Any method of retaining different user sessions in Essbase

Hi,
A question that usually comes to me is suppose you have a person A who locks and sends data values to a cube and another person B who locks and sends different values for the same combination of dimension members, is there any way essbase shows the person A the data he entered and to B the data B entered?
Regards,
Alex Thomas

Result of the case as you described is depend what Isolation Level has set at database level. If could be either 'Committed' or 'UnCommitted' : -
1- Committed Access: - Committed access provides a high level of data consistency because only one transaction at a time can update data blocks. Under committed access, Essbase allows transactions to hold read/write locks on all data blocks involved with the transaction until the transaction completes and commits. However, you can still allow read-only access to the last committed data values.
2- Uncommitted Access: - With uncommitted access (enabled by default), the Essbase kernel allows transactions to hold read/write locks on a block-by-block basis; Essbase releases a block after it is updated but does not commit blocks until the transaction completes or until a specified limit (a “synchronization point”) has been reached. You can set this limit, as described below. Concurrent users accessing the same data blocks might experience unexpected results under uncommitted access, because Essbase allows read-only access to data at its last commit point.

  • Any method to prevent a user login with 1 account, but several machines?

May I ask for your recommendations to prevent a user to login my application with his/her account through different computers?
    Background information:
    1. My application is developed with BC4J framework.
    2. Login details: Once a user's is validated with their user id and password stored in a backend database table, he/she would be granted the right to use my application with a common connection account, as stated with the configuration details specified.
    Here is my solution:
    - When a user login my application, I'll lookup if there is any existing user record in a database table, let say, TBL_CURR_USERS. If no user record is found, the user will be granted the right of launching my applications and have a user record written down in the table TBL_CURR_USERS. If a user record is found, the user will receive an error message - "Your specified account is in use. You are not allowed to enter until your specified account has been logged off."
    - Problem: My problem is - how to trigger the event for removing the record in the table TBL_CURR_USER when user logs out implicity or internet connection interrupts. Let say, when the user close the browser by clicking the 'X' icon, I have nothing to trigger my deletion for the user record in the TBL_CURR_USERS table. If so, in the long term, many users will not be able to use my application until housekeeping is done for the table TBL_CURR_USERS ... what should I do? Any Java solutions or JDeveloper solutions available?
    Thanks for your replying!

I had the same problem and I resolved in a different way. In the application server I have a Set in the context and I add a user when the login is successful and I remove it (I store the user even in the session) when the session expires (I have a session listener) or when the user explicitly logouts.
I don't need table and I don't need to do anything if the application server crashes.
If you don't use connection pooling you could use a logon trigger on the database.
    I hope it helps,
    Giovanni

  • Mounting the same VHDX from 2 simultaneous user sessions?

    Hi,
I need to mount the same VHD or VHDX file from 2 different user sessions. My file is BitLocker-encrypted, NTFS-formatted (I can reformat to an other filesystem if needed). It resides on a network location, a samba share. My scenario is the following:
user #1 logs on and mounts the VHDX file, is prompted for the password
user #2 logs on and mounts the same VHDX file, is also prompted for the password
Is it possible? Both users read/write to the VHDX concurrently. Do VHDX/BitLocker/NTFS support this?
If that doesn't work and if you have any alternate option/approach, please let me know. The VHD/VHDX file holds sensitive data, and is backed up on a regular basis.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Please see the detailed steps mentioned in the following link, it is possible to auto-mount the VHD at startup\logon, but since you have enabled bitlocker, so it's recommended to add a time delay on the task scheduler or script\batch file to first unlock
the bitlocker, then mount the file

  • Different user status profile for network header and activities

    Hi everyone!
Is there any way to define different user status profile at network header level and at network activity level? As far as I know, it is only possible to enter a user profile at network type level, and both netwok headers and activities use the same statuses. Does it work this way?
    Thanks!
    Regards.
Edited by: Thalos on Jul 2, 2011 12:27 AM

    Hi Punith, Hi abdul!
    Thanks for the reply!
I've gone through the OPSC, but the thing is that here you define a user status profile at network plant level. But I need to define it at network activity level.
The reason why I need this is because we have types of activities. We use network activities for client activities, for internal activities, to identify and follow-up risk management, etc. Each group of activities -since they have different usages- has different user status associated. But as I don't have any way to assign different user status profiles, all the activities have the same statuses, although  they will only use some of them.
    Thanks!

    Thalos.

  • RDS2012R2 User Printers Showing Up In All User Sessions

    Hi There,
I'm having a rather odd and annoying issues with our client's RDS servers and some printers. Some users printers seem to 'bleed' to all other users sessions.
Printers are all configured on the same print server and are shared out from there. Onsite IT then manually add printers to users sessions as they need them.
However, for some reason some printers are showing up in all user sessions, which is causing Devices and Printers to show 2 and 3 of the same printers installed. I'm logged into the server as my domain admin account and I have no printers installed under
my profile (other than XPS/Onenote/cutePDF as these are local printers), yet as you can see from the below screenshot, all the printers highlighted in blue show up, and these show for all users.
When I try to remove these printers one of a few things happens:
Nothing. The printer does not remove and it just stays there.
It disappears for a second and then reappears at the end of the list.
It disappears for a few minutes and then reappears on its own.
Interestingly enough, these printers come and go on their own through out the day and it appears to be related to user logons, but I've been unable to narrow down what users are causing what printers to appear for all users.
Printer redirection is turned off so cannot be the cause.
How is such a thing even possible given that if the printer was installed as an admin, then it would show up all the time and removing it would actually remove the printer and user printers are meant to stick to that users sessions.
And more importantly, how do I resolve this annoying issue as it is confusing users when they have multiple printers to print to of the same type.

    Hello all,
i have a strange problem like MachTesseract in
    RDS2012.
Users have 4 shared network printer from a spooler server; any printer is mapped in users session.
When user logon or logoff in RDS session in admin session appair other 4 olds  printers that after are present in all users session. In user session these printer cannot be deleted (ask username and password from administrator). If  i delete these
printer from administrator session these disappair in all user session, but next time user logon or logoff appair in RDS admin session again and after in all user session
I think that these 4 printer are old setting printer mapped in admin session; i have done reboot RDS server but problem remain.
If i delete 4 printer in admin session and after restart spooler in RDS server  these 4 printer are again mapped (like when user make logon or logoff) in admin session and any user session.
I have disable gpo for mapping and in any user session i mapped all 4 printer; but if user logon or logoff old 4 printer mapped in admin session reappair. I think there is a automap at login or logoff user session for deleted printer mapped in RDS server
    in admin session
Can anyone have any idea for this problem?
Thanks in advance for any support.

  • Open a new peoplesoft session with different user id and password.

I am already logged in a peoplesoft session. From here i want to open another peoplesoft session (in different window) with different user and password.
    Can anybody help...?

The problem you're going to have with this is that in PeopleSoft there are some memory-resident cookies in your browser session that identify your session (jsessionid) to the web server and your identity (PSTOKEN) to the PeopleSoft servlets. With tabbed browsers (Firefox, IE7+) you have to do some "special" things to get them to create multiple browser sessions with distinct cookies.
For Firefox, you have to create a distinct profile. Do this by closing down firefox and running "firefox -ProfileManager" from the command line. Then you can create a second firefox profile (note: it won't inherit any of your bookmarks or add-ins from the existing profile). Then after starting firefox with your default profile, you can start a second instance of firefox with the command line "firefox -p <mynewprofile> -no-remote. This will start a second instance of firefox with it's own cookies that can independently log in to a second PeopleSoft system
For IE7 or IE8, it's a little easier. Start your first browser session as normal, and then to start the second session, use the commandline "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -new. This will start your second browser instance with a new set of cookies.
    Hope it helps.

  • With XP, with three different user accounts, is it possible to download Firefox 4 to one user and retain Firefox 3 on another, for a learning period?

We are running XP, and have 3 different user accounts on one desktop. We are very excited by the Firefox4 features, but one user has much less comfort with changes, and doesn't want to lose browsing comfort in 3 before he has a chance to get used to using 4. May take a while....
Is there any way to download Firefox 4, perhaps into a new location. Or a new user account. And use this as a 'teaching tool' while still retaining 3?
Or can we upgrade to 4, redownload a version of 3, and import that user's previous bookmarks to the new download of 3, until we get him comfortable.
The answer is probably no. But if there is a creative way to do this, without another computer available, that would be great. If not, we upgrade and deal with the frustration and whining here.... 4 is too good to pass up.
    Ideas?
    Linda

When you install Firefox 4, choose the custom installation option and change the location where Firefox is installed. You will then have 2 versions of Firefox installed.
As you have different user accounts, each user will have their own Firefox profile (location where bookmarks, passwords, etc are stored). You should not switch between different versions of Firefox with the same user profile. For those that want to use Firefox 4, just make sure you use a Firefox shortcut that opens Firefox 4, likewise for the person who wants to stay with Firefox 3, just keep their original Firefox shortcut and it should open the old version.

  • Hi I have two questions. I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users? How is the session timeout set? Thanks, YS

<i>I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users?</i>
Um, there is no such thing as NAS4.1.
I'm assuming that you mean NAS4.0 (maybe NAS4.0sp1?). If so, then the session timeouts are specified in the session section of the NTV configuration files.
AFAIK, you can specify session timeouts on a per user basis.

I updated to OS X Yosemite but iPhoto will not download, is saying because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. Now I cannot access ANY of my photos...how can I fix this????

If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If that does not resolve contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

  • How to store jsp session data of different user in util.hashmap

how to store jsp session data of different user in java.util.hashmap
and access the data of all user on the server side
The same example is given in professional jsp but its not working.
I can use getIds() of httpsessioncontext but it's depricated

    Hi
I'm trying to make an example.
With the following codes you can get the date from the session.
    request.getSession().getAttribute("sessionname")
To store it in a hashmap you could do it like this ->
    Hashmap hm = new Hashmap();
    hm.put(Object key, request.getSession().getAttribute("sessionname"));
I hope you understand it if not just write it!

I don't believe you can timeout a session based on a user or a role. I think
    you can just specify when
all sessions timeout (via the session descriptor). But, you may want to ask
    in the weblogic.developer.interest.servlet newsgroup.

  • How to know if user (session) is authenticated in other application (SSO)

    Hi folks!
We've deployed various J2EE applications in some OC4J instances. So far the applications used SSO Authentication against OiD (LDAP), but we need a public access application.
The problem is the following: we need a different behaviour in this last application (without authentication characteristics) depending on one user is authenticated within other application that required SSO login.
How could check if current user (session) si authenticated against SSO, for example, in ADF-STRUTS DataAction class?
We tested the gerRemoteUser() method but is only works within the applications requering login.
    Please, anyone could guide me?
    Mike
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Oracle AS Single Sign ON stores some of the attributes of an authenticated user in a browser cookie - the name of the Cookie is SSO_ID.
You cannot get any information from this Cookie. The Cookie is avaliable only to the Oracle AS Single Sign ON and is meant to be used only by it. You cannot read any useful information from the Cookie as it is higly encrypted.
If you need to know the name of the currently logged in user, your application should be a Partner Application or an External Applciation to Oracle AS Single Sign On.
The reason is simple - you can use your browser to connect to many Websites protected by Oracle AS Single Sign ON. Thus, if your application isn't a Partner or an External Application registered with SSO, your application can't establish a context.
Hence, your application needs to be registered as a Partner Application or an External Application with SSO.
An application which is nto registered with SSO cannot get the User information from SSO. The getRemoteUser() method would always return a null in such cases.

  • CL_GUI_HTML_VIEWER need to open a different Browser session if one exists

    Hi All,
I'm using the class  cl_gui_html_viewer for displaying a PDF in My program. However, if an Internet Explorer Session is already open, the HTLM_VIEWER created in my program is behaving more like a child of the already open browser (In other words, it works like pressing CTRL+N on the original window). But my requirement is to open a new Browser session altogether (Like Opening up another Internet Explorer Session).
The reason i need to have this is because the PDF i display is based on an authenticated login. If a person is already logged in through the Stand alone IE browser, my program should not allow the same user to view it in the browser but authenticate again by prompting for a login. This is achieved by using different Browser sessions (not by CTRL+N).
Please let me know if you have any thoughts on achieving this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jr.

where is this PDf coming from, is it from external source thru a url? can you pass uid/pwd to this PDF via url,
if yes, pass a wrong uid/pwd thru the url , every time you load the pdf, in the html viewer control, this would always prompt for authntication box. other option is to delete the sso2 cookie,  you need to find a method to delete the cookie in your local machine created by calling this pdf from standalone browser.
