  • Open Source Flash Tools

    Hi All,
    Just wondering if anybody can recommend any Open Source Flash generation tools on the same line as Adobe's Flash Application.
    Want to incorporate into ApEx apps.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Here is the Flex code that displays a grid and a text box.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns="*" layout="absolute" styleName="plain" creationComplete="userRequest.send()">
       <bridge:FABridge bridgeName="flash" id="flash" xmlns:bridge="bridge.*" />
       <mx:HTTPService id="userRequest" url="dc_htmldb.EmployeeXml" useProxy="false" method="GET">
          <mx:request xmlns="">
          </mx:request>
       </mx:HTTPService>
       <mx:DataGrid id="dgUserRequest" x="0" y="30" rowCount="15" dataProvider="{userRequest.lastResult.Rowset.Row}">
          <mx:columns>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="First" dataField="FIRST_NAME"/>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Last" dataField="LAST_NAME"/>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="E-Mail" dataField="EMAIL" width="80"/>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Phone" dataField="PHONE_NUMBER" width="125"/>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Hire Dt" dataField="HIRE_DATE" width="75"/>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Job" dataField="JOB_ID" width="75"/>
             <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Salary" dataField="SALARY" width="55"/>
          </mx:columns>
       </mx:DataGrid>
       <mx:HBox x="5" y="0">
          <mx:Label text="Selected ID"/>
          <mx:TextInput id="selectedempid" text="{dgUserRequest.selectedItem.EMPLOYEE_ID}" width="40"/>
       </mx:HBox>
    </mx:Application>It gets it data by calling a stored procedure (EmployeeXml) via HTTP.
    That procedure just runs a query and returns it as XML.
    To show it on the page, you just embed the Flash player in a HTML region.
    To exchange data between Flex and other HTML elements requires some javascript:

  • .swf file created from Indesign won't open in Flash Player

    I have created an interactive flash presentation using Indesign. For several weeks I have made edits, exported a .swf file and opened the file by double-clicking it to open in Flash Player. From there I was able to export an .exe file with an embedded projector for users that may not have flash player. The file does not open and asks whcih progrma I would like to open with when clicking the file.
    I am running Windows XP, Adobe CS5
    Thanks for your help.

    That sounds more Windows file association issue.Have you tried to Right-Click your SWF and choosed Open With (or something like that), you can choose Flash Player from that list if it´s installed.

  • Force linked .swf to open in flash player

    i have two files i'd like to play sequentially. both have a
    flash preloader appended to them. the captivate file is published,
    then externally linked to a flash 8 file with a preloader in it.
    the first movie opens in flash player, but when it jumps to the
    second (linked) file, it opens in firefox. the files are linked
    using captivate 2's option in the export preferences area. i've
    looked in the xp file type pane, and flash player 8 is specified as
    the default player for .swf files.
    thanks,
    john

    hopefully this isn't a total waste of everyone's time, i seem
    to have found the answer! though you can specify which file types
    are opened by which applications in xp, firefox seems to override
    those settings. if you change the file type preferences in firefox
    (in this case you need to switch flash movies to open with flash
    player and not the shockwave plugin), it will finally open in flash
    player.

  • Why am i getting Adobe Flash Player script crashes?

    ello,
    I've noticed in the last week or two my scripts for Adobe Flash Player completely freezing up. After a full five minutes of freezing, I get a general warning that:
    "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"
    "become" unresponsive? lol Anyway, even after I click "yet", it still takes a least another five minutes before it unfreezes. Now, I used to problems with Jave scripts, but those wouldn't take tens-of-minutes to abort. I've literally had Adobe Flash Player scripts freezes for 15 minutes at a time leaving my browser completely unresponsive.
    I'm having this problem particularly when I visit the site Wonkette.

    Come on. No one else is having this problem?

    It all happened after updating my plug-ins. I've tried messing around with them, disabling them all. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player and making sure I had the right version for my old-ish operating system (Windows XP). That seemed to work for one session, but it's back to freezing after logging into places like mail.com.
    Is anyone else having this problem? Is this a plug-in issue? How can be be remedied?

    Unfortunately, this is not my problem. I can video videos on sites like Youtube, just find. The scripts freeze up on random pages. Basically, anywhere with ads that use Adobe Flash Player. It didn't use to do this.

  • How do I get SWF files to open in Flash Player?

    Currently they have no program associated to the extension. When I try 'Open With...' I cannot find Flash Player at all and opening in IE causes a loop between opening an IE window and the 'Open File, Save File, ect' window.
    I'm currently running Windows 7, Mozilla Firefox, and have no other isses with things playing on my PC.

    You can either try associating .swf files with a browser so they open the SWF directly, or else you can download the standalone (aka "projector") flash player and associate the files with that.
    Here's where you can download the standalone player:

  • Some video's won't open in flash player

    I have windows XP service pack 3 and IE 8. On some web sites, some but not all of the video's won't open.I get no error code or anything, but there is what looks like a capital "T" in the upper left corner of the box where the video should be. There is what looks like a red dot in the left angle of the "T". I have the most current flash player, 10.1.102.64 as confirmed when I go to Adobe ..../about. The same video will play if I use Chrome, and the strange thing is that the same video WILL play if I open IE8 using my wife's user account. I have concluded that it must be one of my IE8 setting, but I have compared setting on the two accounts and I can't find the problem. Any suggestions?

    Which file - the .swf or the .exe file?
    If the .swf, you need to create a file association to the projector.

  • Open Source patching or scripting patch installs

    Has anyone implemented Scripts to Automate patching of a Solaris Server. I am interested in Open Source solution rather than the one provided by SUN. I am mostly interested in Solaris 8/9/10 on SPARC.
    I have seen a few scripts in perl, want to know if anyone else has seen more and/or implementing any such solution in Production?
    Please let me know. Thanks
    -GGR

    I dont think somebody has done what you want. But if I has to do it, I think I'll use 2 servers. One server with the Webservices and the access to the COM in a windows server, and the second one, the apache and php.
    That way, you can use the webservices as in any web application, and dont worry about the COM.
    good luck!

  • Adobe Flash Player Script Error: Script Running Slowly

    Hello everyone. I have a problem with my laptop when going on to certain websites. When I go one of the websites with a script error, I get a message that a script error is causing my Adobe Flash Player to run slowly, and that if it continues to run the computer may become unresponsive, and it asks if I want to stop running the script or something. I don't know what to do with it. Help!
    I am running a Windows 7 laptop with a Internet Explorer 8 (I think) and Google Chrome (Both IE and Google Chrome have the same problem), and also Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX.
    [ email signature removed - see http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3731 ]

    I would suggest you update your flash.  You are running flash 10 and the latest is flash 15.
    Download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash for IE.

  • .swf working when opened with Flash Player but not when opened with Mozilla

    I'm having a problem with the .swf I created.
    It works fine when I open it on my computer with Flash Player.
    When I attempt to open it with Mozilla:
    - it wont play or allow a button to navigate to Frame 3.
    -it will allow another button to fullscreen the .swf and bring it back to small screen.
    This also happens when Flash Professional creates the HTML. (Autoplay = true)
    Is there some restrictions on AS3 when used on a webpage that don't apply when Flash Player is used independently?
    I've been trawling through the forums without any luck
    Any help would be very much appreciated
    Thanks

    Hey,
    Yes there are some links but when using the right click menu to play the swf the links are there and working.
    Thanks Ned for your intrest and attempt to help! It gave me courage to dig deeper.
    After a rest and feeling less presure - I discovered the problem.
    When in webpages you can't automatically Fullscreen - its fine if on a button though. I had to take out the line below
    stage.displayState=StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    Cheers

  • SWF file doesn't open with Flash Player

    Hi,
    1) I have a swf file on my desktop. Where in my computer should i go to launch Flash Player in order to play the swf file? When I double click on th swf file, it launched Adobe Flash, rather than Flash Player.
    2) Furthermore, I have just uninstall Flash Player and re-install the latest version, as the safari browser confirms that I have the ver 14 of Flash Player installed. When I check my Adobe Flash folder, it still has the old Flash Player. How do I get this updated?
    3) How can I get the recently installed Flash Player app into my applications folder?
    Thank you

    Thank you for pointing out that I need to download the projector. How do I ensure that every time I double click on a swf file, it does not launch Adobe Flash Professional, but instead, it launches Flash Player ver 14. Do I have to place the Flash Player Projector in the library or applications, where exactly should it be placed.
    Next, when I launched Flash Player ver 14, to open the swf file, I clicked on a button that is linked to a website - I get a message:
    "Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation,... To let this application  communicate with the Internet, click on settings" I clicked on settings and get the attached panel, which does not make sense to me. And I cannot launch a website by clicking on the button contained in the swf file. Please advise.
    I am using a Mac Book Pro, OSX 10.9.3

  • How to get flash video to open in flash player

    I would like to produce a link in Dreamweaver that points to
    a flash video that would open in the actual flash player interface
    window. Every time I try to link the swf file in Dreamweaver, it
    wants to open the flash video in a new internet explorer window
    instead of just opening it in the flash player interface. When this
    happens, it enlarges the video to fit the explorer window. How do I
    get my desired result?

    perhaps a character that isn't all that special to you is
    quite special to dw? a surefire way to tell would be for you to
    post it here....

  • Open Old Flash Player

    Want to open and rework file in Flash Player version
    5.0.30.0. My current Flash MX2004 version 7.0.1 does not recognize
    the older version. Is there any way I can open to older file to
    work on it?

    Have you tried your Mac user account Admin password?
    You could try completely removing Flash and starting over using the uninstaller which should be in your Utilities folder and called 'Adobe Flash Player Install Manager'. That should get rid of all traces of Flash, then redownload and run the installer from: http://www.get.adobe.com/flashplayer
