Do you also have Premiere installed?  If so, try this:
Launch Premiere and choose Help > Sign Out
Quit and relaunch Premiere.  Sign back in with your Creative Cloud ID when prompted.
Quit Premiere and launch Media Encoder.
Check if MPEG2 exporter and presets are available.

Crashing during Exporting - I tried to export my sequence containing several clips both in Premier and AME and it keeps crashing - Help Pls.

    Thanks for your reply John.
My Premiere Pro is CS5.5 on Windows OS with all the recent updates installed.
My source footage is H.264 in a .mov/QuickTime format.
There were no error message(s) before the crashing. The computer just crashes after a few minutes of exporting. My output codec is also H.264 in a QuickTime movie format.
No other software is running at the time. Also, no third party codecs have been installed.
I'm not sure what type of engine I use. Kindly direct me to where I can find this information.
The problem has only happened with my final output.
    Thanks Again.

  • Really need help with AME Adobe Media Encoder crash on startup.

Hey all, this is my first time posting in these forums.
I have Adobe Design Premium and need to use the included Media Encoder for a project I'm working on.  It opened well the first time, and I started converting a file - at which point it crashed.  Since then, when I start it, it shows the startup / loading image, but once finished opening disappears and closes itself.  I've tried reinstallig, no dice.  I also read the plugin log files (My Documents > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > Log Files) - nothing out of the ordinary.
Very stuck and very frustrated - any suggestions would be really appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi Michael. Without more information about output settings, the project, the computer, etc, I can't speculate on the cause of the initial crash. I can, however, offer a suggestion as to why the app is now failing to launch: the initial crash may have corrupted the application settings. If you delete those settings, or otherwise hide them from AME, then the app will create fresh settings on the next launch.
    Windows Vista & Win 7: C:\Users\<<yourUserName>>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\<<yourCreativeSuiteVersion>>*
    Windows XP (from distant memory): C:\Documents and Settings\<<yourUserName>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\<<yourCreativeSuiteVersion>>
    Mac: <<partition>>\Library\Preferences\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\<<yourCreativeSuiteVersion>>
*On Windows 7 & Vista, if you can't see the App Data folder, you'll need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders: Tools>Folder Options>View tab.
If this does the trick to get AME running again, and if it again crashes on you, please provide as much information as you can about the project, export settings, system, etc.

I have the problem, that i can´t render a very tiny project in AME CC (adobe media converter) while the rendering in AE CC with the cue works.
My Project contains one comp (ray traced 3D) with 4 layers of which one is a light, one is a camera, and two are 3D Layers of animated graphic elements (the first contains three animated .ai-Layers and the second 3 pictures and an animated extruded Form).
I can see rendered frames in the project in AE CC in under one second but when i try to render it in the media encoder (AME CC), the rendering process is extremly slow. If Adobe would offer the h.264 (mp4) codec in AE CC, i would have no problem, but since its only available in AME, i need to render it with the AME.
My Memory Allocation in AE CC is: 21GB used for AE, MP on with 8 Cores (and 2GB for every Core), disk cache is activated with 12GB on a SSD only used for caching, which contains also the media database and the media cache.
When i try to render the project with AME, the pc uses every core, despite than using 8, causing 100% cpu usage on all 12 cores (although 2 cores are reserved for other programs).
Rendertime AE CC (Quicktime, FullHD, h.264, 5mbit): 3:16min
Rendertime AME CC (Quicktime, FullHD, h.264, 5mbit): stopped after 6 Minutes with 1/4 of the clip rendered, AME CC hangs causing 100% CPU usage
Another project, which is rendering fine in AE CS6 (the second mentioned in the start post), renders super slow in AE CC (30sec (CS6) compared to 1:44min (CC) max per frame), so that i have to come to the conclusion, that there some issues with the AME CC Rendering Engine.
I´am in motion graphics and video cutting for 15 years now, but had never such problems with rendering my projects.

  • AME CS6 Mac always crashes on quit

More an annoyance than anything.  My renders are fine.  Is there a fix for this?
    MacPro3,1 8-core, 32G RAM, 10.7.4, Quadro 4000, ATTO R680 RAID5, Adobe Production Premium CS6, all updates installed.

Not much activity on this list, is there?
Anyway... never mind.  Fixed the crashing on quit by deleting the prefs.

  • Premiere to AME CS6 Analyze Content freeze/crash

I am unable to analyze content for speech recognition either including an adobe story script or not as well as face recognition.  Send all clips in bin to batch analyze and AME freezes halfway through the first clip every time causing both AME and Premiere to crash.

Well, I suppose that's evil, but since you did not provide any bit of system info, I'm afraid we can't help you much. In any case, usage questions are best directed at the product specific forums. And realyl, do provide more details. They'll need them!

  • Premiere pro CS6.0.3 keeps crashing when exporting to H.264

    Good day everyone,
I am trying to export my timeline using some of the H.264 setting and it keeps crashing on me. Not all of the H.264 like the Apple and Android settings.  Those work fine.  But trying to export to  H.264 Youtube (any presets), H.264 HD 1080I 29.97 and HD 1080P 29.97 it will process to around 80%-95% than crash.  It gives me an error message than gives me three files that can help with finding the problem.
I have tried to export using Premiere and also AME.  They both crash at the same point.
I have tried creating new projects, new sequences and such.  No luck.
Currently I am using Premiere Pro CS6.03, Adobe Media Encoder CS 6.03 as well.  Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core [email protected] with 8GB ram.  My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670.  Any advice would be most helpful and appreciated.
    Thanks

I solved what might be a similar problem last evening by lowering the speed of my i7-3055K (nominal 3.9GHz) to 4.2GHz from 4.5GHz.
My symptoms were similar: new PC build (10 days old); crashing or blue screens about 1 minute into a 3 minute Premiere export or AME render, Win7 Pro.  The system had previously been very stable.  At first I suspected an H264 codec problem or an iTunes/Quicktime incompatibility but when an AVI render using the NTSC DV Widescreen preset crashed it broadened my search for solutions.  Mercury GPU render on/off did not fix the crash problem.
The render last evening was probably the first time that my new CPU was seriously stressed.  Lowering the CPU speed was the quick solution.  Overclocking sites/forums probably have tips on stress tests, memory tests, voltage tweaking, etc but as long as the system is stable I'll probably be satisified with the slower CPU solution.
The CPU cooling is the Intel stock fan.  32GB of Corsair memory is running at its rated PC1600.  CPU and memory voltages are the defaults, i.e., no tweaking.  Intel DZ77RE-75K motherboard. EVGA GTX680 FTW+ 4GB at its defaults, i.e., no overclocking/tweaking.  1000 watt power supply , which is probably overkill but it's what I had lying around (I have an almost identical setup (GTX460 rather than GTX680) which runs fine at 4.2GHz with a 700-watt PSU -- but I've never stressed that 2nd PC with an Premiere/AE/AME render).

  • Restoring saved queue after computer crashes

Is there a way to do this? Would the media cache help as well?
I'm on mac osx 10.8.3 5g of ram adobe media encoder cs6. My computer happened to crash as I was enconding a video a couple times now- probably just due too much running in the background at the same time.

Use File > Save Queue (CTRL/Cmd + S) to force AME to save the state of the queue at any time.
Otherwise, AME only saves the state of its queue when you quit. If AME or your computer crashes before that happens, you will lose any changes made since AME was launched.
Also, by default AME removes completed items (successful, stopped, or failed) from the queue when you quit. You can change this behavior in AME's Preferences > General > "Remove completed items from queue on exit".

  • Ongoing problems with newest Mac Pro and CS4

    Hi all,
I've just switched from a Final Cut Pro editorial house to a new company that bases production around the Adobe Production Suite using Premiere Pro CS4 for all our editing needs. From what I understand about this company (and this workstation) is that Premiere Pro CS4 has been buggy on this machine and this machine only. I find this strange as it is one of the newer high end mac systems available right now and is more than capable of crushing most video that will be put into it.
    In brief a summary of the problems include;
1.) Final exports rarely work, no matter the codec, bit rate, size, duration, etc.
2.) If AME CS4 does manage to successfully export a piece it will generally have random black frames right at every cut starting about halfway through the piece.
3.) Even so much as switching sequences within a project manages to bog the system down and crash it, thus making me have to force quit the program and occasionally restart the machine.
4.) After rendering the work area the machine suddenly becomes unresponsive and thus causes another crash/force quit scenario.
5.) Certain audio tracks will play for about 2min and 30seconds and then mysteriously go silent, while a clear and present waveform is able to be seen (however occasionally premiere will cut this part of the clip off!)
I will post the hardware and software specs below but I feel it is necessary to detail why I find these problems to be extremely peculiar.
Firstly the projects we have are generally shot on the 5D MkII. I understand CS5 has the ability to play these clips back through it's mercury playback system (after it's own internal conform) at real-time and allow you to edit as if it had been transcoded traditionally. We are planning on obtaining a copy of CS5 in the near future but I am currently worried if these problems may be associated to faulty hardware.
Upon my arrival I formatted every drive and did a clean install of OSX Leopard 10.6.5 as well as a fresh install of Adobe Production Premium CS4 (updated to most recent release). This leaves out any possibility of a plug-in such as the red giant filters or sapphire filters interfering with the rendering and exporting process. Nothing seems to work. Even throwing an uncompressed 8-bit clip into AME CS4 manages to crash it.
A coworker of mine had two great ideas on the problem the other day for me to test out. The first being that it could be a bad piece of ram. I figure this could be a possibility as I don't know the history of this machine and I noticed all the RAM slots are full of 1gig sticks (and two 4gig sticks) so there could be a bad one in the bunch. I went through the process of elimination leaving one stick in at a time and testing an export (extremely time consuming) and every time it failed. His second idea was to take my project file and associated media to the creative directors computer which happens to be a two year old Mac Pro running CS4 (on OSX Leopard). He has several plug-ins installed along with tons of additional applications etc etc. Sure enough I loaded up my project file consisting of a bunch of 5D MkII footage and it played back perfectly, exported perfectly, tabbed through sequences perfectly, and did everything it should!
My question is why. Why would his older machine work with this footage on the same version of Premiere Pro CS4 and not my newer, faster, shinier editing machine? I've done everything I can to test any theory I've come up with both from my own experience as well as through internet research. Deleted PList, emptied RAM, emptied Cache, reformat and reinstall, swap RAM around, tested different hard drives, etc. The problem is not isolated strictly to the H.264 files the 5D MkII produces either, as even the uncompressed 8-bit files I've brought in won't play nicely with the system either. It's such a bummer that my first experience with Premiere Pro had to be on a machine that has these horrible quirks but I feel it has a lot to bring to the table over Final Cut Pro and I would love to find a solution to this problem so I can get back to cutting!!
Thank you in advance for all of your help!

The move from FCP to PP is a good one, however, it's only half way there.
Next, move to a Windows 7 64 based machine using an i7 950 and 12 GB RAM at a minimum (with a GTX 460 or better as a seriously considered option), and then upgrade to CS5.
Chances are more than excellent that doing will resolve all your issues.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Locking up with AVCHD

    Greetings,
I have run so many tests on this project I don't know what else to try, so here it goes...
    My system -
    Windows 7
    ASUS P6T mobo
    Core i7 920
    Quadro FX 1800 w/Elemental Accelerator
    PPro Prem Prod CS4
All current drivers and updates installed
I have plenty of speed to run AVCHD but upon encoding in AME there is a crash issue.
Source footage is 10 minutes of AVCHD (.mts) captured at 17Mbps, 1920x1080i, 60i.(I've also tried other AVCHD source footage).
I run Elemental Accelerator on a Quadro FX 1800 card with the latest version of drivers. The CS4 version is also latest version.
The footage is edited in PPro. It has several titles, one of which is an AE linked title, but fairly simple.
The footage is edited as timelapse, sped up between 200-400%, so, it's pretty 'busy'.
Audio track is standard .wav file
Upon export, I wanted to make a master file at 1920x1080p, using Elemental H.264...or Elemental MPEG-2.
I check render at maximum quality....multiplexer is TS. I've tried the preset bitrates, and custom from 12-28kbps.
Every time I set it to encode, AME locks up....at random times. The entire system locks, no mouse response, and have to do a hard restart.
I've tried MANY test clips...mostly around 2-5 minutes in length. Sometime the shorter clips will render, but if I go over this length it always locks up.
I did try bitrates ranging from 12Kbps to 28Kbps....and it did seem once I went over 15Kbps they ran longer or enabled a longer 'attempt' or a successful encode up to 5mins. Still, with those exact settings it locks up on a longer encode.
I made a successful encode using a non-Elemental preset, but it takes foooreever. 3.5 hours for 10 minutes of footage at 1920x1080p...which seems ridiculously long on a GPU enhanced card. As a comparison, I have a third party encoder (AVS) and it FLIES through the (pre-rendered) footage at blazing speeds with good quality. (Yes, I know that's diff than the first pass encode however).
I've tried un/reinstalling CS4, Elemental, and all drivers on a CS4 Clean Script for Windows....no help whatsoever. Defragged, ran CCleaner....no help.
Is my bitrate too low? GPU issues? Voodoo curse?
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your response dradeke. Yes, that was one of the fist things I checked. I double checked with Elemental Tech support, and even sent them my project files to see if they could duplicate the crashes but they have not found any issues on their end. I have all the updates to both CS4, EA, Windows.
I'm at a total loss here...I've even switched the projects to other drives, and tried deleting prefs.

  • Adobe Media Encoder fails to open (URGENT!)

when I try exporting my material in premiere pro, it opens AME and then it crashes, every time. If this is a common error, can someone plz help me? I haver INCREDIBLY little amount of time.
What I am editing is to be published tomorrow for a promo at a website, and it NEEDS to be finished.
    Please help me~

    >my laptop crashed and I got this really fancy blue screen
That is a sure sign of driver problems.
    Some troubleshooting tips.

  • Memory Preferences Resetting to 0

Every time I open Premiere or Media Encoder the Memory (RAM) for other applications is set to 0. With this, anytime you try to use AME for anything, it crashes.  I've changed it several times but it will go back (after closing the program) and then crashes all the Adobe products. I have Premeire Pro Cs5.5 on a Windows 8, HP Phoenix Envy with 12 GB of RAM. I'm getting no message, just a crash. I unstalled the program and re-installed it. The preferences were set that all the RAM should go to the Adobe products when I checked it. The computer is just out of the box. My company recently bought several to expand our video editing department. All the other computers with the exact same specs are not having this problem.

  • FLV Import Bug

We use Adobe Live Media Encoder 3 for streaming live events. Then we try to edit the FLV files from the recordings and the video and audio tracks are always out of sync on those when importing them into Adobe Premiere CS4.
Do you know if there is anything that can be done to fix that?
The FLV files play fine in Adobe Media Player.

    Ann,
I believe you are correct on this. Here is my update:
I edited the FLV footage, per Webmaster's instructions to me. This was on my laptop with CS2 (same install as my workstation). The edits went fine, BUT, when I went to Export to FLV (AME), I got instant crashes.
I decided to move the Project to my workstation, from the laptop. Same OS and version. Three hundred plus CODEC's, vs 223 on the laptop. Same installation discs for Production Studio. Guess what - PrPro 2 on the workstation would not import the FLV. No go - nothing.
I have been looking at what is different, between the two systems. At first, I thought that maybe it was PrElements 4 on the laptop. However, PE4 would not Import the file either (only PrPro 2). OK, I looked at the CODEC's and it appears that the laptop has 223 of the 339 that the workstation has - nothing more, that I can find. I looked at several other "tools," and cannot find anything that the laptop has, that the workstation does not. I'm still in the process of this research. If I can find the difference, I will be sure to post it.
Back to Webmaster's Project: I've Exported as both MPEG-2 muxed and .MOV. The MPEG-2 had a large green line on the right-hand side of the image - unusable. No Export Preset could rid the file of this. It was semi-transparent, and I'd guess about 20 pixels wide. The .MOV looks good, and sounds as good as the original. I have some comments to make to Webmaster, regarding the filming and audio on the footage, but will do that in another reply.
You have pointed out a discrepency in my PrPro installations, but I cannot yet tell you what that discrepency is. When I track it down, I will post it. Whatever it takes to get PrPro 2 to ingest FLV needs to be shared. Whatever it is, will possiblly work with CS3 & CS4. I'm next off to do a list of all .dll's and VST's on the laptop.
On one hand, I'm glad that I tried this on the laptop first, and not the workstation. Now, I know that it can work. I've just got to find out how. On the other, I cannot tell you the why and the how. That bothers me greatly. When I know, you shall know too.
    Hunt
PS Next, I thought that maybe Adobe Media Player was the device, as I only had it on the laptop. Installed on the workstation, but that wasn't it either.

  • AME CC crashes on startup

Today, AME CC has suddenly started crashing on load. It was fine last week, which made me suspect an update, but no Windows updates have occurred since this time.
I have uninstalled all 3rd party plugins (as it was initially hanging on Shine.aex) but now it is hanging on a different AEX plugin (Vignette.aex). It fires an 'Adobe Media Encoder CC has stopped working' event.
I am up to date with all updates, and have installed AfterEffects CC, Premiere Pro CC, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC, Acrobat XI, Bridge CC, Exchange Panel, Extension Manager CC, & Flash Pro CC.
It also won't trigger from inside AE or PP. I am running Windows 7 64bit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Ian

    > I have uninstalled all 3rd party plugins (as it was initially hanging on Shine.aex) but now it is hanging on a different AEX plugin (Vignette.aex).
You seem to have not actually uninstalled all third-party plug-ins, since the problem is occurring with loading the Vignette.aex plug-in, which is a Red Giant plug-in.

  • Adobe Media Encoder (AME) CS6 Crashing on Start

    Hi there,
    I'm facing a disgusting problem..
I am not able to start AME in my Desktop (win 8). It was working good but suddenly it closed & crashed.... Now I can't start this application it crshed everytime.
tried all possible solution from adobe forum but failed.
    sloution please..
    thanks in advanced.

If clearing prefs doesn't work, you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling AME (this is done from the host application that installed it; Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
Also, do you get any error message before or after the crash?  Posting the error text or a screen shot may help us troubleshoot this.
