Anchor point used in drawImage() of  Graphics class

Hi all,
This is sourab.I need to know about the concepts of anchor point used in drawImage() of Graphics class. We all know in drawImage() method has four co-ordinates.First one is for Image name, second one is for x coordinate ,third one is for y coordinate and the final one is for anchor point.Actually anchor point will place the image in the corresponding position. Now my doubt is what is the purpose of x,y coordinates.
Also i want some links to learn about this anchor point concepts. Can anyone provide solution to me ASAP.
Regards/Thanks,
Sourab

We all know in drawImage() method has four co-ordinates. [coördinates?]http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/awt/Graphics.html
Or 5 or 6 or 7 or 10 or 11. And if you include Graphics2D:
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/awt/Graphics2D.html
There is second one taking 4 arguments, and one taking 3.

  • Moving anchor point using spacebar while drawing with pen?

If you're an Illustrator user, you may be familiar with the ability to move the active anchor point of the line, by holding "Spacebar" and dragging during the drawing process. This is a useful timesaver for creating complex paths. While Photoshop CS6 has introduced some useful new path-editing features, this is one that is still missing. I cant' figure out why Adobe does not make the pen tool identical between the two programs. This is an old feature in Illustrator. Don't the Adobe programmers talk to each other.
I'm just hoping/wishing someone could tell me the feature can be accessed in some other way, withing Photoshop.

Thanks, conroy. Yes, I'm familiar with that feature, but it requires clicking on the anchor point and dragging. The feature missing in PSD is the ability to move an associated anchor point while "holding" an associated direction point. This feature is activated, in AI, by holding down the Spacebar. It's a real timesaver and I miss it in PSD.

  • Put convert anchor points options in Keyboard Shortcuts

I have two objects with the exact same border path and multiple types of points within the border. I believe that the only way to covert two corner points (at the exact same location) into smooth points (and thus maintain the exact same path for both) is to use the Control panel method (paste in from Help, below). This requires going clear up to the Control panel. I wish that both of these Control panel options where available under Keystroke Shortcuts. This would allow much faster operation that the long trip for my mouse or pen on my large Wacom board.
    -------> From AI Help file:
Convert one or more anchor points using the Control panel
To use the anchor point conversion options in the Control panel, only relevant anchor points, not the entire object, should be selected. If you select multiple objects, one of the objects must be only partially selected. When entire objects are selected, the Control panel options change to those that affect the entire object.
To convert one or more corner points to smooth points, select the points and then click the Convert Selected Anchor Points To Smooth button in the Control panel.
To convert one or more smooth points to corner points, select the points and then click the Convert Selected Anchor Points To Corner button in the Control panel.

    The buttons are not recordable.
    > I believe that the only way to covert two corner points (at the exact same location) into smooth points (and thus maintain the exact same path for both)
Unless I'm misunderstanding your description, Illustator's new but lame convert buttons do not really meet your criteria anyway. The Convert to Smooth button does not merge two coincident corner points on the same path into a single smooth point. You still have two points.
If the two coincident points are actually endpoints of two separate paths, CtrlShiftAlt-J will average their positions, join and merge them.
The convert point type commands should be located in proper contextual cursor menus in AI. But AI does not really have proper contextual cursor menus.
AI's confused interface has pretty much run out of practical keyboard shortcuts.
Illustrator's new convert anchorpoint buttons are very lame compared to the features that have long existed in Adobe's other drawing program, FreeHand. The convert to corner button should not retract existing handles. The convert to smooth should not always extend handles. Provision should be made for individual retraction/auto-extension when converting.
We are not seeing Adobe leverage the rights to better functionality it gained when it acquired Macromedia. We are only seeing cheap, piecemeal imitations and lip-service toward the still-superior functionality in the acquired program.

  • Have anchor points snap to grid changed?

My anchor points used to snap to the grid when using the pen tool on a 1px before in Adobe Illustrator CC 2014. Has this changed for this version?
If not, does anyone know how I would be able to enable this feature again? I have all my snap to grid settings etc. on.

THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING (and I'm not the type to use all caps all over the place).  Here are the repro steps (in case that were helpful):
    Illustrator CS6
    Turn on snap to grid.
    Create a circle.
Drag out each of the handles closer to the corners of the circle's space.
Notice that the handles snap to the intersection points on the grid.
    Illustrator CC (18.0.0)
    Turn on snap to grid.
Create a circle (move it around to double-ensure that snap to grid is functioning properly for the shape).
Drag out each of the handles.
Notice that there is no way to ensure that the handles move in the exact same amount all the way around the circle. They do not snap.
Try the scale tool. Select a point and hit ‘s’, then drag out a handle. Notice that it still doesn’t snap to point.
This sort of thing is suicide for Illustrator. It’s the one program that should let you make whatever vector shape you want without having to resort to crazy workarounds. How can we make awesome things like this without the kind of control we used to have in Illustrator?
BTW, there's another thread on this topic too:
Restore snap-to-grid behaviour for path handles

  • Objects anchor points.

Is there a way to view the number of anchor points used in a complex object? eg on an object created with live trace.
If not directly built into Illustrator CS5 is there a Plugin?

  • Centre align an anchor point

    Hi there!
I've been following a tutorial (found at
    http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx2004/xml_flash_photogallery.htm)
and I'm having difficulties centre aligning the anchor point inside
the empty movie that loads the images from the xml document. At
present the anchor point is located at the top left corner of the
image so the images will not be positioned correncly if they are
different dimensions. Is it possible to centre align the anchor
point using Actionscript so images will be displayed in the centre
of the image window? Can anyone help? I've attached the code that
exists in the first frame in the timeline which controls the movie.
The instance name for this MC is "picture". Thanks in
    advance

the images are loaded by your swf. during runtime their
dimensions are available after loading is complete. (if you use
loadMovie, you'll need preloader code to access each image's target
movieclip's _width and _height which will be equal to your image's
    width and height.)
once you know an image's dimensions you can center it with
respect to whatever you want. eg, your image window.

  • Move Graphic to Flash with Anchor Points

I created a graphic in Illustrator CS5 that I want to use in Flash CS5.  How do I move the graphic to Flash and preserve the anchor points of the graphic so I can use them in Flash?  I have used the Import to Library function in Flash but once the graphic has been imported the anchor points are gone.
Here is some background in case I'm trying to do it incorrectly.  I have a speech bubble I created in Illustrator.  Now I need to use this speech bubble in a Flash animation but the bubble will need to resize according to how much text will be placed in it.  I can't just change the width and height of the bubble because that will make certain parts like the edges to big.  I need the bubble to "grow".  In Illustrator I can do this by select certain anchor points and moving them without effecting other points.  But in Flash I'm not sure how to accomplish this.

Thanks for the reply.  I just did some reading on 9 Slice and that is actually what I need.  Unfortunately it is not working correctly in Flash CS5 with my Illustrator graphic.
I setup 9 Slice in Illustrator and it works great in Illustrator.  I can resize my graphic and only the parts I want resize.  Then I saved the Illustrator file and tried importing it into Flash CS5 and I see the 9 Slice lines but when I resize the graphic 9 Slice is not working.  I tried creating a simple box in Flash with curved edges and 9 Slice worked with it.
Is there something special I need to do to get 9 Slice to work on my imported Illustrator graphic?  I tried creating new 9 Slice lines in Flash as well but that never worked either.  Am I missing something?

  • How can I use existing anchor point as a new one?

    Can anyone help?
I'm tracing over a drawing, and I'm trying to use an existing anchor point as an anchor point for another curve. So, from c, I want to click and drag on anchor point b to make a new curve. If I click where b is, then I just delete b. Can I make b my initial anchor point so that I can use it to complete my tooth? When I get to the next teeth Ill have to do the same thing. Has anyone any ideas?

    > Each tooth should be a closed path.
    Why?
    > If I click where b is, then I just delete b.
Ugh, turn off Auto Add/Delete Anchor Point and watch your rage levels instantly decrease. You can then put your final point anywhere you want, including smack dab on top of B.

  • New feature: pressing alt while using the anchor point tool

    Hello,
New feature doesn't work at my side ==> pressing alt while using the anchor point tool would allow to pair the handles again while dragging a handle. But if i press alt or if i do not press it, it does not change the working of my anchor point tool or handles. When i press alt i see the little sign apearing next to my cursor and that's all. Someone an idea what could be the problem?
    Thank you for your help.
    Tommy

thank you!!!!! I clicked and dragged before..didn't understood apparently the function of the new feature for 100% ;-)

  • Flash Player use to execute the main class entry point before rendering. Now it does not

Adobe Flash Player use to execute the main class entry point before rendering the first frame. Now using the latest browsers and Flash Player 11.8 (11.8.800.94, or 11.8.800.97 for Chrome).
With one of our swf apps, there are visual display objects on the first frame of the timeline. When the main class constructor is executed, those display objects are set to visible = false. So previously those display objects were never displayed because the first frame did not render until after the main class code was ran.
Now when we browse to the our website, we find that those display objects are visible for a split moment of time (such as a quarter of a second).
It appears that this may be a bug. We are wondering this could be new behavior based on loading/unloading the swf to optimize CPU usage and that Flash Player is taking a snapshot of the internal state of the first frame and displaying the cached snapshot before it actually loads.
So...Chris (or other Adobe representative), is Flash Player supposed to be rendering the display before any code executes it runs the main class?

Not that I'm aware of.  If this is something that just started with 11.8, then we could be running into some sort of bug injection.  Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  When adding the bug, please include sample code, application or URL so we can quickly test this out internally.  If you'd like to keep this private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]).
Once added, please post back with the bug number and we'll investigate from there.

  • Moving Anchor Points in PSE 6.0 after lasso was used

As a former user of Microsoft Image Composer, I am trying to make a smooth transition for my photo croppers to Photoshop Elements 6.0. Here is the problem that I cannot solve:
In Image composer, I could use a Polygon tool to create a shape around a product (pants, for example). After making the shape, I could choose to "Move Points", which allowed me to adjust the points and refine the shap (lengthen one leg, adjust the width, etc). After the points were where I wanted, I would "Cut Out" the image. The end result is that some of the products (pants) are cut off to create the shape I want.
In PSE I have used the lasso tool to create the shape, but am unable to move the points. It is not reasonable to start over- some shapes are so complex, that it would take a lot of time to re-do.
How can I move anchor points? Should I use a tool other than lasso? Thanks for helping me make the switch to PSE!

For the marching ants, it sounds like you are using the quick selection tool. You want the regular selection brush, which only works exactly under the brush and doesn't do any thinking on its own.
The options bar settings for the Magnetic Lasso control it:
Width: how far away to look for edges
Edge Contrast: How much difference to look for between the edge and the background: A higher number = sharper contrast, lower number= softer contrast
Frequency: How often to put down those anchor points

  • How can I use anchor points in Photoshop CC?

I'm using a trial version of Photoshop CC and I am trying to put a formed border around some text. I was able to do this with my other Photoshop program with manipulating anchor points. The CC version is layed out differently. How can I use and form anchor points?

Hi Sheryl.  I must admit, I looked at your post earlier, and it was too obscure to get a handle on (did I really just say 'handle'? ).  But I think I can see where you are coming from now.  Yes, the manipulation of paths has changed a wee bit with CC, but it is pretty intuitive, and a lot of it will still work fine using your old methodology.
Take a look at some of these Julieanne Kost blog posts
    https://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/tag/path-selection-tool
I find the most reliable way to make individual point selection work first time every time, is to select the Direct Selection tool > and with the shape/path layer selected, drag a tiny marquee around your target point.  You can then click drag that point to edit the shape or path.
But there are so many ways to do the sort of thing you are talking about.  If you make a copy of the text layer, and make the lower of the two in the layer stack bigger (Free Transform with Alt Shift) you can then turn that lower text layer into a path or shape to manipulate it.
Or you could add a broad stroke around the text on a new layer.  Ctrl click the stroke to load it as a selection, and turn the selection into a path using the icon at the bottom of the Paths panel, and then manipulate its points.  If you want to make the stroke a solid filled layer, then I don't know of a better way than dragging a marquee around the inner points wth Direct Selection tool, and hitting Delete.
It's an interesting subject, so please keep asking about anything you are not sure about.

  • I am getting this message: "Please use the add anchor point tool on a segment of a path" -- need help!

    Hello guys,
I am new to illustrator and am trying to trace one of my scanned sketches on Illustrator CC. I have been watching tutorials on Youtube.com and have followed every step, but when it comes to using the pen tool, I receive a pop up message reading, "Please use the add anchor point tool on a segment of a path." I researched Adobe forums and came across another discussion with someone who had the same problem. After making the changes that people suggested to the other person's discussion, the problem still occurred with me. I am still getting the same message even after making sure I have deselected Snap to grid, etc. Can anyone please help me out!?

It sounds to me like you're using the Add Anchor Point tool instead of the Pen tool. If you are trying to trace a scanned sketch, you'll be creating content from scratch in which case you want to use the Pen tool. The Add Anchor Point tool can only modify an existing path, it can't create one. Switch to your Pen tool and see if that helps.
