADF application running as a portlet producer in Webcenter spaces .
    This is my scenario :
    Jdev : 11.1.1.3
    Webcenter : 11.1.1
The ADF app has a query page, that uses the af:query component to do a query and display results on a table. This table data need to be exported as a file with some changes like splitting address to component city and state columns .
The ADF app makes use of af:filedownloadlistener to get this(HTML formatted file with an .xls ext is our current preference to get it to open in excel, but could be anything) done . The ADF app works just fine, but as section 30.2.5.5 in the web center dev guide points out http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_bridge.htm#CACBHDEF
    > The <af.fileDownloadActionListener> component is not supported.
The actual behavior however is that the export happens when triggered, but the component keep serving up the same file it created the first time it got invoked every subsequent time. The same file is served even across sessions.
The alternatives I've considered so far are :
    1. <af:exportCollectionActionListener> - Exports what you see on the UI table. Would not work for us, because our exported data is different than whats on screen. (eg: whole addresses are displayed as a single column, but broken down as component city and state columns in exported data )
UPDATE : <af:exportCollectionActionListener> exhibits the same behavior as <af.fileDownloadActionListener> in a portlet environment. The first time after deployment it works, and every subsequent time (across sessions) it serves up the same file it first generated.
    2. redirect to a servlet - admittedly half baked idea - fiire an action that will generate the report, then put it in sessionScope , redirect to a servlet that would pick up the report from session and stream it to the user by setting the servlet's response content type. Very unsure if this would fly in a portlet environment (sorry, I'm new to portlets) and even if it does, section 30.2.5.2 in the web center dev guide says :
Do not redirect or forward a request within your JSP. JSR 168 only supports requestDispatcher.include(). The use of httpServletResponse.sendRedirect() or requestDispatcher.forward() results in exceptions and errors. Am I overlooking some feature that would let me do this or whats the recommended method to achieve this functionality of exporting a file generated at run-time in a portlet environment ?

  • Using ALTER SESSION inside a stored procedure.... not a good idea?

    Hi,
I have two stored procedures, both of which are used to query a database to find a particular book, based on ISBN. One sproc searches our main product catalogue and the other searches our suppliers feed catalogues. The stored procedures are called from a C# application via a search tool and the user is able to search on either our catalogue or our suppliers. The appropriate procedure is called based on the users choices.
However, the following behaviour is observed
I search for an ISBN (is a varchar2 field, as isbn's may contain an X if the checksum digit equates to 10) on a feed, so uses the FEED SPROC. The book is found and returned to the app in about 0.5 seconds. I can repeat this as often as i like on different books etc. always works fine.
I then do the same search but against our own catalogue, so uses our CATALOGUE SPROC. Again the book is found quickly, and the search can be repeated with the same results.
If i then go back and run our FEED SPROC then the search time increases to about 3 minutes !
Both the feed and our catalogue is in the same database, although different schema's the connections will be pooled through our app server.
I can repliacte this every single time. I think i have narrowed doen the cause of this behaviour to a few lines of code in our CATALOGUE SPROC:
    -- store values
    select value into v_vch_NLS_COMP from nls_session_parameters nsp where nsp.parameter = 'NLS_COMP';
    select value into v_vch_NLS_SORT from nls_session_parameters nsp where nsp.parameter = 'NLS_SORT';
    -- Ensure case insensitivity throughout
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP = LINGUISTIC';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT = BINARY_CI';
    do other stuff
    -- restore session variables
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP = ' || v_vch_NLS_COMP;
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT = ' || v_vch_NLS_SORT;
If i remove this code then all is well, so i am assuming that using ALTER SESSION inside a stored procedure is the cause of the problem as it would be changing the execution plan of the FEEDS SPROC in some manner? Any ideas? I know i can just rewrite the sproc to avoid using this coding, but wanted to understand if i am doing something wrong by using ALTER SESSION in this manner?
    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    Hello (and welcome),
It may be a case of having to create a linguistic index to facilitate the queries once you set these session level parameters, i.e..,
CREATE INDEX idx_01 ON tab ((NLSSORT(col1, 'NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI'))It would appear that the setting of those parameters is invalidating index searching on the current indexes.

  • EJB + ADF app

    Hi.
I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 and I'm developing "normal" adf application. Inside this application there is also project named Interface which uses EJB3 tchnology to communicate with outer world and outer world can communicate with my app.
If I call one method of my stateless session bean for first time (after deployment/restart of server) it works fine. Next time I want to execute that method I get error like:
Exception [EclipseLink-7197] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 2.1.3.v20110304-r9073): org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.ValidationException Exception Description: Null or zero primary key encountered in unit of work clone [my.entity], primary key [null]. Set descriptors IdValidation or the "eclipselink.id-validation" property. This happens when I do particualar query (which is ok, for sure).
If I just restart server and reexecute same method and works fine.
For me it looks like there is caching enabled. Or something like that. I have also tried to disable caching with put property inside persistence.xml like:
    <property name="eclipselink.query-results-cache" value="false"/>Without luck.
    Does anyone experience similar problems?
    Any ideas?

  • Can't find bean with adf bc sdo web service

    Hi,
I made a sdo web service with adf bc on the customer table in the oe schema. This works fine, I deployed this on the j2ee container of jdev tp4.

    Thanks Steve.
I had my own jndi.properties file that's why it was working with ejb bean I created in the AM and not with the sdo web service.
I didn't know I had to add the jndi properties to the connection.xml maybe you can update the documentation.

  • 3rd party payment integration with ADF application

    Hi ADF experts,
We have a requirement to integrate our ADF application with 3rd party payment gateway.
For this we have created 2 servlets(one to post data, and one for relay response) which will talk to payment gateway.
Since we are using servelts, we wont have access to bindings or any of ADF features. We manage the handshake between servlets and ADF app by passing data through session variables.
I am not happy with this solution, even though it works in our test environment. I would prefer a complete ADF soultion rather than using servelts/jsps.
Is there a standard way(either inbuilt in ADF or extensions) to integrate 3rd party gateway with ADF application which is safe and secure?
    Jdev used: 11.1.1.1.5
    Payment gateway used: authorize.net
    thanks
    -Venkat

You can access adf application module from a servlet. All you have to do its to setup a pagedef for the servlet.Check out my blog http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/jdev11-1-2-1-0-handling-imagesfiles-in-adf-part-3/ Which shows how to do this.
I'm not aware of standard integration to a payment service.
