AppleScript and Myob integration to external database and having gui...

Hi there,
I have recently been asked into creating a front end application which has to read/write information to/from Myob to third party tools which I need to write. These include external databases and other tools. Due to the fact that the current Myob database is quite large and re-entering/ relating information would be tedious to incorporate into another system, I have opted to extend the capabilities of which the client wants like project management/Employee performance reviews etc, to compliment the current information already in Myob.
This is where the problem arises. I would have liked to have an ODBC bridge between Myob and my application tool in order for in-depth communication. But seeing that Myob only provides this in Windows form which only work with APIs of .NET, VB, C#, c/c++, Java (WIN32 only), and the clients machines at the office are Macintosh based OS 9/X, I instead am stuck with using Appescript. That in itself is frustrating, as looking at the Scriptability directory for Myob, I'm only given simple functionality such as import/export and standard open/quit/print/run functionality.
Would any programmer out there know of any reference to do something like I require. The MacOS9 part I know would need to be dropped? (I need GUI interface for client interaction)
only doco that Myob has provided are given here, http://help.myob.com/ -> http://help.myob.com/ae07/mac/introimportexport.htm (seeing I'm dealing with Myob AE07)
cheers
Tibs

Hi !
You are right, Oracle CRM OnDemand does not send datas directly in other applications. That's why there are companies that are Integrator of this solution.
Imagine that this functionality was standard. How Oracle is supposed to know to which type of external application you want to send your datas ? There are to many types of integration possibility and each customer has its specific needs for integration...
Can you describe a type of interface you would like to have in standard in OCOD ?
Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !

  • Integrating existing staff database and LDAP server - where to start?

    Hi,
I really hope you guys can help me out here. Basically I have an Oracle based staff database and an LDAP server for global intranet application authentication. Now I've been tasked with implementing Oracle Portal for a local Intranet site, adding the usual static HR info, but also writing an editor for the staff database, some reports on other databases, and some simple workflows to authorise page updates, etc. I'm kind of stumped on where to start in integrating everything together. What's the best approach? Can I simply rewrite the views used by the portal to look at my staff tables, or do I need to refresh into the portal somehow? That being the case, how do I prevent users editing their data (as it'll be overwritten) Is it easy to authenticate against a third party LDAP server? If so, how? Plug-in in OID? Can I change the views in the portal to look at the data in my existing staff DB instead of the local portal tables? Many questions, I know, but Oracle's documentation is like diet food - lots of bulk with very little by way of calories. Getting very disillusioned with the whole thing to be honest, so some motivational success stories would be nice too!

  • Run Aperture and iPhoto on an external drive and edit from laptop?

Can I run iphoto and Aperture on an external hard drive, like a file server?  Can I store pics on the external hard drive and edit using iphoto or aperture on the external hard drive from a laptop ?  How do I make this work?
    HELP!  I'm maxed out!

    Hello Laura,
what is it, that you want to achieve?
Move the Aperture Library to an external drive to free space on your laptop?
or do you want to share your Aperture Libray between your machines and access it in parallel on a network volume?
The option "1" is easy to achieve, the option "2" is not supported by Aperture; Aperture (and iPhoto) are single User programs, see this:
Aperture: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3252
To move your library (or parts of your library) to an external drive you have two options:
move the complete libary using the finder to a local, external, MacOSX formatted drive,
or turn your library into a "referenced" library: relocate the master image files to the external drive, but keep  the Library itself (much smaller now) on your laptop. This way you can browse your images and rate them, use them as screensaver, even if the external drive is not connected.
    Regards
    Léonie
P.S. the same (*** grano salis) holds for iPhoto; you can move the library, or your libraries, to an external drive using the Finder; you can make the iPhoto Library referenced, but referenced libraries are much better supported in Aperture, for Aperture has been designed in espacially to support huge, distributed libraries - in iPhoto I found it it safer to have several smaller libraries than to have one huge, referenced library - that was one of  the reasons I moved from iPhoto to Aperture.

  • Queries about PS module and subsequent integration with MM, SD and PP

    Hello Experts,
Am posting the query for the first time so hope you all will excuse if something is not correct. Here is a scenario that I am working on:
    - The customer is a project engineering company wanting to use PS (but without networks - ONLY WBS)
    - We copy the neutral material BOM to create a project BOM
    - We create a multi-item sales order with a/c assignment to different assembly groups from the project structure for deliveries and billing
    - Project COST planning (V002 and V000) is carried out
    - Material stock must be valuated
Following are the scenarios for commitment and actual costs:
    1. Direct procurement:
Process: Material purchased with a PR generated from SO item --> PO --> GR --> IR
Query: I am guessing that commitment will be generated through PO creation for WBS. What about actual? What type of cost element should be assigned to the G/L being affected during GR so that I can get some actual against the WBS?
    2. Procure to produce:
    Process:
Common Purchase: Material purchased through a normal PO (without a/c assignment to WBS) for common unrestricted stock.
Project purchase: Material purchased through project PO (with a/c assignment to WBS - resulting in commitment generation) and special project stock at the time of GR
Both materials (from common and project PO) shall be used for production of an assembly which is being produced using a production order which is assigned to the WBS element.
    Query:
How and when would I be getting the commitment / actual effects here?
    - Is any commitment generated when I create a production order?
    - Is any actual cost posted when I issue raw material to this production order?
    - What if the raw material being issued to production order was not purchased using this WBS? Is the actual cost still loaded on this WBS?
    - What happens when I confirm the production order to generate FG stock?
What should I be careful about when defining this scenario and what type of cost elements should I be using?
    3. Procure - Produce - Sale
Process: In certain cases, material procured  for common stock is issued for project production,
Material produced for one WBS/Project gets issued for another.
Query: How does SAP react in this case about the entire commitments and actual cost postings?
I know there are too many queries but I hope you all understand that it is a project-engineering-manufacturing company so on one side the commitment-actual costs are important to be assigned to right project-WBS. At the same time, they also want to have the flexibility in their production activities.
Awaiting eagerly for all possible help.

Link farming is not allowed on this forum. Hence, i would not be able to post any links here. Just to get you started type "SAP Help" in Google. Open the 1st link and under Frequently used click on "ERP Central Components". Then under SAP ERP Central Component 6.0 click on "English". This will take you to a new window. Here, again click on "SAP ERP Central Component". Then click on Logistics - Project System.
You can find all the relevant topics listed here. Go through each one of them and revert with specific queries.

  • FORMS 6i and referenced forms in the database and compilation

    Hello everybody,
I must work on an existing FORMS 6i APPLICATION.
I'm using FORMS 6i patch 18 on an ORACLE DATABASE 10g.
When I open a form I've got the message 'to retrieve reference objects, you must connect to the database' ( I think subclassed objects ), I do it and I got the error 'Failed to load objects ....'
In fact, I realize that the form I have to modify contains some objects referenced in some ( 3 in fact ) fmb source files, after searching on the web I have to 'insert' these 3 forms in the database : I have done it.
Everything is OK now : no more error when opening the form, I modify it and compile it on my testing environnment.
My question is : Do I have to "insert" these 3 source fmb forms into production in order to make my compiled fmx executable ??
Indeed, the only way to insert a form into database is to have the developper 6i database tables in the database, but in production I think it does not matter, do you ?
    thanks a lot.
    Romeo Georgievski.

You only need the referenced objects when
    - changing the form in the Builder
    - generating/compiling the form
When generating/compiling Forms Builder or Forms Compiler are resolving the references against the objects stored in the database.
They are now part of the runtime form (fmx file).
    Note:
Storing objects into the database is desupported/depricated after Forms 6i (6.0.8).

  • OEG and OES integration - 11g Authorization filter and XACML

    Experts,
I have installed OEG 11.1.1.6 and OES 11.1.1.5 initially i tried delgating the OEG authorization to OES through 11g Authorization filter but it failed. latter i tried with XACML Filter. i see the everything in backend happening fine (OEG trace file - DATA mode) but i always get a DENY response within XACML Soap response. what could be the possible reasons.
and Plz let me how i do i set a log file for OES WS SM. I dont see anythin helpful in the OES logs.
Let me know any doc or guide which can help me to do a integration btw OEG and OES
    thanks

Can you give more information on your use case. BTW, you should look at attending OES training, this will give you a good high level picture as well as hands on experience.

  • Way of External Database Integration with UCCX

    Hi
I want to know what are the way of UCCX integration with External Database(Mobile Operator, Banking, Insurance).I only know about DBwrite and DBGet. is there any way out(http, https,SOAP)? They dont want to give me direct access to there Databases.
    Sultan Al Arif

One way to do this would be to use the Get URL Document step to request an XML file from a web server.
Upon receiving this request the web server would then retrieve the required data via SQL (fairly easy to do using ASP.NET and  IIS), format it in an XML page and return it to your script.
The script would then use Get XML Document Data steps to parse the XML file for the required data.
The organisations that operate the databases with which you want to integrate may have some concerns about the security of this though as the data will not be encrypted in transit.

  • ACS and CAR integration

    Hi,
Is it possible to integrate ACS and CAR with DB-2 Database and if yes, are there any limitations or issues related to that? Does CAR or ACS loose any functionality in such integration?
I am not looking for detailed process of the integration at this time, all I want to know is if it is supported and are there any issues.
    Thanks,
    Habib U Dashti

    Hi Habib,
Yes, ACS can be integrated with DB-2, as ACS is ODBC compliant and so as DB-2, The other way round is that you can convert DB-2 database in flat file structure and import it into ACS database. Regarding limitations or issues i do not have any info.
And CAR has its own database & does not support DB-2.
    Thanks.

Create your own Value Object (Data Transfer Object) in Java with a structure similar to this and map the fields returned from the database to the fields of that object (preferably using SEtT methods).
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle 11G database and Application Server installed on same server

What are the pros and cons installing Oracle 11G database and Oracle Application Server (Forms and Reports) on the same server?
    Thank you in advance, Sonya

Some may want their data in a separate network zone for security reasons.
It also depends if it is the same people that do maintenance on db and appserver.
It is lower cost with one server, and only 1 Os to set up.
