An error occured while opening the connection: Object reference not set to

After I uninstalled Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET 10.1.0.4 and installed Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET with Oracle10g Release 2 ODAC 10.2.0.2.21 I got the error message below when I want to connect to my 10g database using Oracle Explorer.
Error:
An error occured while opening the connection: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
I use OracleConnection to open also cannot be done. But I use Oracle SQL Developer I can connect to orcl that I cannot connect using ODAC 10.2.0.2.21 in my laptop.
Please help me.
Ming Man

Sorry my mistake, I double checked, the one I uninstalled is ODAC 10.2.0.2.20 and not ODAC 10.1.0.4.
But I have that error.

  • "An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your presentation, exit, and restart PowerPoint."

    In PowerPoint 2013 on Windows 7 - 64 bit, when
    File / Save as is selected, an error message comes up stating, "An error occurred while opening the file dialog. Please save your presentation, exit, and restart PowerPoint." This is an intermittent issue and also
    affects Excel 2013. I have tried repairing it, done windows update and also uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck. I have researched this issue but it relates to Office 2007 and 2010 and the resolution does not support 2013.
    Has anyone come across this issue? If so how did you resolve it?
    Many thanks….

  • An error occured while creating the new dataset Could not get type informat

    Uses: Windows XP Pro SP3+; OracleXE; Oracle 8i Client; ODP.NET; Visual Studio 2005 PRO;
    I had OracleXE and was using OracleXE's Oracle.DataAccess Version 10.2.0.100 which was located in C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN. Then to use Oracle Developer Tools for VS, I installed ODAC where the Oracle.DataAccess's version was 2.111.6.20.
    Everything connected via SqlPlus and even was able to Oracle XE Home page and was able to loginto it. Further, was even able to create connection with Oracle Dot Net Provider. The problem was created when I tried to create a datasource from DataSource Menu in VS.2005. It was giving an error saying "An error occured while creating the new dataset Could not get type information for dataset". However I wittnessed that Dataset is been created in Solutions Explorer but not in Data Source Tab. Further researching I was able to create Datasets with Microsofts Oracle Data provider with out any issue.
    My Path variable list the following:
    C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1;
    C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\bin;
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\bin;
    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\;
    C:\Program Files\Borland\BDS\4.0\Bin;

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;
    c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\;
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\BINN;
    C:\Program Files\java\jdk1.6.0_07\bin.
    Further I got 2 Oracle Homes one which C:\orant and other is located in C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1.
    Also noted that while deploying at client site I started gett'n this error:
    "Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly Oracle.DataAcces version be installed in Global Assembly Cache First."
    Is it due to change in the production machine? Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pushpa,
    Which enhancement package are you on currently? This is observed in cases where originals in DIR's are invisible and sometimes error message 26296 occurs in transaction CV01n. Hence,please check your entries in the table SDOKPROP to avoid such a problem in your system.
    Further,suggest you explore if the below resolutions can be adopted in your case.

  • Get Error -An error occurred while installing the extension "Lastpass". Not just Lastpass, ANY extension I try to install HELP!

    I am getting an error - An error occurred while installing the extension “Lastpass”. Not just Lastpass, ANY extension I try to install. I just updated to Mavericks 10.9.1. Safari version 7.0.1. This is super frustrating. I was going to try to delete the extentions.plist and I cannot find that. I reset Safari. I tried just sropping files into the extentions folder, that doesn't work. Can someone please help?

    Back up all data.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked
    Allow user to administer this computer
    Then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
    Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
    You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
    In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
    In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

    Thanks from me too Neal - this worked from me. I wan't able to consume directly from exchange because the certificate is broken. However, I was able to convince Google Chrome to let me view the /Services.wsdl and from there I could save the .wsdl and two
    .xsd files. In my case the problem lay at the top of the .wsdl file. I changed the following:
    <wsdl:types>
            <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
                <xs:import namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/messages" schemaLocation="messages.xsd"/>
            </xs:schema>
    by giving the same targetNamespace as assigned in the <wsdl:definitions element, so I ended up with
    <wsdl:types>
            <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/messages">

  • An Unknown Error Occurred While Opening the Project

    Hi folks,
    PLEASE help if possible, folks! I am working on a project for a client and have run into this repeatedly.
    I am on a mid-2013 Mac Air. I'm running the file off of a USB3 Seagate portable drive formatted as Windows NT as I do not have enough space for the video files on my Mac.
    I am running Premiere 7.2.1 (4).
    My OS is version 10.8.5.
    The videos are typical little MOV or MP4 files. They edit fine. I save the file, close it, then go back to continue editing them and I get the following error:
    I checked my auto-saves. Same thing. They're all corrupted as well.
    I tried importing the project into a new project. It hangs OR it spits out the following error:
    Any suggestions?
    Anything is appreciated, even just sympathy. I'm fixing to just give up and switch to AfterEffects or even Camtasia. My client, who is also a dear friend of mine, is trying to get me to use iMovie.
    -Kate

    Hi Andrew and others,
    Actually, I have a program that allows my Mac to write to the hard drive (MacDrive, if I remember right). I've never had a problem with it.
    I'm currently downloading Premiere on one of my PCs to try it there, although I'm sure the file is still corrupt.
    If anyone has any other suggestions or questions, please let me know.
    Thank you again, Andrew, for trying to help!

    Thanks for the suggestion Deepu. I looked at the available downloads and saw there was a SP13 available, so I downloaded that and will try this on Monday May 21st.
    I will also check the .NET 1.1 framwork and hotfixes.

  • WFA 3.1RC1 throws "Object reference not set to an instance of an object", worked in 3.0P1

    I am running a custom workflow to create volumes that has worked since WFA 2.x, and which works well in 3.0P1. With WFA 3.1RC1 it throws this error when attempting to apply a quota to the volume:   INFO  [Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree] Started Quota resize on volume post_wfa31rc1_test2_w_mirror on vserver MySVM   ERROR [Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree] Command failed for Workflow 'Create Volume (Schwab)' with error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.  INFO  [Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree] ***** Workflow Execution Failed ***** I have executed the PS commands from this code block in a PS shell with no errors. Has anyone else seen a similar issue with 3.1RC1?     Scott Lindley

    I have narrowed the problem down to a single command and can reproduce the problem very easily. However, I can't seem to fix it. But I believe importing this single custom command into both a WFA 3.0P1 and WFA 3.1RC1 system will easily show that it works in 3.0P1 and throws the odd 'Object reference not set to an insance of an object' error. I say that is an odd error because I'm only used to seeing that error at Preview time referring to an object reference in a Command Parameter field of a workflow. I know how to deal with that issue. However here, the error appears at the end a PowerShell command. Actually, the PowerShell command appears to me to execute entirely and correctly. It is just that at the end of running this exception error is thrown and that causes the command (and workflow if running within a workflow) to fail. But the comamnd correctly adds the 'default' quota policy to the volume and even enables quota resize as it should. So it works, but still blows up the workflow it is within. I'm going to attempt to attach these three things here:    1) screenshot showing the command running (with Command Test Button) fine under WFA-3.0P1,    2) a screenshot showing the command running but throwing the error on a WFA-3.1RC1 system    3) the ,dar file holding just the command: "Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree" (I added .txt to the end of .dar file name) ------1) running OKay on 3.0P1  -------------------------- 2) running with the ERROR on WFA 3.1RC1  SOME NOTES: My lab environment where I re-created the problem:    The WFA 3.0P1 system is a Windows 2008R2 server that happens to have the original PowerShell 2.0 on it    The WFA 3.1RC1 system is a Windows 7 system that I have updated PowerShell to 4.0. The customer environment:    I'm less certain of details (maybe Scott can fill in)    The version of PowerShell is TBD (guessing 2.0) , but they are running the same PS version for both 3.0P1 and 3.1RC1 because they are upgrading/downgrading WFA on the same system

    The system cannot find the file specified
    I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
    Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
    many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
    How do I connect to my Local DB?
    Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
    instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
    I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
    I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
    May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
    Some of the things I have tried:
    From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
    net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
    net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
    on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

    Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

    It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
    Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
    If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
    name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
    is the instance name you set during install).
    You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
    recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

    Please help me to solve this issue. I don't know if uploading the excel workbook is enough or maybe It needed to connect to another data source.
    I Appreciate in advance.

    Hi Ali.y,
    Based on the current error message, the error can be related to the
    Claims to Windows Token Service (C2WTS) and is an expected error under certain conditions. To verify the issue, please check the aspects below:
         1. The C2WTS Windows service and C2WTS SharePoint service are both running.
         2. Check the SQL Server Browser service is running on the machine that has the PowerPivot instance of SSAS.
         3. Check the domain. You're signing into SharePoint with a user account in some domain (call it Domain A).  When Domain A is equal to Domain B which SharePoint server itself is located (they're the same domain), or Domain
    A trusts Domain B.
    In addition, the error may be caused by Kerberos authentication issue due to missing SPN. In order to make the Kerberos authentication work, you need to configure the Analysis Services to run under a domain account, and register the SPNs for the Analysis
    Services server.
    To create the SPN for the Analysis Services server that is running under a domain account, run the following commands at a command prompt:
    • Setspn.exe -S MSOLAPSvc.3/Fully_Qualified_domainName OLAP_Service_Startup_Account
    Note: Fully_Qualified_domainName is a placeholder for the FQDN.
    • Setspn.exe -S MSOLAPSvc.3/serverHostName OLAP_Service_Startup_Account
    For more information, please see:
    How to configure SQL Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint Server 2010 / 2013 for Kerberos authentication
