Analysis diagram

I have a problem which will eventually be solved using
ejbs and servlets but have been asked to produce an
analysis class diagram without mentioning servlets,
ejbs and databases.
The application is an online bank, the diagram should
not mention any technologies, what sort of things
should I include and how should I present it?
ejbs => DAO http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/DataAccessObject.html
You just need one per entity.
database => data model. You refer to storage in terms of a "persistent store" (any place you feel the urge to put "database" put "persistent store" instead.)
Servlets => Session Facade http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/SessionFacade.html
(However poke around something else in the bottom layer might fit a little better.)
Keep in mind that the above are patterns and do not tie you to an implemention (including implimenting it in java.)

RAR - management view - Role Analysis diagram shows zero

Hello,
we were able to run the Full Sync for role/user/role and Batch Risk Analysis user/Role/Profile and Critical Acess to completion successfully.
In the Informer tab, Managerment View, the risk Violations and Users Analysis shows reasonable figures. However the Role Analysis , it shows zeros for the risk violations and risk violations for user and roles.
Could someone point out where is likely the problem so i could go and check ?

Load errors are logged and can be accessed through the out-of-the-box HTML-based interface or public SQL views. Through the views, one can write any query (i.e. report) to make the output understandable to the end user.

This happens, both in the Warehouse Builder context and in Oracle Workflow, the execution engine Warehouse Builder leverages.

Yes, it can. You can even use the out-of-the-box impact analysis diagrams in order to identify what is the impact of the changes. That helps you pro-actively respond to changes.
4)The extract tool should not impact on either the technical configuration or data structures within the base systems.
You design the transformations between source and target yourself, so you can control this requirement.

UML tool: plugin vs. standalone

We use Eclipse in our company and are looking for a UML tool.
What is better: A plugin or a standalone tool?
Or do you have any other ideas (what is important concerning an UML tool)?

I am a beginner in UML and programming. But I tell you my opinion.
What you suggest any painting tool could do (except the reverse engeneering for documentation of the design).
I think it would be handy to have most information (UML and of course source code) available inside the IDE. So I prefer a plugin.
If you need to maintain a component, you have everything together: analysis diagrams and design diagrams, all accessible with the IDE. So you waste no time using another standalone tool looking for the UML documentation or even make errors because of that extra effort. We have many packages and our components are spread across different packages.
I think forward engineering is useful. Many of our programmers are inexperienced with UML. If they have a tool with roundtrip engineering then this helps them learning UML because they see the results in the code. Further there is no need to convert the diagram manually to source code (which means spending extra time) because of forward engineering. Its easy to adjust the output code to the team preferences. This can be done with a few mouse clicks in Eclipse.
If the programmer creates and maintains the UML design documentation while he programs a component, then this helps himself to keep track of it. Thus he will be faster finishing his work in my eyes. He will also do less errors because he uses UML to keep track of his work. Our components can be quite complex, using each other in all possible ways.
I agree that it is important to have a nearly perfect roundtrip engineering. It should not be repository based but stored in the source code.
Reverse Engineering is limited in most tools to class diagrams. But reverse engineering can be also applied to sequence and collaboration diagrams.
And if a UML tool supports requierements engineering it helps you to locate the piece of code very easily which you need to change if you have to do a software change.
I used Poseidon free edition to reverse engineer a component. It was uselesst to me. We use a framework to create components and the components are spread across different packages. It is not possible in Poseidon to import a few classes and let Poseidon import also all classes which are connected to the imported classes. Difficult to explain. With TogetherWSE the Job was much more easy to create a "after work" UML documentation. Futhermore Poseidon lacks of many features of UML.
We start to build a ERP with a framework we bought and which still is in development. The documentation is not good of the framework. I want to use a tool which helps me keep track of the very complex components we will have to program so that I don't drown.

Impact Analyzer stops in middle of a mapping

Hi,
I've had a hard time to trust the impact analyzer as I migrated objects from v.9.0.2 to v.9.2 in a DWH that I was meeting for the first time.
I now just figured a mapping where Impact Analyzer at column level just stop tracking in the middle of a flow (on aggregate operator, after a split, and before a join)
I took care to refresh dependencies index but still won't the tracker give me any objects and transform down the flow.
Has anyone already had this problem ? (haven't found any on this forum)

I managed to isolate a disturbing behavior in a very small mapping:
A date attribute from a table goes through a filter, participates in the where clause then the result of a calculation goes in the fact of a cube.
Mapping validates, generates, deploys fine (and actually has been working in production for months)
Dependencies index have been refreshed
Nevertheless, while tracking impact from that date attribute, impact analysis diagram stalls on this filter instead of leading up to the cube.
Is this a feature ? (because I'd typically would like to know what happens to which objects if I plan to modify/suppress the date attribute)

Hi,
Data flow diagram will show you the flow of the data from the Source System till the data target. It will give you the details of the Data Source, Info Source and Info Provider etc...
Functional Spec gives you the requirement of your company, I mean the fields they need for a particular reports and tables they have used etc... All you have to do is compare the fields you have in your data sources and finout which fields need to be added to the data sources or do you need to go for a new custom data source etc.. and prepare a Gap analysis Document. When You put the details of the data sources till the Info Provider I mean the TRs and URs etc.. in a document it becomes your Tech Spec.

SSMS crash when creating new database diagram

For several years I have been unable to create database diagrams from within SSMS. I have tried every combination of VS2005, VS2008, VS2012 and VS2013 with every combination of SQL2005, SQL2008, SQL2012 and SQL2014.
I have installed, uninstalled, and repaired many dozens of times. I am currently using VS2013 ultimate with SQL2014 express.
I have tried every related 'workaround' that I can find on the internet. Still the problem persists.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

From ECC we can load the data (Consider Value-1) to SAP BI and from SAP BI we can load the data to BO analysis office.
So, now if we change the data in BO Analysis office (Value-1 changed to Value-2)..
Now the data is changed in SAP BI to Value-2.
So what about the data in ECC ? Whether it is changed or not?
Please provide us a real time business Scenario..

[Searching] for UML-Lib to draw an Component diagram

Hello Folks!
I am searching for a possibility to create an uml-diagram out of an programmatical approach by using java.
Why? Cause I want to reverse engineer existing code to draw a mof-extended component diagram out of it.
Therefore there has to be an implementation (created by me) to analyse the existing code structure
and draw components at a defined location and connect them with associations.
The implementation shall also be able to write the created diagram to xmi to ensure further usage by other uml tools.
Because there are several uml-tools out there and I guess that it is very probable that there might be some tools which ensure right what I need.
Also I don't want to invent the wheel from the scratch.
There shall be also said that I want to take care about the analyse of the reverse engineered code and the enhancements of the MFO and use the api of the uml drawing tool
to get an final diagram to show the relations between the components.
Would be also good if the api is easy to use, but just an api able to solve my requirements would be enough. Might be UML2 can serve me.

The UML2 project provides no facilities for graphical notation.
However, the Papyrus project [1] does. It provides a component diagram
editor and also APIs for construction/manipulation of diagrams. There
is an "extra component" in an experimental/incubation phase that
provides interchange of diagrams according to the UML-DI specification
introduced with UML 2.5. But I don't know how ready that is for
regular use and how it relates to XMI interchange with other UML tools.
You might ask further on the Papyrus newsgroup (eclipse.papyrus).

BPMN Diagrams

Hi,
maybe I'm doing something wrong, or this is expected behaviour, but ... I'm trying to configure PD in such a way, that f.e. names for elements like events and gateways would be visible on the diagrams.
I can certainly do that by changing the display preferences of that elements in Display Preferences -> Decision if the curretn process language is set f.e. to Analysis ... but ... somehow it's not working if the current process language is set to BPMN 2.0. I would even expect, this is shown by default for all process languages ...
Examples:
current process language -> Analysis:
current process language -> BPMN 2.0
Is it a bug, is it a feature? How to enforce it for BPMN 2.0 diagrams?

you can to customize / change the BPMN xpl and change the content of the sybol f.e. enable the name attribute.
Or create your own extension with custom symbols.

Continuous data acquisition and analysis in real time

Hi all,
This is a VI for the continous acquisition of an ECG signal. As far as I understand the DAQmx Analog read VI needs to be placed inside a while loop so it can acquire the data continously, I need to perform filtering and analysis of the waveform in real time. The way I set up the block diagram means that the data stays int the while loop, and as far as I know the data will be transfered out through the data tunnels once the loop finishes executing, clearly this is not real time data processing.
The only way I can think of fixing this problem is by placing another while loop that covers the filtering the stage VIs and using some sort of shift registeing to pass the data to the second loop. My questions is whether or not this would introduce some sort of delay, and wether or not this would be considered to be real time processing. Would it be better to place all the VIs (aquicition and filtering) inside one while loop? or is this bad programming practice. Other functions that I need to perform is to save the data i na file but only when the user wants to do so.
Any advice would be appriciated.

You have two options:
A. As you mentioned, you can place code inside your current while loop to do the processing. If you are clever, you won't need to place another while loop inside your existing one (nested loops). But that totally depends on the type of processing you are doing.
B. Create a second parallel loop to do the processing. This would decouple the processes to ensure that the processing does not hinder your acquisition. See here for more info.
Your choice really depends on the processing that you plan to perform. If it is processor-intensive, it might introduce delays as you mentioned.
I would reccomend you first try to place everything in the first loop, and see if your DAQ buffer overflows (you can monitor the buffer backlog while its running). If so, then you should decouple the processes into separate loops.
Regarding whether or not "this would be considered to be real time processing" is a loaded question. Most people on these forums will say that your system will NEVER be real-time because you are using a desktop PC to perform the processing (note: I am assuming this is code running on a laptop or desktop?). It is not a deterministic system and your data is already "old" by the time it exits your DAQ buffer. But the answer to your question really depends on how you define "real-time processing". Many lay-people will define it as the processing of "live data" ... but what is "live data"?

Query Analysis Services DMV (DISCOVER_LOCKS) with OPENQUERY SQL Server 2012

Hi, I'm having trouble with a specific DMV, $SYSTEM.DISCOVER_LOCKS, while querying it using T-SQL OPENQUERY.
For example, this query will run just fine:
select * from openquery(OLAP_SERVER, 'SELECT * FROM $SYSTEM.DISCOVER_CONNECTIONS')
But when I try:
select * from openquery(OLAP_SERVER, 'SELECT * FROM $SYSTEM.DISCOVER_LOCKS')
I get the following error:
OLE DB provider "MSOLAP" for linked server "OLAP_SERVER" returned message "Internal error: An unexpected error occurred in conversion.".

Similar problems [*] were present on SQL Server 2008, but the author obviously managed to execute queries to all DMV-s. Could the linked server properties play a role in this?

Generally, the reason for the error “Cannot execute the query "XX" against OLE DB provider "XX" for linked server "XX"” can be lack of sufficient memory on server. Also possibly running into an SSAS issue which could
be bringing lots of data into cache. So in your scenario, if you server is X86 server, you can migrate it to X64 server which should help. If you server is X64 server, you can avoid this issue by increasing available memory.

According to your description, you need to create ER -Diagrams for one database that is used to create a SQL Server Analysis Services database, the problem is that there are two fact tables in your database, now you want to know do we need a dimension between
two fact tables or can we create a relationship between two fact tables, right?
Generally, we use one fact table in one cube, so in your scenario, we suggest you to combine two fact tables into one fact table instead of create a relationship between two fact tables. Here are some useful information for you reference.
