Annoying keyboard KeyListener

i have his problem i have implemented key listener correctly, but how do i change the response of the program if i hold the key.
atm the problem is that when i hold the key it takes it a while to start up (its a ball that is controled by a keyboard).

that is exactly what you wnat to do. Basically in the keyPressed event set a boolean to true and then in the keyReleased set it to false. in the rendering loop only move the ball if the boolean is set to true.

  • IOS 7 Keyboard - Annoying period key

In ios7, a period was added to the right of the keyboard in safari, making it just a touch shorter. This is resulting in an annoying side affect in that my search queries are looking like this:
    "apple.updates.for.ios.7"
Is there any way to turn this off in the keyboard, or even specify a keyboard to always use? I hate having to look at the screen every time to see that the layout has changed.

@Articsine: isn't that a hardware keyboard? Selecting it doesn't fix the problem for me. The only software keyboard choices I see are QWERTY, AZERTY, and QWERTZ.
It seems that the software keyboard changes depending on what type of field you are typing in. Entering a URL, for example, is where I get that annoying keyboard with the short spacebar and period. When entering an email address, the spacebar is even shorter, to make room for the @ key. But while I'm typing this message, I have a long spacebar and no adjacent period.
I guess my problem is that I like to use the URL field as my primary search bar, so I end up hitting that blasted period all the time. Didn't the previous version of safari mobile have a google search field next to the URL field? I think that's why I never used to have this problem...

  • Removing Gnome 2.30's keyboard indicator

    Hi.
I've just upgraded to Gnome 2.30 and now there always is this annoying keyboard layout indicator in the tray. I use two layouts between which I switch using a keyboard shortcut. I can't find a way to remove the indicator and it's really getting on my nerves. As much as I like Gnome, presenting a tray icon to the user with no apparent way to remove it is not really user-friendly Does anyone have an idea how to get rid of it?
    Thanks!

Quoting the Gnome 2.30 release notes:
The GNOME Keyboard Indicator has been removed from GNOME Applets. If you use more than one keyboard layout, the GNOME Keyboard Indicator will now automatically appear in your tray via gnome-system-daemon.

  • How can I find and disable Page Down in the Keyboard Shortcuts menu?

I often accidentally hit Page Down because it's right beside my arrow keys. It seems to switch to the next symbol in the library which is something I never under any circumstances would want to do. How do I disable this incredibly annoying keyboard shortcut? I can't find it anywhere in the unsearchable rat's nest that is the Keyboard Shortcut menu.

Aha, thank you for drawing my attention to the export html button, it does make it possible to search those keyboard shortcuts.
In my case, View -> Go to -> Next was set to nothing. More oddly, the words "Page Down" don't appear anywhere at all in the generated file, and when I set another random command (Zoom In) to use Page Down it didn't warn of a conflict. Hitting page down zoomed in instead of switching me to another symbol, and when I cleared the shortcut from zoom in it went back to swapping between symbols. I guess I'll have to set something benign to use the page down key.
Bizarre. I guess this must be a bug in CS6?

  • G560 Keyboard Problem

In all my games, including browser based flash games, I've found a rather annoying keyboard problem. Whenever I hit a key, the computer believes I have hit a nunber key. If I only hit one key over and over, it cycles through numbers. So if I hit "W", the computer believes that "4" was hit. If i hit "W" again, it believes a "5" was hit, and so on and so forth. It appears that this issue was caused by a Windows Update. I did a system restore, which fixed the problem, but when I shut down, updates were installed, and when I booted up the next day, the issue has returned.
I am currently running games in compatability mode, and that seems to keep the problem at bay, but it's not a complete fix, as certain games do not function properly in compatability mode. I've called Windows, and posted on their forums, but they said to come here. Does anyone know what the permanent fix for this is? Has Lenovo released a fix?

it is actually a security program put in lenovos to prevent keyloggers from
getting your info on what you type into your computer. but to solve this problem,
go to start -> type in msconfig -> enter -> startup -> and uncheck GID
    Desktop Application -> restart.
what the program does is save everything you type as consecutive numbers.
That way people looking at the keyloggers won't be able to see what you
actually type in since they show up as consecutive numbers with no
distinguishable pattern to crack the code. that is why in some games everything
shows up as numbers even tho you type a letter.

  • Annonying DV6 Touchpad and Keyboard

It seems that HP doesn´t carry out usability test for this machine.
    1) This model have a really annoying touchpad.  The buttons are really hard to press and its a sure cause for wrist pain.
    2) I don't get used to the first column of keys (mail, touchsmart, web, print and calc), everytime Im going to press CTRL I ends pressing calc button.  Who was the genius who wants to reinvent the standard keyboard disposition?
    3) No virtual numeric keypad??? Some programs and games map special functionality specifically to these keys.
    4) What happend with the ergonomics? The buttons surface is so flat that the finger doesn´t rest over it and the space between keys is unconfortable.  In my oppinion the "chocolate keys" are pretty far from ergonomic and usability.
I have been a loyal HP client, I bought HP laptops since my first laptop and this time I get really dissapointed and I feel unconfortable with this machine.  Sometimes I feel so annoyed that I start to thinking about selling it (if anyone dare to buy it) and go for another brand.
If you feel the same about this model (for this reasons or others) please post here so HP hear our discontent.

I have the same keyboard on the CQ56-115DX. I share your pain. I really wish HP would provide an option to replace this super annoying keyboard. It's the worst keyboard I ever used and I own several HP and Dell desktops and laptops plus HP, Lenovo, and Dell laptops from work. I've never had a keyboard so bad.

  • Windows 7 only, best settings?

hi, i have a few questions, i want to install windows 7 without osx or bootcamp.
    1) should i use gpt or mbr to format the whole hdd? (with leopard disc) and why?
    2) when osx is installed and i try to boot win7 from install dvd i have a problem: i stuck at a black screen with "select cd-rom boot type: ..." so i had to create a modified disc to do the installation. can i use the original win disc when i do a win-only install? with mbr? or gpt? why?
    3) or should i wait for an apple efi update?
    regards chief

I have Windows 7 running on my MacBook Pro and from my experience, Windows 7 is set up to automatically turn on the keyboard backlight whenever the lighting changes, so every time a shadow moves over the webcam or the light changes just a little bit, Windows will activate the keyboard backlight. Combine this with the fact that Bootcamp's drivers can't effectively communicate with Windows to shut off this feature and you get a very annoying keyboard.
If you can, try to work in a well-lit area so that Windows never has the urge to turn on the keyboard backlight. If you're stuck in a low light condition, and you have no way to keep a (somewhat) bright light aimed at the webcam, you may be stuck with the annoying backlight until Bootcamp gets a better driver to override the Windows backlight driver.

  • Got a 648 MAX? Read this...

If you have one of these boards, then I would strongly suggest that you do as me and my mates have done - send it back and get a non-MSI Intel board.
The problems with this board are massive and MSI appears unable to solve them with new BIOS versions.
First off, nobody appears to be able to get 512Mb of RAM working at CAS2 at any RAM speed. This happens with Kingmax, OCZ and Corsair DDR400 memory - we can't get any of our boards to work @ CAS2 even at DDR333. 2 of us can get it working @ DDR400 CAS2.5, but performance is no better than an 845PE running DDR333 CAS2.
Secondly, there are some really annoying keyboard problems that we have all experienced across Win2K and XP - at the login screen the keyboard won't respond and we are unable to press ctrl-alt-del to login. Pressing the power button to shutdown is the only way to do anything about this.
Thirdly, if you use the reset button, have a screwdriver in your other hand, because you WILL need to take the side of the case off to clear the CMOS as the system just locks solid. We initially thought it might be a sticky reset button, but then we all tried it and got the same problem.
This board is bad and MSI isn't admitting it. Don't just take my word for it, read any number of tech support forums and you'll see 648MAX issues all over the place.
Oh and a note to MSI - instead of spending time, effort and money to make your boards pretty by colouring them red, spend the cash you would have spent on that on some better design engineers and a more thorough testing process.

Anyone tried upping the FSB?  Its not possible.  I can't even go up 1MHz.  That tells me that somethign is seriously wrong.
I'll NEVER buy another MSI product, nor will I recommend them.
I agree that the board doesn't overclock well. I don't O/C so I guess that's one reason I'm not mad about it.
    What issues are you having?
It is touchy with Power supplies and DDR400, as are most 648 boards I've seen or read about. Mine has been very stable. The Asus P4S8X I had wouldn't even run DDR333. Asus then released a BIOS which would only run at DDR266 even when set at DDR333(You can go back through the Asusboards forums and see the uproar that caused!).

  • Windows 7 and Brightness Settings

    Hey,
I am having problems with my brightness settings while running bootcamp Windows 7. Every time i change the settings via the keyboard brightness settings, within seconds the setting will automatically revert back to full brightness. The same is true when i adjust it in bootcamp control panel menu.
I have updated my video driver to the newest and still nothing. Can anyone offer some help? Thanks

  • Is T500 is good machine

    Hello Friends
I was searching laptops with good specs and i came across T500 notebook. i read some reviews of it saying it has annoying keyboard flex + on the palmrest ..... and also it looks cheap from the inside ....... Can anybody let me know if it is realy comming with new laptops of lenovo that dissapointed me a lot !!!!!
    r eply me guys....
    Thanks

    QAftw,
This minor revision would not be considered a product refresh, or version 2 as you suggest.   Products normally undergo minor revisions while in production to incorporate information derived from the field.   Product refreshes are usually timed around processor speed bumps.
From the customer view, nothing externally changes, and this update will just ensure that the keyboard has a solid feel no matter which version is used, or any other tolerances that might otherwise come into play.   This update is the long term solution based upon customer feedback on the keyboard flex concerns on the left side of some of these systems.   The tactical solution has been to build with the earlier T61 version that had the additional plate on the keyboard where possible.   This update will allow for the use of the newer, lightweight keyboard, while providing the same solid feel that customers expect.
    Best regards,
    Mark

  • ITunes 9 - I want my green button switch to mini view back

Upon updating to iTunes 9, I found that the way I switch between the "mini" view and the full window view - the green button - has been made inoperable. I'm not happy about that.
Every day I listen to music, I tend to switch between the mini and full views many times in a listening session using the mouse and only the mouse. Obfuscating this function behind an annoying keyboard combination is seriously irritating.
Apple, please make the green button in full view make the window switch to mini view again, or give us a new button in full view that does the same thing.
In the mean-time, does anyone have any hacks or whatever to undo Apple's bad decision?

    I agree 100%.
This is really annoying. I switch back and forth constantly and find the whole key-combo counter productive to "ease of use" and familiarity to a method that EVERY iTunes user is accustomed to.
Apple, bad decision. Please bring back the one click (Green Traffic Light) Minimize option. Would GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Annoying low pitch noise under keyboard (around esc key) any solution??????

    Hi guys,
All of a sudden I am experiencing the same noise under my keyboard and it doesn't go away. I always take a very good care of my computer but I don't know what has caused it and even though I have purchased the Apple care plan but I am in an area that there is no Apple service center (I am away from Canada). I have ran the hardware test (extended test), it could not find anything but this noise is annoying.
Please someone or an apple technician tell me what to do? Does anyone have a local number (in Canada) other than 1-800 number for Apple technical support? I have purchased my Macbook Pro in March 2009!!!! I will appreciate your help!
The second question I have is that after just couple of months that I purchased this MBP, Apple changed the configurations to what I was really after but no one at Apple store told me anything that if I wait I can get a new version of MBP with 8GB RAM and SD card. Where can I send my complaint to Apple? Does anyone have any email address of apple management? I feel Apple has not been honest with me.

    Sasan Mac wrote:
Thanks for your reply but its not the speed of the fan, I have checked. Even when I turn the computer on, right from the beginning, you can hear the noise.
In that case I suspect that it is actually either a defective or out of balance fan (most probable) , or the fans are running at full speed because of a problem with the thermal control processes.
Regarding the second part of my message, I asked all , I emphasize, all of the sales reps about the availability of more RAM to be specific but no one told me anything. I waited quite sometime to see if they offer they same amount of RAM as their 17" (8GB) but at last, since my previous laptop was broken, I had to make the move. I have heard that Apple has, in some cases like mine, compensated the customers by exchanging or offering money. I expect that Apple must do the same to me too since it just happened couple of months after my purchase not a whole lot longer.
Sales staff are very unlikely to really know what will be contained in the next upgrade until a matter of days before any new release, Sasan.
As far as "compensation" goes, If you had bought the Mac within a few days of the model change over that might be a different matter but Apple's 14 day return policy would have allowed you to move up to the "new" model at minimal expense (the price of their small restocking fee) anyway. Two months is a different order altogether. Model runs with computers are always quite short. If manufacturers had to replace every computer purchased within the last two months before a new one was released with the new model then they would all go broke very quickly!
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Swift keyboard; annoying issue with Facebook

    Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is something for the forum so apologise in advance if this is the case.
My only main gripe with the Swift keyboard is when it's on and you enter someone's name to tag for someone reason when you hit enter it removes the tag, you have to turn back to the normal keyboard to avoid this.
It's very annoying - can anyone help at all ?
    Thanks

    Hi John,
this is from the FAQ Site of Remote Desktop Client on Mac. you can find it here:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn473006.aspx
How do I type various symbols on a Mac keyboard?
The location of many symbols on your keyboard depends on the used keyboard layout and language setting.
    also
Why are the characters mixed up in the session?
This issue can occur if the keyboard language has been switched on the remote PC while running a remote desktop session. In the case you would like to switch to a different keyboard language follow these instructions.
    Important
The remote PC selects the system language of the device running the remote desktop client and not the keyboard language. When switching the keyboard language on your device, you need to manually switch the keyboard language on the remote PC.
    Open settings on your device.
Tap General and then tap International.
Tap Language and select the language running on the remote PC.
Open the RD Client and connect to the remote PC and check if the Windows keyboard language matches the language that you selected.
    cheers Stephan
