Annoying update pop-up

Given that some people do not care to update their skype because *NEWS FLASH* they like the older interface, they obviously would shut off the automatic update. However, that does not stop skype from shoving the update in our face. Customer service rule #1: You DO NOT ask a customer to get something they have REPEATEDLY refused. I would suggest that the update pop-up be either abolished or a setting be made to stop pop-ups. The last thing I want is to accidentally allow the update. Speaking of which, retro-grading to an older version of skype would be a nice option. However, needless to say, skype will not bother to do any of this because they care more about corporate profits than pleasing their thousands of users. You'd think that with the insane amount of money they have, they could easily make these small changes.

You obviously have the same problem I do.  It makes me reboot to get rid of it.  If you have not solved it, you can by uninstalling it in your control panel.

  • Adobe Reader Updater Pop Ups on Mac are Daily & Annoying!

My Adobe Reader Updater Preferences are set to null - no reminders needed. YET, I get these pop ups reminding me that another update is ready. Daily! It interrupts my work, as on a Mac I see two icons jumping up and down in the apps bin until I respond. VERY DISRUPTIVE, Adobe! Stop it! Someone please tell me how to address these ridiculous, voluminous update pop ups. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Your Reader app needs to be updated.
    Download the offline installer: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save it, but don't run it yet.
    Go to: Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Reader 11 Application from there
    Go to: MacHD/library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdobePDFviewer.plugin from there
    Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin also
    Empty the trash
Mount the DMG and run the installer to reinstall Reader
When it finishes, reboot and open Reader from the Applications folder
Accept the License Agreement and then close Reader

  • Smart way to auto update pop-up menu in nav bar?

Smart way to keep updating pop-up menu in Nav bar ?
I created a template in DW 8. It is used to generate many
other pages for the site. only the page content region is editable.
There is a nav bar in the template. Some buttons of the nav bar
display pop-up menu when MouseOver . Those pop-up menu need to be
changed from time to time. What is the best way to automatically
update the pop-up menu in those templated-generated files, using
template (I tried to define the nav bar as editable region,
modified the pop-ups and saved the template. I got a lots of
unexpected problems, DW8 even crashed), using libray items or
something else? I am a relatively new DW developer. Much appreciate
    if someone could help.

If the navigation is in a non-editable region of the
    template, then changes
to it will propagate automatically to all child pages - are
    you not seeing
    that happen?
    > I tried to define the nav bar as editable region
You wouldn't usually want to do that.
    > I got a lots of unexpected problems, DW8 even
    > crashed
You must have made other errors. Doing something like this
    would surely not
    crash DW.
The only problem with having the navigation in the
    non-editable region of
the template is that a change to it will touch *every* file
    in the site,
each of which must then be uploaded again. To solve this
    problem you can
use server-side includes for the navigation. Then you would
    make your
change to the include file, upload it, and all pages would
    reflect that
    change.

You should not have to sign into iCloud to do this...

  • How can I stop the software updater pop ups advising me to update to 11.0.03?

Can anyone help with how to stop the software updater pop ups advising me to update to Reader 11.0.03? My antivirus advises the link in the pop up is unsafe, so I went to the Adobe website to update from Reader 9. The website doesn't offer X1, but did offer X, so I updated to 10.1.7.
Why is the site not offering a download for X1?
Even though I have updated to X I am still getting the pop ups for X1. I have attached a screen shot of the pop up - is this legitimate or some kind of scam carrying a virus?
    Thanks.

There are literally thousands of sites with videos (linked to from yet thousands more) that will prompt you to "upgrade" or update your already updated Flash Player. This is the most common method of delivery for malware like that.
A friend who runs a PC Repair business told me that if you've updated your Flash Player and you see a warning in a web page that you need to download an update to watch a video, it's an attack site.
A simple gesture of holding your mouse over the warning or link, will indicate the address it points to. If it DOESN'T say Adobe anywhere in the beginning of the address (download.adobe.com, or adobe.com/downloads), it's a forgery, and you should leave that page immedaitely. If you download and install whatever they link you to, it may play the content you were looking for, but you've just been infected with something that may lay dormant for months and then suddenly take over your whole system.
If you use your PC for work, you're really in trouble.

  • How can update pop - up blocker settings

How can I update pop - up blocker settings

If you're suddenly seeing unaccustomed ad activity, you may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Annoying PPPoE pop-up message using Airport

Even though my airport wireless works great, when browsing or checking email I keep getting a pop-up that says, "Can't find a PPPoE Server". This doesn't affect the operation of anything I am doing and when I close the box everything continues to work fine. How do I keep this annoying pop-up from occurring?
On the left side of the opening screen of Airport Utility, I have "Airport" (selected), "Firewire" (not connected), and "Ethernet" (not connected). When I go to Airport Utility (Advanced Setting), I get to a screen that says, "Connect Using" with the only choices being Ethernet or PPPoE. I choose Ethernet (even though I don't have Ethernet, trying to get rid of the PPPoE pop-up). Below that item it says "Configure Using" and I select "DHCP" (the other choice is "Manually"). Any ideas about shutting off the annoying PPPoE pop-up? Thanks.

I have a Network extreme and 2 network express bases currently (my house is small but loaded wth chimneys lead pipes and water tanks which hamper basic routers). I am getting the same pop up but during the process of my Mac attempting to access the PPoE server there is no internet connection. (it took me 5 minutes to move from a previous page to this page thanks to this recurring process).
Previous to this set up I was using the standard BT infinty router which used to lose the connection frequently. I've even tried connecting the nearest Network Express to the Mac with an ethernet cable but to no avail. I still get frequent 3-5 minute breaks in connection mostly on start up or if the Mac wakes from sleep.
Where is the setting to switch to DHCP only?
Its really beginning to bug me. 2 iPhones and 1 iPad have no probelm connecting to the Network.

  • STOP VERIZON SOFTWARE UPDATE POP UP

I want to turn off these stupid Verizon Software update pop ups. I have NO intention of allowing Verizon to put more crap on my phone that I don't want and definitely have no intentions of allowing them to remove things I put on the phone I PAID FULL PRICE FOR, off because they don't want them on there. I've heard nothing good about this latest update, and of course, Verizon has no real customer support so I have to turn to the community here to help me. So, if you can tell me how to turn off the notifications or stop the automatic updating, that would be great. If I have to root my phone, I'm okay with that, I just need to know how.
    Thanks!

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 as your tagline suggests then you can only do the update via your computer's iTunes (you will need the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer).
To update, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad via File > Devices > Back Up.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar (you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button
    Updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
You can only update a device to the highest iOS version that it supports, which for an iPad 2 is iOS 7.0.6

Please Help me.....Yesterday I was on the computer and this update popped up....first let me tell you,  I am not an avid computer user, I only know what I know an that is it.....My husband told me one time if the update were from apple that I could download....I have downloaded other and no big deal.....well I downloaded this....
I made the biggest mistake of my life.....I didn't realize what it had done...MY WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE ARE MY PICTURES....I USED IPHOTO....I KNEW HOW IT WORKED...I LOVED THE EFFECTS, USING VINGRET(I SPELLED THAT WRONG) AND THE COLOR BOOST.... THE EMAIL OPTION TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A SCRAPBOOK PAGE AND SLIDESHOWS WITH MUSIC....AND NOW I HAVE LOST THIS....I HATE THIS STUPID NEW THING....I WANT MY IPHOTO BACK...
HOW DO I GET THIS OFF AND MY I PHOTO BACK....THIS IS GOING TO RUIN MY PICTURE TAKING AND THIS IS THE WHOLE REASON I BOUGHT THIS
COMPUTER IN THE FIRST PLACE...IF I CAN CHANGE THIS BACK, THERE IS NO REASON FOR ME TO HAVE THIS COMPUTER ANYMORE..PLEASE TELL
ME HOW MY HUSBAND AND I CAN THIS STUPID HORRIBLE DOWNLOAD OFF MY COMPUTER....I MADE A HORRIBLE MISTAKE FOR DOWNLOADING
THIS, I WILL NEVER DOWNLOAD ANOTHER UPDATE EVER AGAIN FROM APPLE...

.We tried to click on the iPhoto9.6.1 and it wouldn't let me..said it was no longer available...but I could be wrong..I appreciate you replying, I will wait till my husband comes home and see if he can figure it out...I am just upset and old....and don't understand...
This is bad news, but you will have to be patient in this case.
Since day  before yesterday iPhoto is no longer sold by Apple, so it does not show at the App Store. You should still be able to update iPhoto to version 9.6.1 from the Updates page of the AppStore, but the is not always offering the download. Try regularly; Apple Support promised that the update will be available again soon.

  • How to Get Rid of those annoying Updates on Home p...

How do you get rid of those annoying UPDATES that appear on my Home Page.  In the past I was able to go to VIEW>COMPACT VIEW,then hit DEFAULT then MAXIMIZE and all UPDATES would disappear, infact all ads too and I would only be left with several of my contacts profile pictures at the top.  Today I had to change my Password cause I forgot my password and I cant get rid of those updates PASSWORD TOKEN and PASSWORD SUCCESSFULY CHANGED.  Nothing works to delete these.  Tell me how.  Thanks

I am thinking Skype doesn't offer that feature. I "Deleted Contacts" and they will not go away on my home page. It is getting to the point of beyond annoying and traumatic. I want them to go away and I have no power to do that on Skype? I emailed Skype and they simply told me to wait. I just posted like 20 status updates myself, thinking there is a limit. I don't see their faces anymore, but the scroll bar just got shorter.
@Skype... if you are reading this... do another update that allows us to delete annoying home page updates... ESPECIALLY when they are deleted from your contacts!

  • HP Update pop up is annoying me!

Since installing an HP  F4500 printer, I keep seeing a pop up which says: "HP Update Would you like to download......." etc.

  • Annoying UPDATES Available pop up. ANyway to get rid of it?

Everysingle day i get this Updates Available popup at the top right of my computer. I'm using Mavericks. I push the Later button cause that's the only option there is and the only options are  Try in an Hour, Try Tonight and Try tomorrow.... So I basically have it all the time.

Jeii, you'll learn this real quick, please respect the experts. We advise the simplest solution first and then inquire as to why someone wants to not do something that is recommended. We're here to help solve problems and post solutions that help improve workflows and overall Mac performance.
What do you mean by this? "trend of updates making older computers seem even older."
I've owned a Macbook pro for about 4 years now, it runs just as fast as it did when I bought it. Why? I purchased it with an SSD and upgraded to 8GB of RAM.
Hard drives are slow, your computer will feel slow and sluggish accordingly.
Lastly, you should be able to change the notifications accordingly:
System Preferences > Notifications > App store
If the appstore can't be changed, just Google how to hide App store/Software Update notifications, then ask for clarifications.

  • Disable Incessant Update Pop-up?

I updated the last time and ever since Netflix has never been the same. It works great on all my other devices. (360/PC/Wii/PS3/Mac/Macbook even iPhone 4's)
I learned my lesson and sure enough this time HDMI to DVI connector users (like myself) are reporting flickering issues which would render the device unwatchable to me. I do NOT want to update and I do NOT want that **** reminder popping up ever few minutes when I'm listening to music or when I'm browsing for something to watch.
Oh and does anyone know of a way I could revert to the original shipped OS so I can get Netflix to work reliably again?
    Thanks.

Apparently there is no way to revert to the good version.
