App-V 5 SP2 and publishing Office 2013 to users on RDS

Hello
I have a problem with App-V 5 on RDS Servers.
My scenario is like this, I have Office 2013 published Globally to over 20 RDS servers and I'm using App-Locker and groups to control access to the Office 2013 package.
Now when I add a new user to the office 2013 group he doesn't get the Office package published to him because the packages is in use and will be try'd at a later time. Witch means computer restart but I also have network loadbalance and session broker so the
user isn't always logging to the same server.
Has anyone had this problem or know how I can publish the Office 2013 package to the user's without restarting.
Best Regards Kristjan R. Halldorsson

Hello,
I am truely confused by how you are attempting to achieve things.
1. The Office 2013 package is only supported if deployed globally
2. AppLocker is the way to restrict users from starting different applications
3. Office 2013 is not supported to be published to users
It seems you have issues with #3. Which is not supported. I am not saying it "doesn't" work, but considering you have issues with it - perhaps we can start by not doing it?
Ok, so what do we have left;
Per your statement, Office 2013 is published globally. Ergo, all shortcuts and applications should be available to all users.
Is this true?

    Hi
We have a terminal environment (RDS) of 20 servers and have implemented App-V 5 SP2 in it and deployed Office 2013 to it.
We don't publish Office 2013 globally because not all users are supposed to get Office 2013.
We have 2 different deployment configurations (XML's) that are configured to universal groups and the user's are members of that depending on which configuration they are supposed to have.
Now the problem, when we log a user onto the RDS and he is a member of one of the Office group he get's the Office packages and the Integrator runs and "Mail (Microsoft Office 2013)" cpl is created in Control panel and everything works fine.
When the user logs off and on again and goes to another server in our farm he gets the Office packages but no integrator runs and there is no "Mail (Microsoft Office 2013)" in control panel.
But if the users happens to log on to the same server as he landed in first place then he has access to "Mail (Microsoft Office 2013)" in control panel.
We are using network load balance and session broker for our farm.
The office 2013 was sequenced as the instructions said and no extra features or addons where implemented.
    Best Regards Kristjan R. Halldorsson

    Hello,
It is only supported if you publish the package globally and since you aren't publishing globally this is most likely the reason you have issues.

  • Tutor 14 with Windows 8.1 and MS Office 2013

    Hi all,
Have anybody used Tutor Author and Publisher with Windows 8.1 and MS Office 2013? Are there any known issues/compatibility issues with this? Any information on this is greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance,
    SD

That would be great! I would really appreciate if you can try this. I am having trouble creating the master index and desk manual index from tutor Publisher. I have tried with multiple machines but i am running into winkey error. I am already working with oracle for this, but there has been no progress. Kindly update once you are done testing or if you are able to use it without any issues.
    thanks in advance,

I recently purchased a Windows 8 laptop and istalled Office 2013.  I then installed iTunes. After moving all my music to my new PC I got iTunes to import it, and then synced it to my iPod (3rd gen.) However, I cannot get iTunes to sync my Outlook Calendar or Contacts with my iPod.  When I try it crashes Outlook.  iTunes continues to try to sync, but when it finishes my Calendar and Contents are empty (ERASED!).  I have de-installed and re-installed iTunes (according to Apple's instructions), repaired Office 2013 and Outlook, scanned for viruses (etc), cleaned out temp folders, defragmented, etc., etc., etc. Has anyone seen this before, and does anyone know houw to fix it?  (HELP!)

Well, I guess I have to download some other software to make my apple product work. Really great stuff you guys sell. I will never buy another apple product. My Iphone, Ipod and Itunes are junk

  • App-V 5 SP2 and Office 2013 - How to control user access?

What is the best way to control access to the Office 2013 application shortcuts?
Because it must be published globally, how can we only allow certain users to access Office 2013 on RDS servers when the default action would mean all users can access it?
Can removing the shortcuts using the DeploymentConfig file (see
here) followed by setting up something using the UserConfig file linked to an AD group work?
If so how would this be done?

  • App-V and Microsoft Office 2013 Home Premium O365 Edition - Is it possible?

    Hello,
Over the past couple of days I have been trying to sequence Office into an App-V app. As far as I can tell, the app is created successfully, the problem is publishing the app and actually installing it on clients. I have tried to get this to work using multiple
methods, and the commonality between all of them is that the XML files seem to be unreadable or corrupt? Here are a couple of screenshots that show the problem.
    App-V Management Console:
    PoweShell:
I have followed various guides, and tried sequencing the app on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Has someone had success deploying HomePremium using App-V? If so, can some one tell me where I'm going wrong? Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
What's the specific build number of your Office? Looks like the same issue as this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/98e5508b-7898-4b2b-b24d-3fd0194bbbc7/office-2013-with-visio-and-project-error-package-manifest-is-invalid?forum=mdopappv
As suggested in the thread, please try to add the Version attribute to the
Add element to specify an older version number, then try again and see if it's an build issue.
Since your query is directly related to APP-V, I would also suggest you to try the forum of
Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V), where you will get the most qualified pool of respondents.

  • Publishing office 2013 on app-v server

    Hi,
I'm trying to publish an office 2013 package that I have created using the ODT.
The technet guide (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dn817830.aspx) I am using is telling me to use this command 'Add-AppvClientPackage <Path_to_AppV_Package> | Publish-AppvClientPackage
–global'  from the client and then 'From
the Web Management Console on the App-V Server, you can add permissions to a group of computers instead of to a user group to enable packages to be published globally to the computers in the corresponding group.' from
what I can see it has worked as in I can now open word, excel etc.. but the package has not  appeared on the appv server yet to allow me to configure permissions. Before attempting the above command I tried importing the package directly into the app-v
web management console but the app-v client could not see the package although it was in the correct security group.
    Any pointers?
    Thanks

+ note that it may take several minutes (10+) before a new published package appears on the client

  • App-V 5 SP2 and FolderRedirection

Can anyone advise what aspects of folder redirection Microsoft will be supporting with the SP2 release of the App-V client?  I have been testing the beta release and this has fixed an issue we have with an internal app where folder redirection of AppData
had broken it using the SP1 client. All good.
The main issue I have is unpublishing applications either from the SCCM console or from within PowerShell. I was hoping that maybe SP2, if supporting folder redirection, would resolve this issue. The problem I have is documented here. http://sccmentor.wordpress.com/2013/10/17/unable-to-unpublish-app-v-5-apps-with-appdata-redirected/.
Also removing Connection groups fails and I believe it's because of the redirection also.
    Cheers
    Paul | sccmentor.wordpress.com

Folder redirection of AppData is not supported with App-V 5 and SP2 won't change that.
Edit: just noticed this page: which says that it will be supported: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sgern/archive/2013/03/21/10404124.aspx
I would still avoid redirecting AppData with App-V 5 installed and instead use a solution such as UE-V to roam user settings and get around the problems you're probably attempting to avoid, by redirecting AppData.

  • Application cache and multiligual Office 2013

    Hi Guys
I have packaged Office 2013 with all needed language packs inside to deploy through DTs based on OU.
The issue I have, is the bandwidth available over some of the lines is very bad. I have been asked that if the Office app caches the whole package, then that might be an issue.
Is there a way without creating multiple applications, still using DTs to stop SCCM caching the whole package and only the files (languages) it needs?
    NN

    Hi Peter
Thank you for the response. Maybe I have packaged this incorrectly then.
    Here is my method:
Folder [Office 2013] has all languages one after the other inside like this:
My application points to this as the root. The DT then points to the setup.exe in the root for all, the MSP and then has a different config file for each DT based on language to be installed.
It does install as expected and picks the correct DT and just one language where needed, but I didn't expect it to drag down files not being used.
Do I need to package this differently to have it not cache all content in the root?
    Thanks again

  • Need Help! Ospprearm.exe not working with Windows 8 and Micorsoft Office 2013

I am running 64 bit win 8 and office 2013.  I searched in my whole PC and I found Ospprearm.exe in this location C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15
That was the only place I found ospprearm.exe.  When I opened it I got this error
There was an error when trying to rearm Office. You can try passing the SKU Id as a parameter. Passing the SKU ID is necessary if you are relying on activation to permit an additional rearm. Error: 0xc004f025
On a computer running Microsoft non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xc004f025' to display the error text
I haven't rearmed Microsoft Office before with this technique before.
I really Don't know what happend.

    Hello Ethan
I am a bit worried since using Ospprearm.exe for office in my 64-bit version of Windows
8 original version apparently changes my CMID will it affect my Windows Profile adversely as well or only office? I am told this rearms
    does "the following tasks:
Resets the grace timer to 30 days.
Freezes the grace timer until either an Office application is run, or the ospp.vbs script is run.
Resets the client computer ID (CMID). This is important because the KMS host uses the CMID to determine the number of unique clients. To check the CMID, use the command ospp.vbs
/dcmid. For more information about ospp.vbs, see The ospp.vbs script.
Note: If you run this command on either Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, it only returns to CMID for Windows,
not Office. To see the CMID for Office 2013, look for event 12288 in the Application Event log..."
Your clarification will be deeply appreciated thanks!!!

  • Compatibility of acrobat x and ms office 2013 64-bit

Can someone tell me if these 2 programs have compatibility issues?  MS office 2013 64-bit and adobe acrobat x standard.  I cannot get the "choose sheets" function to work. It automatically comes up with a runtime error and then stops working...brand new computer...

  • How to uninstall Office 2010 32 bit and install Office 2013 64 bit

    Hi Everyone,
I am rather new to SCCM.  I have setup a SCCM 2012 SP1 system.  I am now trying to setup an Application where it will install Office 2013 64 bit.  Everything seemed to go smoothly until I tried testing it.  I received an error that I
cannot install the 64 bit version of Office 2013 because Office 2010 32 bit is already installed.
I tried to modify the MSP where it will uninstall Office 2010 before installing Office 2013 but apparently as soon as it starts it checks for the 32 bit installation and exits when it finds it.
Could someone give me a detailed solution (since I am new to SCCM)?
    Ken

While referring to older versions of office I think this link may apply: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f255e17d-4e1f-4231-8a88-d63f41c83c52/how-to-automatcally-uninstall-office-2007-32-bit-for-installation-of-office-2010-64-bit?forum=officesetupdeployprevious
Also you might create an office 2010 package, with an uninstall program that removes it.
Then in your office 2013 package make the uninstall for 2010 to be run first.

  • App-V V5  SP2 and Captivate V5.0

Looking to virtualize Captivate V5 with App-v Ver 5 with SP2.
Anyone have any experieince with these versions?
To anyone's knowledge are there any issues?
    Thanks

    Hi Siwar,
The link you posted just takes me to the downloads centre. Is this the DHTML Editing Control?
If so, this is downloaded by the installer automatically during the installation. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I'm really keen to find out what happens during the reboot process. I'm guessing some DLL's are registered or replaced but I can't seem to track it down. I thought it may have just been a service that needed restarting but I've tried restarting every related service and it stays the same until you reboot the computer.
    Thanks,
    Anthony
