hey there all,
just about 2 hours ago i got a call from a very good friend who was @ the calling for a former student's father. the daughter/student had created a slide presentation in PowerPoint on a PC & made a DVD, but the DVD wouldn't play. my friend called me as i live near the funeral home & came over w/ the presentation on flash drive. i plugged it in & opened the presentation, but it was incomplete-it was all in code!! so i closed out Powerpoint & opened w/ Keynote, there were the slides & the presentation played!! i exported as a QT movie to my desktop, then dragged the QT movie into iMovie 6. from there i "shared" to my Sony mini DV cam(DV>AV converter) & out to a Samsung VHS/DVD recorder. Success!! she returned to the funeral home w/ a working DVD & the family was very happy.

i'm a long term user as well, buying friends old Macs as they got new. i was very surprised when it worked.... i've only made one presentation previously in Keynote & never used Powerpoint, so you can imagine the level of my surprise & amazement when i was able to help out my friend. so i guess in this particular case ignorance was bliss, or i might never have tried to do what i did. mostly just thankful for a happy ending for the family of the deceased.

No estás haciendo nada equivocado, iwork.com and idisk van a desaparecer en Julio, estos do servicios han sido reemplazados con icloud. icloud envía tu trabajo a todos tus iOS chismes, No estoy seguro si icloud te los guarda en sus serves tambien.
You haven't done anything wrong. iwork.com (this means the website and not the applicaiton!) are being discontinued in July, instead you can already use icloud to back up you pages documents. icloud sends them to all your iOS gadgets as you work. I am not sure if icloud actually backs up your documents in a server too.

Apple works or iwork vs. microsoft office for mac

I am a first-time mac user and unfortunately, did not have apple works loaded onto my imac. I did have a beta version of office for mac with which I am familiar. My question, since I was unable to trial apple works or iwork, is whether I should go with office for mac or apple works/iwork? My basic needs are word processing/home use. Hope someone can help me out as I need to purchase something.

AppleWorks and iWork are both less expensive than MS Office.
You should have trial versions of both iWork and MS Office on your iMac, according to this software list from the specifications page:
iLife ’06 (includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand),
Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive,
iWork (30-day trial),
Quicken 2006 for Macintosh,
Big Bang Board Games,
Comic Life,
Omni Outliner, and
Apple Hardware Test
Although my personal preference is AppleWorks, I'd hesitate to recommend it in your case. Appleworks is not, and likely never will be native to the intel OS X environment, and runs through Rosetta on the new machines. Although it runs well, and is a viable choice for anyone currently using it, AppleWorks is at the end of its development cycle. Unless you need its spreadsheet and database capabilities, you're probably better off looking at Pages in iWork.
Pages is a competent wp and page layout application, and for some long term users of AppleWorks, has become their favourite for this purpose. Pages includes some basic spreadsheet functions in inserted tables.
Office is an 'entrepreneur' level suite of applications, and as such contains a larger feature set in each application than either iWork or AppleWorks. But given your stated needs, it's probably a bigger hammer than you need, and one with a longer and steeper learning curve than you'd want. If you NEED to share files with Windows/MS Office users, there are a couple of free alternatives—OpenOffice.org, which requires you to install X11, Apple's Xwindow implementation, and NeoOffice, which runs in Java, which you will already have installed.
Others may have different recommendations.

Yes. Switching to Mac might be overwhelming at first, but it is not difficult. I Just started using Macs regularly about 9 months ago after using only Windows based pc's for over 15 years. Macs come with TextEdit , but you can also purchase MS Office for Mac or use Apple's version, called iWork.Yes, you can partition the hard drive of a Mac. With regular use of a Mac, you will be able to use it without even thinking about it, just like how you learned to use a WIndows pc.

Mac mail rules do not display properly

I use Mac Mail rules to manage my mail, but I am having trouble using them because, many time the "Perform the following actions:" display gets so scrunched together that I cannot see what I've already entered or, if I'm editing a rule, what needs to be changed (see image capture, below). This does not happen with every rule but it happens on many of them. It occasionally (but less often) happens with the conditions entries too.
I've had this problem for some time, but it's gotten much worse since I upgraded to Yosemite.
Another problem I'm having with the mail rules is that sometimes the "Stop evaluating rules" option is grayed out and I can't enter it as an action.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have read how to transfer data and using setup assistant but I am concerned about applications from Apple having the same names.

As you likely know legacy apps that are PPC based will not migrate over. However the data files will. I would urge you to inventory the apps you have and their data files to see how important they are and then look app by app to see what app replacements are available. If you are using Office for Mac prior to the 2008 version you will need to get a new license of the app because the 2004 version was PPC based. The files will come over and are readable by newer version of Office for Mac (I recommend the 2011 version) and also readable by the iWorks apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) but those are different apps than Office and work differently and do not have all of the features of the MS Office apps. This is really only a issue if you share files with MS Office users, if you use them for personal work then iWork may be just fine for your needs.

Restart your MBP holding the trackpad down and hopefully the disk will be ejected. Then try to return it and get a refund or put it in the trash. There is nothing that software does for your MBP that you cannot do yourself or with free software.
If can get your MBP started, delete all traces of the offending software. Worst case is that you may have to erase the HDD and reload the OS and your user data. I trust that you have a backup (minus MacTuneUp).

According to your description, my understanding is that use CMAK to configure split tunneling on VPN clients, traffic to specified devices can be routed via their own default gateway.
If the manually added route entries all have default metric and interface, clients will select one by the default routing rule, can’t select one of them according to clients’ own conditions. So, I am afraid that CMAK can’t implement the function which you need.

Apple Power Mac G4 speakers - connecting to Airport Express?

Simply converting the mechanical connection isn't enough.
There used to be a device called an iFire which allowed you to use those speakers with any computer that had FireWire. That device has been discontinued for a very long time. Anyway it wouldn't allow you to connect the speakers to an AX.
You need powered speakers to use with the AX.

Apple do not lock iPhones
Carriers do because they have subsidised the purchase price
and therefore only the carrier can unlock an iPhone
Orange have decided to apply 6 months to protect their revenue
they never have been the fastest to unlock

PSE 6.0 Mac - Apple Power Mac G5, - Which Camera RAW?

I have a Apple Power Mac G5. Uses Power PC Processor. Not Intel. Also have PSE 6.0 for Mac installed.
So which Camera RAW do I load with this setup? Tried to load Camera RAW 5.6 to no avail.

ACR 5.6 is compatible with PSE6.
You can install the update manually.
1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge.

I bought the CS5 education package by phone some time ago, when working in schools.
My computer collapsed and I am looking to get an apple i-mac or an apple mini to replace it. I want to know if my licence could be switched from a PC entiltement to a Mac one.
I am not willing to upgrade, just to swich my package to the new computer.

The 24/7 support did answer to a part of the question, which answer matches what was said to me there.
When it came to "terms and conditions" about eventually guetting the CS6, they asked me to open a skype account to "help me install the software".
As I repeated that I wanted only to know the how and abouts, before choosing any computer, I didn’t get more news... This quiet, but stuborn opposition to put things clear through a classic good and printable e-mail drives me to Plan B. "Swap with a tier"... !
If I don’t get a proper answer in the next hours, they may have lost a buy...
