Anomaly with rownum (COUNT (STOPKEY)) and FTS testcase . Please explain.

Hi,
I've done simply test on 9.2.0.8 EE AIX DB which results I cant explain .
create table t (id number , filler varchar2(1024));
insert into t select rownum r , rpad('*', 1024 ,'*') from dual connect by level <= 1000000;
exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(user, 'T');
and here starts strange part for me:
I did noprint for column filler (think its irrelevant)

Hi,
I do not see any anomaly or problem.
You have two different query
select /*+FULL(t) */ * from t where id < 10 and rownum < 10;
select /*+FULL(t) */ * from t where id < 10 and rownum < 11;According to the inserted value, all the numbers are unique and are from 1 to 1000000.
Now when you say id<10, it would get only 9 records in your case and Oracle has stored the id < 10 at the same place.
So when you do id<10 and rownum<10, it get 9 values in 6 consistent gets and since both the condition is fullfilled it stops the scanning and return you the value. It does not scan to the HMW of the table.
But when you do id < 10 and rownum < 11, it would get 9 values in 6 consistent gets but still the query is not completed and hence it scan to hmw of the table and hence you are getting high consistent gets.
Regards
Anurag

• Help with Logic Pro 7 and Yamaha 01X please!

My friend has purchased an 01X, a 20" G5 iMac with 1.5GB RAM and Logic Pro 7. He is not the 'techiest' of people so was rather hesitant about going this route for his recording purposes. Having used a Yamaha AW4416 to successfully record an album, he figured that the 01X with Logic would be the next step up the ladder of useability & functionality.
Unfortunately, he is having a great deal of difficulty in getting the 01X to talk to Logic. He purchased and installed the Logic 7.1 update in the hope that things would start to work. Unfortunately, that hasn't helped either. All the 01X is able to do is start and stop the 'play head' in Logic. None of its other functions are having any effect. He is also having problems with mLan.
So, before he throws the whole lot out as a bad idea can anybody provide any success stories with Logic and the 01X. I am hoping to visit him this weekend to see if I can help. However, whilst I know a whole lot about Macs, I have no experience with the 01X or Logic (I used Cubase VST in the past on a few projects). Any help or pointers in troubleshooting this would be very gratefully received.
Lol

i've been looking into getting the 01X and been doing some reading. i have no experience with it but i'm interested in hearing more about how you get on. i did find that www.o1xray.com has a forum full of information about setting up logic and the 01X. ElmerJFud seems to be the main dude, his post has a lot of setup information: http://www.01xray.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=7&Board=01X_Macintosh&Number=19978 0&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

• Enqueue and Dequeue consept----Please explain urgent

hi all,
i want to use sap locking mechanisn (Enqueue and dequeue consept) while updating database table....please explain how to use this while updating a database table.
Thanks in advance
Nandha kumar

Nandha,
Good document on this concept..
      Activating a lock object in the ABAP Dictionary automatically creates function modules for setting (ENQUEUE_<lock object name>) and releasing (DEQUEUE_<lock object name>) locks.
The generated function modules are automatically assigned to function groups. You should not change these function modules and their assignment to function groups since the function modules are generated again each time the lock object is activated.
Never transport the function groups, which contain the automatically generated function modules. The generated function modules of a lock object could reside in a different function group in the target system. Always transport the lock objects. When a lock object is activated in the target system, the function modules are generated again and correctly assigned to function groups.
Parameters of the Function Modules
Field Names of the Lock Object
The keys to be locked must be passed here.
A further parameter X_<field> that defines the lock behavior when the initial value is passed exists for every lock field <field>. If the initial value is assigned to <field> and X_<field>, then a generic lock is initialized with respect to <field>. If <field> is assigned the initial value and X_<field> is defined as X, the lock is set with exactly the initial value of <field>.
Parameters for Passing Locks to the Update Program
A lock is generally removed at the end of the transaction or when the corresponding DEQUEUE function module is called. However, this is not the case if the transaction has called update routines. In this case a parameter must check that the lock has been removed.
Parameter _SCOPE controls how the lock or lock release is passed to the update program (see The Owner Concept for Locks). You have the following options:
_SCOPE = 1: Locks and lock releases are not passed to the update program. The lock is removed when the transaction is ended.
_SCOPE = 2: The lock or lock release is passed to the update program. The update program is responsible for removing the lock. The interactive program with which the lock was requested no longer has an influence on the lock behavior. This is the standard setting for the ENQUEUE function module.
_SCOPE = 3: The lock or lock release is also passed to the update program. The lock must be removed in both the interactive program and in the update program. This is the standard setting for the DEQUEUE function module.
Parameters for Lock Mode
A parameter MODE_<TAB> exists for each base table TAB of the lock object. The lock mode for this base table can be set dynamically with this parameter. Valid values for this parameter are S (shared), E (exclusive) and X (exclusive but not cumulative).
The lock mode specified when the lock object for the table is created is the default value for this parameter. This default value can however be overridden as required when the function module is called.
If a lock set with a lock mode is to be removed by calling the DEQUEUE function module, this call must have the same value for the parameter MODE_<TAB>.
Controlling Lock Transmission
Parameter _COLLECT controls whether the lock request or lock release should be performed directly or whether it should first be written to the local lock container. This parameter can have the following values:
Initial value: The lock request or lock release is sent directly to the lock server.
X : The lock request or lock release is placed in the local lock container. The lock requests and lock releases collected in this lock container can then be sent to the lock server at a later time as a group by calling the function module FLUSH_ENQUEUE.
Behavior for Lock Conflicts (ENQUEUE only)
The ENQUEUE function module also has the parameter _WAIT. This parameter determines the lock behavior when there is a lock conflict.
You have the following options:
Initial value: If a lock attempt fails because there is a competing lock, the exception FOREIGN_LOCK is triggered.
X : If a lock attempt fails because there is a competing lock, the lock attempt is repeated after waiting for a certain time. The exception FOREIGN_LOCK is triggered only if a certain time limit has elapsed since the first lock attempt. The waiting time and the time limit are defined by profile parameters.
Controlling Deletion of the Lock Entry (DEQUEUE only)
The DEQUEUE function module also has the parameter _SYNCHRON.
If X is passed, the DEQUEUE function waits until the entry has been removed from the lock table. Otherwise it is deleted asynchronously, that is, if the lock table of the system is read directly after the lock is removed, the entry in the lock table may still exist.
Exceptions of the ENQUEUE Function Module
FOREIGN_LOCK: A competing lock already exists. You can find out the name of the user holding the lock by looking at system variable SY-MSGV1.
SYSTEM_FAILURE: This exception is triggered when the lock server reports that a problem occurred while setting the lock. In this case, the lock could not be set.
If the exceptions are not processed by the calling program itself, appropriate messages are issued for all exceptions.
Reference Fields for RFC-Enabled Lock Objects
The type of an RFC-enabled function module must be completely defined. The parameters of the generated function module therefore have the following reference fields for RFC-enabled lock objects:
Parameters
Reference fields
X_<field name>
DDENQ_LIKE-XPARFLAG
_WAIT
DDENQ_LIKE-WAITFLAG
_SCOPE
DDENQ_LIKE-SCOPE
_SYNCHRON
DDENQ_LIKE-SYNCHRON
Pls. reward if useful

• Execute Inventory with Cycle-Counting Method and by Quants

Hi Gurus,
I would like to Implement the Inventory by quant on WM.
This is because I would like to Inventory only 1 material per Bin.
I found transaction LICC, but when I try to activate the Document an error message say that the Inventory Document Range (LVS_IVNUM) does not exist.
How can I create this range? Have you got a manual for this implementation?
Another Question: the Inventory count is allready implemented and there is still a range of Inventory Documents created and managed by LI01N, LX26..the Cycle Counting by quants can interferate with the one allready implemented?
Thanks & Regards,
Simone

Hi,
For the LICC issue I had same problem. Direct in production you need to maintain number ranges in LN05 for your warehouse.
Thanks.

• VERY BIG PROBLEMS WITH MY ZEN MICRO AND MEDIASOURCE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! PLEASE RESPOND

Ok so a while back I had to give up my computer because it wasn't working.
I thought that with my new computer I'd be able to transfer all of my music from my zen micro onto my new computer.
Now my new computer is set up and I have installed creative mediasource and everything. I started to transfer my music from my zen onto my computer. My first 2 songs transfered successfully onto my computer. On the third song, I get this message:
"Unable to read file, file may be in use, missing, or corrupted."
I thought that maybe it was just that one song so I shrugged it off. But then it says the same thing for every single other song that i have! Only my first 2 songs out of my entire music library on my zen will transfer!!!
Please i really need your help!!!
And say that there is no hope in getting the rest of my songs to transfer and i have to download 094 songs from limewire? I'll surely be arrested for downloading that much! What should i do if i must download all of them?
And one more problem with my zen: Some of my Jump Little Children songs are doing something weird. The song will be fine and then a clip from another song will play during it! And then press next and it just keeps playing all of my Jump songs in order even though my player is on shuffle and they do the same thing with the clip from another song interupting it. Whats going on?
Most importantly though, i really need the questions answered about transfering from my zen to my computer because i'll be getting a new player soon. But this is my entire music library at stake!! PLEASE RESPOND!!!

Might try this:? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...mp=true#M95059

How do i replace/erase the ID of the previous owner of my iMac Mini in the Apps Store with my own Apple ID.All attempts to erase the previous owners I(D are unsuccessful.Can anyone out there please help? Many thanks.

You are NOT allowed to assume or take over or merge the previous Owner's Apple ID Account with yours.  The Apps and media that that Owner bought in the Mac Store and iTunes Store were solely for his use and CANNOT under the Terms of Use for Apple be transferred to or used by anyone else.  You'll have to purchase new anything you want to use from the Store.  And you will Not be able to Update any Apple Apps he left on the Mac. Sorry, but those are the rules.

• Can't chat with one buddy- NEED HELP!! PLEASE EXPLAIN ERROR 8 SIMPLY!!!

i know this has already been discussed but i am technically illiterate and dont understand any of the responses previously made about opening ports- i have no idea what that means or how to do it! i am hoping someone can help me and explain how to solve this issue in simple terms please!!!
My situation is as follows:
my boyfriend and i both just bought macbooks together, v 10.5.2 leopard. we were very excited to try ichat video together. However, we found that we are getting the same error message many people are getting- the error-8. this happens when either one of us tries to initiate the conversation. HOWEVER, when a third person initiated a video chat amongst all 3 of us, we were able to see and hear each other through this 3-person video chat. The two of us have also had no problem using skype video or audio. The internal camera and microphone both seem to be working fine as well.
We both did try to go into system preferences-security-firewall- set specific preferences for applications- and added ichat. we quit out of ichat, and logged back in but we were still unsuccessful at getting video to work.
This is the dialogue i have received on the error message and i hope it helps:

thank you!!!!!!!!

The error you are getting is common when you have a router (wired and wireless) that doesn't work properly with iChat. The problem can be at either end or even both ends of the conversation, due to the equipment that's installed. All internet traffic travels through "ports". There are thousands of ports for specific types of data. Web pages use port 80, mail others, iChat yet others. A firewall is like a honeycomb with some of the holes punched through to let data through, and others blocked with wax. The ports are blocked to protect you from "bad guys" who are trying to get in and take over your machine for their own purposes.
Home routers come with a service called NAT firewall. It is usually turned on by default and will block all but the most common ports to the Internet (these can be disabled, but it's fairly dangerous to do so). Since the hardware router blocks the ports, it doesn't matter what you set your software firewall to accept. The incoming data doesn't get that far. Some routers will automatically open the proper ports when they are requested by a program like iChat, but many do not open them automatically and have to have the ports manually opened and forwarded to a computer.
Setting ports and port-forwarding can be a daunting task. You'll either need to find a 'techie' friend who understands how to set up your routers for special services, or get a router that is certified by Apple to work with iChat.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93333 - The list hasn't been updated since July 2007, so there are many more that will work, but no official list. Of course, Apple's own hardware is set up for their programs, but they can be a little pricey. Apple does support their products, and you can get an Employee at an Apple Store to help you set up one of their devices.
Note: All of my post assumes you have routers that are separate from your modem. If your broadband provider has sold or leased you a modem/router combo unit you will need to get more information (and possibly hardware) to proceed.

• Groups and their users - please explain

User "alex"
$ groups
disk wheel log network audio optical storage users
So it's in "users" group.
$ cat /etc/group | grep alex
disk:x:6:root,alex
wheel:x:10:root,alex
log:x:19:root,alex
network:x:90:alex
audio:x:92:alex
optical:x:93:hal,alex
storage:x:95:hal,alex
Alex is not in "users" here. Why? If I open "/etc/group", there will be:
users:x:100:

Right.  If /etc/passwd says "username:x:1000:100:......." that means username is user #1000 and is a part of group 100.  Note that only 1 group can be listed in /etc/passwd.  And yes they are automatically in that group.  Any additional groups may be given to the user by listing the user in /etc/group.
In the above example, there is no need to add "username" to group 100 in /etc/group, since it is stated in /etc/passwd that "username" belongs to group 100.  If you wanted to, you could also list "username" in group 100 in /etc/group, but that is not necessary.
The reason that /etc/passwd has you give a group to the username in /etc/passwd is so that for example if i were to make a new file, it would set the new file's ownership to my username and the group given to me in /etc/passwd.  In the above example, if i were to make a new file (with the user "username" as shown above with group #100 (users) in /etc/passwd), then the new file would by default belong to "username" and to group "users".
So to answer your question simply: yes the user is automatically added to the group given in /etc/passwd.   And therefore there is no need to type the username in /etc/group.  You can if you want to, but there is no need to.  And one reason that there is a group listed in /etc/passwd rather than having it all done through /etc/group is so that when you make a file, it knows what group owns it by default.

• ORA-00604 and ORA-12899-- please explain...

ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-12899: value too large for column "DVIR"."TB_USERS"."USER_DB_NAME" (actual: 12, maximum: 10) ORA-06512: at line 55 ORA-12899: value too large for column "DVIR"."TB_USERS"."USER_DB_NAME" (actual: 12, maximum: 10)

This error means you are trying to insert the value having 12 characters but the length of the column specified is 10. So you cannot insert the data beyond the specified limit. For Ex. you have specified varchar2(10) and the data you are inserting is more than 10 characters then you will get this error.

Please help

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
Step 4
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 10. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

• CCM 9.1 dial plan with 11 digits Pros and Con

all I came into a new setup where they have the following:
DN:  11 digits (1XXXXXXXXXX) which matches the DID's
all LDAP users has +1 dialing in telephone field
I guest this was mainly used for + dialing
used across 5 locations
Now they want to add site codes (CCC+last4) 7 digits for internal dialing
                                  -- plan on adding 20 more sites.
this would not be so bad if the site had DID's in a con't range.  I am hoping this does not turn into a nightmare
plan:
leave the DN at 11 digits
change the display to show CCC+last4
create translation for the site code (CCC)
                                   CCC.XXXX  --  predot, prefix 1678507  =   16785075555
has anyone done this type of dial plan before?  Pros and Con

Hello!
Please, explain a little bit more "this would not be so bad if the site had DID's in a con't range"..
Can u put some examples may be?
Regards,

• Bin fitting with a counter using both analytics and model clause.

11.2.0.3
This falls under 'just want to figure out how to do it'. Its not critical for work. I want to try to see if its possible to do this with both analytic function and with a model clause. Just to see if its possible. It has been stumping me.
I got the idea to look at this from this article about bin fitting. I have been playing with the model clause and I think you would do something with the 'increment' clause, but I dont see a way to reset it to 1 at a certain point.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2012/12-mar/o22asktom-1518271.html
The case I want to look at is, bin fitting based on a counter and a partition by. In theory this should be simpler than the example in the link.
create table myrooms (
room_number number,
person_id        number);
create unique index myrooms_ind on myrooms(room_number,person_id);
Person_id is not unique. So row_number is more appropriate than rank or dense_rank.
Problem: Partition by room_number, assign up to 50 people to a specific group with in the same room. This seems like it could be handled with a row_number() and a window clause, but that is not supported.
I need to basically translate the old procedural counter into sql:
pseudo-code that does not compile that would have a reason to use this logic.
declare
      cursor curGetRoom
         select room_number,person_id
            from my rooms
          order by room_number;
counter number := 1;
vCurrentRoom myroom.room_number%type;
begin
        for i in curGetRoom loop
            if vCurrentRoom is null then
               vCurrentRoom := i.room_number;
            elsif vCurrentRoom = i.room_number then

                 vCurrentRoom := i.room_number;
                counter :=1;
            end if;
end;
simple partition query., but I dont see a way to limit this to 50 and then start over. Window functions are not supported with row_number()
select room_number,person_id,row_number() over (partition by room_number order by person_id) rn

• Af:table range navigation and select  with rownum

I'm trying to use af:table to display some data (long list), but the value attribute always returns the entire list. (Basic example)
I'd like to use the range navigation so the application only select a sublist from the database (using rownum between x and y) and also display the navigation pane with all the pages, but I was only able to get the specific page with no navigation pane.
Does anyone have a good example on how to use the range navigation with selects/rownum?

Assuming I have an untitled1.jspx page with an Untitled1.java backing bean and an <af:table> on my page whose whose binding attribute is set to the EL expression #{Untitled1.table} to expose the table UI component in the backing bean, and a rangeChangeListener set to the EL expression #{Untitled1.onRangeChanged}, then with the following backing bean class, I seem to have been able to disable the user's picking the "Show all" option. It still appears in the list, but visually picking it stays on the current range of rows.
package test.backing;
import oracle.adf.view.faces.component.core.data.CoreTable;
import oracle.adf.view.faces.event.RangeChangeEvent;
public class Untitled1 {
      private CoreTable table;
      public Untitled1() {
      public void onRangeChanged(RangeChangeEvent rangeChangeEvent) {
        int newStart = rangeChangeEvent.getNewStart();
        int newEnd = rangeChangeEvent.getNewEnd();
        if (newEnd - newStart > getTable().getRows()) {
          int oldEnd = rangeChangeEvent.getOldEnd();
          int oldStart = rangeChangeEvent.getOldStart();
          queueRangeChangeEventForTable(newStart, newEnd, oldStart, oldEnd);
      private void queueRangeChangeEventForTable(int oldStart, int oldEnd,
                                                 int newStart, int newEnd) {
        RangeChangeEvent rce =
          new RangeChangeEvent(getTable(), oldStart, oldEnd, newStart, newEnd);
        getTable().queueEvent(rce);
      public void setTable(CoreTable table) {
