APO and minimum safty stock

Hello,
in R/3 we maintain for some products the minimum safty stock field.
Is it within the standrd possible to get this field over to APO. I saw there a field min safty stock but it's still empty.
kind regards,
Bernhard

Hi Bernard,
This field is used as a check criterion for the safety stock value to be maintained in the material master. If the safety stock maintained is lower than this value, then it updates the safety stock to this value in material master. As safety stock is transferred to APO as SB method then this minimum safety stock value ensures that atleast this value is  taken into consideration during planning.
Let me know if it helps.

  • Need to send a mail while safty stock goes down

    Dear experts,
I Need to send a mail to concern persion while stock goes down from safty stock. We plan to put a check at the point of MARD table updation, Because we not able to put a check at the all transaction codes, So please LET ME KNOW HOW TO PUT A CHECK AT STANDARD TABLE UPDATION?
    Thanks in adv,
    jayakumar.M

    Hi Jai,
    According to my understanding,
As soon as the stock goes down from the safety stock a mail should be triggered.
    Probable solution (in my opinion)
create a flag in the table set it whenever the stock value goes down.
make calculations like (safety stock as today - safety stock previous date) = 0 if not set the flag and construct a workflow withe receiver settings based on the flag field and trigger a mail to the concerned person.
    This is just my idea.
    Try it and revert

  • Safty stock calculation

    Dear all,
I have a querry regrding the Safty stock calculation.
I want system to consider the customer to whom I am issueing the material while calculating the safty stock.
to be precise I dont want to consider the consuption made towards whole sale dealers and want to consider only service customer consumption.
But as long as forecasting is concern I need to consider all the consuptions.
this is required to keep my safety stock qty as low as possible.
    Regards
Edited by: Donsandy on Jan 12, 2009 4:16 PM

    Hi,
This is not possible using auto-safety stock calculation, as the calculation is based on all consumptions not just customer specific data.
Safety stock is based on 4 factors that could affect the idealistic procurement pattern:
    1. Ordering Lead-time.
    2. Manufacuring Lead-time
    3. Transporting Lead-time
    4. Stock conversion Lead-time (or Quality Inspection lead time)
A delay in any or all of the above can have effect on the entire replenishment process and the stock. A buffer stock must be designed to take into account the above coverage. Again the determination of your safety stock depends on the accuracy of your forecast. Higher your accuracy, lower your safety stock.
This relationship between forecast accuracy and service level is denoted by factor R. This also takes into account that the customer demand cannot be always satisfied 100% of the time.
    Hence what we have is:
R = Relationship between forecast accuracy and service level (Service Factor)
W = Delivery time (in days) / Forecast Period (in days)
MAD = Mean absolute deviation (parameter for forecast accuracy)
Now If replenishment lead time is greater than the forecast period by factor W then:
    Safety Stock = R x Sq.rt. W x MAD
    Else
    Safety Stock = R x W x MAD
So in other words, to control your safety stock effectively you need to maintain the service level. Lower the service level, lower your safety stock.
    Thanks.

  • Minimum & maximum stock for Material

    Hi Team,
Here my client required to keep his stock in the form of Minimum & maximum stock for Material.
Let me explain with an example.
    Material =Pen
In Stock it should be always 5 & maximum 10, when it falls below 4 it should generate PR & should not cross maximum limit 10.
if in stock 3 pens r there it should generate PR for 7 , If 4 then PR for 6
Please help me for it ASAP.
    Regards
    Mahantesh

    Hi Mahantesh,
For this you need to maintain below settings in material master for your material.
    In MRP1 view,
    Define MRP Type: V1
    Define Reorder Point: 5
    Define MRP Controller:
Lot Size: HB (Replenish to max. stock)
    Define Maximum stock level: 10
After this material master settings in MRP 1 view, test the results by running MRP for the material.
Keep the stock at different levels like 3, 4 and 6 for the material before MRP run.
You will get the results as per your business requirements.

  • Dangerous APO and BI Transaction codes

    Hi experts,
I have question Dangerous APO and  Transaction codes
    Background :
We are in the process of implementing SOX controls for the new APO and BI Systems
    Questions :
What are the Dangerous APO Transaction codes which should not be assigned to any one in Production system
What are the Dangerous BI Transaction codes which should not be assigned to any one in Production system
    Additional Notes
    System which we are having
    APO
    Version  : SCM 5.0
    BI
    Version : BI 7.0

    Praveen,
I am a puzzled that you would ask such a question.
Authorizations ALWAYS derive from requirements.  In this case, Sarbanes-Oxley speaks of control mechanisms.  Your SOX auditors should tell you what they consider to be critical, and they should advise the client company as to which transactions should be controlled, and how best to control them.
There is no transaction that should be disallowed to everyone.  That would eventually make the system unusable.  The question is, "how many people should have these critical transactions, and how should the execution of these transactions be monitored and controlled".
Generally, the APO portion of SCM should require less SOX controls than ERP, since APO is mostly a planning system, and not an execution system (there are some exceptions here though).  Likewise, the BI portion of SCM usually contains no financial reports, and therefore should have relaxed controls over, say, the main BI instance used by your company.
Don't make the mistake of strangling yourself to satisfy your perception of what you think an auditor may require.  Make them tell you the minimum requirements for compliance.  Anything beyond minimum compliance with SOX is costly.  This question is then a matter of your company's policies.  I usually vote for 'no additional restrictions' (but my poor vote doesn't usually count for much).

  • MRP order multiple and minimum order qty

    Hello
I am running MRP for one item with minimum stock level 20, in house qty 1, order multiple 12 and minimum order qty 20
the MRP return the figure 19 to order, when it should be 24 taking into account order multiple and minimum order qty...
    Could you explain me why
    we run SBO B1 2007 SP00 PL49

    Hi,
This is the definition of your questions:
Order Multiple u2013 you can set a multiplication factor for ordering the item e.g. in
case you define 5 in this field and14 items are required, the MRP will recommend to
order 15 items (3X5=15). If 18 items are required, the recommendation will be to
    order 20 items (4X5).
Minimum Order Qty u2013 you can type a minimum quantity for ordering items by the MRP.
The planning data is apply when there is a requirement (sales order, forecast, production orders (for the child item) and reserve invoice.

  • Make to order and make to stock scenarios in prodcut costing

    Dear Co Experts,
I am new to product costing, in product costing there are two way to estimate the cost of the product by using make to stock and make to order.
Kindly tell me the scenario of make to order and make to stock
In make to order scenario what are the minimum configuration steps are required in controlling, PP, MM, and SD.
In make to stock scenario what are the minimum configuration steps are required in controlling, PP, MM, and SD.
How we will defend the costing variant in make to order scenario
I really appreciate for your early response
pls tell me end to end cycle for both the scenarios

    Hi
In Cost Planning in Product Costing,We configure Cost variant
Costing variant is a A tool that contains all control parameters for costing, including
parameters that control how cost estimates are executed and the material
prices or activity prices that are used to valuate the costing items.
In Cost Object Controlling  category a)by order b)by period c) sale order
    a) BY Order,We create Co Production Order which will be used in Make To Order Production.
    b) By Period,We create Product Cost Collector which will be used in Make To Stock or Repetitive Manufacturing
    c) By Sale Order,We create sale order with linked to Co production order,We can use Make To Order Scenario.

  • APO and TSW

Please explain to me how APO and TWS are integrated.  I realize that APO contains a planning book specific to TSW.  My uncertainty is more around how TSW and APO interacts.  Does TSW and APO do the same thing and is only separated by the time fences or planning horizons?

    Trader's and Scheduler's Workbench (TSW)
The following functions are available for the oil and gas industry:
o additional types of location master data
    o product planning book
o object hierarchy control for hierarchical selection
o SD contract numbers as descriptive characteristics in Demand Planning (DP) and Supply Network
    Planning (SNP)
o enhanced Transport Planning and Vehicle Scheduling (TPVS) functions
Additional Types of Location Master Data
APO TSW provides two new types of location master data, called terminal location and geographic area
location. You can use these location types in location hierarchies. The hierarchies are used in SNP, which
includes the TSW stock projection worksheet, as well as in TSW enhancements to TPVS.
    Product Planning Book
A new planning book, called 9ATSW_SPW1 with data view TSW_SPW1(1) is available for the TSW stock
projection worksheet (SPW). The planning book contains enhancements specific to oil and gas, and it
provides a framework for daily and weekly product planning.
The planning book calculates and displays the value of book stock that is transferred from the R/3 System in
the row Book stock. If this figure is negative, it appears in the row Book backlog. To calculate the Stock on
hand and Backlog column values, the planning book adds the What if receipt and the Book stock or Book
backlog values, and subtracts the critical stock level (such as the unpumpable quantity defined in the
location product master data) and the What if demand values from this figure. The planning book contains a
    function for calculating these values.

  • Approval hierarchy to issue Minimum safety stock

    Hi Guys,
We have a requirement to have an automated approval hierarchy for issuing the inventory below a safety stock limit defined. How can we achieve that. I know that there is some option as "minimum safety stock" in SAP, but we need that a workfklow to be activated when the stock reaches to this level and only after approval it should be allowd to be issued. Is it possible to implement?

    Hi,
There is no approval concept in this case. But you may check the below work around, Activate availability check for the material. Then you may maintain the message  M7181 as user specific and maintain it as error message for the users who are NOT supposed to issue the goods below the safety stock. Refer the thread: message to be make error for specific user id
You may create a program to find the materials with stock equal to safety stock and send the result. You may schedule the job in background with specific interval.  Also refer the thread: Material alert workflow

  • Safety stock and min safety stock

    Dear all,
CAn anybody explain me the functional difference between safety stock and min safety stock?
And what is the meanng of safety time?
    Karthick

    Hi,
    Safety Stock:
The quantity of stock to satisfy high requirements. The purpose of the safety stock is to prevent material shortage.
Safety stock as the name suggest is the stock level till which the dead stock or stock out situation will not arise (probable figure based on past data maintained in master).
As such this figure is not stock, it is cut-off figure maintained in master which is used for Planning and once the stock level dips below this value, you can configure system to generate PR, orders automatically. It has its relevance in MRP and CBP.
Safety stock is not used in production.
    Minimum Safety Stock
The quantity that defines the lower limit for safety stock. This value cannot be exceeded.
The safety is checked to see if it is greater or equal to this lower limit.
The lower limit is checked if you use an availability indicator which shows, according to customizing settings, if the safety stock is to be calculated again in a forecast. If the safety stock is lower than this level in forecasting, the safety stock is automatically increased to the value of the lower level.
The safety stock must always be greater or equal to this lower level (minimum safety stock)
Hope this will help help you.

    Pavan

  • GATP in APO and Free Goods Pricing Records in R/3

We have set up Free Goods in SAP R/3. These free goods are granted based upon a series of access sequences in pricing.
We also have our Order Entry system using GATP on our APO box. In that APO instance, we have set up a large number of product substitutions to occur at order time.
When an item is ordered that is NOT subbed to different item by APO and that item has Free Goods associated with it, the Free Goods are granted by R/3 and placed onto the sales order.
When an item is ordered that IS subbed to different item by APO and that item has Free Goods associated with it, the Free Goods are NOT granted by R/3.
Why are the Free Goods being ignored after the substitution? We have Free Goods records in pricing for BOTH items, and neither one is granting the Free Goods.
Is this a bug, a feature, or an oversight ?
Any help in this area will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

    Hi John,
GATP in APO does not supports Free Goods.

  • Delivered qty and put in stock qty not updated after GR reversal

    Hi,
We encountered a strange issue while making a 102 movement for a production order.
    Planned order qty  - X
    Production order qty  - X+Y
    Confirmed Qty  - X
GR posted for Splits of Qty X
    GR Posted for Qty Y
At this time Quantities in Production shows like
    Planned Order   X
    Order               X+Y
    Delivered          X+Y
    Commited        X
As wrong posting has been done for Qty Y, GR reversal has been carried for Y. After Reversal
Deliveried Qty and Put in Stock qty still shows X+Y.
This is an issue as settlement can not done as it has difference in quantities. This issue was nver observed earlier.
Looked for any available SAP note for this issue and couldn't get one. Any help to fix this issue or reference to any SAP note is appreciated.
