Analyzer/Express

Hallo,
I've been asked to work on Oracle Sales Analyzer/Express and I know nothing
about it. I have two Analyzer 11i CDs. The first CD has Oracle Personal Express
6.3.2 and the second Oracle Sales Analyzer 6.3.1.
Now how do I create and load my data to Express. I've been going through the
manuals and other documentation's and I've come up with the following
applications:-
1.Oracle Sales Analyzer Data Loader
2.Oracle Express Batch Manager
3.Oracle Express Relational Access Manager
Which of the above products do I need to build my database?
Lastly is it possible to load my flat/ASCII files direct to Express?
Thanks and Looking forward to your response.
Regards
KM

For loading from flat/ ASCII files you should use Data Loader.
Relational Access Manager is for running against a star schema in a relational database. RAM makes use of Batch Manager. Not sure about Data Loader.

  • Re creating Express Analyzer and Express Basic with BI Beans

I am trying to move an application from Express Family to Oracle OLAP 9i. I wanted to know how practically Express 4GL codes can be moved to OLAP DML and Express Analyzer/Express Basic be re-developed using BI Beans.
I am completely unaware of the method of doing it but have experience in Oracle DB 8i/9i for 4 yrs and OLAP activities for 1.5 yrs. So can understand the technical answering.
Kindly contribute to my query very very urgently.

    Hi,
Firstly, you can do some What-if type analysis with Discoverer. You can use a temporary table so that data stored by the user will only be available to the current session. I have used this technique successfully, but you don't get the power and flexibility of Express Analyzer.
You can look at using BI Beans with JDeveloper. It's quite straightforward but you will need a different skill set.
You could also have a look at Oracle BI Enterprise Edition (aka Siebel Analytics). Another option is to use Oracle Applications Express which is a fast and simple applications development environment.
    Hope that helps,

  • Oracle Express Analyzer

Hi, I have installed the Oracle Express Analyzer 6.3.2 in two computers and all the properties apper with the name i18n. I thought it was because my operating system(Nt Workstation 4.0) was in Spanish but I have installed OEA again and the same error appears.

Please see the new Oracle Portal integration functionality with OFA (6.3.2 patch and bundfled in 6.4).
Users will be able to add portlets to their personalized portals to display reports or graphs that were created in
Oracle Financial Analyzer. They will also be able to add portlets which contain links to documents from OFA.
There is info available on this on Metalink under OFA Docs ->Educational Materials -

  • "some in stack" filter missing in Express version of Analyzer?

    Hi all,
I just downloaded the latest Express build and its version of the analyzer doesn't like my favorite advanced filter:
(fname(".*interesting_function.*") some in stack)SS12 likes it fine
Unfortunately, the documentation on advanced filters and helper functions they can use is really sparse (I think I got "fname" and "some in stack" from a blog somewhere), so I don't know if the syntax changed, was removed, or if this is just a bug.
    Ideas?

  • Express Server 6/Express Analyzer

Just started using the above. We are having three issues which are annoying.
1.) Users are saving their briefings locally or on the server. When they restart the are finding different dimension values than when they saved them.
2.) Users are opening saved briefings and finding blank pages.
3.) Users are opening saved briefings and they are minimized and it is impossible to restore them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OSA6 still uses the data loading methods as OSA5, although the latest version apparently uses composites (I think!)... you don't mention what v.6.x you're thinking of (?)
Basically, the new OSA works the same as it used to, but you'll find all the great new features .... the best for you could be web-based, etc..

  • Unix Log Monitoring regular expression not picking up alerts

    Hi,
We are moving our unix monitoring to SCOM 2012 SP1 rollup 4.
What I have got working is indvidual alert logging of Unix Log alerts by exporting the MP and changing the <IndividualAlerts> value to true and removing the suppression xml section then reimporting the MP.
What I am trying to do is use the regular expression to peform the suppression of specific event (such as event codes).
    The expression is:
    ((?i:warning)(?!(.*1222)|(.*1001)))
ie Search the log for "warning" (not case sensitive) then check if events 1222 or 1001 exist if so return no match, if they dont exist then return true.
I use the built in test function in SCOM when creating the rule and the tests come back as expected but when I inject test lines into the unix log, no alerts get generted.
I suspect it could be the syntax not being accepted on the system (its running RedHat 6 )
I have tested this with regex tools and works.
When I try and test it on the server i get:
    [root@bld02 ~]# grep ((?i:Warning)(?!(.*1222)|(.*1001))) /var/log/messages
    -bash: !: event not found
    [root@bld02 ~]# tail /var/log/messages
Nov 13 15:07:26 bld02 root: SCOM Test Warning Event ID 1001 Round 18
Nov 13 15:07:29 bld02 root: SCOM Test Warning Event ID 1000 Round 18
Nov 13 15:07:35 bld02 root: SCOM Test Warning Event ID 1002 Round 18
So I am expecting 2 alerts to be generated.
SCOM tests to show expression working:
    Test 1 Matching
    Test 2 to exclude
Need some help with this, Thankyou in advance :)

    Hello,
Here's an example of modifying the MP to exclude particular events.  Firstly, I created a log file rule using the MP template that is fairly inclusive - matching the string Warning (with either a lower or upper case W).
I then exported the MP, and modified the rule.  I set the IndividualAlerts = true and removed the AlertSuppression element, so that every matched line will fire a unique alert.  You don't have to remove the AlertSuppression, but you should use
Individual alerts so that the exclusion logic doesn't exclude concurrent events that you actually want to match.
Implementing the exclusion logic involves the addition of a System.ExpressionFilter definition in the rule. This will use a conditional evaluation of the //row element of the data item.  Here's an example of a dataitem matching an individual row:
    <DataItem type="System.Event.Data"time="2013-11-15T10:33:14.8839662-08:00"sourceHealthServiceId="667FF365-70DD-6607-5B66-F9F95253B29F">

You can also have multiple Expressions in the ExpressionFilter joined by OR or AND operators.
Also, if you are comfortable with the MP authoring, you can just skip the step of creating the rules in the MP template and just author your own MP with the VSAE tool:

  • How do I include my Airport Express with my base Airport Extreme to extend my in house wireless network??

How do I set up wireless network extension/expansion adding Airport Express to existing Airport Extreme Network??

OK, thanks for the clear information, this really helps.
Locate the AirPort Express about half way between the AirPort Extreme and the general area that needs more wireless signal coverage. The more that you have line-of-sight between the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express, the better the performance will be.
Power off the AirPort Express for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button firmly...and keep holding for an additional 10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back into the back of the AirPort Express
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
This process is tricky.....you almost have to have 3 hands to do this.
If you have an iPad or iPhone, the setup is almost too easy to be true. In that case.....
Tap on Settings (gear icon) on the home screen
    Tap on WiFi
Under the heading of Setup a New AirPort Base Station....
    Tap on AirPort Express
The utility will analyze things for a minute, then suggest that the Express be configured to extend the AirPort Extreme network
Type in  a device name that you want to use, then tap Next
The utility will set up everything for you automatically. When you see the message of Setup Complete, tap Done and you are good to go.
If you want to use the Mac running (10.6.8) for the setup.......
Make sure that the wireless is turned on at the Mac
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Select the AirPort Express and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab under the row of icons
Enter a device name for the AirPort Express
Enter a device password for the AirPort Express
    Verify the device password
    Adjust the Time Zone setting
No other adjustments are needed here
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Set the Wireless Mode to Extend a Wireless Network
Click on the Wireless Network Name box and your AirPort Extreme network name should appear as a choice. Click to select that....or manually enter the exact name of the AirPort Extreme wireless network
Make sure that Wireless Security is set to use WPA2 Personal
Enter the wireless network password for the AirPort Extreme
Verify the wireless network password for the AirPort Extreme
Click Update at the lower right of the window and wait a full minute for the Express to restart. A green light on the Express at this point will be a very good sign that things are up and running correctly.
Your Mac will automatically select the AirPort with the best signal quality. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you may need to manually turn off the WiFi when you move the device near another AirPort, and then turn WiFi back on to get the iOS device to connect to the best signal.
Good luck, please post on your results with the method that you choose.

  • Studio Express 07/08 on Ubuntu 8.04

I'm running an AMD X2 64bit system and I just wanted to share my experience with installing and trying to use Sun Studio on Ubuntu 8.04.
I started with the tar-version of Sun Studio 12, got this version running after adding a few libs (see [http://wikis.sun.com/display/SunStudio/Sun+Studio+Linux+Platform+FAQ] ).
But I was not able to start the Thread Analyzer, and that was the tool I actually installed Sun Studio. (So I used OpenSolaris with Studio Express 05/08 in the meantime...)
After the release of Studio Express 07/08 I started a new attempt and finally - also with helpful contents of the post to Fedora in this forum - I got the whole thing running including Thread Analyzer.
    The major steps:
    1. install the latest jdk (the easiest way is to install netbeans to get all relevant files)
    2. add the libs mentioned above
    3. change the shell-script (tail --lines=+651...)
Now everything runs fine and smoothly!
    Klaus

    Hi,
    thanks for the hint.
It tried to install on Scientific Linux 5.1 (RHEL 5.1 clone) and I needed to chance the tail line as well.
However many editors don't get the encoding right and may break the binary part while saving. ( A hexeditor worked for me in the end)
    Here some enhancement suggestions:
    - The script shouldn't state it installed successfully when nothing was done (because of the tail problem).
    - The script should work :-)
    - A simple tar.bz2 is easier to install, if some thing goes wrong in the script you don't need to start reading the source.
    - Put a md5 sum on the download page, it took me a few tries to make sure I got the file downloaded ok and didn't break it while editing.
    best regards,
    Samuel

  • Install Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (64-bit) Howto

h2. Install Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (64-bit) Howto
    Version: B
    Author: Dude, 24. May 2011
The following are step by step instructions how to install Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition (Beta) under Linux Ubuntu 11.04, 64-bit.
Access to the Internet is required.
The instructions cover the following additional topics:
    - Converting Red Hat based Oracle XE installer to Ubuntu.
    - Work-around for missing /sbin/chkconfig tool.
    - Install Oracle XE into a different directory or disk volume.
    - Relocate and configure the Oracle user and default login directory.
    - Uninstall, reconfigure and perform first database backup.
    - Notes and web links.
    - Troubleshooting
h3. A) System Setup and Prerequisites
    h4. A.1. System Access
You will need terminal command line, root and system console access to perform the setup tasks.
To open a Terminal at the system console:
Menu Applications > Accessories > TerminalThe following commands will enable remote ssh login with root access:
    sudo apt-get install openssh-server
    sudo passwd root
    Verify:
    ssh root@xe_server_host_nameh4. A.2. Software Prerequisites
The following is required in order to install Oracle 11gR2 XE:
sudo apt-get install alien libaio1 unixodbcThe following is not required, but it will fix backspace and arrow keys in case you prefer using the vi-editor:
sudo apt-get install vimh4. A.3. System Swap space
Minimum swap space required is 2 GB. You can increase swap space if necessary using a swap file:
To analyze current swap space and memory configuration:
    sudo cat /proc/meminfo
To install a 1 GB swapfile named swapfile in /, for example:
    sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1024 count=1048576
    (this may take a while)
    sudo mkswap /swapfile
    sudo swapon /swapfile
    sudo cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.orig
    sudo echo '/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0' >> /etc/fstab
    Verify:
    sudo swapon -a
sudo swapon -sh4. A.4. Kernel Parameters
Oracle 11g XE requires the following additional kernel parameters:
    sudo nano /etc/sysctl.d/60-oracle.conf
    (Enter the following)
    # Oracle 11g XE kernel parameters
    fs.file-max=6815744
    net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range=9000 65000
    kernel.sem=250 32000 100 128
    kernel.shmmax=536870912
    (Save the file)
Note: kernel.shmmax = max possible value, e.g. size of physical RAM.
    Verify: sudo cat /etc/sysctl.d/60-oracle.conf
    Load new kernel parameters:
    sudo service procps start
    Verify:
    sudo sysctl -q fs.file-max
    -> fs.file-max = 6815744h4. A.5. Oracle Installation Directory
The current Oracle Installation Guide uses the same directory like in previous versions: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/server. However, the current Beta installation uses Oracle Flexible Architecture (OFA) and installs into /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe. Due to size limitations of Oracle XE it may not be necessary to store the installation to a specific directory or separate volume, but it is possible:
Install Oracle XE to separate disk volume:
From the system console menu: System > Administration > Disk Utility
Select "ext3" filesystem for Oracle compatibility and specify a Volume label, e.g. Oracle.
Notice the device name e.g. /dev/sdb
    Get the drive UUID:
    sudo blkid
    e.g. /dev/sdb: UUID="d19a2d8f-da43-4802-8bdb-0703c855e23a"
Modify /etc/fstab to automatically mount the volume at system startup:
    sudo cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.original
    sudo nano /etc/fstab
(Add the following, using determined UUID, for exmple)
    UUID=d19a2d8f-da43-4802-8bdb-0703c855e23a /u01 ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
    (Save the file)
Create the mount-point, mount the new volume and set ownership and privileges:
    sudo mkdir /u01
    sudo mount -a
    sudo chown root:root /u01
    sudo chmod 755 /u01
    Verify:
    df -h
or restart the systemYou can also install Oracle XE into a specific directory:
Create a symbolic link to store the installation into an existing directory, for instance:
    sudo mkdir /home/oracle-xe
    sudo ln -s /home/oracle-xe /u01h3. C) Oracle 11g XE Download and Installation
h4. C.1. Download and convert the Installer from Red Hat to Ubuntu
Please see section E.3. to download the Oracle 11gR2 XE installer.
Select the version listed for Linux x64.
    sudo unzip linux.x64_11gR2_OracleXE.zip
    sudo alien --to-deb --scripts oracle-xe-11.2.0-0.5.x86_64.rpm
(This may take a while)h4. C.2. Create a special chkconfig script
The Red Hat based installer of Oracle XE 11gR2 beta relies on +/sbin/chkconfig+, which is not used in Ubuntu. The chkconfig package available for the current version of Ubuntu produces errors and my not be safe to use. Below is a simple trick to get around the problem and install Oracle XE successfully:
    Create /sbin/chconfig:
    sudo nano /sbin/chkconfig
    (Cut and paste the following)
    #!/bin/bash
    # Oracle 11gR2 XE installer chkconfig hack for Debian by Dude
    file=/etc/init.d/oracle-xe
    if [[ ! `tail -n1 $file | grep INIT` ]]; then
       echo >> $file
       echo '### BEGIN INIT INFO' >> $file
       echo '# Provides:             OracleXE' >> $file
       echo '# Required-Start:       $remote_fs $syslog' >> $file
       echo '# Required-Stop:        $remote_fs $syslog' >> $file
       echo '# Default-Start:        2 3 4 5' >> $file
       echo '# Default-Stop:         0 1 6' >> $file
       echo '# Short-Description:    Oracle 11g Express Edition' >> $file
       echo '### END INIT INFO' >> $file
    fi
    update-rc.d oracle-xe defaults 80 01
    (Save the file)
    Set appropriate execute privileges:
    chmod 755 /sbin/chkconfig
Note: You should remove the /sbin/chkconfig file after successful installation of Oracle XE.
h4. C.3. Install and configure Oracle XE
    sudo dpkg --install ./oracle-xe_11.2.0-1.5_amd64.deb
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure
    (This will take a while)
Remove the /sbin/chkconfig script, which is no longer needed.
sudo rm /sbin/chkconfigh4. C.4. Relocate and Configure the Oracle user login
The Oracle XE installer specifies /u01/app/oracle as the login directory for the Oracle user. Although not really necessary, the following will relocate the Oracle user $HOME to a standard location and create standard /etc/skel login files:
    Exit all Oracle user sessions:
    sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe stop
    sudo kill -9 `ps -ef | grep oracle | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}'`
    sudo userdel oracle
    sudo useradd -s /bin/bash -G dba -g dba -m oracle
    sudo passwd oracle
    Verify:
    sudo id oracle
    -> uid=1001(oracle) gid=1001(dba) groups=1001(dba)h4. C.5. Setup Oracle environment variables
In order to use sqlplus and other tools, the Oracle account requires certain environment variables. The following will set these variables automatically at every interactive Oracle login:
    sudo echo '. /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/oracle_env.sh' >> /home/oracle/.bashrch4. C.6. Oracle sudo root access
It is not essential to allow the Oracle user to use sudo, but it is convenient:
    usermod -G admin oracle
    Verify:
    id oracle
    -> uid=1001(oracle) gid=1001(dba) groups=1001(dba),120(admin)
    sudo su -
    -> Enter Oracle account passwordh4. C.7. Oracle 11g XE Post-installation
After you install Oracle Database XE, its graphical user interface is only available from the local server, but not remotely.
The following will correct the problem if necessary:
Login as user Oracle or use:
    su - oracle
    sqlplus / as sysdba
At the SQL prompt, enter the following command:
    EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETLISTENERLOCALACCESS(FALSE);
exith3. D) Unintstall, Reconfigure and Troubleshooting

Edited by: Dude on May 25, Version B: various corrections. chkconfig package (A.2.) not required.

even though I am admin user.Admin user is a MS Windows term, that does not apply to Linux or Unix in the same fashion.
The configuration script tells you "You must be root user to run the configure script. Login as root user and
    then run the configure script."
This is most likely correct because your account is not root and does not have UID 0. What you can do is to login as root e.g. sudo su -, as the message suggest, or use "sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure", provided your account is defined in the /etc/sudoers file to perform root/admin actions.
Btw, do not modify /etc/passwd and /etc/group to give you admin privileges or try to create a another root account under a different name. That's not the way it works and usually leads to nasty problems.

I have a linksys WRT54G router that we use as a base. I want to use Airplay using Airport Express and hook up my stereo to it. How can i set up my Airport express without a PC/laptop? I just downloaded Airport utility on my iphone and ipad, will that work? And one more thing about the setup, the linksys router shich acts as a base is in a different room as the airport express which i wanted to use for airplay. So I'm hoping to hook up the Airport express via wireless signal. If i can set it up, can someone pls help me out by posting detailed instructions. Thanks so much!

The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network".

  • How do I set up multiple Airport Expresses to connect over ethernet for Airtunes only?

I am trying to set up an Airtunes network using an Airport Extreme and three Airport Expresses connected together via ethernet (CAT5 cable). At each Airport Express there will be a speaker setup. I don't need/want internet connectivity on the network, but not sure if it is required for setup or not. I have made this work over wifi, using the Expresses to extend the network, but struggling to get this to work over ethernet.
I would be verry grateful of a step-by-step method to setting this up! I am also looking to set up 6 airport expresses to do the same thing in another location.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the info.
I assume that the AirPort Extreme is setup and working at this point.
Work with one AirPort Express at a time to get them all configured, and then you can locate them where they will be needed.
AirPort Setup will configure the Express devices to "extend a wireless network" using Ethernet, so they will be broadcasting the same wireless signal as the AirPort Extreme and provide more wireless signal coverage as well.
I have yet to meet the first person who thought that they had too much wireless coverage, but you would have the option to turn off the wireless on the Express if you wanted. Most users like having extended wireless for their devices.
Temporarily, move an Express close to the AirPort Extreme
Connect a spare Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Extreme to the WAN "O" port on the Express
Power up the Express for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Express for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Click the Airport icon at the top of the Mac's screen and wait a few seconds for AirPort Express to appear just under the listing of New AirPort Base Station
Click directly on the AirPort Express
AirPort Setup will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network, then announce that the Express will be configured to extend the AirPort Extreme network.
Enter a device name that you want to use....example.....Express1.....and click Next
AirPort Setup will configure everything for you. Notice that the message will say that the Express is being set up to extend using Ethernet. When you see the message of setup complete, click Done.
Now you can move the Express to the remote location where it is needed, hook it up to the Ethernet connection there, power up the Express and set up AirTunes on the device.
AirTunes is enabled by default, to other than make the speaker connection, you won't have much to do on that.
Set up other Express devices the same way, except assign a different name to each device....example....Express2, Express3, etc.....to keep things organized.

  • How can i measure only the valley voltages of a sine wave in labview 7 express evaluation version?

I am trying to convince my company to send me to purchase labview and send me to classes for labview.
I am trying to put together a small demo for them using the Labview 7 express evaluatin copy that I recieved.
What I am wondering is how can filter out everything besides the valley peaks on a sine wave.
What I am trying to accomplish, is create an example showing that Labview can sameple from a sine wave, read about 5 "valley" points of the wave, evaluate these based on a value that i can define, and signal pass or fail.
attached is a picture of what i have so far

    Hi,
I built a VI using LabVIEW 7.0 that detects the valleys in a sine wave. It uses the 'Peak detector' VI that I believe is available in the evaluation version.
(Functions palette >> All Functions >> Analyze >> Signal Processing >> Time Domain >> Peak Detector)
I have attached a VI as well as the screen shots its front panel and block diagram.
    I hope this helps.
    Sincerely,
    Feroz
