Nm-applet No keyring secrets found Segmentation fault
I get segfault whenever I want to connect to a new protected (WPA) wifi network.
** Message: applet now removed from the notification area
** Message: applet now embedded in the notification area
** Message: No keyring secrets found for homewifi/802-11-wireless-security; asking user.
Segmentation fault
It works if I logged in as root. Once I have connected to a wifi network in root, I can connect to the registered wifi network when I login with my user account.
After I logged in with my user account, and connected to homewifi, I launch nm-connection-editor. I select the Wireless Security tab, and attempt to change password, I get

which is stupid and not relevant to this problem. networkmanager 0.9 doesn't use gnome-keyring unless is a VPN connection or a wireless using WPA enterprise based on certificates.
PROPER SOLUTION:
compile network-manager-applet with debug symbols, start nm-applet in gdb and get a trace

I'm getting a segmentation fault when trying to upgrade system (pacman -Syu).

Root.sh failure during Grid install - segmentation fault for clscfg
Hi anyone got any idea how to resolve the following error during execution of root.sh on second node of a RAC installation. I see there is a failure when clscfg -localadd is run - perhaps this is the start of the issue. I have no idea what this command is doing

When browsing with midori, it sometimes crashes. It seems to be random, a page might chras it someday, but not the otherday. When run in terminall with -g it gives this:

I dont know witch pages I was looking at when midori chrashed.
I found this, but I'm not sure if I have the same problem. Are this three are all the same problem, and if so, is it something with flash?Are you using KDE? Did you just did an upgrade of KDE?
I had a similar problem and it seems to be related to ~/.kde4 where it seems settings do not get updated. I even have a thread about the Pager Settings not updating.
Anyway ... if this is your case deleting ~/.kde4 and logging out and in again solved the problem for me, for both: Chromium and Firefox. Of course you loose your personal settings but it's faster to re-set your settings than it is to find what file is failing to update in ~/.kde4

Got things going for me.
Redhat 6.0
Oracle 8.1.5
Webdb 2.2
The database was up and working fine. Not as many problems as earlier versions but there was still much grief getting it to work. Save yourself some time, dont charge ahead like I did, read the installation notes.
The installation of Webdb didnt go so well though. Sqlplus would core dump with segmentation fault when a connection to the local instance was attempted. I tried many things, install webdb to 8.1.5 , apply glibc patch, apply 8.0.5 patches to webdb install none of this worked. The workaround I finally found was to use the 8.1.5 listener and the old formatting of a listener.ora and tnsnames.ora file. (i.e. like 7.3.x). Sqlplus would then connect via tcp. Installation still had another problem I could never get past the sys password confirmation. I could connect from the command line with sqlplus s /nolog @passwd.sql sys/mypass@mytnsname but the installer just wouldnt work. An edit of the installation_dir ->webdb-2.2/owa40/owa40.vrf file did the trick. Hard code a location to a dummy pass.sys file.
After many frustrating hours 160 or so - I think I finally have a working database and a working webdb web site. Hope this info might help others.

Xorg segmentation fault / nvidia proprietary blob

I've been experiencing this issue with xorg crashing leaving the system completely unresponsive and with completely black screen. It appears to happen at random times and not consistently at all. It occurred for the first time several days ago. Unfortunately I'm not in a good position to track what may have caused this because I did pretty massive update 2-3 weeks ago. Since then I've been updating pretty regularly.

I'm not really sure whether this is separate issue or not but I thought I should include it here. I don't really know what this is about but I've seen "kwin effects restarted" KDE messages occurring at these times too. I'm not sure how related this may be but I'm seeing lots of artifacts on rendered pages when using chromium browser. Nothing of these used to happen before I went and updated the system. Everything was rock solid for me.

I'm not sure what is supposed to happen after xorg crashes and whether it's being restarted but everything related to xorg is unresponsive. The system otherwise is running fine but I haven't been able to find a solution to recover from this other than cold restart. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard for instance and it's being registered(probably udev is responsible for this) but it's still "dead".
Is it nvidia's fault or something else may be going on? I know you can't really do much dealing with the binary blob. I haven't given nouveau a chance for a long time but I may try this in the future if it helps with something tracking this. I'm using nvidia 325.15-10 package from the official repos for now and the card is gtx 570 fermi. xorg is the latest one in the repos.
I'm not sure what driver version this package is based on(325.15 I guess). On the nvidia site the newest ones are 331.13 beta and 319.60. I can try them but I'm not even sure whether there are some patches needed to make them work with the newest kernels. At least I hope someone could provide more info on this because it seems interesting.

Is this continuing to happen for you? I am experiencing the same issue with version 325. I downgraded from 331 because there were some major bugs in that version. Have you found any solution? -
I'm attempting to convert a workflow from InDesign CS5.5 Desktop with AppleScript to InDesign Server CS6 with JavaScript. It seems most of our templates work fine but every now and then I run into one that seems to work properly but right after we export to PDF and JPG which is the final step in the script I get either a Bus error or a Segmentation fault error. The files do export and the console sits idle for a few seconds then I get the crash. It doesn't seem to give me anything else and I can't find a crash dump or core file anywhere on disk to examine.
The exact same input files on InDesign CS5.5 Desktop completing a very similar automation task via AppleScript work without an issue or error. I'm not certain if it's a problem with the way the InDesign files were put together, a version problem between a CS5.5 file and CS6, or something that I'm doing wrong in the script.
Is there a way to get InDesign Server to go into debug or verbose mode so that it will show more than just two word errors on crash? I've read a few people talking here about the debug version but every path I've found to get access to the debug version runs into a roadblock with a bad link.
I would appreciate a point in the current right direction for how to debug these templates this script.Re: verbose mode. These are not InDesign error messages. They are system errors, saying that an app (InDesign?) crashed, went away, hence could not issue any kind of message. Crash logs are the place to start. If they don't help, and the crash is outside your code, after that it's over to the maintainer (Adobe?)
Worth sharing a suitable crash log, as the list of routines active at the crash can narrow down issues. -
Segmentation fault while updateing [SOLVED]

I got this probem a few days ago, trying to run 'pacman -syu' ends in a segmentation fault.
I have no clue what to do abou it..
I first tryed to update zlib manual as it was last in the list, worked fine. So i tryed wine and trying to update wine end in a segmentation fault.
I uninstalled wine and now i cant reinstall it.

Hi all,
I am trying to run the up2date oracle-validated command for Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 64 bit and it
fails on memory dump errors.

Hi. I have two machines very different, but both of them with fully updated 64 bits Arch with 3.11.2 kernel. I've bought a SpeakOut English course that includes a native linux binary and, for my surprise, it works in one machine but throws a segfault in the other. I would like to know what's the difference, and solve the segfault if possible. The 'sucessful' machine is a wetab tablet with LXDE and intel video drivers, and the 'unsucessful' one is a standard PC with gnome 3.8 and an ATI card (with catalyst-test drivers from AUR).
The binary seems to be very old, it forced me to install several gtk2 32bits packages (in both machines). In the 'unsucessful' machine

So the Steam client is looking for ld.so.preload where it doesn't exist, and accessing the 64bit glibc library.
I think that when Steam runs with runtime disabled, it is supposed to use the 32bit libraries, but it doesn't search
in /usr/lib32 when the runtime is disabled. I rolled back lib32-glibc to 2.20-2 (Dec 1st, 04) and there was no change.

Segmentation fault
If I start up easytag while running KDE3 (kdemod), I get this problem every time. I have tried running it with openbox and it runs without a problem. I have deleted .easytag and reinstalled, but the problem continues.
EDIT: Installing libbonoboui resolves the problem. It looks like the there is a dependency issue here, I'll file a bug.

Python segmentation fault with matplotlib and opencv2
Once again fellow archers, I am in need of your help.
I have a file, Test1.py, which uses cv2, pylab, and numpy.
Excluding either pylab or cv2 functions, I can make the rest of the script work, but when pylab is imported, calling cv2's imshow() function causes a "segmentation fault (core dumped)".
By the sound of it, I thought it might come from the underlying C stuff, rather than python.
So I ran it through gdb.
This is where I need help. I'm not sure how to interprete the backtrace, and I probably wouldn't know what to to if I were.
Perhaps a problem with glib or GObject?

This (ugly) workaround might have saved me from a lot of trouble with this semester's exercises.
Just to be clear, the solution is:
Import opencv
Call namedWindow
Do the rest of the imports
Do the rest of the script
Corect?
I'm hesitant to mark the thread as solved, as the problem is still very much there, this workaround just allows us to ignore it. -
Spotify crashes with ALSA. Segmentation Fault
Spotify crashes on song-change with ALSA. "Segmentation Fault".
Spotify works like a charm when I use pulseaudio. But i dont want to use pulseaudio, i want it to work with ALSA.
So I have completly removed pulseaudio.
Ive tried editing /usr/bin/spotify, xaos3k suggestion on the AUR page.
Tried symlinking libcrypto and libssl.
But still cant get it to work.

Conduit crashes with segmentation fault
I just installed a fresh install of Arch Linux with xfce installed. Everything is up and running. I wanted conduit to synchronize evolution data with my desktop. I was using Xubuntu and everything was fine. But Arch is 2x faster than xubuntu...
The compilation of conduit went right, reported no error.
I run XFCE but I tried to run it from gnome also just if it was an dependency error... Didn't work. I tried to install firefox from sources since it was an run-mozilla.sh segmentation error. Didn't work.

I tried to enable webkit instead of gtkmozembed but I can't see how. I really want to use conduit to sync Evolution suite between desktop/laptop

Desesperate new arch user.I've rebuilt conduit with webkit and GIO support by patching the file defs.py.in in the source directory, however the segfault still occurs on my machine. The only difference is that the run-mozilla.sh error is not given but instead a blank line. Perhaps this is related to a specific plugin not working correctly.
edit: this is also occuring with conduit 0.3.14 release. I may try the SVN version later today.

I've experienced a segmentation fault from Berkeley DB XML Java bindings running in a web application (Tomcat). I'm not able to reproduce the error myself, but it's particularly troubling becasue it brought down the entire JVM that was running the web site. I'm not at all proficient with JNI, so maybe I'm not able to properly diagnose the problem from the logs. Below is the seg fault error that was logged by the JVM:

However, by the nature of this application, those values are NOT taken from user input, so it would be safe to assume that the input comes from a valid, finite set of values.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not yet applied the patch. I will do so shortly. However, I was able to do a bit more tracing, and I think I've gotten to the root of the problem. The seg fault is happening when a null value is used in a query. That is, a Java variable whose value is null is used as the constructor argument to new XmlValue(String s), and then that value is used in the query. I don't know exactly where the error is happening; the log seems a tad ambiguous. Again, I'm not really comfortable at the low-level, but it seems that the stack trace is rooted in the "prepare" java method, but then there seems to be some native trace directly referencing the creation of XmlValue
