I have used GUI_DOWNLOAD function module to download an internal table to excel format.

And I am able to successfully download the excel file but the problem occurs when I try to open the file.
System throws the warning "The file you are trying to open, '[filename]', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
And if I click yes, it correctly displays the excel file.
I want to get rid of this warning. Is there any way I can code so that this warning does not occur. Kindly advise.

Currently we have a alv grid report, but my user requirement is he want this alv grid output to be mailed to his mail id in excel format.
some times data may be huge of about 8000 - 10,000 lines.
is it possiable.

       (2) Move the all internal table in one final internl table.
       (3) Using 'WS_DOWNLOAD' Fm you can download the final internal table in excel format.

I already explained this in another post. Anyway i will cut and paste the same for you.Here you go.Sample way to create a Excel file and then download it to a local pc using a FileUI Download element.
We are developing a generic component for the same requirement which will download data to a excel from any table.
Anyway here is something which will give you some kind of idea as to how you can write the data from WebDynpro to a excel file.
For running this application
Ensure that the requisite JAR files are set for the Excel API's. See the blog link below.
Steps :
All your files in the machine running the WAS will be created in the default location
Alias : webdynpro/resources
Path : <Drive>:/usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/temp/webdynpro/web
You can open your Visual Administrator and go to HTTP provider service and then create your own Alias. say
Alias : myAlias
Path : <Drive>:/mydirectory/myfiles
Once this is done restart your WebAS.
The code explained will perform the following.
There is a button UI element and a Download UI element. On click of the Action associated with the button ui element
The code below will create a excel file in the location mentioned.
On click of the download UI element you can view the excel file that was created.
Now create a New project in your NWDS
Follow the blog for importing the necessary jar files for Excel

You can now add a Download UI Element to the layout.
Create a Context Attribute say "dataContent" and this should be of Type Binary.
The Data property of the File UI download element should be mapped to dataContent.
In the init method write code like

instead do the following

and then change the file name extension from xls to csv. it should open properly in excel.
Note that this is only excel csv file. if you want a proper excel excel file, then
option one: build a html table with your data into a string and pass it to excel
option 2: build excel xml using your data into a string and pass it to excel.

Automatically mailing the table data in excel format in ADF

Hi ,
I am new to ADF and I have a requirement where i need to send a mail on button click with an attachment of the table data in a excel format. There are two requirements here :
1) If we take an example of EMP and Dept tables , a mail should be sent to the dept head with the table data of employees in individual sheets in a excel format.
2) Here in Adf we have DownloadActionListener and exportCollectionActionListener components but we need to manually click on the save button to save the data in particular place and then again we need to send the mail from javaMail. So is their and way that we can do all these actions in one button click .
could you please guide me on this .

User, please always tell us which jdev version you use (or want to use in the future).
1) I would suggest to use poi.apache.org for the expport as it allows you better control over which data is exported and it allows you the generate native excel format
2) you can execute more then one action from a button click. In a bean you can first generate the data to export and then queue an action which then calls the file download listener. i have a requirement where i need to download the internal table data in excel format .. I tried using the FM SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT but this downloads to excel sheet same as .txt file foemat without columns ... i need to have the data in excel sheet with column heading and separated by each coulmn which should be similar as a general sheet with column names and the respective data in the columns . Appreciate any inputs .

you can this in Debugging mode,
say,once you got entire data into ITAB
salect the TABLE option and provide the table name
now on the top most you can see excel icon,you click
on that,now system will prompts you for to the file to be saved.

Yes you can. (you can create your own XML formatted Excel file. The details of how the file needs to be formatted are publicly available. This info is not specific to SAP so you'd probably find better resources outside of SCN.)
Is there an SAP standard API to do this? - no, not currently.
However, the abap2xlsx community code is working to build a freely available API to do this. you might want to check out their site, wiki, blog.
I don't think it currently supports images, but that is certainly planned.

Currently i have a question for upload a file of excel format, I can just convert the file of excel format to text format first. Then it would be OK.
As we all know, Frequently,The users would always like to provide the excel format to us. Thus, Is there any solutions directly uploaded the file of Excel format into database for web dynpro for ABAP? Not web dynpro for Java.
