App Server Install Startup Problem

I just installed J2EE 1.4 - set the jAVA_HOME & J2EE_HOME env-var. on Win 2000
Try to start the App Server 8 and get this:
Starting Domain domain1, please wait.
Log redirected to E:\Java\j2ee\domains\domain1\logs\server.log.
Timeout waiting for domain domain1 to go to starting state.
CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1.
Press any key to continue . . .
The log file starts out with these Warnings:
ADM5802:Error reading key file.|#]
ADM5815:Error initializing admin channel client.|#]
ADM5802:Error reading key file.|#]
ADM5815:Error initializing admin channel client.|#]
and then this execption:
[#|2004-04-11T09:34:39.969-0500|WARNING|sun-appserver-pe8.0|javax.enterprise.system.stream.err|_ThreadID=10;|java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks

Well just for kicks and grins I decided a good old reboot might be in order - the J2EE install didn't ask for one but this is Windows after all - it cant change it's mind without a reboot. So we get a bit futher after the reboot.
So after the reboot I get this: NoClassDefFoundError (the org/`pache) is not my typo - that is the actual message.
Starting Domain domain1, please wait.
Log redirected to E:\Java\j2ee\domains\domain1\logs\server.log.

I'm guessing this typo is compiled into the App Server 8

    hi
i was able to solve the error :-).
I was trying to migrate an application from iAS 6.5 to 7.0. During the deployment of the application (using ant scripts) a few jar files required for the application to run were copied to the jdk\jre\lib\ext folder. Those files were the cause of the problem. Once i removed those files i was able to start up the application server..

  • App Server Install fails - due to incompatible Message Queue

I had JES 2005 q1 installed in one of the test machines...now I am trying to set up JES 2005q4 on that. I cud install a Web Server on that ut when I tried to set up the App Server it throws up a msg stating that there is an incompatible version of Message Queue installed and hence installation cannot go ahead.
I am not able to find any instance of Message Queu setup....how do I detect and uninstall old versions of Message Queue??
    thx
    anand

I assume you are talking about appserver install on Solaris. Message Queue on Solaris is a package based install. The easiest way to uninstall the old version of MQ is: "pkginfo -i | grep Message" ---> "pkgrm all MQ packages".

  • App Server Install

    Hi
I would just like to find out which install of App Server 10g i would need
On Oracle OTN there are 2 downloads available :
    - 10g AS – BI (Includes Apache & Discoverer, does not include Internet Directory etc…)
    - 10gAS – Full install
Currently I’ve downloaded & created test instance of 10g BI (Apache + Discoverer) only.
Which components would i need if i wanted to write webservices in Jdev and Deploy Them to the App Server
    Thanks

Sometimes, simply rebooting the system helps. That brings up/down some of the services whose true status is not reflected otherwise.
Almost always when I had any issue with de-installation or a corrupt installation, reboot helped.
Did you reboot the system after installation?

  • Sun8.1 app server's behavior problem

Sun8.1 app server's behavior is not good. I tried with the following scenario's.
    1. Undelpoy one project: When I'm trying to undeploy one project, it is able to undeploy but, it is not able
    to remove folder from <<C:\Sun81>>\AppServer\domains\domain1\applications\j2ee-apps\
If we don't remove this folder, when we try to deploy same project again, it is giving problem.
Solution: we need to shutdown our app server, go to above folder and remove undeployed project.
    2. Undeploy multiple projects: When we are trying to undeploy multiple projects, server is undeploying one or two projects(not consistent)
and it is not undeploying remaining projects.
And some times it is not able to clean domain.xml (Path: <<C:\Sun81>>\AppServer\domains\domain1\config\domain.xml) properly. This means for each project there will be two entries(j2ee-application&application-ref) in domain.xml, server is removing one entry and not removing another entry.
    3. Disable/Enable problem: When we are deploying first time, project is working. If we disable our project and enable it again, project is not working.
If we restart app server, project is working fine.

We all have this problem.... while I was not around. ;-)

  • App world install - new problem?

Hi I've just installed app world on my 8100 (running 4.2.1.103) and all seemed fine until I clicked on the icon. A window with the end user agreement popped up, I scrolled down to find the accept button, but it doesn't exist. I just keep scrolling round and round.
I can't access the app world app and if I go through the browser and try to install a blackberry world app (twitter, for instance), the same agreement window pops up in front of it and I can't make it go away.  Anyone have any clues?  All help or pointers to how to find the answer very gratefully received!

  • Need help with iPlanet App Server Install

We have the Fast Track edition installed as webserver on an NT box. We
have also loaded the Test Drive edition application server and we are
trying to verify its installation. I have the IP and port number and
then put in the /ias-samples/index.html and keep getting message Invalid
    URL.
Checked for the directory existance and it is there. Does it need to be
    mapped somehow?
    What are we missing?
    Thanks In Advance ~

    Hi Tom,
I don't know what is Fast Track edition of web server. Would you give
    the
webserver name and version number (such as iWS 4.1 service pack6). It
may be the case that iAS does not support the iWS. Check if the web
server is running fine by typing only the ip address. No port number is
neccessary for NT. You can try with no port number.

  • JDev with Sun App Server Install

I'm just starting with EJB and am trying to compile a Remote interface and am getting the following compile error:
Error(5,48): cannot access class javax.ejb.EJBObject; file javax\ejb\EJBObject.class not found
I added the CLASSPATH for j2ee.jar to Windows and also included it at Project Settings > Development > Paths in JDev. The error persists.

double click on your project in JDeveloper to go to project settings.
Make sure the EJB libraries are part of your project.

  • Insufficient Space on Sun Application Server Install

Running a clean install of Fedora Core 4 on a HP DL360 G4p with two drives in a (hardware) RAID 1+0 configuration I am unable to proceed with App Server installation (same problem with PE v9 or v8.2) due to insufficient disk space. There is clearly enough space (120GB or so)!
I read elsewhere that this can sometimes occur because of insufficient Swap space but I have a 4GB swap partition (which is barely used at install time) and just in case I created a further Swap file of roughly 2.5GB.
Output from /proc/swaps and df shows:
    [root@optus-v1iytpt2u Desktop]# cat /proc/swaps
    Filename Type Size Used Priority
    /dev/cciss/c0d0p2 partition 4096564 804 -1
    /swapfile file 2553592 0 -3
    [root@optus-v1iytpt2u Desktop]# df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 132921676 5288240 120772480 5% /
    /dev/shm 1037448 0 1037448 0% /dev/shm
    /dev/cciss/c0d0p3 1984044 35908 1845724 2% /tmp
    Anyone have any ideas?

It seems that native toolkit executable which is called by installer to get the amount of free space does not return the correct value on your system.
    One workaround you could attempt:
    * Unzip the distribution file into dedicated temporary directory
    unzip <downloaded file name>
    * Invoke install wizard by running this from the same directory (please make sure java command points to 1.5.0 version or higher):
java -cp .:package/PackageFormat.jar -Xmx256m appserv -nospc
In this case, installer should skip disk space check alltogether so you should be able to install.

  • Sizing for NW2004s 7.0 App server

    Hi All
This is regarding the sizing req's for SAP NW2004s (7.0) app server which is required for the installation of GTS. I am going through the req's for a new implementation of GTS 7.1 for a very small user group ( Less than 10) on AIX with Oracle.
I have been told that the initial estimates for the server HD size cam up to 75 gb each for the DEV and QA and this apparently includes the app+db.
I am not familiar with the quicksizer and someone else arrived at this number. I doubt that 75 gb for an ABAP+JAVA NW 7.0 install  would be sufficient to house the db and app and  am still reading through documentation to verify this.
Can someone who has gone through the NW app server installations clarify this and let me know if there is a breakup of file sizes for the Orcale and the SAP files for an NW 2004s app server install.
    Thanks
    Vic

Was this installation done on UNIX ?
:  nope System that I tell you is windows.
Do you have any breakup for the SAP sytem and the Database files (sapdata and teh log files) ?
:  BREAKUP ????  did you mean backup if "backup" is YES.
Does this account for the swap space and how RAM do you have on your system ?
: for RAM I have on my system is 9GB but I can install 3 instance(SID) and DB in one Server
maybe we can share Exp. in how to tuning for best performance next time

Most likely there is a problem in your configuration, such that the admin service could not get started (didn't you originally get a 505 error?)  Check your logs: admin and Tomcat (usually catalina.log) for any errors and fix the problems indicated in the logs.

  • Problem Re-Installing Sun One App Server 7 on Solaris 8

I will try my best to describe my problem.
I successfully installed Sun One App Server 7 Standard Edition on Solaris 8. It was installed on a mounted secondary hard disk. That hard disk has since gone bad. I bought a new hard disk and have that mounted.
I want to install Sun One App Server 7 again. I am installing through the GUI, but do not the options to install the server even though it is completely gone. I guess the installer seems to think that the product is already installed, even though the previous hard disk with all of the application server files are gone. Is there any way to uninstall or remove the installed status of the application server so I can reinstall?
    Thanks.

Thanks! I tried the prodreg tool and found the Application Server node, and clicked Uninstall. It went through an uninstall process. Even though it came back with an error, the re-install process after worked great. Thanks again.

  • Problem installing App Server 8.1 on Linux

I've got App server 8.1 that came with a Messaging Server bundle. I tried installing on a new machine, and it wouldn't go through with the full configuation at the time of install, so I took the "configure later" option.
I'm now trying to manually configure and start the App server, which usually is in /var/opt/sun/appserver/bin.
However, there's nothing in there except a PointBase directory, and there's no installer file for the appserver in /opt/sun. Anyone know where the manual installer script for the app server gets kept?

Okay - it looks like I've found the answer to my own question, unless anyone has a better answer:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2328/6n4khb8jl?a=view
This document goes over the post-install instructions for Sun Java Application server. It assumes you were able to run the installer, and then choose the "configure now" option to enter in all of the values right then and there for the install.
If you choose the "configure later" option, and don't enter in all of the server values right there, you are pretty much up a creek as I've found no way to actually do the post-install after this. There is literally no executible which does this.
The only thing I was able to do that worked was to try (and fail) to run the uninstall script, and then -- when that bombed out and wouldn't actually un-install everything, I did an rpm -qa | grep sun-, and then on EVERYTHING in that list, I did an rpm -e to remove it. That finally worked and allowed me to re-run the install.
Does anyone else have better advice on this one?

I haven't come across such an issue before but I would like to help. This could be probably because, the downloaded file may be corrupted due to come reasons. I would recomend you to give a try after downloading it once again. Please let me know your thoughts on the same.
