  • Apple Care works? For me don't

Apple Care is not working for me.
I call then and they are saying that they can't unfortunately resolve my problem.
I have an Imac 21.7 and it's with an yellow mark behing the glass of the monitor.
I bought the computer on agost 20th, and they are saying that I've bouthg my computer on may 2nd.

And remember, don't panic.  The only thing you are entitled to now is free phone support 90 days from August 20th, and that's what you need to remind AppleCare/Customer Relations.  Hardware support, AppleCare purchasing to extend to 3 years from date of purchase is still available until May 19th, 2012 at the minimum, and if you get the right person at AppleCare/Customer Relations, August 19, 2012.  After which point all AppleCare coverage is on a case by case basis for both hardware and software without warranty.  Note, a warranty is only a warrant against manufacturer defects.  It does NOT cover accidents, or things Apple considers normal wear and tear.  You can read that on the http://www.apple.com/support page.  I do recommend buying AppleCare, if only for the simple reason you will get unlimited phone support to explain things about Apple software from Apple itself.  If limited time manufacturer defect should surface, that's what AppleCare is also good for.  But don't expect accidental spills, falls, or bumping of the computer to be covered.  This as rkaufmann says is a user to user forum.  We can just explain our experiences to you.  For Apple directly you must call AppleCare/Customer Relations.

  • My Display Only Works Part of the Time and Apple Care Won't Help Me (Long)

I bought my computer at a discounted price because it was a restocked item, but was it really worth it? I'm beginning to think not. I saw that it had one stuck pixel, but saving that much money on such an expensive computer, the pixel hardly seemed like a travesty. However, I think I've discovered the real reason why the last owner gave up such a seemingly exceptional piece of hardware...
After about a month of flawless operation my "new" computer started to act a little strangely. It wouldn't always go to sleep when it was scheduled, the screen saver wouldn't always come on by itself...things that I though a simple PRAM reset, SMC reset, or disk permission repair would fix. After countless attempts at all three "fixes" I was still having problems...a few days after these problems started occuring something even more drastic happened: My computer would turn on (the little light would come on, I'd hear the fans start running and the start up tone) but the screen would remain black. I tried several PRAM and SMC resets as suggested on this forum, but the screen continued to come up black for about an hour. That's when I called Apple.
The Apple Care specialist on the phone asked me for the serial in which I had to lift the computer up to get (since I obviously couldn't read it off the screen). She suggested an SMC reset which, I explained to her, I had tried already but it hadn't worked, however, I was willing to give it another shot. Oddly (and rather annoyingly) enough it worked, and for a short amount of time I was happy...until it happened again...another call to Apple...and again...and about 3 or 4 calls to Apple Care later, they suggested that I go in to an Apple Store to have it looked at.
The Apple Specialist made an appointment with me to meet with an Apple Genius the next day at 4:30PM at a store about a mile away from my house. The next day I lugged my 24" iMac through the local mall (I'm female, 5'2", and I weigh about 108 so it wasn't too easy of a feat) to discover the apple store was CLOSED for the next few days so that they could "make the store better." I called Apple Care on my cell phone right there in the mall and asked them what was going on. Didn't they know that this Apple Store was closed? The man I was talking to said that they knew and he wasn't sure how the person I had talked to just the day before had signed me up for an appointment when he hadn't even asked for my e-mail address. It was most bizarre. This man made an appointment with me for later that same day at an Apple Store about 45 minutes away from where I live. I didn't want to go, but I'm a college student and I was a desperate for my computer to work again.
Shaking around in that box must have brought it out of it's strange seized-up state because as I brought it out for the Mac Genius to look at it turned on for him no problem. Quite a frustrating problem because it's so spontainious that it keeps making me look like either a liar or a fool. He said he'd run an 8-hour diagnostic check on it and I could pick it up the next day. So the next day I waited for their call but I got none. I called them and they said that they were still running tests and it'd be ready the next day. The day after, about an hour and a half before I had to go to work, they called me and told me my computer was ready. They said they had ran a 24-hour diagnostic and everything was working fine but they said they'd run more tests if I wanted them to. I'm a full-time college student and I need my computer for just about all of my classes, so I declined more tests and told them I'd pick it up right away. I dashed over there to pick it up and dashed back as fast as I could (and I even made it to work on time...but just barely). Later that night I found that they had accidentally left their diagnostics CD in my computer (I called them about it and they said that would like it if I would bring it back...I still haven't mailed it).
All was fine and good (well, just okay...it still had problems with its sleeping and screen-savering) with my computer until yesterday. I got that black screen again upon start up....but this time my "fixes" worked after a few tries. There were no more problems for the rest of yesterday.
However, today I came home from school and go to start up my computer and the screen turned on and I saw the little mac symbol and that little circle of bars...but then it froze. I held in the little button to force a shutdown and when I started it back up again I was greeted by my good old friend, Mr. Black Screen. Just wonderful. I tried my "fixes" but today I didn't get lucky. So while I was holding in the button to start up my computer (again) and give it another go, I held it longer than I was supposed to and the little on light began flickering. Then I heard this unpleasant tone that lasted a few seconds before stopping and treating me to the startup sound. This time the screen turned on. Yay! I go to call Apple to find out what I had just done, and I find out that my 90 days are up and unless I wanted to pay $50 for them to be puzzled by my issue once more or give them $300 for not quite 3 more years of service, I'd have to lug my computer to an Apple Store or post here to get help. Thanks a lot Apple Care.
My "new" computer cost me almost $3,000. It should work the way it's supposed to. I need it to last me no less than 6 more years, but with the problems I've had with it in the first 3 months (which seem only to be getting worse and more frequent), I don't know if I'm expecting WAY too much out of it. I've been a loyal Apple user for 13 years and out of the 5 computers I've had in that time I've never had so many problems (actually I've never had any problems, at least nothing really serious; I'd never even called Apple Care before this). I'm a fairly experienced user (I'm not a Mac Genius or anything, but I know the ropes) and I am sure this is not normal behavior for an Apple computer (or any computer of that matter).
I'm so frusterated I'm not sure what to do. What's wrong with my computer? How can I get Apple to help me? How can I get Apple to even believe me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you so much for reading my very long (and rather dramatic) story.

Thanks for reading and thanks for the advice. Perhaps I'll ask them about it next time this problem occurs, although carrying the thing through a mall that is only about a mile away is the least of my worries. I'll do if it is both free (I don't make enough at my job to pay for such a service) and relatively speedy, although I'd hate for them to come over and for the computer to work properly (as bad as that sounds). It'd be a wasted trip and nothing would get fixed.
I'm contemplating videotaping myself performing my "fixes" on it the next time I have this problem.

When you buy an iPhone in the U.S. it's locked to that country with the carrier you bought it for.
If you bought the device unlocked in the U.S. it's unlocked, you can use it on any carrier. Even one's outside the country.
If you want to do a repair on a device you bought in the U.S. and your using it in another country, you must send it back to the U.S. Why? That's where you bought it from.
AppleCare Protection Plans and AppleCare Limited Warranties are registered to your hardware.
    Your hardware is your iPhone.
Wherever hardware that was bought then that's the country it was designed to be used in and that's where it was manufactured.
Apple is very localized - if you call U.S. tech support, you'll speak to somone in your country.
So, what does all this mean?
In order to do a repair, you need to send it back to the country you got it from.
And we're all customers like you. We understand that you're upset, but Apple isn't gonna bend the rules to one individual.
Policy is policy. Get over it.

No, sorry. it won't work with the 2007 MBP. You can replace the optical drive yourself - just go shopping at OWC.

Is there an "APPLE STORE" in India or you just went in a reseller store?
There is a replacement program for sleep/wake button for free. Just look for an Apple Store and make a reservation at Genius Bar.
I have an iPhone 5, bought in Dubai U.A.E.
It is a US model (model A1428) which is different of the model use here in Italy/Europe
My serial number is qualified for battery replacement program.
I thought the Apple Store wouldn't repair my phone because I bought it from another country , a different model and it is already out of warranty.
The Apple store's staff just checked if my iPhone's serial number is eligible for the program and he replaced the battery for free today.

Please be advised that we are individual users just like you.  I understand and appreciate that you use your MBP in a vocational environment and evidently it is critical for you to have a functioning MBP at all times.  Unlike some car dealers, Apple does not have a 'loaner' program.
You may be able to talk the local Apple store to lend you one, but they are under no obligation to do so.  As BobTHeFisherman suggests, the only reasonable solution for the current situation and possible future ones, is to have a backup MBP, ready to be used if the primary one fails.
Even if you got a 'loaner', I question the practicality of setting it up and transferring data in a timely manner that would enable it to be used for your job.  The quick and temporary solution to you situation is to purchase an external DVD drive that can substitute for the internal one with the entrenched CD.  This should permit you to continue your work uninterrupted with all functions of your MBP still at your disposal.
    Ciao.

    Welcome to the boards.
First, what kind of liquid was it, and was it fully submersed?  For how long?  Do you see water droplets or moisture behind the screen?  How long did you leave it in rice for?  Etc.  More data please.
And the short answer is no, apple care does not extend from your iPhone to your iPad mini.  Both items require separate Apple Care plans to be covered.  Furthermore, I don't think water damage is covered under Apple Care.  Only manufacturing defects.
If you bought it on a Credit Card, you may be lucky enough to call them and ask them if they have a replacement program as a benefit for being a card holder.  I believe AMEX has one on their Platinum cards, and worse case scenario, you can always try to file a claim with your home insurance or renters insurance  (check your policy).  Just beware, if you go the Insurance route in filing a claim, you might have your premium go up in the next cycle.
    It's a double edged sword, I'm sorry.

  • My DVD Drive dosent work and its dented and i can't get my DVD out. I have apple care so would I be able to get it replaced?

So I somehow dented my DVD drive for my macbook pro but I tried putting a disc if it would work (stupid idea) It went in but it now wont come out. I've been wanting to get to apple for a while about my DVD drive not working and now my DVD is stuck in there. I have apple care plan so would I be able to take my macbook into the store and get it replaced or parts of it replaced?

Yes, if you are in warranty. Take it in, only Apple employees can speak for Apple ( we are users here, just like you).

  • IPhone 5 lock button not working at all. If I'm in the one year warranty still but don't have apple care will I have to pay to get it fixed or will it be covered

I have a iPhone 5 and about a month ago my lock button stopped working. It takes me about ten tries to power it back on or to lock it. If I'm still in my one year warranty will I have to pay to get it fixed? I didn't purchase apple care though so I'm wondering if it's going to cost me to get it fixed or if it's still covered because of the one year warranty? Thank you!

If it's due to a manufacturing defect, the warranty will cover it. If it's due to accidental damage, it'll cost to get it fixed unless it happened during an authorized repair.

  • PLEASE HELP - I need an Apple Care phone number that works in Nepal.

I am at my wit's end. I just moved to Kathmandu, and of course my macbook pro decided to die on me! I have tried an SMC and PRAM reset to no avail, and now there is nothing when I try to turn it on - no whizzing fan or sounds at all. My battery power is at full strength.
I need my computer to do my work as well as to stay connected to Canada, and I am feeling really frustrated that I cannot find ANY number or information on the Apple site, despite Nepal being listed as a participating Apple Care country.
    Please, please help!

Go here - https://locate.apple.com/asia/en/ - and serach for a Nepal service center.

  • When Apple Care Doesn't Work

Has anyone had problems getting something solved through Apple Care technical support? This is the second time for me with this computer. Last time, over a year ago, they finally paid to have it put in the shop. I've been dealing with them with this issue since November. Two regular level and two specialists have tried to help me. We've done all of the regular stuff, making more room on the hard drive, resetting the PRAM, taking stuff off and reinstalling the system software. The last was done on Friday. I'm still having problems. It totally freezes up at odd times. Sometimes there are black lines across the screen. It is now (since the reinstall) not recognizing my external hard drive and saying it can't open itunes. I'm so frustrated! Not only do my kids need the computer for homework, but I have a part-time home business and need to print shipping labels etc. as well as look up information related to my business. Any suggestions? I've had Macs almost since they came out and this really makes me want to get a PC. I realize they can have problems, too, but at least they are cheaper.

"Will Apple keep making updates to 10.4"
That final version update of Tiger is 10.4.11.
"Should I buy 10.5? It's been my feeling that since this particular computer has had so many problems I shouldn't spend any more money on it unless I am convinced it will continue working well (or begin working well) for a while. " I wouldn't think it would be advisable to upgrade to Leopard until your Mac is stable.

    Robert,
Unfortunately we don't have an Apple store here. I hear there may be one soon. There are various people who contract with Apple to do repairs, so maybe I need to go to one of those. The question, then, is, how do I get Apple to pay. Since my computer is still under Apple Care and since I've had extended problems with it, they should, right?
    Carolyn,
I didn't list all of the things that have been tried on it in the past four months...hard to remember. I had done the disk utility probably twice before. I did update to 10.4.11, as you suggested. How does this work with updating? Will Apple keep making updates to 10.4 even though they have 10. 5 out? Should I buy 10.5? It's been my feeling that since this particular computer has had so many problems I shouldn't spend any more money on it unless I am convinced it will continue working well (or begin working well) for a while.
I didn't understand all of your directions. I found the disk utility, although it wasn't listed under the finder menu bar. I" There is a Disk Utility application on your hard drive. Applications/Utilities.
"Were you suggesting running disk utility on the install disk? " Yes!
" There wasn't anything to select anywhere that said Utilities/Startup Disk. " Ok, when you boot from your restore disk, you hold down the C key until you see the Apple logo on your screen. An Installer window will open. Do not proceed with any installations. Instead, from the Menu Bar (very top of your screen), select Utilities/Startup. That will open the window where you can then select your MacintoshHD 10.4 icon and click Restart. Without doing this, your Mac doesn't know disk to boot from.
"Sorry, it's been a rough week. Maybe I'm not understanding something obvious." No problem. Sometimes you just have to sit back and take a deep breath, or call it a night and work on it in the morning. I understand ... these tasks can be daunting at times.

  • Does an older Apple care (MA519ZM/A) for iBook/Macbook work with Macbook air 2012?

I found an older model of the apple care (MA519ZM/A) for cheap online.
It says its for iBook / Macbook, but having googled the model number some websites seem to say its for the Air aswell.
So I was wondering if it would work with the MBA 13inch 2012.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The AppleCare you want to buy is designed for the MacBook, the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, so you should be able to use it.
I recommend you to get it directly from Apple, so you can be sure it will be compatible, but it should also work
