Most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to iTunes Support here.
Did you follow the instructions on that page exactly when creating the account (the instructions won't work with existing accounts) ? e.g. if doing it on your phone and you are currently logged into an account then log out of it, find a free app in the app store app, tap on its free price button, tap 'install app', and then tap on 'create new apple id' on the popup that you get. I tried those instructions on my phone a few days ago in response to another thread and I got the 'none' option on the payments screen. -
While folks have complained about the noise in Aperture conversions I've seen no comparison of highlight recovery between Aperture and Adobe Camera Raw.

The highlight in both cases is compensation with the "Exposure" control in both AP and ACR of a factor of -2.

I do agree. But I have to say that from my perspective it was starting to feel a bit obsessive, what with the videos and writing in to macintouch and all. I think you can probably appreciate that people might get riled up when you continue to describe as bugs things that are certainly debatable. But whatever, really. I'd say that Aperture would benefit from someone like you, for whom compositing and layering is a big part of their workflow, being on the beta team.

Highlight Dates with Events in YUI Calendar
I have created a calendar in Dreamweaver CS4 using the YUI Calendar widget and a Spry data set, following the instructions from the Adobe Developer Connection articles. (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/using_yui_widgets.html) I think it works well for my purposes, however I think it would be more user friendly if I could have dates with events highlighted.
For example, if there was an event on December 15, 2009, I would want that date in the YUI Calendar to be highlighted in a different color.
I have read some different ways to do so, but I have limited knowledge of CSS and barely understand any JavaScript.
Is there anyone who can provide me with a simple way to highlight these dates? I would really appreciate any help.For those of you JavaScript people who don't use YUI, here's the code for my page:

I've been using LR2 on raw images from my Canon 20d for quite a while. I recently got a Canon 7d. Raw images from the 7d with almost any blown highlights can not be recovered - unless I'd like a magenta/green tint in the recovered area. The 20d images could be recovered. I'm only talking about areas that are 1/2 stop or so overexposed here. I note that using Canon's DPP does not result in any strange tints. Using DXO does result in the same tints as LR2. While not overexposing anything is the obvious solution, it seems strange that LR doesn't work as well with the 7d as it did with the 20d. I'm running LR2.7 on a PowerPC Mac OSX10.5.8 but I had a chance to try this on LR3Beta and got the same results. Given that Canon's software doesn't have the problem, it would not appear to be a problem per se with my camera. I also saw an earlier discussion but that was before the 'final' profiles for the 7d were available. Here's an example of what happens(The Highlight recovery slider is 45, exposure: -.33):
From what I understand, the odd colour shifts and banding are a known problem of LR's highlight recovery feature, and the LR team is aware of this. Hopefully it will be corrected in the release version of LR 3.

I do a lot of work on white seamless, i.e. the background is supposed to be 100% white. However, the auto highlight recovery (as described here http://www.dpreview.com/articles/7481161037/lightroom-4-public-beta-whats-new/2 ) kicks in and pulls down my white to something like 99%. How can I disable the highlight recovery?

OliverI hear ya olilo123 - Although Lr4's new shadow/highlight recovery is awesome for 95% of my photos, it takes a fair amount of work to undo it in the cases where it's effect is not optimal. In my photography, I find the case comes up more often with the shadows than highlights, when I want them nice 'n black.
As you've noted, simply using the blacks or whites slider is not enough, one also has to fiddle with a few other settings...
Eric: I'm not complaining - the new PV2012 is wonderful! But *if* there were a way to allow even some of us users the ability to selectively shut down the shadow and/or highlight recovery, it would be a nice touch.
Dunno if anyone's given thought to an "Enable Advanced Settings" preference, so beginning users are not troubled with the more esoteric settings...
And please don't recommend just using PV2010 - its like recommending someone walk when they don't like the song that's playing in the car... ;-}

Do new computers come with OS X redemption code?
I just purchased a factory refurbished iMac from the Apple Online Store.
The specs from the online store said it was eligible for the up-to-date program.

Unfortunately, this unit did not come with a Mountain Lion redemption code.
It did come with 10.8 installed and then I was able to update to 10.8.2 which is fine.
The problem now, is that the Apple Store says I do not own a copy of Mountain Lion as it is not in my Apple ID in the store.
To reinstall Mountain Lion, they said I could use the recovery mode and didn't need Mountain Lion to show in my Apple ID.

I have contacted the up-to-date program and they told me my iMac is not eligible.

You have never owned the OS. You have always had nothing more than a license to use it. That is generally true for most of the software you have purchased.
If you want to purchase a copy of Mountain Lion from the App Store, then log into the store using a computer with Snow Leopard or Lion installed under your Apple ID. Purchase and download the Mountain Lion installer. When the download has completed, quit the installer. Put it in your Downloads folder or transfer to a USB flash drive for safekeeping.
Getting Mountain Lion via a redemption coupon lets you download Mountain Lion from the App Store. The license for the App Store version versus the one for the pre-bundled version is not the same. I just bought an new ipad mini with wifi and cellular. Is there any way to send text messages to people and contacts that do not have iphones such as friends with blackberrys or a samsung galaxy smartphone from this ipad. Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

New IMac 27"with dual internal hard drives
How do I manage Data on my new IMac 27"with dual internal hard drives? I have just migrated my data to my new computer. Since I've done it from a TM backup, it all went to the Analog HD. Ressearching online I've figured I could re-run Migrating assistant and replace different data between the SSD and the Analog. My problem now is: I want to keep my Music Library (iTunes), my Aperture Library and my documents on the analog, and use the SSD for System, Users and Apps. Aperture, is easy, because both Aperture and iPhoto can find their way, bt iTunes and My documents are a issue. Can Anyone help me?
Install OS X on the SSD:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your SSD volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on
the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero
Data option to one-pass. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to change the target disk to your SSD.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
After you boot from the SSD open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the user account and select Advanced Options. You will see a Home Dir: field with a Browse button on the right. Click on the button. Navigate to the HDD's Users folder. Select your account folder then click on the Open/Choose button. You must restart immediately.
Upon the restart your SSD system will now be using your actual Home folder located on the HDD. You can then go about installing your applications or copying them from the HDD to the Applications folder on the SSD (and also from the Utilities folder on the HDD to the one on the SSD.) You will likely need to do some transfers of the Applications Support and Preferences folders found in the main Library folder. -
i see that i have a problem after installing my new hard drive on my macbook pro mid 2009 version. I put a new hard drive, with all of my information from my old drive installed on it, into the computer. but now have the blinking question mark folder. I see that it means that it isn't reading the new hard drive.
did i miss a step between transferring all of my information from my old hard drive to the new hard drive and installing the new hard drive into the computer. I believe that i installed properly. it was quite easy.
thanks for your helpIt means there is no bootable system on the drive. If you still have access to the old drive, then I suggest you boot from it then clone it to the new internal drive. Use OPTION boot to boot from the Recovery HD on the old drive:
