DTD for data-management-config.xml
Is the data-management-config.xml file structure somewhere
explained? I wonder why isn't this file (as well as all the other
FDS config files) validated against a DTD or XML schema?
I'm trying to configure multiple parameters for a destination
server method, without success so far. The following attempts have
all failed
<server>
<fill-method>
<name>getFolderContent</name>
<params>java.lang.String;boolean</params>
</fill-method>
</server>
<server>
<fill-method>
<name>getFolderContent</name>
<params>java.lang.String, boolean</params>
</fill-method>
</server>
<server>
<fill-method>
<name>getFolderContent</name>
<params>java.lang.String</params>
<params>boolean</params>
</fill-method>
</server>
I want to pass in a Java String and a boolean (the
primitive). What's the correct syntax? Thank you.Thanks a bunch, that was it. Any ideas where I can find DTSs
or Schemas for the FDS config files?

XML Used for data transfer over web
Hello, I'm currently running oracle forms on the web. Will XML allow me to create a realtime interface that will allow me to load multiple records into my oracle database without going through an form?
Sure.
Check out our XSQL Servlet at:
http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/xsql_servlet
It comes with features, documentation, and demos to easily work with SQL, XML, and XSLT, including the ability to help in posting HTML Forms and posted XML documents into the database.
You can try out the demos online at:
http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/demo/demo1.htm
In particular the "XML Insert Request Demo" shows a simple example of what can be done with posted XML going into your database. -
How to import the data to Data manager
Hi All,
I am new to MDM and need your help in handling the following issue
In our setup we are sending the Customer master data from R/3->XI->MDM (R/3-> XI IDOCs, XI->MDM XML files).
with the help of extraction job in R/3 IDOCs r generated and XI has onverted these IDOCs to XML Files and created at MDM Server. Now my Question is how to import the Data from these XML files to Data Manager !!!!
Note : Import Map settings are done already in the system.
Can any one help me the steps requeired to get this data to Data manager .
and am I need to do some activity in MDM to import the data to Data manager each and every time or is there any automatic way of doing this .
Please guide me.
Thanks in advance!Hi MDM User,
Generally there are 2 cases while importing the data,
1) Initial Load
2) Delta Load
Initial Load means importing the data into MDM at first time.This is usually done by manual importing
without using import server.
Delta Load means importing the data into MDM when we have changes to existing data or added new data
to existing data.This is usually done by automatically using import server.
To manually import the data,just create a remote system and port in console and login into import manager
using remote system.Create ,save the map and execute the map.There is no other configurations needed.
To automatically import the data without manual intervention,we go for import server.
To let this happen we need to set some configuarations in mdis.ini file of import server.
Give the repository name,username and password which are set in console for that repository and also
give schedule time based on which import server picks the file from ready folder.
Go to the import manager , change the map and import action depends on your requriment and save that
map.
and also you need to set port type as inbound and automatic and select the map which you saved earlier in
MDM console.
As soon as we start the import server, it picks the file from ready folder of MDM server based on
configurations which we set in mdis.ini file and executes the map.
Here i am giving complete path of ready folder.
SAP MDM 5.5> Server>Distributions>bp1bocap080.bp.co_MSQL> BP3_PoC_Customer> Inbound>Siebel> SIEBEL_OB_CUS_SIEBELCUS01> Ready)
This path has to be given in target directory of receiver communication channel of XI so that it puts XML
file in the above path.
For better understanding,go through below blogs.

/people/balas.gorla/blog/2006/09/27/mdm-xi-r3-integration
Hope it helps

Data Management Videos & Exercises
Does anyone else think the pace of the videos is too fast for Data Management? Exercises 3 and 4 feel very rushed and I'm having to pause the videos to keep up with the instructor. Also, the query totals differ from the training environment and videos. I'd like for the instructor to slow down and provide more context when he sets up workflows and explains his slides.
Anyone else agree/disagree?Let's meet from 6 - 7 PM EST, 5 - 6 CST, 3 - 4 EST to go over the Data Management screens to compute aggregates.

BPC 7.5 - Data Manager filling tablespace
We are installing a brand new BPC for NW 7.5 SP4 system. When trying to import data from .txt files via the data manager, the system is generating /1CPMB/DM0000xxx (example /1CPMB/DM0000001) tables. The problem is these tables are being generated with a size category of 9. This defaults to a next extent of 320MB. This is on an Oracle-based backend BI 701 system with Dictionary-based tablespace.
If you only upload 1-2 records, then it falls under the initial extent of 16KB. But if you upload enough records to get past that initial extent, then it will blow up and take up 320MB of space, most of it being wasted.
We've engaged SAP Support and thus far they have not been able to provide a means to have these tables generated with a lower size category, such as 1, or any other work-around to this issue.
Initially, we were trying to load 60-100 smaller datafiles. But seeing how BPC is dealing with them by wasting so much space, we are looking at combining the number of files to a smaller number. If not, you could theoretically try to take up 32TB of space.
We can reorg the tables after the fact, but that doesn't help the newly generated tables every time we upload a file using data manager.
1) Login to BPC for Netweaver website
2) Go into the excel portion
3) log into the applicationset
4) click on edata at the top of the screen
5) select upload data file
6) enter source and target locations. the file is a .txt file (40KB in
size)
7) click OK to start the
upload
*error*
Any thoughts?Further digging, the tables are hardcoded by SAP code to default to a size category of 9...

What is data management ( Not master data)
hi,
my new project client is looking for data management and variant configuration . i know variant configuration . but they have clearly specified that they are not going to use master data . if any one have any idea please let me know.
rewards for useful answers
thanks
madhanData Roaming applies when roaming internationally/out of the country on an AT&T partner network.
Roaming internationally must be requested by you and approved by AT&T before doing so. This is beneficial to those who want to minimize their data roaming charges when out of the country since this is billed in full for all data downloaded and uploaded when checking and downloading email and web browsing, etc. There are no such charges when connected via Wi-Fi when roaming internationally - only when using the cellular network for data access.
Also for those who are in the country but live near the border of Mexico or Canada where cellular towers located across the border can be picked up without your knowledge.
It is off by default and you should leave it off unless you travel outside the country and need internet access other than via Wi-Fi.
Scratch the AT&T and U.S. reference - I now see you are located in Scotland but the same applies when what is considered roaming internationally on an O2 partner network.

In Version 7.5M I found some new steps when creating a BPF step for Data Manager.
- Data Manager for PackageExecute
- Run specific package for PackageExecute
- Run user package for PackageExecute
can anyone explain me these new steps?
Is it possible to link the data region from BPF to the Element selection in a specific package?
Exmple: in BPF i select a category, time and entity.
When starting a package, i would like to have these selections filled automaticly in the associated fields of the package.
Regards
AchimHi,
1) We use Import manager to import the spreadsheet data.You can map the fields in Import Manager.
Once the data is imported ,you can see the data in Data manager.You can edit ,update certain records,validate them in data manager.
2)Person resposible for importing data must have Import manager and Data manager installed on PC.You can even automate the import process.Apart from this if you have any other role like approver then you can install Data manager only for them to approve via data manager
End Users can search using SRM .they dont need the clients intalled on their system.

Errors defining the destination for SQLAssembler inside data-management-config.xml
Hello,
I am following the LCDS ES sample at
http://localhost:8700/samples/#sqlassembler
for defining a destination inside data-management-config.xml,
there you can define SQL
statements that can be referred to from MXML
I am having the following error:
'Error in SQL for 'fill' in destination 'sql-product'.
Matching pair of # tokens not found'
And the statement it is referring to, from within the
data-management-config.xml file is:
<name>getAllForServer</name>
<sql>SELECT * FROM MYTABLE
WHERE SERVER_ID = #SERVER_ID#
</sql>
I do not understand the # syntax, and how can it be used
universally? for example, setting the value of LIMIT, or variables
in WHERE statementsThanks a bunch, that was it. Any ideas where I can find DTSs
or Schemas for the FDS config files?

Hi,
I have some problem with the XML data in transaction document for Talent Management
Unable to perform transaction on the record.
Cause: The record has deleted by another user
When checked manually from back end, there objectives (IDs) that are there in XML type, aren't there in per_objectives table. The error seems right.
My task now is to find how many cases(objectives) are there like this. Logic is, look for objectives (that are marked as Update/Delete) in XML and find the ID existing in per_objectives or not. I could make-up the SQL for listing all objectives as a table result as below:
select
extractvalue(VALUE(xx_row), '/ObjectiveEORow/Name') AS objective_name,
extractvalue(VALUE(xx_row), '/ObjectiveEORow/ObjectiveId') oid
from hr_api_transactions txn,
TABLE(xmlsequence(extract(xmlparse(document txn.transaction_document wellformed),'/Transaction/TransCache/AM/TXN/EO/ObjectiveEORow'))) xx_row
where extractvalue(xmlparse(document transaction_document wellformed),'/Transaction/TransCtx/TransactionRefId') = '26308'
and txn.transaction_id = 1946469;
Problem now is, to distinguish only the PS="3" (Delete) and PS="2"(Update) objectives. This table doesn;t show the PS attribute of the "ObjectiveEORow" node in XML.
<ObjectiveEORow PS="3">
<ObjectiveId>1813772</ObjectiveId>
</ObjectiveEORow>
Please help me in making the SQL show the XML attribute "PS" value for node "ObjectiveEORow".
regards,
Raj.I could get the solution. Thanks everyone !
select 'E'||ppf.employee_number employee_number,ppf.full_name,txn.transaction_document,txn.transaction_id, i.*
from per_all_people_f ppf,
per_personal_scorecards psc,
hr_api_transactions txn,
xmltable('/Transaction/TransCache/AM/TXN/EO/ObjectiveEORow'
passing xmltype(transaction_document)
columns
PS varchar2(800) path '@PS',
oid number path 'ObjectiveId'
) i
where txn.transaction_ref_table = 'PER_PERSONAL_SCORECARDS'
and psc.scorecard_id = txn.transaction_ref_id
and ppf.person_id = psc.person_id
and trunc(sysdate) between ppf.effective_start_date and ppf.effective_end_date
