Anti theft device Apple TV

Hello All,
We are looking at putting an AppleTV in our office, and are having trouble locating an anti-theft device as it has no kensington lock. Anyone have any ideas of what we could buy to secure the AppleTV from idle fingers? Something cheap but secure would be great.

perhaps a metal cage affixed to the cabinet would be better to ensure proper ventilation

  • Anti-theft device for iPod?

Recently had my 60GB iPod stolen at work. Does anyone know of a good anti-theft device for the iPod? I note that they use a pretty good system to prevent theft of iPods at Apple stores, but the salesperson there couldn't tell me what it was or where to get it. Does anyone here know? Thanks.

But if they do connect it to a computer and they dont have any iPod software then there pretty much screwed because then the iPod will get messed up since they have no way of disconnecting it.... and if they do disconnect it by just pulling the plug(not safely disconnecting it)then most likely the iPod will not continue to work.

  • Guidance to develop 2-way GSM (Mobile application) for car anti-theft Secur

I am software Developer (Java / J2EE). I am new to J2ME. I want to develop a car security system using 2-way GSM (mobile communication).
My Project Working / Requirement :
The alarm is applied with a mobile telephone SIM card (excluded), allowing the alarm to make and receive telephone calls whenever car is tempered with. This also allows you to track the location of the car via the telephone signal. Any SIM Card can be used. To use the system, just call the telephone number of the alarm, enter your pin number and a voice menu will guide you through the options. The pin-number system prevents unauthorized access to the alarm features. The manufacturing PIN number is pre-set and can be re-set by the owner. Calls can be made to the alarm by any telephone. Two alarming telephone numbers can be registered on the alarm. If the alarm is triggered, the alarm will automatically call the first telephone number within 13 seconds. This is in addition to the regular alarm (flashing lights, siren). If there is no reply, it will call the second number. The user can then reset the alarm, monitor the car, send a verbal warning to the burglars or stop the car by the telephone.
    Queries :
    1. I need suggestion on how do I go about it? 2 ways I can think of..
    a) Car anti-theft Device (an electronic device) which triggers the alarm whenever car is tempered with, will be readily available in market. Now I have to implement 2-way GSM alarming. So how do I integrate or implement above explained working in that electronic device so as to send / receive calls through alarm.
    b) Is there any way, where directly from scratch I develop alarming system using just mobile phones, where it will be programmed to work as explained above.
    2. I want to know is there any open source codes available which is similar to
this type of application. From which site I will get it?
    3. I am studying tutorial of J2ME and have started developing midlets (studying CLDC/MIDP). But I want to know what exactly I need to learn in J2ME? Which APIs I need to study to implement above project?
    4. Anybody has done any similar type of project? Please give me some idea.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dhara

Please explore some more, I dont get what u mean by alarm, alarm features, alarm to make and receive telephone calls, alarm is applied with a mobile telephone

  • Anti theft N8 - Forgotten trusted number and secur...

    Hi
I just unlocked my N8 as I am out of contract with my provider. When I put a new sim card in it to try it - I got the anti theft page and it is asking for a mobile security code.
I don't know what my trusted number is or the security code.
How can I get rid of the anti theft device as I need my phone for going away?
    Thanks

Unfortunately thats it because if it isn't 12345 then it means you could have changed it to anything. Only other option is to get it reset at your local Nokia Care Point. Remember to bring proof of purchase with you.

I have recently stolen iphone 4s, how to communicate the apple theft device?

Immediately change all your online passwords. Report the theft
to your local police and your wireless provider. Apple does not
    maintain records of stolen iPhones.

  • What anti-theft software does apple suggest?

What anti-theft tracking software does apple suggest?

Primarily to setup Find My on the hardware and register it in iCloud so it may or may not show up depending on being turned on, attached to internet, etc.
Of course, for that to work you need Mac OS X 10.7.2 or higher so you have access to iCloud.

  • What anti-theft solutions are best for the ipad?

    Hello,
I would like to know which anti-theft solutions are best for the IPad. I am ordering several for work and I would like to know. Thanks.

It depends upon how far you are willing to go.  Keeping it locked in a bank vault comes to mind but I suppose you want more flexibility.  Are you talking about physical attachment or just something to discourage a thief, or something to protect data integrity in case of theft? Realize that in many situations somebody may steal something and only later check if it has any value.  If it doesn't they will toss it in the nearest river, but you've still lost it.  As for iPads, a thief can reset one and it's like new.
Find My iPad - http://www.apple.com/ipad/icloud/#find - has to be enabled before device is lost.  It also requires the device be on and connected to registered WiFi network or data service, and not having been restored by the finder (if it was really stolen then the thief has probably restored it).  If you have activated the "Find My" feature, go to https://www.icloud.com or use the Find My iPhone app - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8
Setting up iCloud (requires iOS5) - http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html - includes activating the 'Find My' feature.

  • Anti theft disable lock switch

    Hi guys,
dont think or know if this is around for the iphones or ipad, but have recently become concerned about the safety of both my iphone and ipad recently, after looking at  the lock switch feature of the phone, i've found that even when the phone is locked, ie turned off....that the phone or ipad can still be shutdown without having to unlock the device first ??
so i'm wondering if it would be possible for apple to create an update so that the phone, ipad or ipod can ONLY be switched off when the phone is being used and completely disabled when the device is locked.   my main reason behind this, is because if i happened to lose my iphone or ipad i would want to maximise my chances of being able to trace my device, either via the....find my iphone app....or give giving the police ample time to be able to track it down.
considering the amount of people who lose their phones every day i'm quite suprised that apple havent addressed the above issue already.
what are your thoughts guys ?

All you would have to do is put it in a metal box or wrap it in aluminum foil to completely rednder it unreachable. There are always going to be ways to foil anti-theft protection

  • Security, anti-theft

    Hi,
Last week I bought a cellphone and it was lifted out of my car in less than 12 hours. I now have a brand new Bold. I hesitated in buying it since it is a valuable commodity, but I was told that the anti-theft features were quite good. Apparently the phone can be tracked via GPS if you activate it immediately. I have also heard about monitoring software that works in the background and can send out security details if the SIM card is ever changed.
I learned of PhoneBAK BB, which is an application available at Download.com and which has a high rating according to the site managers.
Has anyone heard of this? Are there other security options available that anyone has had any experience with?
Does anyone know of a website that explains how to secure a cellphone against theft?
I would be quite interested in hearing about it.
    Cheers,
    Mikey53

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While there is no way to really secure a device "against theft", there are measures you can take to do the things you discuss -- but IMHO the device itself is a commodity. The data contained on it, however, is potentially priceless. Hence, there are two things that BB's have that I consider invaluable:
    1) Backups -- the desktop software lets you backup all of your critical data. Further, if you are synchronizing with a desktop PIM, your data is already backed up there.
KB12487 How to backup data on a BlackBerry smartphone
KB17022 How to configure synchronization settings for BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    2) Device Password -- once activated, this will be required to unlock the device. After 10 sequential failed attempts, the device will wipe itself clean of all of your personal data.
KB16307 Actions that the BlackBerry smartphone performs during a BlackBerry smartphone wipe processes
With those two measures, I consider anything else to be somewhat useless...replacing the device is simple (yes, it could cost $$$, but it is easy)...replacing the data is really hard. And protecting that data from others is IMO essential.
    Hope that helps!

  • Anti-theft Apps

Hi there. I would like to know if there is any app out there on the appstore that takes pictures anonymously in case someone types a wrong password, and sends it to my email address with GPS positioning (anti-theft app). I found one a few weeks ago called "Dot Lock Secure", which promised 10 different password systems to use (amont them the famous dot lock used by android phones), and secret photo taking in case of an attemp to "break in". This was a godsend, specially considering that there is an app for that for Cydia users, called IGotYa, wich has already proven effective in case of stolen phones. I recently had my iphone stolen,  and it sucked, specially considering how ineffective Find my iPhone is on these situations, it is a simple matter of turning off the phone to avoid location, and formating it as soon as one reaches a computer.
Is there any good anti-theft app out there?
Also, where can I post suggestions to apple? Find my iPhone should be used not only for remote locking, wiping and messages, but also to prevent turning off the phone and secret photo taking. Apple has the tech, it makes no sense not to use it...Also, since every phone is has a single serial code, it should be possible to track it even after it has been formated...
    Well, hope someone can help.
    Thanks

You can leave feedback for Apple here: http://www.apple.com/support/feedback/
Also, I haven't heard of an app that you're describing.  I think they should have an option to set a code in order to turn the phone off as well as unlocking it.

  • Accidentally deleted my BBID associated with Anti-theft protection that was still on.

On July 15 I bought $600 BB Passport from a vendor at a popular IT market in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently, Blackberry is completely gone from Thailand, no service provider nor authorized dealer for BB Passport. I accidentally deleted BBID used with Anti-theft protection feature and it was on when this happened. I can't remember exactly how that happened and why it was so easy to delete the BBID without knowing I actually did. I recreated new BBID by using the same email and question for recovery but it did not work as my device won't accept it and kept saying the Anti-theft protection is on. Unfortunately I have tried so many times to put the password associated with the accidentally deleted BBID but it still did not work. Now the BB passport is like an expensive brick to me. I have taken the photo of my old BBID that was deleted. I have my BBM Pin that was set up by using this old BBID. I know the screen name of it, except one thing the password that no matter how I tried it was not accepted to my device. Things got worst when the vendor I bought the device from reformatted my device and i still CANNOT use my new BBID to set up the device. I have no carrier as BB passport is not official to Thailand. Please help i am so desperate. I have been waiting for so long to have this device. I took the risk of knowing that no provider in Thailand. Thank you so much

I might be able to help you some more. If your able to log onto protect.blackberry.comAnd you can see your deviceGo to manage devicesNear the bottom select removeThen log out of Protect web page. Then go back to the device,Enter the password to many times until it wipes clean. If it didn't power off and back on during the wipe then do that first. Now you should be able to log onto the device using your protect.blackberry.com ID and password You should be all set than Unfortunately I don't have an support email for them

  • What is the best anti theft app for an iPod touch

What is the best anti-theft application for an iPod touch? Is there one where I can register the serial number, and then if someone tries to do a hard reset and hook it into iTunes online it will alert me. Is something like that available? Or, can all anti-theft software be overidden with a complete 'hard' reset?
    Thanks,
    John Thompson

There is no app that will prevent some one from stealing and then using your device.  Like Limmos said, wiping the device erases all data and then its just a matter of connecting the device to a computer running iTunes and restoring the device to factory settings and then setting it up as a new device.
In short, once its gone, its gone...

  • Forgot to turn off anti-theft before doing a security wipe

Hi,I am new to this forum and in serious need of help.Last night, i wanted to do a factory reset on my phone.I did not do any back up, instead i imported all important media and documents using the blackberry link. I couldnt get my blackberry ID working so mistakenly "DELETED" the id instead of just asking for a resetBlack berry link has a button for factory reset, which i wanted to do, so i proceed with that and the reset start also. The problem is, I am now stuck on the process of reconfiguring my phone. It is asking for a blackberry username and password which i "deleted" earlier, So i had to resetup my blackberry id only to find out it is no long associated with my phone.whenever i try to use the id and password, it gives an error "The blackberry protect anti-theft feature is on. Please sign in with the blackberry ID used to set up this device"Please advice on how can i resolve this issue.

Unfortunately, you're not in a good situation.  Here is BlackBerry's official word on this issue:
If you purchased your device from ShopBlackBerry, Amazon (US/UK) or the Porsche Design Store, please contact BlackBerry using the details found on our Contact Us page.
    BlackBerry Contact Us > http://blck.by/1MxtqPR
If you purchased your device from a wireless service provider, or a retail store in person, or online, please contact them for assistance.
    When contacting your point of purchase, please have the following prepared;
DO NOT POST THIS INFORMATION IN THESE FORUMS
    -Your BlackBerry ID
-Proof of purchase such as a receipt
-A copy of your wireless bill that shows your phone #
-A copy of your Government issued ID
    Thanks,
So, you will need to contact your provider (assuming you purchased it from them) and have them escalate you to BlackBerry.

  • Intel Anti Theft on X220

    Hi all
i have a brand new X220 i7 that i really like - and would like to keep it to myself! :-)
It is equipped with Intel Anti Theft and i would like to activate it.  As far as i understand, it takes some service provider to activate it and that provider will keep track of the device and send a 'kill-pill' if i request it.
I have contacted Lenovo in Denmark, but they only gave me a link to some company that provide some protection software.
Does anyone know any Intel anti theft service provider in Denmark/Europe??
