Apple TV Delay

Hey..
When i turn on my Apple TV and then switch the input on my TV from TV to HDMI, it says no signal and nothing happens. Only when i try to use the control and switch back to TV and then back to HDMI it suddenly works. It's like there is a kind of delay on the TV, so i get the picture from the Apple TV after maybe 5-7 minutes, cause i can hear the sounds from the apple tv meneu. So it's just the picture.
Anyone who knows how i can fix this "delay" problem ?

It may be that AppleTV can't see your TV's HDMI input when another input is selected so it assumes you're using component (only one or other can be active) - all the subsequent switching probably make Appletv aware the HDMI is now live.
HDMI can be problematic as it isn't passive technology - both devices talk to each other to determine what audio/video specs they can both handle correctly - if AppleTv can't talk to the HDMI port if it's deselected then it won't know how to display video and will output over component.
Any reason you couldn't use component in on the TV with audio across analogue cable?
When HDMI works it's great but it's not always perfect IMO.

  • Apple intentially delays shipment

Do you know apple has an agreement with ups to delay shipment intentially?

There are many different agreements and tiers of shipping, and new ones are being invented every day. (For example, express delivery to your nearest US Post Office, for final delivery by your mail carrier.)
I expect what has happened is that Apple approached UPS and said, "We want a very low cost way of shipping hundreds of thousands of items, with signature on delivery."  And I imagine  UPS responded, "We can meet your cost targets if you allow us ship 'space-available, low priority'. This will mean that if the trucks are full of higher-priority stuff, your packages may be held for up to 5 days at any point in the system."
I do not think this is an International Conspiracy.
I believe Apple will allow you to pay for overnight express shipping, if that is what you desire.

  • Wishlist: Apple Mail delayed send

    Wishlist for Apple Mail.
I would really like to have the option to send emails at scheduled times with Apple Mail. I.e. Send email on Monday 8:00am as to not send out work related emails over the weekend, but first thing Monday morning (in order not to annoy colleagues who get alerts on their iPhone when new mail arrives). Microsoft
Outlook seems to have mastered this feature, I am sure Apple can do the same.
For now I will have to use 3rd party tool Mail Scripts.
    Thanks.

That's great, but does no good posting here. We're just users like yourself.
In the Mail menu, there is an option to send feedback to apple. That is the appropriate way to request enhancements.

  • Apple Mail delay

For some reason I have to wait 10-15 minutes for Apple Mail to retrieve my email messages. It always eventually comes in but clicking "check for new mail" does nothing. Clicking that button also does nothing after I've already received my new mail.
I've seen other similar discussions but nothing that offers a solution this predictable problem.
Also is there a log file where I can see what's happening behind the scenes?
    thanks,
    Scott

Delete the GoDaddy account from Internet Accounts (make sure to select Remove All)
Locate the Cached folder, after you find the com.apple.mail folder, delete everything inside the cache (all folders and files)
    Restart your machine
Re-add your email account from within Apple Mail: Mail - Accounts... - Add Other Account
Fill out your account info fully,  re-launch Mail

  • Infinite shipping delay in the MacBook Pro Retina to Europe

Does anyone know why Apple is delaying the shippment of the MacBook Pro Retina every week?
I bought one more than a month ago and every week they extend the shipping estimate date. I'm thinking on return it back. The sadness is that I already have my useless Thunderbolt Cinema Display, and a also useless Thunderbolt hard drive which I don't know if they work properly because I don't have the computer to test them!!
Does anyone know something about this?

  • Complain the apple service

    hi,
i am really really angry about the service.  last time(case number:285365813) is 27/1/2012 i contact you said i need  a receipt with iemi no. Because my cell phone is lost, the insurance company need a receipt with iemi number. But it has been more than 10 days, I still have not received. Insurance company inform my last term is Tuesday. If haven't given them will be cancel my claim...
your staff always tell me wait 2 to 7 days, but it already 11 days, i still not receive.....
the insurance company cancel my claim already..because you i cant claim my iphone back... because you i lose my phone. i really really hate the apple service....really hate.
apple uk service is really bad..

hi. i do not think this is the right place to escalate this concern but let's just hope this will create a visibility to apple support personnels joining this forum as well... most of the people here are also users and not apple employees.
first things first.. did you p[rovide what is needed to have your request processed?
you also have to inform apple about the insurance, and vice versa, the insurance company also needs to know that apple has delayed response (assuming that you have already provided everything they need for your request to be processed)
double check that the fault or gating item here is not actually you.
since you are the customer, you need to be more aggressive towards Apple. if you have to demand to speak to the managers, do so. you have all the right because you are the customer...

  • ATI X1950XTX/CrossFire is out! Could that explain MacPro X1900 delays?

Well after all it seems ATI X1900 order delays could be X1950 related!
    ATI introduced new cards:
    X1950XTX/CrossFire
    X1900XT/256Mb
    X1650Pro

Main thing for shure is LOW NOISE! Fan is said doesn't even move at idle!!
    EDIT:
MSI,Gigabyte,Sapphire,Asus pages were updated just minutes later!

...or maybe there is just so much demand that they need to produce enough of them first
Though I would prefer that Apple is delaying because of the newer card and lower noise, that's always a bonus.

  • I have lost respect for Apple and AT&T

I canceled my iPad order because of this deal with them eliminating the unlimited plan. I placed my order for my iPad on May 26th and it wasn't due to ship until June 15th. I think Apple purposely delayed my order until after the change in the plan.
I also heard at work that some of the iPads might be over heating. They shut off outside from what I have heard. I don't know if there is any truth to that or not. All I have to say is shame on Apple and shame on AT&T.
I bought the Google Nexus One instead and I think I will be much happier plus I am paying a lot less for the device.
To be honest, I feel like I dodge a bullet here.
I don't know what you guys think, but those are my feelings.
    Matt

Oh I know, but on the other side of the coin. The Nexus will be easier to carry around.
Good and bad. Either way what is done is done. If you would like I can still let you know what I think of the new phone. I get it tomorrow.

  • No Longer Able To Delete Songs, Permanently. 9.0.3

I updated to iTunes 9.0.3 yesterday.
Today I somehow realized the song files i was deleting, were still in my iTunes folders.
I can't necessarily blame the update because I am not sure how long this has been going on. However, I suspect I inspected because something didn't feel right about the song just disappearing after I hit delete.
I am aware of the following:
"Are you sure you want to permanently delete this file from iTunes?" this dialog box was no longer appearing. so I RESET all dialog warnings and now it does appear. Yet, once I delete, and click OK on permanently removing from iTunes Library, it is still to be found in iTunes Folder. This removes only from my Library and not from the folders, I understand. The real question is, why I am no longer being asked if I want to move to Trash, even after having reset all dialog warnings.
Also, "Hey, Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized." I admit, at times this box would be unchecked to stop the annoying delay of simply playing a song. Props to Apple, this delay is gone. Back to the point, with this option ON, after deleting a song, i still find them in their original iTunes Folders.
My only conclusion, this is a 9.0.3 issue.

See if this post by me applies:

  • Why can't verizon tell us a simple date?

I am getting extremely frustrated because Verizon says on the phones that the iPhone 6 plus is on back-order until 10/31 for the 128gb for Silver. I don't understand why they didn't have these on hand so people could get them. I would like it as soon as possible. It is ALOT of money for a phone to have to wait a month or so. Could someone in Verizon's company let us know when they will be shipping?
    Thanks!
    Kayla.

You did see the news reports that Apple cannot keep up to demand for the iPhone 6 Plus and that deliveries are not matching requests. It is indicated the demand is so high, that Apple is delaying the new larger iPad and shifting work that would have been on on that to the 6 Plus. I suspect Verizon doesn't give exact dates since they can't guarantee they will get as many phones as they are requesting.

  • Optimize performance of large library and masters, and hardware?

I followed some very useful advice here during the transition from Aperture 2 to 3, about a year ago.  It dealt with keeping things running efficiently, when managing 100,000+ photos in your Aperture library.  Defragmentation, eSata drives, referenced files, etc.
The best information came from a "Kevin J. Doyle".  I'd be delighted to hear from him how he currently has things set up, including hardware.  (Like me, he is a registered user, but I don't see any way to contact him directly via e-mail, and don't see any web page for him elsewhere.  So this is a message in a bottle. . . .)
I'm currently wrestling with inadequate hardware (iMac 7,1, with 6GB Ram, and multiple hard drives via fw800), and suffering long hours doing basic housekeeping just to keep things barely adequate.  For example, after I've done a lot of overnight copying and repairing of things, I still have to wait more than ten seconds for an individual image to load on screen before I can edit it.  And if I use brushes, the resulting "processing" can sometimes take up to a minute before I see the particular effect of my brushing.  I waste a lot of time.  (I spend a lot of time keeping customers updated on my slow progress with their pictures too, hoping they don't get too frustrated.)
I know it's a common observation, that computer hardware and software must be routinely maintained (usually via other sofware, eg. Cocktail, Disk Warrior, etc.).  I think I'm beyond the point I can eek out better performance from this generation of iMac.  I'm thinking about the Mac Pro next.  I'm not too concerned for now about the rumored end of Apple development of the Mac Pro.  I probably should be, but I'm sure that anything I get hold of in the Mac Pro line from the last two or three generations would be faster and easier to use (organizing multiple hard drives, in particular).
I'm also keen to know how to organize my library better.  I have 250,000 and counting photos, referenced.  2TB and more of masters.  I work with thumbnails, but without previews (because they made the library too large to copy in a reasonable time, i.e. overnight via fw800, and did not seem to speed up the editing in any way I could measure).  Currently everything is in one library.  I've tried making a small "work-in-progress" separate library, thinking that might speed things up.  It made no difference.  Tried the same with managed versus referenced.  No difference.  Anything else I could try?
My masters are located on a very fast (raid-5) and large (6TB) disc, accessed by the library via fw800, because that's all I can get from the iMac.  FWIW, the location of the masters does not seem to have anything to do with the editing performance slowness.  I and others here ran those tests a while ago, when I switched from a managed to a referenced library.

It is time to move to more modern Sandy Bridge hardware. New Mac Pros with the latest graphics support will almost assuredly be available soon. I suggest waiting to see the choices/prices and then moving to more adequate Thunderbolt-based hardware, very much preferably Mac Pro rather than iMac if the new MP pricing is at all civilized.
Top iMacs obviously have cpu speed (for those who can tolerate the glossy display) but for heavy images work a true tower with a top graphics card has the appropriate beef to best perform the tasks you are presenting.
Sandy Bridge Xeon cpus are available Q1 but there is however some chance that Apple might delay the MP upgrade until the Ivy Bridge Xeon cpus in the April/May time frame.

  • Photoshop CS5 freezes temporarily on a newly opened PSD

For some reason whenever I open a PSD, generally speaking having more than 10 layers (website concepts most of the time so more tall than wide), the document freezes for about 5-10 seconds where I cannot switch between existing documents, use a tool, use the menu, use any palette ... ultimately the whole program temporarily freezes.
I tested it on both Mac and Windows OSes and it only seems to happen on the Mac.
    My config is:
    27" iMac OSX 10.6.4
    2.66GHz Intel i5
    4x2GB 1066 DDR3 RAM
    ATI Radeon 4850 512MB @ 2560x1440 and 2nd monitor @ 1200 x 1920
I let PS use 70% of RAM, enabled OpenGL Drawing in Advanced Mode with Vertical Sync and Antialias Guides and Paths with History and Cache levels set on the "Tall and Thin" option. Scratch disk is the same as my only HDD.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't freeze up on opening images such as jpg, png, gif but it has done on layered tiffs.
    Any ideas?

    >I would set you as "answered" but I mis-clicked and hit helped.
no worries, I'm not sure what all that is about anyway, I don't think anyone is getting a bonus for more stars : )
Most of the responses on the forum are just parroting the solutions to the same problems that regularly arise in posts. There's not a good single source that lists PS problems/solutions with the exception of searching forums, but in situations like this with FAP the delay problem seems unrelated so it can be more difficult to find via a search.
Here's my list of most common issues (I'm sure that I'm missing some) :
    1. permissions issues from early installer - fixed with 12.0.1?
    2. font issues with OS handling of bad fonts - remove, repair cleanup fonts and caches, and wait for OS fix from Apple
    3. delays from using an older version of FontAgentPro - update software
    4. new problem with Fusion3 and large PSB files - no fix yet
    5. restricted drag area under open panes - not fixed
    6. script errors with Windows/CIFS network shares mounted on the desktop - unmount from network
    and a couple listed here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/840/cpsid_84020.html
Several of the solutions are simple; update OS, PS and all 3rd party apps/plugins, clean up permissions, clean caches. All of which are good regular maintenance tasks before adding a new CS suite or any new app.

  • APPLESCRIPT AND HTML PARSING.

    hi,
im new to applescript so im not quite sure if what i want to do is actually called html parsing.. but basically i want to put a variable in applescript that is linked to the actual html but i dont know how to make applescript access data inside a html code... to give u a better idea, inside the html is something like this:
    100
now that value "100" changes but its maximum amount is 100. i want to create a script which responds to change when that value starts to drop by loading another link.
am i making sense? again the thing id like to achieve is make applescript use that value INSIDE the HTML as its own variable (and perform the right actions as that value changes)
    any help would be appreciated.

In first place you could open the site you talked about in safari and run a little javascript via applescript to get that value.
Javascript is the "best" way to get a special value out of an HTML-Element, but only works in browsers.
    e.g.
    tell application "Safari"
    open location "http://apple.com"
    delay 6
set mypromo to do JavaScript "document.getElementById('promos').getElementsByTagName('a')[0].title" in document 1
display dialog "Title of first Promo is:" & return & mypromo
    end tell
Or you could just d/l the pure source convert it to text and search for the phrase you are looking for
    e.g.
set mysource_html to do shell script "curl http://mysite.org/bla.html"
set mysource_txt to do shell script "curl http://mysite.org/bla.html | textutil -stdin -convert txt -format html -stdout"
    if mysource_html contains "<a>100</a>" then
display dialog "Hey, value of 100 is reached"
    end if
    --or something like
    if mysource_txt contains "100" then
display dialog "Hey, value of 100 is reached"
    end if
