Always send AS the initial recipient.

Before I start and/or you start reading let me disclaimer this entire post.
"I understand best practices of Exchange and of Outlook client - If a client asks you for a specific thing that "always worked before" then you would also try to get a solid answer. OK That being said here goes the question.
I have a client that was in business with online media about 4 years ago. He had a vast infrastructure, around 60 employees and over 50 off-site servers for various tasks. After the collapse of the economy he lost everything.
When I met him he had a single desktop running XP Pro. That machine had crashed trapping all of his Email. I rebuilt the machine as a VM and mounted it with Acronis. I used a tool I built to scan the entire PC for .PST files and export to a central location
on a NAS I had. Come to find out there was 17 POP (Netsol) email addresses in that outlook 2003.
He is the only employee now and wants to send AS (not on behalf of) all of these 17 email addresses. I told him, no problem just change the From: field in outlook to send AS the address you want.
****He told me that he never had to do this before, that when he got an email he just hit reply and it would go out as the person that was the original recipient. ****
I moved him to Office 365 and began importing all the old mail into a single profile. After a few days of sync time I asked him to check the email and see if all of it was there. Sure enough it was missing 2010 - 2011 and skipped right to 2012 -2013
with some (about 400 messages) being from 2008 - 2009.
I told him after lots of probing that he would need to get an account for every mailbox he wanted to send from. He agreed to this again stating the above that he never had to type in an address to send as before.
So here is the problem base:
He has the following folder structure in Outlook 2010 currently and it works.. sorta.
1. Domain 1
a. [email protected]
b. [email protected]
[email protected]
2. Domain 2
a. [email protected]
b. [email protected]
and so forth and so on for 17 email address.
I have created SendAs perms with PowerShell and forwarders for all accounts to the others both ways. i.e. Address(@)Mailaccount1.com can send as Domain 2 and so forth across the board.
Last night he asked me to add a new address, so he could send AS and I opened outlook to find only 10 addresses on the From drop down.
I REALLY need to figure out how to make it like it used to be for him. Get a mail to address one while the profile is address 2 and send AS address 1 always without having to choose the address.
I am curious, is there a way to parse the original message recipient using a connector in exchange so no matter what email address he sends from it will ALWAYS reply as the original recipient?
Thanks, sorry its so confusing.
Josh

The functionality was removed in Outlook2013 to change delivery locations. Oh well.

  • Outgoing Mac Mail always send from the same address?

    Hey y'all -
I use 3 gmail accounts through mac mail for 3 different purposes - all fine. But when I send mail, regardless of what account I send it from, recipients always recieve my emails from the same address? E.G. I send an email from addresses 1 or 2, but when they are received they are from address 3? I've also removed address 3 from mac mail, but recipients STILL see address 3 as the sender. Can anyone help? Would a reinstall of mail be appropriate, if so what would be the effective way to go about it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Stu

    SOLVED IT!
Right, I had multiple email accounts, all gmail, address 1 2 & 3.
All mail went to the right addresses, fine. But when I compose, lets say from address 1 or 2, it ALWAYS ends up being received the other end by address 3. I only find this out until I get a reply delivered to the wrong address.
SO  go to preferences, select one of the problematic addresses, then outgoing mailserver (SMTP:) in this case it will say Gmail. Click it so you get the drop down and edit SMTP list. There is a tab that says advanced. This is where I noticed the problem. On my list of SMTP servers I had one for my microsoft account, and then one Gmail one for all 3 gmail accounts. And what did I find for authentication? the username and password of the problem address that ALL my gmail accounts were sending through. You need to create SEPERATE smtp servers for each and every account, especially when using multiple accounts of the same kind (e.g. 3 gmails!)
This fixed the problem for me perfectly and now my emails send from the CORRECT selected address. HOORAH!
    ALSO...
Regardless weather it by gmail or hotmail you compose from, mac defaults to using the next working server. Before setting up seperate smtp servers for each gmail I just deleted the one that was there and then it started sending from microsoft account etc... just to clarify that it works regardless of account type!

  • Spaces always sends  to the same Desktop, drop-lists and combo boxes broken

I have a new behavior that has just started. When I click on the Spaces icon on my dock - it has several weird behaviors. First, no matter what I click on - it will only send me to the upper right desktop. Second, when I move the mouse while using spaces - the animation flickers very strangely. Third, the animation when Spaces opens and closes is VERY VERY slow and it takes several seconds between clicking the Spaces icon in the dock to when the animation is complete and you can select a desktop.
Possibly related (because it started at the same time) all of the auto-complete menus (i.e. - those menus that help you type faster when you enter text into HTML forms etc.) are now un-usable. They flicker in and out so quickly that I cannot click on them. Ditto for any sort of combo-box or drop list control in any application.
Has anyone else started experiencing this problem?

I'll throw out some other ideas.
    A. System wide freak-outs can also be caused by bad or duplicate fonts installed or important fonts missing. Open Font Book and see if any fonts have a dot next to them. If you move or change fonts that are necessary for apps you get many problems. Here is a list of necessary fonts. The system fonts will not allow you to move them so it probably is not one of them. You can also try cleaning the system and font caches using Onyx.
    B. Incomplete upgrades can leave your system in a mess. It would be easier to archive and install then to try and figure out what pieces you are missing.
    C. I would also suspect any third party utilities you have installed, especially in the System Preferences or that activate on start up.
    System Prefs:
    • Out of date utilities for your third party mouse. Try updating the utility.
    • Haxies for the system- try turning them off.
    D. Antivirus programs often cause more harm then good. Do you have any installed? On Windows machine I have used when your subscription expires the software cripples your system. The solution is to completely remove it or renew your subscription.
    E. If you are using a wireless mouse check the batteries.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • How do I set MacMail to always send out from the same account?

I have multiple email accounts for my business but have them set to forward to my iCloud address (because I also have an iPad and cannot get my business mail on that unless it's forwarded). When I reply to business messages I always want to use the business address and only occasionally want to use the iCloud address. Without changing the send out address EVERYTIME, which is what I'm doing now, is there a way to configure MacMail so that it will ALWAYS send out from my business address unless I specify otherwise?
I looked at Help and it says that you can set that preference in Composing, but it doesn't seem to work.

.mac/mobileme/iCloud is only one of many options you can use for Mail.
In fact iCloud is shifting to mostly 10.7.2 or later only which your G5 does not support.
To determine if you can still use iCloud for Mail, read this tip.
POP account simply are either pop.mac.com, mail.mac.com, or mail.mobileme.com, or mail.me.com or pop.me.com.
smtp is the send mail server alone.   And issues with sending mail to a non-internet juice provider typically happen if your internet juice provider blocks any sendmail servers that aren't authenticated.   To solve that problem you need password authentication, and either a port 587, 2626, or 2662 with a username of your e-mail address, and password used for checking mail, and the sendmail server of your choice that knows of your e-mail address in your mail settings.
Using POP is great if you want to store your mail only on your machine.  Otherwise it is better to use IMAP which stores on the server, and lets you copy information up to your machine as you desire.

    Dear Dan,
It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
So what I did was tested and worked for years.
You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader.

  • Iphoto email doesn't always send the mail .....

I tried again to send a photo directly from iphoto with a few lines of text.
It looked correct and the 'sending' bar completed the task but the email never arrived at its destination and there is no record of it anywhere in Mail or on my macbook.
I have been able to email from iphoto before and it has sometimes worked, sometimes not worked.
Should the mail from iphoto show up in my 'sent' mail box?
    thanks,
    c

You do not understand - mail is not iPhoto - if yhou send with iphoto hen mail knows nothing about your e-mail - same for sending via Mail
there is no "sent mail" box for iPhoto
My personal suggestion is to use mail - set it as the e-mail client in teh iphoto preferences
Anothe option is to click the box in iPhoto to always send a bcc to yourself

  • HT2486 How do I remove the grey "contact" selection highlight?  This contact always appears as the email address for the group I want to send to.

How do I remove the grey "contact" selection highlight?  This contact always appears as the email address for the address book group I want to send to.

The group is "undisclosed" there are 6 contacts in the group. The contacts are listed in 2nd column entitled "name", one of these contacts remains highlighted or selected in grey. I can't remove the grey selection of the contact.   When you select the "undisclosed" group as the "to" address the contact highlighted in grey appears in the email address box.  The group name should appear in the email box, but it doesn't.  This began to happen after I upgraded to IOS 10.6.8.  However I'm not sure that has anything to do with the problem?  I do not have "show all member addresses selected."  Your help is appreciated.

  • Has the initial problem with Mavericks with the inability to send a group email been resolved?

Has the initial problem of the inability of Mavericks Mail to send a Group Email been resolved?

I can't try what you suggest since I have not reinstalled Mavericks. I don't want the hassle to recover all my files if I have to return to Mountain Lion (again). I was one of the first users of Mavericks when it rolled out and I was not able to "drag and drop" group emails from my Contacts App. I had to do them one at a time--which was a pain when sending the same email to over 50 persons. I do a lot of them to different groups. I have not been able to confirm with Apple that Mavericks works correctly with mail. Thus I need to rely on users such as you to determine if it is safe to install Mavericks (again). If the mail program works correctly I should be able to drag and drop a group or type the group name into "To", "cc" or "bcc". What say you?

  • Exchange not sending mail to the correct recipient addresses when one of the addresses is incorrect

    Hi,
I am creating an email msg programatically and sending to the exchange server.
When all the recipient addresses are correct, the mail is sent successfully.
But if one of the addresses is incorrect, the server gives a "550 5.1.1 User unknown" error and theemail msg is not being sent to the correct addresses as well.
When this is tested via Outlook, the mail is sent to the correct addresses and there is an error mail from the server stating that the mail was not sent to the incorrect address, this is the expected behaviour.
What needs to be done to get the expected behaviour? There must be some alternative setting being used by outlook.

    Hi,
What you describe can happen if the AntiSpam Agents has been installed
and Recipient Filter Agent is enabled on Mailbox Servers.
    Recipient Filter agent
Although the Recipient Filter agent is available on Mailbox servers, you shouldn't configure it. When recipient filtering on a Mailbox server detects one invalid or blocked recipient in a message that contains other valid recipients, the message is rejected.

  • Iphone 5 crops picture when send it via text message.to  with iphone 5 the photo they get is always cropped on the right side.  Any help?

I have iphone 5 and when I take picture and then later send it via text message to another person with iphone 5 the photo they get is always cropped on the right side.  Any help?

Make sure the contact has a 10-digit number, not just the 7-digit number.
If that isn't it, does the problem only happen with iMessages, SMS or MMS messages?
Try tapping Settings > Messages, then turn SMS and MMS off. Test, then repeat again only leaving SMS or MMS on.
