APO DP - use of parallelisation profiles

I am using APO DP V5.
Has anyone any experience of using parallelisation profiles (/sapapo/sdp_par) to speed up job processing times?
What is the recommended number of parallel processes?
Thanks,
Bob Austin, Atos Origin

Yes we have used it in our projects for improvement of processing time..
Depend on the data volume of each applications, we have maintaied the block size
Parallele processing is always useful for the huge data to be process in Background.
To improve the performance of such background jobs it is often advisable to run these jobs in several parallel processes
By using parallel processing you no longer have to split jobs into smaller units
Parallele Processing Profile Attributes:
If you see in the Process field max you can maintain 9999
Block Location Product :If you do not specify a block size, the program uses a block size of 20,000 as the default value.
e.g. of block size
You want to copy 13,000 location products and have chosen a block size of 5,000. The program starts three parallel work processes. 5,000 location products are copied in the first and second work processes, and 3,000 are copied in the third.
Block Size Peging area:
If you do not specify a block size, the program uses a block size of 10,000 pegging areas as the default value.
e.g.: You want to copy 13,000 pegging areas and have chosen a block size of 5,000. The program starts three parallel work processes. 5,000 pegging areas are copied in the first and second work processes, and 3,000 are copied in the third.
Block Size Orders:If you do not specify a block size, the system uses a block size of 500 orders as the default value.
Block Size Stock:If you do not specify a block size, the program uses a block size of 1000 stocks as the default value.
No Order Serialization:When orders are copied in parallel, serialization effects can occur in liveCache due to locks. This means that order posting can be executed one after another in liveCache due to locks, although the program has started the work processes in parallel.
If you set this indicator, serialization of orders does not occur, but the orders are actually processed in parallel. You can thereby improve performance when copying orders.
Block size : The number of elements processed in one process. The data objects that correspond to these elements differ from application to application
Maximum number of parallel processes :
Since one process is required for control purposes, the smallest entry in this field that results in performance improvements is 3.
You can assign a server group to the profile so that the system only uses particular servers parallel processing. Other servers can then be ‘reserved’ for users working online. You cannot create these server groups yourself; contact your system administration if you require new groups.
You can also define the block size. There are minimum and maximum value for each application in the system. If you make no entry, the system uses a default value that is defined for each application.
Note: It is advisable : Although it is technically possible, working with parallel processing with a dialog job(online execution) is not advisable. In this case the main process, which controls the parallel work processes, is a dialog process. For various technical reasons this can lead to a noticeable deterioration in performance.

  • Follow up task without using the action profile

    Hi,
Is it possible to create the follow up task without using the action profile? If so, please let me know how we can do that?
as per the requirements, i have to the custom coding that will automatically create follow-on task triggered by status change on the all the transaction type. Please guide me how can we do that.
Task details (task id, description), I'm reading it from the custom table.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Naresh for the response.
Not sure if I can use the CRMV_EVENT. Even I'm not aware how to use that. Let me tell what i am doing in the logic.
    - implementing the logic in the badi order_save (method - CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE)
    - get the header and item details using the FM CRM_ORDER_READ.
    - get the status of header / item from the output of CRM_ORDER_READ.
    - compare the status with the custom table (having info of hearder type, item type, status, tast id, task description etc)
    - if status is different, create the task using the details from the custom table.
now i want to write the logic to implement the last step. Do we have any standard FM where I can pass the task ID and it will create the task? Please help.

  • How do I use the same profile for two users on the same computer

I use my laptop both at home and at work. And in each venue I use a different user log on. But I wish to have firefox use the same profile for each user log on. How can I get firefox to point to the same profile for each user?

Note that only one user (Firefox instance) can use a profile folder at the time, so if you would switch the Windows user to another account then you would first have to close Firefox.

  • How can I use two "Status profile" for two categories of users?

    Hi friends,
I tried to configure two categories of users :
1 - First category (User1) can process the message and access to the standard Status profile (SLFC0001),
2 - The second category (User2) can process the message using another status profile (ZSLFC001).
To do this, i process like following :
1 - I created ZSLFN autorization key by copying of SLFN (Tcode :BS52).
    2 - I created the Status Profile "ZSLFC001" by coping the SLFC0001(TCode : CRMBS02).
3 - I suppress some user status (ex : send to sap) and I replace SLFN autorization key by "ZSLFN"
4 - I created Transation type "ZLFN" assigned to ZSLFC001 status profile.
5 - I created a ZSAP_SUPPDESK_PROCESS rôle and I set the ZSLFN as authorization key in "B_USERST_T" and in "B_USERSTAT". This role is affected to the User2
Unfortunately, the User2 see and access to the "Send to SAP" user status. I think that the status profile ZSLFC001 is not used!!!
    Tank you for your help,

    Hello Xavier,
I changed the Process Type in DNO_CUST04, and I had a error message : "The system could not create the message because of an RFC connection "NONE " error Message was not created".
Furthermore, The change of process type will affect all users.
I think that there are two possibilities :
    - Using process type (SLFN or ZLFN) according to the user processor,
    - or using the same process type (SLFN) and according to the processor to load the appropriate "status profile".
Please find below more informations about the role:

  • How to choose witch window will open external links when using multiple Firefox profiles at the same time?

I am using 2 firefox profiles at the same, one for working and another for reading news. I start them with "firefox -no-remote -P profilename", so there are 2 firefox processes running.
It works well, but when I click a link in an external app (like in Google Talk), the link is opened in the first firefox process I launched. I mean, if I ran the "news" firefox first, it will always open the external links.
Is it possible to change this behavior? I'd like all external windows to be opened in the "news" firefox, never in the "working". Of course I'll achieve that if I open it first, but if I first run the "news", then the "working", then I close the news for any reason, now links will always open in the "working" until I close it.
    I running linux (opensuse 11.3).

    '''traysh''',
Profiles '''''period''''' are "unsupported" by Mozilla. Profiles are "there" but the developers want no part of non-developers using them or fixing anything related to Profiles that has been suggested in a Bug report, or documenting much related to Profiles. Profiles as we know them now are going to disappear from Firefox in the near future, although no specific version number or date has been fixed for that to happen. It is up to us user's to share our experiences with Profiles with other user's. I'm a relative noob to Linux, and all my experience with running multiple Profiles and -no-remote is with Windows OS's.
    '''cor-el''',
So are you saying that on Linux external links will only open in the first Profile that was opened if multiple Profiles are running?
And that external links won't open a Profile that isn't already running - if any Profile is already running?
''I wish the differences between Windows and Linux as far as '''-no-remote''' and running multiple Profiles were better documented for "us" Linux noobs over at the MozillaZine KnowledgeBase - hint. Unless I am not looking hard enough in the MZ KB for that information....''

  • Server 2012 R2 VDI with profile disks not using domain default profile

I'm testing a VDI environment running on Windows Server 2012 R2. The VMs in the pool are running Windows 7.
I've enabled profile disks for my test pool. I also have a domain default profile (stored under netlogon) that is used when creating profiles for new users.
I've found that when a new user logs into the VDI pool, the domain default user profile is not being used to create the new profile. Can this be changed?

    Hi,
I also have a domain default profile (stored under netlogon) that is used when creating profiles for new users.
Place default profile under netlogon share doesn’t enable users to use it as their default user profiles, which only shares the profile contents to users who have access permissions.
If you want to customize default user profile, please refer to this article below:

  • How to use the selection profile and status profile for production order?

    Hi expert,
I want to know how to use the selection profile and status profile for production order. what's the usage for these two selection profile and status profile ?
      Please help me.
      thanks in advance.
      george.shi

    Hi George,
There are are two types of statuses. One is system status and second one is user status. These statuses will tell us current situation of an order.
We can't change system statuses. But we can create our own statuses through status profile. With this profile we can control user statuses.
    In this status profile,
1.We define the sequence in which user statuses can be activated,
    2.We define initial statuses
    3. Allow or prohibit certain business transactions.
Selection profiles are used to select the objects (say production orders) with different status combinations. We assign status profiles to selection profiles in BS42 T-Code.
    Regards,
    Raja.

  • Use of SQL Profiles where each schema has very different data distribution and volumes

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    CORE    11.2.0.3.0      Production
TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
Our architecture has multiple client schemas in the same database. Each schema has the same code base (tables, procedures etc) but each client's data is very different in terms of volumes and skew/distribution per table. This architecture was done based on cost - I know it's not ideal but it can't change.....
I am fairly seasoned with performance management and so know the usual tricks of when to eat up the table using parallel full table scans etc. I couldn't further optimise a given stmt for our largest table. I'll call it TSPCI and it has monthly partitions (2 years) and totals about 35Gb in the largest client schema.
Anyway, I was surprised when ADDM suggested that I could achieve 98% improvement if I were to use a given SQL Profile. Great?
So, here's my issue - I've found that the same SQL_ID is shared across all those different client schemas: I can't see how to get it to pick/use the SQL Profile in only a particular client schema - let's call it NEX - and not in another (lets call it COL).
If I generate a SQL Profile as NEX, has it analysed and built the SQL Profile based on the NEX schema and is it therefore invalid/undesirable to have that SQL Profile used in the COL schema??
I suppose that I could add a small change (say /*+ NEX */) to the SQL in the NEX schema to make the given sql unique there and then generate a SQL Profile for that..........
    What am I missing here?

Well, I can confirm the behaviour: accept a SQL Profile for a given SQL in one schema and verified that it is used in another schema (where the data volume and distribution is very different).
I can also confirm the workaround - simply add a hint to the SQL to make it unique such that I could use different sql profiles for the otherwise exact same sql in different schemas.
I'm happy enough with this workaround but I'll leave this thread unanswered in case someone can suggest a better approach.

  • Using Flex Performance Profiler for Profiling Flex  with Java Applications

Hi , I am planning to use Flex Profiler to profile my Application .
I have developed a sample Application using Flex MXML ,some ActionScript classes for Events and Cairngorm , Java , Oracle as database and Blazeds .
Can i use Flex Performance Profiler to Profile my Application . ?? I am asking this question as i ad read the below line from Adobe site and My Application includes java Methods
"You can use the profiler to profile ActionScript 3.0 applications " Can anybody please tell me What does this mean ?? and can i use the Flex Performnace Profiler . Please suggets me .

Thanks Karl for the prompt response .
I am making a call to a Java Method from my Action Script function , or getting data from Java Method into the ActionScript function .
So my question  is , will the Flex Profiler will be applicable in this case as it internally calls Java Methods .

  • The Use of Port Profiles

My understanding of the uses of port profiles includes the implementation of Nexus 1K/5K etc. and the implementation of VM-FEX correct? These port profiles are then pushed to vCenter to be used by the VM's offloading the networking portion back to UCSM and not the VM admin... Is this correct?

N1k/N5k/UCS VM-FEX port-profiles are used by both the network & VMware administrator.  The network administrator creates the port-profile & assigns properties (VLAN, QoS, ACL, etc) - available features differ on each product with N1k offering the most features.  After the the port-profile is create it is automatically advertised in vCenter.  The vCenter admin then assigns port-profiles to VM interfaces and vmnics.  This essentially separates the network & system admin roles so that each person concentrates on their area of expertise.
Port-profiles are also available on standalone N5k/N7k to be used at interface templates when not integrating with VMware.

  • Lightroom not using the Monitor Profile

I have recently set up a new computer with a new monitor. When I got PS and Lightroom set up on the new system I noticed that when viewing photos in both applications the colors are VERY different compared to how they look viewed online or in another photo viewer from my desktop (windows 8). I also noticed that when I opened PS I got a message saying that the Monitor Profile is "bad" and I could opt out to ignore the profile. When I did ignore it the color looks fine. Blacks are black, gray's are gray, etc . . . Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way I can have Lightroom ignore the profile as well. I have a monitor calibrator and I will try that, but I am wondering if it will do anything only because other applications look fine. Hope someone can shed some light on this!

First of all, Photoshop and Lightroom are fully color managed applications that will actually use the monitor profile to display the image. Many other applications (viewers/browsers) are not and will just ignore it. So there's a difference right there.
That said, when you get that message in Photoshop, it means exactly what it says. That profile is bad and should not be used.
The real solution is to use a calibrator to make a new custom profile for your monitor. Until you get that up and running, use sRGB IEC61966-22.1 as monitor profile. You set this up in Control Panel > Color Management > Devices:

  • I have been having a issue with getting the colors on my monitor to match the colors fro my print lab. I now have the monitor calibrated to match the prints but when I open elements it doesn't use the same colors. If i have it use the calibrated profile b

I have been having a issue with getting the colors on my monitor to match the colors fro my print lab. I now have the monitor calibrated to match the prints but when I open elements it doesn't use the same colors. If i have it use the calibrated profile by changing the color management settings, the color picker no longer shows true white or black. How do I get elements 12 to honor the new calibrated settings?

Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
    Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
    It says ;
    Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
    Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
    Continuing...
    And stops ...
Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-)

  • Using the Same Profile for Outlook Connector and Exchange

Is anyone using the same profile in Outlook for both the Oracle Connector for Outlook and Exchange server? Only Exchange would have an IMAP mail service defined.
Oracle tech support kindly provided me with the following information but I would really appreciate hearing about customer experiences:
"In theory this should work without causing any problem if only one service within the same Profile is configured for mail. However, before configuring a large amount of users with such a configuration, please start with 1 user and perform some tests, as I am not aware of anyone using such a configuration. The fact that you want your Oracle calendar users to invite Exchange users, will be like inviting External users, the Free/Busy information for these users will not be available etc. Also inviting external user is an already existing feature of the Oracle Calendar."
    Thanks very much.
    Brenda

We are doing it currently as we are switching over from Exchange 5.5 to OCS. We set up a profile using the Oracle connector and then go into properties and add the Exchange account. We used this method to move files from the Exchange server to the Oracle server by having both profiles running.

  • Do images imported to Keynote retain their previous color profile? In other words, if the Keynote presentation will be shown using an sRGB profile projector, should the images be converted to sRGB prior to importing?

Do images imported to Keynote retain their previous color profile? In other words, if the Keynote presentation will be shown using an sRGB profile projector, should the images be converted to sRGB prior to importing or can they be batch adjusted in Keynote?

While I feel your comment doesn't directly address my question, why I am worrying is this.
This presentation is to a camera club. Color is important. Images shown in meetings are projected by an sRGB color profile projector. Most serious photographers us a color profile with a bigger space than sRGB (typically RGB1998). If you project an RGB1998 image on an sRGB projector the colors go to crap. More precisely they become dull and lifeless. Thus, I am trying to determine whether I need to convert the images I plan to put into my Keynote to sRGB and boost the saturation PRIOR to importing them or whether Keynote has a way to do this as part of the software.
