Apple remote is not working
Video froze while watching hulu on Apple TV. I pressed the menu button and play button rapidly numerous times with no response. Now apple remote doesn't work, holding menu and right or left doesn't work either. The remote is barely a month old, what have I done and how do I fix it? I restarted my Apple TV and still no response, while watching a show by navigating with my remote app, I pressed my apple remote and saw the light would blink rapidly if I held the play button. Tried it a second time and it no longer responded. What do I do, buying another remote is not a logical option for a something I bought less than a month ago.
In the time it took my to sign up my Apple ID account so that I can ask a question and then formulate one. I unpaired and then paired my remote using my app for the 10th and now the remote is back to working...go figure

Apple Remote Events Not Working
I have an internal drive with OS X Client 10.3.9 and a fresh install of the same OS X Client on an external hard drive. Apple Remote Events, though turned on in System Preferences, does not function across my local network when booted on either of these drives.
With a 2nd internal drive, I've got OS X Server 10.3.9 and when booted under this OS version, Apple Remote Events works as it should.
Any ideas how I can enable the proper functionality of Apple Remote Events on OS X Client?
QuickSilver Dual 1GHz Mac OS X (10.3.9)I have discovered that an apostrophe character in the machine name created a mismatch between the network identity name and the actual name. "Ken Goff's Computer" was converted to "Ken-Goffs-Computer.local" by OS X 10.0 when I first set up my computer.
Changing the computer name to anything without the apostrophe and then editing the network name substituting dashes for spaces between words in the name fixed it.
Remote Apple Events now works across the network.

Apple Remote Now Not Working With MacPro
I've a MacPro (Late 2007) and it came with an Apple Remote.
I've used it quite frequently with this computer, but haven't used it for a couple of months. I recently needed to start using it once again but the computer no longer responds to the remote!
I've checked the remote and it still works perfectly with my MacBook Pro, and the battery is fine.
I've gone onto the Apple website and the support says to check in the Security plane that the infrared is not disabled - but this no longer appears there! It used to be there, but now it has disappeared!!
Was this due to one of the updates?
HELP! I need to be able to use the IR Remote once again with this computer!!Sorry, but are you sure you're referring to the correct Mac, the minitower-case Mac Pro? There is no Mac Pro model identified as "Late 2007" - there were the first Mac Pro model introduced in August of 2006, though you might have purchased yours in late 2007. The next revision was in early 2008.
Nor, to the best of my knowledge, has any Mac Pro included an infrared port nor come with an Apple Remote.
So please confirm that you are indeed talking about the minitower Mac Pro and not an iMac, Mac mini, MacBook or MacBook Pro, all of which did come with infrared ports.

Why is Apple remote desktop not working?
I have 4 machines in a remote office that I need to connect to using ARD 3.6. I have a VPN connection working and am able to successfully control all but one of the machines. I have checked all of the settings and have confirmed that the Mac that ARD is not working has all of the same sharing preferences as the machines that are working. All of these machines are on the same network. All of the machines are running OS 10.8.x. All machines that I am able to connect to are running 10.8.3 but the one I can't is only at 10.8.2, but that is only because I haven't been able to remote into it yet to perform the OS update. The weird thing is that I can see the unresponsive Mac (can see the IP address, the version of ARD, OS version, etc.) but I simply can't connect to it to control or observe using ARD. I am however able to use TeamViewer from a remote Windows PC.
Can someone provide some ideas as to what to check and or how to fix this? TIA.Do you have remote login enabled?
Have you tried using the kickstart command to restart the ARD Client?

If it's not enabled you will need to call a user or someone at the location and have them check the box to enable remote login.
In the past the ARD client has 'stalled' forcing me to restart the agent. Another option would be to have someone restart the machine for you.
I have actually had to use ssh to uninstall and re-install the client software due to corruption or ??.
Let me know what the outcome is. I see this was from May so let me know either way.

Apple remote desktop not working
Just upgraded to Mavericks and can not use apple remote desktop. I bought my copy of ARD from the store. Anyway of getting this fixed?

I've upgraded to OSX Yosemite about a week and a half ago (on the day it was released) and since then, When I enter "System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General -> Advanced " it doesn't show me the "Pair" and "Un Pair" buttons, as I said I've used this remote lots of times before upgrading and there was
a "Pair" button there for sure, the Apple Instructions says it's in the same place on Yosemite but it isn't here
What is the problem? ;(

FrankSame problem here. First, I thought it was the Apple remote's battery. I replaced that and the problem persisted. I then used my digital video camera to verify that the remote was actually transmitting infrared, it was. In frustration, I tapped the buttons rapidly while pointing at the Apple TV. The Apple TV responded. The next button press it failed to respond. I tapped rapidly again and it finally responded. After many many rapid presses, while pointing directly at the Apple TV, it finally began responding to all presses. Once I'd regained control (I thought) I unpaired and re-paired the remote. Everything continued to work. At that time I also saw that I could "learn" another remote. So, I set up my Samsung TV remote. Sweet. Until the Apple TV went into screensaver mode again and I had to go through the same rapid button press sequence... with either the Apple remote or my learned Samsung remote. Conclusion, since the Apple TV will become fully responsive after the rapid button press sequence, it is certainly a software related problem.

My Apple TV remote is not working. It was fine this morning, but now ATV is not responding to it. It still access iTunes on my Mac so I don't think it's a battery issue. The white light flashes on ATV, but nothing happens. I have restarted ATV several times from the mains, but no change. Please help!

Did you do a software update?
AppleTV is unable to start properly. You need to connect to a computer running iTunes as detailed here:

APPLE TV DOES NOT WORK WITH NETFLIX, just a black screen and "Netflix is loading" message appears. I can´t even see Netflix´s home page or set up my account. Netflix is working fine on all other devices at home, but in Apple TV.
I have tried the 8.8.8.8 DNS trick, the turn off procedure, the manual IP setting, but nothing....black screen still appearsIt started working.....!!!!! (It seems someone back there is listening)
I "forced" an upgrade, I mean it showed "AppleTV is updated", nevertheless I re-started the system using the "return to original configurations" option. Then it updated again by itself to a newer version....and started working perfectly.
I have paired my apple wireless keyboard and it works fine, this way is easier to set up passwords or so (you can also do it with your remote).
TIPS:
I didn´t change any language or video quality configuration (scared to do so)
I changed to ethernet (cable) instead of wireless
My internet plan is 6 Megabytes (it was the same while it wasn't working)

The following article provides further information and could very well help get your Apple TV and your television cooperating again.
If HDCP authentication does not succeed, you may see one of the following symptoms:
A message may appear on your television stating "This content requires HDCP for playback. HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection."
You may see periodic bands of static, or full screen static, flashing across your TV screen.
If you are experiencing either of the symptoms above, try playing the same content again for at least another 10 seconds. If the issue persists, try the following steps until the issue is resolved:
Connect your Apple TV (2nd generation) directly to your HDTV using an HDMI cable.
Set your Apple TV and HDTV to off or sleep mode
From the Apple TV interface, select: Settings -> Sleep Now.
Turn off your TV and wait for about 10 seconds.
Turn your TV back on.
Press the Select button on your Apple TV remote to wake your Apple TV.
Some HDTVs may need a firmware update. Consult your TV manufacturer's user manual or online support pages for additional information about how to update your TV's firmware.
If available, try using a different HDMI to HDMI cable, such as an Apple HDMI to HDMI cable, directly between your Apple TV (2nd generation) and 720p HDCP-compatible HDTV.

My Apple TV is not working all of a sudden .
There is power to it , the light is on . I have turned it off and back on but no joy .
I have changed the hdmi cable .
I have reset it using the aluminium remote .
When I go to play a song using my I phone the Apple TV box is there on my phone but music comes out intermintant .
My tv screen is just blank but when I reset it the apple logo comes on my tv but then nothing elseconnect it to usb (on a computer)and restore the firmware

Apple Remote no longer working?!?
I'm hoping someone can help me. All of the sudden my Apple Remote is no longer working with my Macbook. I checked to make sure the infrared sensor was not disabled and even changed the battery just in case. I know the remote is working because I can see the light blinking on the remote when I look at it through photo booth, but I still can't get it to work with my computer. I can't even get it to pair with it. I am running iTunes 8 and OS 10.5.5. Any suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this?? Thanks!
If you know someone else with an Apple remote, you might try theirs on your MacBook. Since the option to disable the IR receiver appears in the Security System Preferences we can assume that Mac OS X sees the receiver and the hardware is functioning. (If the IR receiver hardware or software had failed, it would not appear in the Security System Preferences.) So, that would seem to indicate a problem with the Apple remote. But, we can't really say that for certain unless you can prove a different remote does work. If you do go to the Apple store and can show them that the remote is not working, as long as you're still under warranty, they can probably just hand you a new remote. Or you could buy a new one if you're not still under warranty or AppleCare.
